This place was great, a real hidden gem. $15 got me a huge beef steak burrito which had nice pieces of steak in it and didnt skimp, great flavor too. For me that was the best value item. If you like spice, the salsa was fantastic. Everything is freshly made, even the chips. Highly recommend, best Mexican food in Auckland - 10x better than Taco Bell or Mexicali.
Im Mexican and I think these are the most authentic tacos in Auckland!! Way better that those ones in Grey Lynn. The tacos here tasted just like home I almost cried of happiness. Even my 10 month old was so happy to have the delicious bean tacos!I’m looking fwd to coming back to try the rest of the menu!
They should be embarrassed to call this salsa. What on earth is this? A cut tomato. There was NOTHING else. I wondered if this was a mistake because everything else was tasty... but they never got back to me. I got that and a box of tortilla chips for 11.99. If you compare this salsa to their nachos, its absolutely ridiculous because their nachos was packed full of stuff and only a dollar or two more. Severely disappointed that they didnt get back to me (so I guess they didnt care I was upset) and because everything else was good, how could they provide this salsa to me? Thats not salsa.
Nothing excites me more than Authentic foods. Thats what this place offers, I was first introduced to this place through social media. I had to see what all the hype was about, and I must say I am all here for it. The food is so delicious, trust me in saying this you wont ever get food like this at a mexicali or mad mex. Dont waste your time there! Visit Cielito Lindo! You wont be disappointed with the food! They have grown in popularity for sometime now and its easy to see why. Simple, delicious, healthy, flavorful, and food for the soul! Its become a part of my Saturday ritual for lunch and I dont plan on changing that anytime soon! (because if I had it my way, Id be eating here almost every day). Visit this place, spend some time eating real food. I promise you wont be disappointed.
Authentic Mexican food from Spanish speaking Asians!Queue for food took and hour! Probably caught by surprise, a crowd coming passing by from the refuse station on a hot Sunday avo.We bought 4 x tacos, lamb and beef very tasty. And a chicken burrito. All for $34.we didnt add $2 guacamole as e had some at home. If youre in henderson, worth a trip, though an hr wait was too long. There were only 2 in the kitchen though.
Amazing awesome food here, the location is a bit hidden and not as glamorous as you expect, but the taste of their food is way beyond the price, the best Mexican in Auckland I recond. My family love it, it‘s in our pocket list, will come back again and again
Just started a new job next door to this place. Had tinga nachos for lunch. Like I was in heaven (cause I love food) So deliciously satisfied that I didnt want to return to work. The best food. Im going to be coming here again.
Obviously going against the current but my partner and I came here and found the experience completely underwhelming with the food and condiments completely lacking in any depth or flavour whatsoever. We tried the fish tacos, a burrito, and nachos. Even the nachos which are hard to mess up used what seemed to be those abominable plastic cheese squares rather than real cheese. The highlight of the meal was the sparkling duet orange soda my partner had.We cant seem to wrap our heads around the praise for this place and our own personal experience here.
Amazing, so tasty. Meat is tender and full of flavour. Other places have been ruined for me now!
Do you want to try some real tacos? Then this is the place.Dont expect anything fancy, just amazing food!Want to tey something different? Cactus tacos 👍(They are great)
Awesome Mexican food, a great level 3 pick me up, we will be back !!
Not sure what the buzz is about this place, we waited over an hour for 4 tacos... when the food was finally ready, it was dripping in oil.. the meat was nice, flavour okay, but wont be back again for a less than average meal and the ridiculously long wait.
A real hidden gem in west Auckland. Hidden in an industrial area so very easy to miss if youre not looking for it....Look for the colourful building.Very simple authentic Mexican food. Very inexpensive and super tasty, just the way Mexican food should be!The cactus tacos are really good and a very different taco experience compared to other taquerias.
Good service, awesome food, had the tacos and beef burito! So filling. Get there early cause packs out quick!!
Was excited to try this place out seeing the reviews were so high... but honestly wouldn’t go back. First of all the customer service aspect of this place is lacking. Secondly, the meat was greasy and tasted so old and was overall unpleasant. I took 1 bite and threw the rest in the bin as I couldn’t eat it.Maybe if it tasted fresh and not bland I would enjoy it but honestly don’t get what the hype is that everyone seems to going on about. It’s slightly overpriced for the experience you get.
