Went to NewCastle today for Free Comic Book Day. It remains my favorite comic book shop in the St Louis area. Theres always something fun and nerdy playing on the TV in the store, and the store layout is very organized and easy to navigate. As bonuses, they have a decent selection of manga and quite a lot of board games available to purchase. The owner is incredibly nice and remembered what we talked about the last time I was there (even though it had been months since then!).

This place was recommended to me for dice selection for D&D. Was totally overwhelmed by selection of D&D manuals and ephemera. Quality customer service(although i suspect the guy who helped me wasn’t too “up on his knowledge” of MTG and such),by friendly staff. Never been there before but i felt like they were glad to see me. Cool place for sure.

Really appreciate this place! The staff, especially Darren, have a wealth of knowledge about comics. We had hundreds of comics from an old family collection and had no idea where to start. Darren was honest and offered excellent feedback on where to go from here. They have the hookup with a CGC account so they can get your comics sent off and rated. They also have several connections with folks who can press and clean comics so that your collection is worth more. If you need to sell comics, these guys give an ethical and fair price. If you need an understanding of what you’re dealing with, Darren is great to talk to. I highly recommend this store and very much appreciate the time Darren took to help us.

Newcastle Comics is the greatest comic book shop in the suburbs of Saint Louis. I drive 40 mins to this shop exclusively. Everyone at the shop is friendly and knowledgeable. Large store, tons of items to look at, great prices. Super A++++

What a great place! My 9 year old recently demonstrated an interest in Batman the animated series. We went here to get some suggestions. Not only were they able to recommend some “young reader” stuff but also informed us about classics like The Dark Knight, and Hush. Will definitely be back.

I have been to this store a few times and the experiences were nice. I am only 4 years into my weird comic obsession and like to buy local so it was cool to find somewhere close to me to support. Well, I have decided to stop to coming here because the support staff I talked to yesterday (8/21) was rude and dismissive. I called in looking for a specific issue of a comic and when we were talking about the publisher suddenly I noticed my line was dead. I called back and explained I wanted to make sure he knew I didnt hang up on him when he briskly and rudely cut me off and declared he SAID he didnt have the comic and that he had another phone call he had to get to. I worked on the phones in a medical center or a few years so I understood, though was bit perturbed he thought hanging up was the right answer here, and I went to apologize to explain that I am hard of hearing when he cut me off, said he wished me luck looking for the comic and hung up on me again. I was made to feel an a&#hole for just checking the line didnt just go dead. I apologize I have a hearing problem, but no other business has been so rude and dismissive about it before. I am thankful there are other comic book stores that are local that I can go to, because that was rude as all get out. They had a good selection, but I can find what I need elsewhere.

Great Ceasers Ghost!, found this shop by accident,and this place rocks! All the comfort of a great comic store, except it was clean,well lit,and the store clerks are friendly(lol). Honestly though-its nice to find a spot that still has dollar comics. Highly recommend!!

Love this place! I’ve been buying comic books all my life starting with a newsstand when I was young to grocery stores until I discovered comic book shops in the early 80s. As the speculator boom of the 90s destroyed the integrity of the comic shop and they folded like a house of cards few shops came out unscathed. This is a shop that truly represents the comic book aficionado without the high brow attitude. The employees are not only knowledgeable but have a love of this art form.

The shopkeeper was super kind and cool. He assisted me with picking items for a MtG Commander deck. He was super helpful with going over booster packs with me. Great place!

I have come to this store since it opened about 13-15 or so years ago. I have met amazing people here, the people who own the store have always been FANTASTIC. It really makes you feel like youre coming home by visiting the shop instead of your family. They have all sorts of card game/miniature game events and the best quality when it comes to board games and comics! They have been expanding everytime i dropped by, and are always there to help with whatever they can!

This place is wonderful. Great selection on comics and also great selection on newer comics. Great atmosphere, always have people playing cards or building models. Affordable card booster packs for collectors. If you already have a hobby and wanted new things or just starting out this is your one stop shop.

Friendly staff. Store specializes in Comics, but still had a small Manga section. I bought a series called Taboo Tattoo. Staff is friendly and wears masked due to COVID-19. VERY clean and organized which I appreciated.

I came in there earlier today and didnt quite know what I was looking for. Even at the counter and before purchasing my items, the staff there are fully committed to helping you make the proper investment as far as comics and your preferences. Also everything is beautifully organized and rast to pull out and examine. Definitely going back soon

I love this comic book store, huge selection. The smell of comic books hits me in the face as soon as I walk in this place. Grand selection of back issues. I havent been disappointed yet. The also have comic storage items like top loaders and thicker bags and boards if you prefer more protection than standard bags and boards and comic boxes.If you like comic books you will love this place. Some people mention they are kinda pricey, but I think they are comparable to online prices, as far as back issues are concerned and they are in good shape. I have been collecting comics since 1989 and I go here mostly to add to my collection.

