Not a $75 golf course BUT we paid a premium for a pre-noon tee time on a Sunday. If all the holes were in as good a condition as #17 I would give it a higher rating. Many of the tee boxes were like cement trying to get the peg into the ground. Greens overall were good. Holes 13-18 are the best on the course. The new clubhouse and Turn are very good and an excellent place for a post round libation.

Overall a very enjoyable experience. People were friendly and the course is fine. Back nine was challenging.

The course is laid out in an excellent manner. The greens how ever…less then good. For eighty dollars a head I would expect bent grass to be in great shape. The amount of mutation and dead spots throws putting lines off by almost a foot in either direction. Stay away from the bunkers! If you find yourself in the sand (if you can call it that) it is either like hitting off of I-77 or hitting through a rainforest. The course is not worth the price while the club house and golf shop may deceive you, no money is being spent on course upkeep.

Priced way too high for the shape this golf course is in. Greens are rough, have fungus, and are over watered.Would not recommend this course to anyone.

Played July 10th.... First off, this course is over priced for what it is.... It is not worth almost $80 for a Saturday morning tee time. Red Bridge, Eagle Chase, Monroe CC are all with in 30 minutes, are cheaper and in better condition. That being said, the fairways and tee boxes were in pretty good (not great) shape, greens were OK (a little shaggy but rolling ok). The sand traps were AWFUL. They appear not to have been maintained for a long time.... They were hard, many full of water and drainage marks. In addition there were no rakes, so foot prints everywhere. Also, despite COVID restrictions lifted, there were no ball washer or water coolers anywhere (other courses in the area have them out now). The staff (pro shop / ranger / food service) were all nice and helpful. Unfortunately, this will be my last time playing there until leadership at the course figures out what it is going to be..... A true premiere course where the conditions justify $80+ or public course in so-so condition that costs $45.

First time back at this course in over a year and was very disappointed. I have fond memories of really amazing greens here but sadly those days seem long gone. The greens were long, firm and looking very tired. The tee boxes were badly beat up. Massive potholes and cracks in the cart paths.Most unforgivable though was the overflowing trash cans next to almost every tee box. Number 11 was particularly bad as the trash was spilling out and blowing across the fairway. That was the biggest sign to me that this course has stopped caring and stopped trying.Won’t be back any time soon

Beautiful venue and some great spots around golf course for pictures! We recently photographed Amanda & Philips wedding here. The staff provided our couple with golf carts. They really take care of their clients and photographers.

I would implore you to disregard the negative reviews from some on here from the last 2 or 3 months. They must work at some of the competing golf courses in the area. Haha. Everything at this course is in excellent shape and worth the new rates.

They have let the range and practice area fall apart. I bought a bucket and actually just left it the range was so bad. Its a sad day when i have to go to the divide over emerald lakes. They need to add a row of mats for when the grass needs time. The practice green was in bad shape as well. I did not go on the course but it looked like a 25 dollar course from what i seen. This is usually in much better shape.

Brunch was fantastic @ Lake View Tavern. Food, drinks and service were great especially the views on this sunny morning. Cant wait for it to be spring and eat outside on the terrace.

Great course, wide open, very challenging, and the greens are quick as anything! Definitely will play again and hopefully get my score under a 100 this time 😂😭😵

Overpriced and in bad shape... especially the greens.

This is a great course, for the most part the fairways are open and straight away. The entire course looks great but there are 4 or 5 really beautiful holes. The greens werent in great condition, which surprised me for the cost of a round, but other than that it was a great place to play. It also isnt extremely challenging but you will probably use all of your clubs, you cant got the same shot every hole.

This is a decent course and great for beginners. However, it is absolutely overpriced. If youre going to play on a weekend and spend $72, you might as well spend $8 more and go to Ballantyne. $45 for twilight rates are absurd, and to top that, there is ZERO discount for walkers (which is wild considering they promote distancing but also had an extra fee tonride alone).Again, nice course, but not at these new prices.

The course was absolutely outstanding! It was our first time playing. We will certainly play again. We really enjoyed the staff!

Not the best course in the area but the prices are still high. Same price to walk as it is to ride? Greens are dying out and no one seems to want to fix a ball mark. The bar is nice and the food is good but the course could be much better.

I had a horrible experience at Emerald Lake golf club this Monday afternoon. Right off the baton the second hole, I was yelled at by a staff member to stop driving on the fairway, however there were no signs saying I couldnt. Throughout the round, the various staff members that I ran into were extremely rude and seem to only care about money and the condition of their course rather than customer satisfaction. I will never be golfing here again and if you are looking for a fun enjoyable golf experience, I recommend you go somewhere else.

Loved the bar area. If you go there, ask for Amanda, she is the best! Drinks were made to perfection and service was top notch! What a breath of fresh air.

