Absolutely the best! They saved our vacation time on the water. Outboard & electrical issues on our first day in Marathon. I stopped in hoping to see if they could take a look at the issues. Very friendly and genuine welcome and desire to help me get back on the water. Incredibly knowledgeable about Mercury & Yellowfin so I knew I was in good hands after discussing the issues. Brought the boat to them via water and everyone I came in contact with on the dock and in the yard was very friendly and asking how they could help. They traced the electrical issues in a matter of hours and the boat was ready to go. Sean explained in detail everything they corrected. Pricing was more than fair. Bottom line….I felt like I was a long time customer they were trying to help.Amazing experience, great pricing, and friendly team. Thank you!
Apparently new ownership has done nothing to help the image of this business. I stopped in to inquire about a boat for sell that was listed at $23,500. When I came back 2 hours later the boat sign was gone and he stated it is now $25,000. I still had serious interest in the boat so he offered to drop it in the water and let us test it out. I tried to push for same day test as we are serious about this boat, he pushed it off and scheduled for next day at 8 am. My wife and I show up at 8am this morning only to be told that the boat was sold yesterday. “A man came in a paid full price” Gary said. I could understand this if I was low balling him or offered something less than asking but that did NOT happen. I never implied that we would not buy at full price. To say I’m frustrated does not fully describe this. I got my lending secured and took all the steps to be ready for our 8 am meeting to buy the boat. I am in business as well and would never practice these kinds of shady practices. I would stay far away from this shady business.
We arrived in Marathon late Thursday only to find an oil leak from the motor. We called Shelter Bay early Friday morning. I explained that we were in Marathon for just a couple of days and asked if they could take a quick look at the motor. They gladly agreed and asked me to bring the boat to their shop. Within minutes the service manager determined that my oil filter had developed a pinhole leak. He offered to change it in their parking. Within 15 minutes we had paid and we’re back on our way, Great service and Keys hospitality!
We had great service and they went beyond the expected and drove my husband back to our house because the seas were high & the winds were blowing too hard for the return trip.
I have been dealing with shelter bay for over 2 years for a couple of my boats. Tip is my main point of contact and has never let me down. Work is performed on time, prices are competitive and the boats are returned spotless.
Great service all around!
Shelter Bay went above and beyond what they had to do to replace our prop shaft. We are appreciative of their honesty and ethics, something that’s hard to find in a business nowadays.
Awesome customer service! Let me start by saying that a buddy of mine and I trailered my boat from Virginia three days ago and we were only here for 9 more days. I was having trouble with one of the engines stalling on my boat. “Tip”, found a service bulletin on the symptoms I was having, he let me copy the bulletin and gave me great advice on how to fix my problem. Everyone there seemed very eager to help knowing the circumstances we had. Thank you Shelter Bay Marina for all your help.
Part mark up 100+%. The part cost 670$ they sold us for 1600$ this is Robbery in day light.Mercury must be really proud having represented by these guys.
Great service. Very reliable and honest.
Very well known by the locals, I heard nothing but very good reviews, they have very highly trained technicians that know what theyre doing.
They towed our boat in there, and did a good job. But charged basically $2800 and over 2 months to tell us that the motor was junk. You would think that 4 certified yamaha mechanics would be able to diagnose the motor was junk in a couple of hours. The oil was full of metal and the crank spun a bearing. I would not recommend them. I would try riva motorsports, or take your boat to miami.
Great attitude, very rare this far South.
Great place
I brought my running boat there for a high rpm problem, $1500.00 later, got it back (not running), with wrong flywheel stuck on. A new stator that was not needed. Manager said they used an impact on the flywheel, grinding metal and cockeyed, carbs leaking. RTV inside carbs and all over everything, spark plug wires on wrong.Stay away!!!!
Go to Marathon Boat Yard for highly professional service.
Asked to look at a simple problem on my Mercury OptiMax, man on phone immediately informed me, I couldnt even look at it for two weeks.Must be nice having the only Mercury shop in Marathon.Hey MERCURY, this shop is representing your brand HORRIBLY.
Very helpful, had parts and great information was shared. Fixed issue
No communication. Ray acts like a child. Do not take your boat to this place!
Fast repairs. New starter in days
Charged me $110.00 to do nothing. Took a running boat in for an electrical problem and they spent a few minutes on it then called to say it would take several hours to rebuild the carburetors before they would check anything else.
Had drain plug washers I needed ....normal retail of $2.60 ea...on line...shelter bay charged me $16 plus tax...for 2....just buyers beware....
Great friendly service.