Love this store. The owner/workers are all really nice, knowledge hammers themselves so they can answer any question you have. Totally approachable. This place has a wide selection of comics, graphic novels and manga. Additionally they have a huge selection of tabletop games from boardgames to card games and miniature figurine role playing games. This store is a must visit if youre a comic book nerd, gamer, or collector.

Hidden comic and game haven! I happened to walk in after having dinner next door one night. This place is awesome. If youre into comics, RPGs, card based games, or just anything in that realm of interest you should check it out if youre in the area. Everything appeared well organized. This is a small, family run game/comic store that has grown and evolved into what it is today. The store will cater to most game geek needs with options like tabletop, board game, model intensive games, and of course, comics and figurines, statues and busts. The owner and his sons can be found behind the counter and will greet you with a warm welcome and any assistance they can offer posthaste. Dont be afraid to give Newcastle a try.

The staff was very knowledgeable and super helpful. The selection of comics, books, and collectibles was extensive. They had a large area set aside for playing games like magic, pathfinder, or AD&D. We spent several hours there exploring it all.

This store is amazing! I went in looking for Magic: The Gathering cards, and was blown away with the amount of selection and the organization was incredible! I wish that I only lived closer, as I may be there more than I was at home. This store is an absolute must visit.

Its small looking shop, but it has a lot of content for every comic book fanatic and table top gamer there is out there. I love Dungeons and Dragons and I have found so many things I would love to add to my collection. I highly recommend this store to everyone!

Couldnt be more pleased with the atmosphere, inventory, and customer service at Newcastle Comics and Games!This store is always dependable, friendly, and ethical. You can easily tell the owner and staff are passionate and informed about comics! Ive shopped lots of comic shops and I find that in St. Louis- I get the absolute fairest deals at Newcastle. Really good discounts on weekly books and cool store events! In trades with the owner-Ive sometimes felt guilty I got TOO good of a deal for a hot wall book. I definitely have no regrets about driving a couple extra miles to get my loot there, and Ive never felt sorry for spending cash there,as these guys seem more like friends than business owners ! My highest possible recommendation.Keep it up!

Nice local game and comic shop! They offer graphic novels, manga, lots of ccgs and board games, as well as figures and comics! They offer magic drafting games often. Employees are always helpful and friendly too!

Great selection of role playing and board games and comics

The atmosphere seems very charged, with a very competitive scene for TCGs. I was very happy with the experience for both comics and MTG singles, as the employees quickly helped me find things in their massive inventory. The only complaint I have is that some of their cards are a little overpriced, but overall it is a shop I would visit if in the area again

The guys at this shop helped steer my family away from less child friendly stuff and even pointed out a great great graphic novel science book for my son that fit what we wanted without us really knowing what we were looking for.

Great for comics. And magic the gathering. But I was looking for Yu-Gi-Oh. The Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon representation was little to none.

Needs the option for more stars, an absolute wonder. This place has all the things you need to MTG it up for days. Not to mention a nice place to play in the store. Comics galore along with other RPG games and collectibles.

This is always a great place to go for the latest comics and thousands of back issues as well.

My home away from home. Good stock, extremely friendly staff who know their stock, gaming space for use, not much of anything more I could ask for.

Steve is a fantastic owner who knows the right distance between being helpful and overbearing. He allows you your space to browse and peruse but is always available to help. This is by far the cleanest gaming shop I have ever been to. The place is spotless and presentable. While it looks small from the outside, the store is able to accommodate a good number of people (I would guess 20+) for gaming. The atmosphere is pretty good, a lot of the guys and girls there play regularly and get along. Sometimes it can be a little daunting as a new player, but if you go regularly youll feel the community vibes. Prices can sometimes be on the high side, pack selection, and older set selection can be rather limited, but its still far superior to any other gameshop in the St. Louis area

Went to Newcastle a few days ago for the first time. It was close to where I work and I needed to kill some time over lunch.I have fairly high expectations of my comic shops, and Newcastle exceeded them. It was much bigger on the inside than the exterior lets on, was well lit and had an excellent selection of comics (both TPBs and single issues).Steve (or at least Im guessing who it was), was friendly and helpful. I appreciated that he didnt hover while I looked through their selections, stopping by only to mention that they are putting on a comic-con in a couple weeks at Westport.I would highly recommend this shop to those interested in the comic medium.
