Only gripe is that the ammo is over-priced but when you can’t get ammo literally anywhere right now i guess it’s ok for the time being .

I have lived in Massapequa for more than 50 years and I did not know there was a gun shop so close to my house.I paid a little more than I have seen the same gun advertised everywhere else but I guess convenience has a price.People were nice, large selection of firearms, overall a good experience.Purchased the gun and walked out in less than one hour.

My favorite gun store on Long Island. I’ve been to about 6-7 of the main ones and these guys are the most helpful and have a huge selection and don’t make you feel out of place which I find a lot of gun stores do. Even in 2020 these guys had ammo and pretty much anything you could want. They will point you in the right direction. I will be back!

Extremely friendly staff. Even though they were swamped I had multiple employees assisting me on my order and they were organized and efficient. Chivalry is far from dead at this place. I needed a lower end receiver for a gun I’m building, I waited in line outside in the rain like everyone else. Somehow they found out I was pregnant, and told me to come inside right away. I stayed and waited my turn like everyone else. When I went inside, I was told to never wait outside again, and had the best customer service ever. It’s been 48 hours since my visit and I can’t stop thinking about how crazy this world is right now, and how these 3 men in this shop all cared so much that not only I was female, but pregnant and wanted me inside. It honestly brings tears to my eyes that there are still true gentlemen out there, and they took such great care of me. Thank you all so much, it means more to me than you’ll ever ever ever know.

I walked in to buy a box of ammo and get my hunting license,I’ve never gone there without being told it’s 30 to 40 minute wait for hunting license or extra doe tags.It would’ve been fine if that was true that the machines were down but that’s not what we were told.

I have been dealing with Mark and his staff for years. They always have a great selection new/ used guns, good prices, and pleasant vibe at the shop. I always look for a gem in the used section and most of the time I have found something the will fill my wants/needs. They often have the the newest and hottest release. I recommend stopping by and giving them a once over.

This place has the typical aura of a gun store, as expected. Employees who dont look up from what theyre doing to greet you, and give you short, one word answers. I was looking for a new grip for my AK, and even specificed NY compliant in what I said(because they get nervous when you dont specify), and all I got was a rude nope. Not a we can order that or were out of stock or can I help you find something else but just a nope. Store also looks overpriced as hell. Ill stick to TNT and south shore.

Where do I begin? Ive been going to Hunter Sports for many years. They were okay for a simple purchase. Just okay. If you;re looking for service, there is none. Good luck trying to call them about your order or some firearm you try to transfer from other States. Yes, I had two bad experiences with somethings I ordered. They were just simple transactions. When I tried to call them to inquire about them, they just didnt care or always too busy to talk to you. If youre looking to go to this store, be warned they would try to sell you something they dont have so dont order anything. Better yet, find a store that has better customer service.

Wanted to take the time to write a review. Starting out can be hard and somewhat intimidating, and Adam made me feel comfortable even with my ignorance of almost everything gun and rifle. I met him through a friend and heard he worked there. I looked up some of the reviews and Im glad it was him - I by chance - ended up starting with, especially after reading through the other reviews here. He is most helpful and knowledgeable, but he is also the only person there Ill talk to because it can be intimidating being a newbie, and with things like this Its good to keep things local. Needed a specific handgun. Adam went out of his way to find the exact firearm and overnight ship it so I would have it asap. Hunter is the only place Ill give my business. Any questions go in and ask for Adam hell help you with anything you need.

All ready to walk out with my new gun and got denied. Even though Mark was running all over the place and on the phone running a business when Al gave the bad news to me Mark stopped what he was doing and got on the phone with the NICS section. Argued the situation for about 30 minutes and gave me all the information I needed for the appeal. Four days later Mark called me and told me to come pick up my gun, the denial was reversed. It seems my identity got somehow merged with a federal convicted felon. Mark and Al really went above and beyond to satisfy a customer when they could have easily just said sorry, take it up with the FEDS and moved on to the next customer.