The two young men managing the pro shop were condescending and patronizingly rude on the morning of Sunday, April 19th. Also, the course seems to be price gouging in comparison to the other courses I visit in Charlotte and surrounding area. At $70, there are much better options out there. The course was far from being in a condition to ask this much $$. I had been looking forward to playing here, expecting much more, but it was completely disappointing. Advice, get some new people up front and price the course at a fair market $45 price, and Id consider coming back. I did like the layout.

Price Gouging at its best!TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE TRYING TO BE SAFE. Charging $7 extra for those trying use social distancing by riding alone in cart. They charged me the same rate, $35 for senior regardless if I walked or rode in a cart and then wanted to tack on the extra $7 for single in a cart. No other course in the region is upcharging for singles in a cart.No concession for freshly punched greens or Cart path due to soggy fairways.Shame on you for taking advantage of the unfortunate situation. I guess you have to pay for that new club house some kind of way and even if that is at the cost of poor customer service I hope that when the word get around that people stop patronizing the course.

Although the greens and fairways are above average the rough just off the greens and fairways are so long I had to step on the ball to find it. Lost 4 balls within 5-6 feet of greens/fairways. Makes for very slow play. And its not even summer yet.

Awesome golf course

Technically I shouldn’t rate the course yet, because I have not played there yet. I will be down in the general area, from NJ for 10 days, mid April until 30th 2020... I’ve read the reviews & completely appreciate the owners responses to the posted reviews. Obviously they care, for that reason alone I did give 4 stars & I’ll make sure to go out of my way to visit & play the course.I can’t wait .... see you in the Spring.

Weve been playing the Charlotte MAD (Medic) tournament here now for about 7 years, and Chris and the staff take EXCELLENT care of us. Course is always in great shape, even with all the rain from Florence lately. Greens rolled true and rough is higher but not too penal. Highly recommended!

Very well manicured and enjoyable course. Not overally difficult but will be challenging enough for skilled players. A little confusion finding holes 1 and 10 but other than that, a very nice afternoon and round of golf. Rates are varied depending on deals you can find but nothing exorbitant. ** 8/22 Update** just played again and the course is still in excellent shape. Played a 4pm twilight 18 for about $25 which included cart. Great rate and course for a spontaneous round of golf.

Beautiful course but it retains a lot of water as youll see by the huge fans on several holes which at times can make your short game and putting a challenge. Last time I went the greens were not in great shape. Remember to fix your divots people!

Usually well kept golf course off I-485 near Matthews, NC. Tees for all abilities. Challenging course for the 15 and higher handicap players. New Pro Shop. New lunch counter in New Meeting and Reception Center. Lunch Service is slow, so order ahead on the 9th tee. Array of beer and liquor is offered. Ample parking. Pro golf lessons available.

The course is fun, but if you cannot find a way to get a solo golfer out after 4p two weeks in a row, then you refund the rain check that they cant use. It wasnt a full tee sheet and most everybody has to drive 30 minutes to get to the public courses. This would have required leaving your swivel chair for less than 1 minute and would have resulted in a 13 dollar refund. Pretty smug bud.

They clearly take pride in keeping a well maintained and well organized golf course. Staff was friendly and professional. Greens were fast and in very good shape. The course has a great mix of challenging and forgiving holes for all skill levels to enjoy. A fun track to play and reasonably priced.

We had our company Annual Employee Appreciation Event at this venue and they all rocked the service and Ilos Noche food was over the top. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue for your parties or company events. Plaza Appliance Mart will be back. Thanks staff

Enjoyed playing the course. Bent grass greens were struggling a bit and other than the fact that no one seemed to repair their ball marks. They were very playable. New carts were nice.

I am giving this course 2 stars and it pains me to do so... My round of golf was played on 07/11/19 and I must say, these greens were atrocious. I dont believe I had a clean putt on 90% of the holes if any at all. I understand it is a public course but not only were the greens incredibly slow, and there were ball marks on every single line to the hole. The tee boxes and fairways were in great condition. My second grip is with the golf carts. Where in the world were these things bought/maintained? The roof was literally collapsing on my cart. I have played emerald lake many times over the years and I have to say this was the worst condition I have seen the carts and greens. Hope they can pull it together because it really is quite a lovely course. I do want to say on a positive note, we were able to play a round in about 4 hours and 15 minutes and teed off at 10 am. Great pace of play and all staff is very friendly.

The course and atmosphere of this course was pretty, along with the layout... however the greens were in very poor condition and looked poorly maintained. Too many divots and bumps and dirty patches made it extremely hard to sink a straight putt. Another note, the golf carts here are absolutely horrible. The seats are all torn up, the roof is broken off, the brake fails to work... some of them belong in a junkyard. As I said though the layout is pretty and I liked the course; which has a lot of potential... but for now I think I would recommend others in the Charlotte area for now.

Nice course, and a decent layout, but the course drains poorly. We have had a few days of dry weather, so we were hopeful it would be 90 degrees with carts. Unfortunately the course was a wet mess, and soggy almost everywhere. One had to be careful where you step in the middle of the fairway or you would sink into several inches of mud.I think I will about the course until the middle of summer.

