I understand there is a supply issue nationally, but the communication is so poor. Ordered a couch in June and were told it would be there by September. September passes and not a word from Shunk. We’re into November now and still no idea when our couch will be in. No communication from anyone there unless we call. We were told it would be on today’s truck. Made plans to be out of work to meet the delivery people. Had to call them to find out that it wasn’t on the truck. Salesperson was not helpful or We wanted to stay local but I will never buy another piece of furniture from Shunk again.
Ordered a sectional. It is high quality and beautiful, but the service at the store was disappointing. FYI, they have no return policy. You buy it, you keep it, even if it doesnt fit your house or you arent satisfied.
Bought a great bed that I do love. What I dont love is that I made it clear that I had a specific day it needed to be delivered. They of course, got this day wrong. Ended up having to sleep on the floor for 2 days
Everything I wanted to buy couldnt sell. Order maybe get in 6months. They did call Marquette store and had one double recliners for sale. Didnt like price but bought it. Now delivery maybe 2weeks. Why do stores have products but dont sell?🤪
Id give minus 2 stars if I could. We ordered a couch early January. The woman said it would not be in untill April. June came around and we have not heard anything. I called the store inquiring about our couch and they had no idea what, when, or where the status was. I called back again inquiring late July. The woman told me she would call the manufacturer and get back to me. So a few days pass and I get a call our order has shipped but she cant know exactly when it will be at the store. So now its very end of July and woman calls me saying she is 99.9% sure it has been delivered to the Negaunee store, shell find out call me back. Nope I call Monday August 2nd to the Negaunee store, yes my couch is there and being that its 4 months overdue I request free delivery. The guy told me if they do free delivery every time an order was late, everyone would get free delivery and that theyd be out of business. Enough said right there!!
Ordered a new bed and paid in full and was told it would be a week and a half. It’s been two weeks so I called and was told it will be on the next truck. I had to ask when the next trunk was expected- three weeks due to the virus. I understand the delay but I feel they were not upfront about it - just wanted the sale. Very disappointed
My parents ordered quite the expensive, Amish made dining room set. Unfortunately, a scratch was discovered after movers left. Called to fix, they come over with a Menards bought pen. We could have did that ourselves. We thought it would be a more of a professional fix considering what they paid for the table. Two weeks use of furniture and we could tell the arms and backs of chair are loose! Usually, Amish made products are not made that shoddy. They were very rude about this whole situation. I advised my parents to go to BBB. They blamed everything on my elder parents. Shop elsewhere. It is not worth the headaches.
I have furnished our house and camps for years with only Shunk furniture mostly Flexsteel. They are the best of the best.
We ordered a custom La-Z-Boy reclining chair from Shunks US 41 store years ago, and while it was pricey, the quality was exceptional. In 2019, we ordered another custom chair from Shunks and had a completely different experience. The entire process was underwhelming to say the least, from ordering, to the customer service we received when the chair was delivered in unacceptable condition. The ONLY part of the process that was professional was the delivery. Based on our most recent experience, I would not recommend Shunks.
Buyer beware,,,They tell you want they think you want to hear, long on promise and short on delivery. Once the sale is made youre on your own. 6 weeks after our purchase they finally delivered the chair (not the own we originally ordered but we didnt want to wait another 6 weeks). When the chair finally arrived, I see that they sent us the floor model instead of the new in the box chair we were told was coming. Normally a business would knock a couple hundred off for that ( from a $2200 dollar chair).Maybe they thought we wouldnt notice or maybe they thought we were just so tired of waiting that we wouldnt say anything. They were half right, we kept the chair but Im here to let you folks know before you get involved with them. They had plenty of chances to help make things right and did not.

Beacon House is so grateful for the incredible service and support they have given us over the years, and especially recently when weve been replacing some tired old beds. Theyve been so kind! Well never be able to say enough about what great people they are, and the extraordinary quality of their furniture. Thank you, Carl Jr and all your staff (even the delivery people are fantastic!) for supporting our cause in such a significant way. You really get what it means to be a community leader!