As a relatively new pistol licensee (and woman), I was understandably apprehensive about initially walking into a macho and testosterone-filled gun dealer on my own. From my initial contact with Adam over the phone to being personally picked up at the train station, my experience at Hunter Sports was nothing short of outstanding. In addition to making sure I was comfortable, Adam and Mark armed me with something even more important….the knowledge to select the best firearm possible for my needs. While there are certainly other reputable gun dealers locally, the customer service at Hunter Sports is what makes them unique and sets them apart in my mind from competitors. Ive been going here for a few years, but Im lousy with actually leaving reviews. This last time going however, I feel I have to. In the last 2 weeks Ive actually purchased two firearms; one for my job and one for my personal use. Both times I found the sales clerks to be both extremely knowledgeable as well as patient.In the first instance Jason answered not only all my questions pertaining to my firearm (a Springfield XDS), but went on to answer any and all questions about shooting ranges in the Nassau County area he might recommend as well as holsters and differing opinions on future acquisitions. (He also knows his fountain pens)In the second, Mark was most patient in dealing with my back and forth over what handgun to get next. See I had my heart set on a Colt Delta Elite, but have heard a lot of good things about the CZ 75 Shadow 2. I didnt realize they actually had one in stock and asked to get a feel for it. Well I convinced myself that I wanted the Colt and ordered it from the warehouse. Then on my way home the thought of the Shadow 2 wormed its way into my brain and less than 30 minutes later I called back and asked if I could cancel my order for the Colt and get the Shadow instead. He was extremely well mannered and dealt with my indecision better than I probable would have and that day I walked away with a purchase I was very comfortable with. (Note: this has nothing to do with the Colt, it is a fantastic gun and it will be mine one day but the work I want to put into it just wasnt in the budget this year.)Anyway, long post but I did promise I would leave a good review and given how much of a pain I was I feel it was deserved. 5 stars all around

I have to say, I have been to many gun shops recently and Hunter is, hands down, the best shop on long island!My husband and I were looking for our first gun and we had a lot of questions and didnt really know much of anything. The guys at Hunter took the time to show us different guns and they answered all of our questions. Plus, as a woman I felt very comfortable with them, they didnt speak down to me, I was treated with the same respect all of the other customers were treated with.I highly recommend them, they have a wide selection of guns, rifles, accessories, etc...and what they didnt have they will get for you, and their prices are very reasonable.

They are very busy store people going in have to know they get like a few dozen phone calls every minute . Dave and his staff is doing their best to help everyone. They called in my application in stead of put it in the normal way threw the computer . I got my reply in 4 days I got me a Benille M4 and lwrc Ic Di ar15 with a red/green dot optic plus they put the scope on my Rugar 10/22 plus a tactical flash light on my Winchester SXP . The Ruger 10/22 was priced well, and came with everything I needed. While I was waiting for the transaction to complete I was able to handle a very cool gun that was on display. I have been dealing with HS for years now and the only reason it’s been years it’s because of the following : Service / knowledge / expertise advice / customer appreciation and fair pricing for all the above. Yes there is cheaper pricing online but I’d rather go to a place and speak to people who can help me vs ordering online and not getting what I really want or sending you used stuff (I guess you can say you get what you pay for). They have an amazing selection of guns, don’t pressure you / or make you feel like your taking up too much of their time or feel like you just interrupted their behind the counter employee to employee conversation. These guys are fun to deal with and if they don’t have something in stock they don’t try to sell you what they have as they have no issues ordering what you want. The only negative comment is that I wish they were opened Sunday but I’ll deal with that. Love my new CZ75 P01 I just got from them as well.

I didnt grow up hunting so when I wanted to get into the sport I went and did my research and visited shops all over the island. Hands down Hunter Sports has the best selection of both new and used long guns and the best customer service. I didnt pretend to know much and Adam took the time to show and explain to me anything I asked about (the store was very busy that day too and he probably spent close to a half hour helping me). Not once did he pressure me to buy anything he showed me. Adam told me the pros and cons to everything I looked at and eventually helped me find the one that fit all my needs at a great price. I would highly recommend going to Hunter and asking for Adam. He really goes out of his way, no matter who you are, to make you feel like you are the only person in the store and not once made me feel pressured to buy something I really wasnt sure about.

Came here to get some ammo and I was told to hold on while someone checks for it. I waited a long time while several employees were just shooting the $h*t with each other. After about 20 minutes I just left. Its so sad to see another Long Island gun shop where customer service and friendly staff are non-existent.I would recommend everybody to go to Hunter Essentials in Albertson. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

I went to purchase a Glock 26 and my entire experience took maybe 10 minutes..when I was going to leave the store the sky’s opened up and it started to pour rain like a monsoon..the owner of the store personally walked me and my girlfriend to my car holding an umbrella over our heads, that’s customer service at its finest!
