Its the nicest jcp store in Matthews NC much better than mall locations not as big but still had a good selection. As of the closing sale, there was nothing left huge clothing for men no much name brand items all sold out before 3pm Saturday. By the way the heavyset AA manager lady has the worst attitude ever with customers.

Its an ok place. Since they are going out of business, the picking were slim. But I did come out with a few good items.

This store is a complete train wreck. Completely aggravated about the lack of care taken by staff to keep a pleasant shopping experience. The clothes are a mess the shoes are a mess. Its just terrible.

The store is closing and everything is currently marked 60-80% off. There is still a lot left. HOWEVER they have put new price stickers over the old barcodes and marked everything up higher than the original price. Dont believe me? Find an item and look it up on the JC Penny website. I bet you the store sticker price will be double what you find online.

I visited this JC Penney and was displeased. I checked out at the online pickup area because there was only one person in line, the cashier is smacking on gum and talking between pops of her gum ... totally disgusting and not very customer friendly. She finally finishes ringing up my items and I leave them I get to the door and the sensors left on one of the items goes off! Now everyone is looking at me. The lady that rang up my items is now at the front counter and she signals me that Im good to go and I go on. But I check my items again and there was a sensor on one of my items. Had to go back so that it could be removed

This is why you lose more and more to online, hire some people to answer questions and ring folks up. Holiday season and you have 2 employees at checkout. If I didnt really need what I purchased just then I would have walked out, but this will help me remember not to walk back in. Custom service in nonexistent in stores these days, back to Amazon.

I love this location. Ms. Ora is very helpful at check out and all other sales associates on the floor are ready to answer any questions you may have. I visited Sephora while there and purchased some perfume. The young lady that helped me there was very kind as well.

I went into Sephora and the woman who helped me was really amazing. Listened to my wants and picked the right products for me. She was friendly, helpful, and funny! So glad she was there for my sister and me to help us pick the right products we wanted.

Great prices and awesome staff. I got hurt getting out my car in the parking lot and they came making me feel better to stop the bleeding and asked if I want to go to the hospital. And it wasnt their fault about the situation. They made me feel comfortable about my situation. Love them all.

The managers working on the floor didn’t care for guide me where things were located. Once I got into the Sephora department was a different experience. The ladies working at the time are amazing. One of them took the time to go over different products for a gift I was looking.

This JCP is recently remodeled and its very well stocked and organized. They have really nice restrooms even a family restroom will a place to nurse. The employees were so very nice! Just overall a pleasant store with well thought out layout you can actually push a stroller around in. You can tell this manager has a good team.

Prices too high to be going out of business

I havent been here in FOREVER... and now I regret it.. bc I came across some steals.. I know they have closed several stores over the years but their selection has really improved and their prices were awesome..

I like the clothes in the store, however the returns location is inconvenient. Sometimes, you just want to run in and return. Here you have to go midway into the store, up the escalator and find the returns counter

The online experience is atrocious! I order 6 pairs of boots... because there was an amazing sale (buy 1 get 2 free) they sent the lower cost boots but the 3 pairs of higher cost boots havent been delivered to the store (1 says its ready for pick up for 4 days but the store says that it hasnt been checked in- I believe they will eventually say - we had to cancel it because the boots werent picked). When I called to the online dept I was told that the order may have to be canceled and reorder but the price couldnt be guaranteed - they still have the shoes in stock because they are selling it at a higher price but they dont want to honor the sale price of which they have already charged my card as of 10/14. No one in the store or online has been any help. I will gladly drive to get the boots but it seems that JCPENNEY has done the bait and switch. Totally disappointed!

Went to purchase diamond earrings, but there was no one who greeted us, asked if we needed any help, or even looked remotely interested in assisting. We waited at the jewelry counter wondering if the one lady who was behind the counter, but helping someone with a return was going to ever figure out how to even process the return! She finally relented & called someone, but not to help us, it was to help her! And he came right out, walked right past us & didnt even bother to ask if we needed anything, & I know that have cameras & could see that we were waiting! But no worries! I damn shol didnt & will Never step foot or spend a dime of my money in jcp!

Wow! Was I disappointed with this store! There was virtually no one around to ask questions and get help. The clothes quality was cheap and one of the pieces I tried on was soiled! I promptly removed the garment, walked it back to the rack and left the store without encountering an employee to share my concerns. Frustrating....

I had not actively shopped at JCP for a while, slipping into the online habit. This will change, tonight I stopped in and was helped by Lynn and Lindsey, they were wonderful. Lynn helped me put a suit, shirt, tie and shoes together for an important event. Will definitely look here first from now on!

Nice store, great location, wonderful deals. They had clearance items in which an additional 50-60% was being taken off at the register. I like shopping here due to the large selection & great prices.

It was nice. I got some really good deals in the big and tall section.

I also will NEVER purchase from J.C. Penneys again. Its a shame that you have a price match guarantee and you will not honor your OWN online price from JCPenney.com! Not only was the manager extremely unhelpful, when I called the customer service line to ask someone why they wouldnt honor it, they hung up on me. Totally unacceptable and no wonder your business is failing. Treat your customers with respect. It also would be a good idea to treat your employees with respect since apparently they think its ok to hang up on loyal customers. Absolutely appalling!!!!

This location had few new items for sale (mostly leftovers from previous seasons in odd sizes). The stock in the mens department was disorganized. Ive shopped at better Pennys in the past.

Every time I come to this store, I am hard pressed to find an associate to help me if I need it. I have to bring the item or my questions to the front register. There is usually only 1 or 2 people on register which makes for a long line. The people working the register have always been friendly and helpful even tho they are put into a difficult position with customers who can get frustrated with the lack of staff here . It often feels like the store is abandoned until I get to the front register. I grew up shopping at JCPenney and miss the way it used to be.
