I LOVE THE FOOD FROM THIS PLACE.THE PEOPLE WORK THERE ARE HARD WORKING AND VERRYKIND.The prices are very reasonable and alot of food for the price.Give it a try you will not beot disapointed.
The Susie Q’s cheeseburgers put the CHEESE back in CHEESEburger! Both kinds of cheese, white AND yellow, covered my burger in marbled bliss. Some had even caramelized on the griddle, providing a crunchy smooth addition to the tasty textures. I instantly detected a uniquely seasoned beef patty upon my first chomp, and I finished my meal most, a most satisfied customer. I guess all I can say is, these ladies know what they’re flipping down at Susie Q Cafe.
Been trying to get A tenderloin here for months. Signs on the bldg and web postings indicated it would now be open. Still closed! Starting to wonder if it will ever open. Food was fantastic under previous owners. Hope they open soon. Sorry cant give it any stars yet, must try it again first.
Had a delicious pork tenderloin sandwich, fries and Sioux City root beer today at Suzie Qs. Friendly service and atmosphere. While we were waiting for our order a veteran came in to order lunch. Suzy Qs wait staff came outside, took his order, and carried lunch out to him. They showed kindness and compassion in the way they waited on a disabled veteran with prosthetic limb and crutches.
Had a cheeseburger and fries and they were both delicious. The best I’ve had in a long time. The bun, patty, cheese and pickles were all too notch!
Drove to Iowa from NY, and honestly it would have been worth it just for this meal.Such a friendly place, and food to stay alive for! 💚 I wish I was local!
Thee diner to beat in North Iowa. Go for the tenderloin and you wont be disappointed. And make sure to order plenty of fries.

Great place for a casual meal. Breakfast is great. Lunch was great. Owner is a fun guy. Ask him to do little magic for you. Place is small but worth a wait to eat in a piece of history. If your looking for gourmet dinner you should try northwest steakhouse.

My wife and I drove the couple of hours from Minneapolis to meet a friend from Grinnell here. What a great choice.The owner and his 17-year-old son provided us with great service, food, and laughs. We learned the diner is a Valentine building and one of only eight left in the world, it opened in 1948, and he’s the eighth owner. He has a real passion for his work and clearly loves to make people happy.Suggestion: buy a hand pull French fry cutter that you mount to a wall and a bunch of potatoes. You’ll have the best, homemade fries in the area, can charge more for them, and they’re cheaper than frozen fries. Maybe the same idea with the onion rings.My wife had the battered cod special, I had the pork tenderloin sandwich, and our friend the everything hash browns, which had veggies, eggs, and homemade salsa. We were all very happy.The owner did a few magic tricks for us when he had a few minutes. He’s quite the showman. Perfect personality for serving diners at a counter and some magic. He was also quite proud of his city and encouraged us to see the local music club that Buddy Holly played just before dying in a plane crash and the Frank Lloyd Wright Hotel.We will definitely be back!!

Great little cafe to stop and get a bite! Quick service, fun and cozy atmosphere. It is quite small, so dont plan on bringing in a group of 20, but its awesome for what it is.

The place is rather small, but adds to the charm of the place. The people working there were entertaining and the food was good. Got the tenderloin and it was really good, there is a reason thats what they are known for.

This place is great. I googled them to look up hours to see if they are open today so I could go after church and noticed some idiot put a review that should not be there. It is not unclean or run down. It is historically preserved. The owner got grant money to do so I believe and he has to keep it historically accurate. It is an awesome, albeit small, intimate, fun place! And the food is seriously is great! Its a great place for a quick bite and some good conversation. Because its a counter style, you can talk with others as much or as little as you want, but I have run into all kinds of folks from top government to local disabled there; I love it! And the owner will do magic tricks for you if you like; thats his other job. The food is cooked in front of you old style from scratch, and theres plenty of it; good sautéed veggies, good real cheeses, great sauces, etc. I just to take a second to hopefully in part undo someones incorrect review.Oh, and I just noticed the picture that comes along with these reviews on google is quite old and not what it looks like anymore since the owner has restored it.
Not sure what to rate this because it was not open at 10AM on a Wednesday morning. Would have loved to experience it, but we didnt see a gone fishin or closed sign. Our desk clerk said she thought it had been closed for a few days but didnt know why.

The food is amazing, while the decor isnt the best, Troy Levenhagen makes up for it with his amazing food and service. The prices are a little expensive, but worth it when you get the taste, and if you go to the First Baptist Church with him, you get free drinks!