Ordered a loveseat on July 9th at shunk furniture store on us-41 in Marquette MI. After waiting over 2 months for my lazy boy loveseat. I had to call the store for an update. Was told item would be in next week, someone would call when my item was in to schedule delivery. Over a week goes by, no call. I call and am told my item is in someone will call to set up delivery. Another week goes by, no call. I call on a Thursday. I was told my item would be delivered on Monday. Great! Not so much. Around 3:30 pm on Monday my item had not arrived. I call the store. Im questioned as to who told me my item would be delivered today? Are you sure your item has been delivered to the store? Are you sure someone wasnt going to call to let you know if your loveseat arrived at the store. We arent even delivering in your area today. What?! Lady on phone, Ill have to call you back. A couple of hours later, Brad (salesman) calls to inform me my loveseat was delivered to a store in Ohio! If I want to take the one that was delivered to their store, he will give me a great deal. Mind you, my loveseat was ordered in brown fabric. This item is dark gray. Seriously? I insist they figure out how to get my loveseat from Ohio to Marquette. They refused and said theyd have to order another one. Mind you, Im seasonal I the area and will only be here until the first or second week of November. Meaning now I wont get my item until next June. And they offer me a measly $100 for my trouble. I went to the store, looked at the floor sample. Granted it was cream color with flecks of brown and rust. It was doable. I asked how much for the floor sample, would not come down a dollar. I told Brad Id been to art van and could get the same loveseat, same fabric, two hundred dollars cheaper. Brad proceeded to call me a liar in so many words. After me trying to make a bad deal right, being called a liar, the headache, inconvenience and lack of caring for the customer, I canceled the whole deal. Got my money back. Went to art van. Ordered my loveseat. Great customer service. Over $300 cheaper after them honoring the original sale price plus 30% off. I will NEVER Ever shop at shunk furniture in Marquette again! However, I will do business with Jason at shunk furniture in Munising. He actually gives a damn about his customers! BTW, Art Van is expediting my loveseat and I should have it before I leave for winter. Thank you Art Van Furniture in Marquette for the great customer service!
We have always bought our furniture from shunk furniture I have had the same problem as others having their furniture fall apart and so has my mother. They way he treats his customers is beyond words. People need to start turning him into BBB (better business) this family knows nothing about running a business
It was a nice store, beautiful items, great wall decorations. Unfortunately there furniture lacked a wide variety of different styles. They are were within the same basic design with out slight variations. This was the shunks by Shopko. Now the shunks off hwy 41 towards Negaunee is in a different category. They have a wide and varied selection. The sales people are knowledgeable curtious and explain any and all extras, exceptions, changes and anything else I give them a 5 🌟 star. Plus they have just about anything you could want.
Sofa fell apart after one month. Asked Carl Jr or Sr to please come to the house to see it. They blew it off for six months. When I brought it up which one I would want to replace it with and I would pay any difference they ignored me. Now they claim the replacement is not available and they tried to push off another one on me. Never again
My parents bought a very expensive table Amish made and when they delivered it there was a noticeable scratch on the top they called right away and are just getting the run around!!!!My dad called numerous times first they send a guy here to only use a marker to cover it but still notice so he called again and was told whoever put middle leaf in must have scratched it well guess what your guy that delivered the table put them in !!..They seem to not fix what they did and giving my parents a BIG run around.Guess where I’m never going.Next call I told my parents to call better business bureau!
Couch fell apart after 6 months. For reference I have no kids or pets. Contacted Shunk Jr. and was blown off. They misplaced emails, faxes and phone calls for months. Ive heard both good and bad about this store. Most of the good reviews were from people who did business with them over 10 years ago. Not sure if a change in management is yielding such poor service. I wont shop there again and caution everyone I meet to take their hard earned money elsewhere.

My friend had an agreement with the owner to pay an $800 restocking fee for a couch she had purchased but did not fit in her home. The owner reneged on that agreement and then refused to return her calls. Very poor, petty customer service.