The food is delicious!100% traditional mexican food.Lamb tacos are just perfect ❤️
Been here twice and it wasnt open and on my third attempt I was just passing by to the timber yard and it just so happened to be open. Didnt have breakfast yet so it was the calling of the universe for me to stop here. I gotta say this beats taco bell by Miles. Even got there in time before the line was out the door. Great food, tasty and fulfilling. Steak Quesadilla was delicious and the tacos just bites of heaven. Highly recommend you support your local businesses.
They deserve much more awareness than they have. Great great food in a humble, simple store.
I moved to Auckland about 4 months ago from California and the Mexican food withdrawals were getting real. Heard about Cielito Lindo and went as soon as I could. The chicken burrito was delicious, and filling. My girlfriend got the beef quesadilla and loved it. The salsas were tasty as well. Very good and friendly customer service. Can’t wait to go back and try everything else. Pretty sure this is one of the only places in NZ to get authentic Mexican food.
Hands down Best authentic Mexican food around!
Guys, let me preface this review by saying youhad me at hello. You have drawn me in hook line and sinker.I have only been to your joint once but theFood was exceptional and the vibe was second to none. I love tacos, and you habe some of the best in the business. It’s an odd place to have a taco joint, but also it’s not, so who cares! My only grievance is that you are closed on Tuesdays. As you are surely aware, Tuesday is also Taco Tuesday, so it seems like a massive missed opportunity to be closed on that most sacred of days (for tacos). I implore you to reconsider your position, and change your day off to Monday. Nobody will miss it if you are closed on Mondays.Closing on Taco Tuesdays is sacrilege and I think for people cruising around and/or visiting the nearby Waitakere dump are Going to be a bit bemused as to why you Have the doors closed on Taco Tuesdays!Food for thought (no pun intended !)I wish you the best while you consider my tactical proposition. I hope to see you at a Taco Tuesday in the not too distant future!
Very nice foodWe had the tacosNachos and quesadillaIt was all very good and they have traditional home made Mexican drinks there aswellLike horchataSmall place to eat in but it feels very authentic which we loved 🌮🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🌯
Superlative barbacoa de borrego (lamb) taco and corn tortillas (double per taco) that taste like Quintana Roo, even though youre eating them down an industrial side street near the West Auckland landfill. Sopas with beef cheek, nopales (cactus paddle) tacos, and home-made salsa with heat and flavour. If youre looking for a slice of Mexico in New Zealand, point your GPS here (and take a right at the dump)!
Excellent food, genuine product. Very unassuming place, in the middle of an industrial zone.
Its still popular, even on a Sunday lunchtime and was heaving when we arrived .They were making up a gargantuan order, bulging takeaway boxes were stacked high. We had to wait ages. I went for a walk around the neighbourhood. Dont bother. Men in cars hoofed it down the road to and from the dump. Back at the cafe they had finished making up the large order and later ours appeared. The staff were friendly and very busy the space they worked in reminded me of a small caravan . By the time our takeaway boxes arrived I wasnt hungry anymore. Im having it for dinner tonight. Best thing so far though was the freshly made chili sauce that came with our food.
Aucklands best Mexican, no contest. Tacos, Sopes, Quesadillas, Nachos, and one of the only places youll find in this country serving Nopales (cactus) as a regular ingredient. Friendly owners, this place is worth the effort to get there. It has a small eat in area, take away available too. This is what other Mexican restaurants in Auckland should be aspiring to.
I’m sorry but the food is completely disappointing, no flavour whatsoever other than grease. Thought I’d try this place because of the great reviews but I don’t understand the hype
One bite and I was transported straight back to Mexico. The best, and most authentic tacos I have had in NZ
If you like freshly made classic Mexican fare this is a good choice. Indoor and outdoor seating. Note, this is an industrial area, its not fancy at all. Good value.
Love this place! Their tacos and sopes are the best!