Beautiful place! We had my brothers wedding reception here and they made sure everything went off with only one hitching: my brother and his wife. Excellent food, as well!

It really was not a fun experience the rough is so deep that you couldnt find a ball even once you saw where it landed terrible experience

The greens are not in the best shape for the money they charge. The worst part though is variable pricing. This means you never know what the price for a round of golf will be until you show up. The course is not worth the money I spent.

Greens and grounds can use some work. Clubhouse and range area are great. Some nice holes over the water. Affordable greens fees. Will be back.

The course was good the greens had just been plugged. The starter was a complete dick, sent us off early which isnt a big deal. But told us on the front we had a two hole gap before hitting our approach shot, walking up to the green the group ahead of us was driving down the fairway of the next hole.. Will not go back because if the starter/ ranger

First off I would like to say this was my first time playing here, the man inside the pro shop was very professional and nice, I was there about 10 am and wow, they are happier than I would ever be that early in the morning, the staff is also very nice, and A young woman named Kylie and a young man named Shaun talked to my friends and I and made us feel very welcome, on the other hand we did have a great day the starter was very nice but when we got to about hole 11 there was a ranger who was probably the most rude person Ive ever met, though everything was nice and easy, he will be the reason my friends and I will not go back..

I just played the course on the golf club PGA Tour 2019 on play station 4. So I give it a virtual five stars! My -16 for 18 holes rocked! :-)

My cousin recently got married here. It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding but it rained. They accommodated the situation and once the rain stopped we took pics outside. Beautiful place.

Greens are in rough shape. I dislike the design of the club house then having to go all the way around to the bar if you want a drink or a snack.. not convenient at all. Twilight rates are good though and friendly staff.

Service was Superb. Food was Excellent

I have no idea why people are giving this course bad reviews, I really dont. it was really fun the course was beautiful, the greens were good(okay) and it was a good time. 9 holes in 2 and a half hours... very very fun, the club house guy was nice and i will definatly come here again!!!

Overall the course was in great shape. They just recently arrated the greens but other than that no complaints.

Staff is awesome...course is in great shape, but with the new effort to attract weddings etc, owners need to decide to be either a golf course, or a wedding venue, or hopefully find a way to serve both.... Course closed at 12p on the Friday before a long July 4th weekend, for a wedding? Additionally having a membership go up 56% in 1 year, and a sizeable daily fee to play increase. Expanding parking is a must at some point.

Have always enjoyed Emerald Lakes greens. Course was in great shape today! Greens rolled fast and true -- excellent. Staff very accommodating -- pro shop and starter. Would give five stars except that pace of play was way too slow. We waited all day long, and there is no one out there to keep things moving. The last three holes were excruciatingly slow. You might post signs every three holes or so stating where the golfer should be at worst -- eg. not more than 1.5 hrs at this point x -- and pls get a marshal in order to maximize daily throughput and bring people back.

Course is well cared for, enough challenges to keep you focused. Will definitely play here again.

No respect for tee times. I understand that things happen but seriously, this is second visit and appears to be the norm here. If you need to keep a tight schedule. I was spoken to rudely by someone named farrah and management did absolutely nothing about it. I think I would rather try a municipal course than here again.

My friends and I golfed here and had a great time. The course is in very good shape and very fair.

What a JOKE !!!!Had to wait 30 minutes for a cart and it died on the 14 hole !!So we tee off 30 minutes late and it took 5 hours and 45 minutes to play 18 holes. It was so overbooked and the greens were in bad shape and the cups on some holes were only a matter of inches from the fringe. I personally have never seen greens with as many bad spots as we came across. Where were these impeccable greens they are bragging about? I was told by friends that Emerald Lakes is under new management and has went down hill. I guess I had to see for myself. Too bad as I use to think this was one of the best ran courses around. If you dont mind playing on a overbooked, overpriced, run down course, then this is the place for you.Dale Crow

Course is in good shape, top-notch / friendly golf staff, and decentpace of play. I gave 3 stars due to poor green conditions as a result of most players not properly repairing ballmarks and grillroom staff had attitude issues.Not worth the money.

Beware of their employee Farrah Dawn Purser!! She wrote a negative review of my business on Facebook because she did not read the the FAQs regarding cancellation of an event. She threatened legal action over a $100 deposit that is non refundable and it states that on my website. Just wanted to put that out there so everyone is aware with what they are dealing with! Im actually surprised that Emerald Lake Golf Club allowed her to post such a review knowing that social media tends to backfire in the face of the person posting!

Golf course is good. It was just too wet.

2 years ago this place was drop dead gorgeous. Its such a shame the condition it is in now.

So wet that you can lose a ball in the fairway on a tee shot because it plugs. There is mud everywhere, even around tee boxes and greens. Will be a long time before you can drive on the course
