A couple weeks ago, I took the Old Gibson 335 to Jeremy at West in Marion for a set up. Jeremy has done wonders on past set ups he has done for me. He was able tp perform miracles on an old guitar that is due for a re fret job. HIGHLY recommend Jeremy for your instrument need. He does a GREAT JOB!!

We have bought thousands of dollars worth of equipment from west music in Cedar Rapids Ia. that we use on the road in our gospel music ministry and had all our interments, ect. repaired there and will be buying more soon. always been very satisfied with every thing for years . Absolutely do not use this place to get your instruments fixed. They wont do the repair, just charge you. There are lots of LOCAL Business that offer instrument repair. They do it better and cheaper. STAY AWAY!

The people there are so nice. My cousin, sister and I went there and we were welcome in. The atmosphere was pleasant and enjoyable. I highly recommend coming here if you are interested/fascinated with musical instruments.

TL;DR If you do not have the means to just purchase an instrument for your child, I strongly encourage you to rent elsewhere.I am surprised to see such a high rating for this business. Our child was starting band and we were reluctant to purchase until we knew they would stick with a new instrument. We are a family of musicians and obviously familiar with purchasing and renting instruments. We expected zero issues.The first incident was them calling to say they couldnt process our payment because the signature didnt match the name on the card- after verifying ID to card, in person, during the school rental night.From there on out it was failure to deliver my sons instrument and failure to contact us about it beforehand. We would be informed of another surprise step in the rental process only after they found another issue with us. Conflicting information every single time we called to speak to someone. The grand finale was, after completely wasting our time, asking for a $250 security deposit without being able to give us a straight answer on what exactly made them think we were a risk to rent to.We decided to go with purchasing an instrument outright from a different business. If you do not have the means to purchase for your child, then I strongly encourage you to rent elsewhere.

Have always loved this store, but it wasnt until a recently large purchase that I feel we could really rate our experience. Purchased a baby grand piano and the experience from start to finish and even post purchase has been nothing shy of stellar! I am very pleased that we choose West Music.

This place is wonderful for lessons and instruments. The teachers know how to teach very well and one of the guitar teachers is the local guitar player Billy Lee Janey!

I went in for a new acoustic guitar and I spent a few hours playing the guitars and the salesman was very helpful. I found a Martin 000RSG that was originally $1150 but was on sale for $850, so I got a great deal. The salesman told me that there was a 45 day return policy, and that whether or not there were any problems I should bring it in and theyd make any necessary adjustments for free, so I did that yesterday and they adjusted the truss rod and lowered the action near the bridge, which was the only thing I didnt love about the guitar, so I had great service for a great price. Id recommend West Music for any music needs

Walked in just now looking for a keyboard. Not one employee said a word to me and they were just standing there talking.I’ll buy online where it is cheaper and I can read reviews if I’m not gonna get assistance

These days and especially around the holidays retail staff can be somewhat indifferent that was not the experience here. I was treated so kindly from start to finish. I am new to the music world and really needed help. The service and information was top notch. I can’t say enough good things about the people working here.

Prices can be a little high sometimes but it is the only reliable music and instrument place in town for woodwinds and brass. Percussion, guitars and keyboards can be found at other locations for a better price. But I use this store for the reeds I use for the Alto saxophone.

This is a great place to come for instruments. They also give lessons. Prices seem very fair and they are always willing to help when you have a question.

The staff at West Music is always helpful and knowledgeable. And usually they have just what we need and when they dont theyll find it to order so we can pickup later. This trip we were looking for two books and they had both in stock which made my 7th grader very happy!

Very helpful and didnt try an upsell me on an issue I am having with my guitar. They instead offered a logical test to help determine the issue before I made any purchases.

So, this was my second stop for the day. The first stop was at another guitar store not to far away from this one. I was in the market for a new bass and amp, but I couldnt get anyone to help me. Not that they were busy, Well, they were busy talking to each other... So I left and came here to West Music. As soon I walked in, I was greeted by Ian and we talked about what my needs were for an instrument, what would be about right for me and then we started looking at guitars they had in stock. Then he showed me what he could order to satisfy my taste in looks as well as performance. He took the time and showed me online what was available. Most of all, as a beginner, he didnt make feel ignorant. It was a nice comfortable conversation, I decided on a bass that I liked, an amp that worked for me and I made the purchase. I am extremely happy and I have talked to Ian a couple of times since. Not just him by the way, Ive had good talks with others as well. Anything I need from now on will come from this store. I thank you guys for a great experience, Ill be back again.

Went in for a trombone repair. It only took two days, and the free rental I got from them was very nice (As far as loaners go). Additionally, they let you try out just about everything theyve got, which is great.

Child decided to play in the school band. Had no clue what we needed to get. Staff was awesome and got us all the supplies we needed. We were out of there in less than 20 min.

AWESOME customer service! I brought in a Ukulele with a broken neck, and instead of trying to upsell me into fixing it for $100+ they said up front that I could simply replace it for about $50.

The staff are not knowledgeable about their rental policy. They can tell you to fill out an application, but cant answer any questions, like how much of your monthly payment will go towards purchasing an instrument, or whether you can just pick up the instrument instead of having it sent to the school so your child can actually use it for those three weeks before school starts, or whether they will notify you when your application goes through (or doesnt). (They wont.)They have one person in charge of scheduling lessons, and if you call to ask about your lessons, the staff will say they are incapable of looking up the information (unless that one person happens to be there and available, which doesnt seem to be often). Obviously all non-private information that a customer might need the staff to access should be - accessible - to all the staff. It takes no training to look at a schedule and say whether or not your teacher still has a classroom scheduled for your usual time, or if its been cancelled.When you sign up for lessons, the site claims youll get a welcome package with a bag and shirt, but in my experience, youll never get this, even if you ask for it repeatedly.