Friendly people and tasty authentic Mexican food in a tiny industrial fish and chip takeaway shop style place - exciting to see sopes and a few different taco options like beef cheek, nopales (prickly pear cactus) and lamb on the menu as well as quesadillas, burritos and nachos. They also had a coffee menu and a little cabinet of baked things like cornbread and pikelets with cream.Sopes were hot and tasty with a thick, crispy base. The beef option had very oily meat but we were able to drain this off. Each serving had two little Sopes for around $10.The tacos ($4.75 each) were a bit hit and miss - they were double soft shell tacos with as much salsa and chipotle sauce as we wanted on the side and a slice of lime (crucial!). Served super hot too. The lamb was fatty and delicious, beef nice flavour but slightly dry to my tastes, though my partner enjoyed it. Fish (special for that day?) was not very nice - it just seemed to be supermarket fish sticks sliced up - not quite what I expected after eating lots of amazing fish tacos in Mexico. The place only has 2 inside tables that each hold 4 people, and a few little outdoor tables so not a place for big crowds or fancy dates - but definitely worth a lunch time visit for some pretty cheap, authentic Mexican!
Looks a bit shabby and low rent from the outside but food is good. Standing room only when I arrived at Lunchtime mid-week. The tacos were great and I saw some other dishes that will have me looking for a chance to come back again.
Best tacos and Sopes in Auckland. Also loves their Horchata. Can get quite busy Saturday Sunday but worth the wait.
Youre in for an experience coming here, food is great, by far the best authentic Mexican food around. (Run by a Mexican). Traditional drinks are spot on, horchata, Jamaica & tamarindo reminded me my hometown, definitely a must have! Highly recommended.
Don’t be fooled by the outside appearance of this place in an industrial area. These guys know Mexican food. It is our go to place for work lunch. My favs are the lamb or beef taco! Give the cactus one a go too
Dont let the surroundings fool you. This is by far the best Mexican food I have had ever. As is evidenced by the crowd queuing for lunch, this place is well worth a try. Excellent service, awesome food.
Delicious food. Love the tacos and salsas
The best Mexican place!! The beef cheek tacos are so so good! And the steak burrito is amazing!! All my friends love it also and agree with me best Mexican in Auckland!
Enjoyed the food, place is very popular with a steady stream of customers. Not a lot of seating available but that didnt seem to be a problem, am happy to recommend for people wanting authentic Mexican food.
Ordered the chicken burrito. Slightly better than expected simply because the the rice was not dried up and tasteless like other burritos Ive tasted. Generous portion, but then again I paid nearly $15 for a burrito. The place itself is nestled away on the other side of the usual Lincoln Rd Henderson turn off from the motorway, its primarily a lunch bar so dont expect lots of seating.
If you Mexican food but havent been here. Can you really say you love MEXICAN food?! I love how the shop front looks like you are in Mexico! These corn chips with the guacamole and salsa (while we waited for our burittos) were 👌👌In such a random place, but well worth the drive for proper Mexican food! ABSOLUTELY LOOOOOOVE THIS PLACE! AS Ethenic to the real deal in lil old NZ.
I love it. The portion are really good and the flavour is amazing. The best Mexican food
So delicious! I had all three of the tacos, I loved them. Really fresh and tasty. The hibiscus drink is also very nice
The food is very tasty would definately go back for the food but unfortunately the attitude of the woman serving is really unhelpful so wont be going back
The best Mexican food in Auckland, definitely worth coming back. I am amazed by the rich flavors
Tacos and Sopes were amazing. Cactus taco was great, recommend if you havent tried. Would not get the fish taco again. Only authentic Mexican I have been able to find in Auckland. Went Sat lunch time and there was no queue. Highly recommend.
Today I went to Cielito Lindo. Today was a good day.
Best Mexican food in NZ!
Hands down best Mexican food Ive ever had. Pork taco and nachos were amazing, quesadila was huge and delicious. Will be coming back regularly!
Very good soft tacos
Most authentic and tasty Mexican weve had in Auckland. What a find !
Amazing! Im from Mexico and its nice to finally find authentic Mexican food in New Zealand. Highly recommend cachete tacos. Enjoy!
SO good! Will definitely be coming back. Came at 11am and it was empty so no wait time at all.
