Fun place to explore. Comic books, graphic novels, D&D, Funky Pops, and board games. Please chaperone your children, though, as there are some comics that are inappropriate (IMHO). I picked up one that contained nudity and explicit scenes. Discretion advised.

Went for the first time yesterday. Let me say that the level of professionalism was outstanding! The staff was incredibly friendly, and very helpful. They sought me out to see if I needed help with anything. The store was very clean and very organized. The sheer amount of back issues they have is incredible. Overall, I was very impressed with this comic book shop and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area. If you are out of the area, it is certainly worth the drive.

We love going in this store. They have a little bit of everything here. They remember who we are, which is saying something because we only go there 2 times a year! (When we are in town). Great staff.

If I was grading on atmosphere alone it would be a four maybe a five however the bait and switch mentality lower the score quite a bit when you collect comics you are always looking for a needle in a haystack with that being said when you go in they tell you that the books are all cover price unless they are marked differently so after spending several hours looking through all the books you come up to the register with your pile of books as they scan the books the price changes dramatically their reasoning is they havent had a chance to mark them up yet well not my fault. you paid the low cover price and now youre trying to get eBay price which is understandable if you market but if you didnt market and you should have honored the price and this occurred over and over and over during the transaction by the end I was so tired and aggravated that I will never be back

Really, really nice store. The building is absolutely beautiful! There was a lady working the day I came here. She was a bit shy but friendly. The store is decently well organized and pretty clean. Id probably shop here more if it wasnt an hour away from me.

THE place to go for comics and collectibles. Great staff and lots of stuff. All that on top of a great D&D set up for adults and kids!

I live in Knoxville and traded with other shops over the 30 yrs of collecting, but David and his wife are SUPER nice to me everytime I visit. LOTS of variety in comics, clean store, graded books, figures, and cool personalities. This has became my favorite store and always worth the 30 mile drive from my home.

Amazing selection of new comics. Massive selection of back issues. A room dedicated to graded comics! Plus there were many other collectibles. The building and its history is almost worth the trip to this shop alone. Also the owners are wonderful. I will definitely be back!

This place was amazing. I would say I am an above average comic person, and this place did not disappoint. It has stuff for casual to hard core fans, comics, cards, collectibles etc. A diamond in the rough for sure. And best of all reasonable prices to go with a huge collection of comics! Very organized and staff is super nice and helpful! Well worth a visit!

I LOVE IT! 🔥🔥🔥 I walked in with my two little girls, honestly not knowing much about the comic book scene (yet😜). They didn’t judge my ignorance, and went out of their way to show us around the store and treated us like fam. I’ve already been back and plan to visit often.

Awesome Comic store

Nice big comic shop near my families original home town, must be pretty new because Ive never seen it here before. Beautiful interior space looking pretty organized but during my visist it appeared they were doing some reorganizing. Great selection of back issues. My only real hang up was that all books were not marked with a price, and some of the prices were marked wrong, as I found out when I went to check out. But it looked like they were probably going through and marking them, but this made it hard to compare their prices to other shops or find deals. Love the custom wood boxes the books were in, much nicer than the cardboard boxes most places use. Also liked that the dividers between titles were marked from both sides. So many books! Loved that I didnt see any boxes that were off limits, all the products in the store appeared to be for sale. It can be confusing when there are items not for sale out among the rest of the stuff. Lots of graded books on display were nice to look at. Great selection of vintage toys, the GIJoe stuff was awesome. Very nice inventory of comic stuff here, thanks for having me in your shop!

I Love Going To The Golden Age 1942. They Are Always Willing To Help You Find What You Need. Theyre Kind Fun To Be Around. They Also Sell Just About Everything You Need For Dungeons & Dragons. If There Is An Item They Dont Have Then They Are More Than Happy To Order That Item For You If They Can. I Will Continue Going To The Golden Age And Giving Them My Business.

While I enjoy a few comic book stores in Knoxville,none of them,and I mean none of them compare to the quality of Maryvilles Golden age! Hands down, they have the best selection of back issues, almost anything you can think of! Of course they have all the new stuff, even the obscure comics(which is what Im about). They ask you your favorite genre of music when you walk in and ask Alexa to play that genre! How cool is that?! Yes I do enjoy browsing comics while listening to hair metal!

Great shop. This place is fantastic. From the historical building it occupies to the staff, the books everything. The one thing I would like to see them do is expand their indie title back issues. I collect Starslayer and Grimjack and have never seen an issue of either in store.

A truly great place. I take the kids with me and we get our favorite comics and get to enjoy the other games and stuff that they have. The owners, Dave and Stephanie, are such nice people, along with being VERY knowledgeable.

I’ve spent $200+ at this store when there were obviously cheaper options online. i wanted to support this small business in my city.So onto my complaint. I was wanting to return some items that I wasn’t happy with and I was meet with uncomfortable remarks about the quality of my books. The quality of the books were stellar seeing as I bought them 5 days prior and left them in my room while i was working. Their excuse for not taking it back was that I could have copied the book and returned it. If that was my goal then why am I a long time returning customer? There weren’t even willing to work with me on giving me store credit or anything.I will never purchase from this venue again.

The Golden Age is Ana amazing shop where they make you feel like family! The staff is eager to help with anything they can and give great suggestions. The only comic book store for me!

This was my first visit to the store was incredibly impressive. It is extremely varied selection of comics. And their graphic novel choices were a geeks dream come true. Im glad they are expanding to give more room to such a great store.

Went into this shop this week once more to give it a second chance ; and I won’t return. While I’ve been visiting since the opening .... The attitude of their cashier girl, yet again, was a turn off. Rude... short ... ‘know it all’ & acted bothered with any questions. I will return to the more fun, open minded friendly stores in the area.

This place perfectly nails the nostalgia of comic shops in the 70s. The buildings history alone is fascinating in its own right. If you like comics from a shop that cares about its customers, The Golden Age 1942 is for you.

This is what a comic book store is supposed to be like. Friendly people, huge inventory and a lot of fun to just look at all the different stuff. Comics, toys, statues, Pops, CGC comics, etc. If youre in the area I suggest stopping by and checking it out. A+

Selection is nice, but a little pricey. Found a promotional comic for 25 cents, but it rang up as over two dollars. When I asked the reason for the price difference I was told it was a reprint. She had to ask another employee to clarify the situation. In the end I got it for the correct price.

My daughter and I ( she is 7 ) came in to look at your comics and you showed my daughter your kids section, gave her some ideas, and gave her a few free comics to read. We both enjoyed the experience and will be there every Saturday. Thanks again!

A few friends and I are playing a game of Dungeons and Dragons there. The owners are very nice and helpful and host D&D, Pathfinder, and Magic the Gathering in their game rooms for no cost (as of writing this review). They have snacks and comics, as well as RPG resources and a couch. Great little place.

I Love this place!!! Makes Maryville so much more colorful and full of life and imigination. I consider this a destination of the area!

This was by far one of the best comic book shop experiences Ive ever had. The people on staff were super helpful (get it?) and took the time to help me when I needed to find something. They also left me to shop in peace when I wanted to. The retail space is large and has a good selection of comics (new and back issues), trade paperbacks, figures and other collectibles. There are a couple of gaming rooms in the back for you Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh!, D&D types. David, the owner, is a great guy. Hes very proud of his shop and the history behind the building. I wont give any spoilers, ask him yourself if hes there when you go in. Tell him Jake sent you.