Mexican food with a taste of home
This truly is a hidden gem. When we drove there we were surprised how out of the way it is. It was worth the journey. The food was top notch, beautiful tortillas, the meat was full of flavour and tender, the guacamole and sour cream was so good. The menu has a nice selection to choose from. The salsa was beautiful. The staff are really friendly and doing an incredible job. This will definitely be a weekly pilgrimage. Well worth a visit.
The food is amazing and a serious recommendation for anyone looking for great mexican food. Definitely visiting again.
Authentic tasting tacos, recommended
Delicious! I lived in Mexico City and Veracruz for a couple years and really miss the food. I have been in New Zealand and Australia for about six years and no “Latin” or “Mexican” venue I have visited has come close to this place! Would recommend.
Awesome Mexican street food. Yum!
Obscure location. Great food. parece auténtico. Limited seating, but they do takeaways. Very popular today, with people queued up out the door.
Loved the tacos and horchata
Food was OK. Probably authentic. Im not experienced enough to know. But its very hard to find. Google map navigation doesnt tell you which lane to keep in while turning onto the Concourse, so its hard to miss. Place is tiny and more of a takeaway than an eatery. Not to mention the inside is hot as an oven in summers. Yes, the Chef is from Mexico. But considering the food taste, menu price and distant location, all in all, its definitely not worth the hype and reviews. If you live close its worth a visit ONCE. But not worth the drive from far away.
I might havd to go again as I only had soft tacos that was bland, and $10 for 2 is bit expensive, will definitely go again to try burrito and nachos.
Certainly fresh food, busy. Was hoping for a bit more depth - fatty, salty, smokey flavours.
Delicous sopes and tacos! Very different from the chain Mexican stores and food trucks in NZ. Found my new store for serious treats. :)
Best Mexican food in Auckland love this place my favorite eats in Auckland hands down thanks Eliseo and Angel keep serving delicious food
Chicken nachos were enjoyed by husband however melted processed cheese and budget sour cream wasnt my idea of authentic Mexican. I had the SOPA are something like that. Nothing interesting...soft bland taco base ...mince was bland...gucamole...$2:extra for out of a bucket avocado mix and if it wasnt it certainly didnt taste fresh. Given salsa to add with teaspoon that the was the only thing that added flavour. Wont be back which is sad because we travelled out West especially to go there after reading rave reviews.
Had a craving for authentic Mexican food, so my sister and I popped into Cielito Lindo after a quick Google Search. A little surprised by the prices for the size of the soft shell tacos, but the flavour made up for it, when you compare to other Mexican joints. We ordered the 3 taco combo with free glass of coke, but the guy said we could have our pick of the fridge. So we picked a Horchata drink. Which was a cooling, rice milk drink flavoured with cinnamon. Tacos had super tender, juicy and flavourful meat. We tried lamb, pork and beef. Beef was our favourite. Double wrapped corn tortillas were soft and tasty. Loved the rough West Auckland industrial ambience - no hipsters or wifi zones in sight. Plastic chairs, cheap bistro tables and hot concrete outside, its definitely not pretty but will be back for the food.
We read the reviews and definitely wanted to try this place out. Arrived at the place to only find out it was more of a takeaway restaurant than a dine in restaurant. They have three tables inside and a couple outside but these were taken, so opted to take away and eat at home. The menu was good and the portion sizes of the burritos was good too, but we found the food very bland. Now this may very well be authentic Mexican taste but we would have liked a bit more chilli in it.
Good value for quick take away Mexican food, definitely will come back again
My Boss found this place online and suggested we try it for lunch one day, really quick service, all cooked fresh in front of you, smells amazing and tastes even better. Defiantly worth a try for anyone who loves Mexican food.
Top tier Mexican food.
Best mexican food in town!
Delicious authentic food.May not be to some peoples tastes but each ingredient tastes so fresh and full of flavor.Great little gem
Had come highly recommended. Pretty authentic Mexican presentation wise, loved the freshly made sauces on the tables with our orders. The food was tasty enough but nothing special, the prices definitely not Mexican especially for an industrial estate, the serving sizes satisfactory. Staff were very friendly and cleanliness excellent.
Simple and authentic Mexican street food you cant ask for better
