Honest people, I went to multiple shops that could not figure out my electrical problem. I had a throttle body replaced at a prior shop and the lightning bolt was still on my dash. They determine that there was a wire running on the back of the engine. Fixed it at a fair price and I’m back on the road. Thanks guys! I’ll be back!

Let me start this off by saying Jack and Zach were very nice people, made me feel like family. I was on my way to work and I had a hit a pothole in my car and it was so big it ended up busting the brake line, i checked for mechanics near me and Melvindale car care was the closest to me, so i brought my car in and met Jack, he set me up with Zach a service technician and i let him do his thing, not too long after that Zach calls me in to show me that the brake line was replaced but also showed me how worn down my pads and rotors were, Im not mechanically inclined but boy did they look bad, so after replacing them i find out that they only charged me for parts cost on the pads and rotors, excellent service. Very honest pricing and people, have definitely earned a lifelong customer, when i need my oil changed or any work done i will be going back

I will not let any other shop touch my vehicles.I travel 8-10 hours away from home, several times a year. I’m always confident in my vehicle after these guys give me the thumbs up.Always transparent and honest. I went to have my brakes checked just to be on the safe side. I also mentioned a bit of vibration in the steering wheel when driving on the highway. I was given a very clear explanation of what was going to be done on my car and was told it would be a few hours. To my surprise, I get a phone call just 30 minutes later! My brakes dont need to be changed right now. The mechanic told me he didnt want to change them unless its absolutely necessary as he thoroughly checked them. Wow! Didnt expect that! And guess what? No charge! Icing on the cake! Sure beats going to dealership to have maintenance done. Youve just gained a very satisfied customer!!!

I was having problems with a new battery I purchased. My truck wouldnt start up after a day or two of charge. Told by battery place it was not the battery somrhing else draining my battery. Took it Melvindale Care for diagnostic check up and nothing was wrong with the electrical system it was the battery. Jack texted me link of diagnostic check for verification and I was very impressed. He was very kind and explain to me the diagnostic. I took battery back and got my money back went and purchased another battery and been running fine since then. I know a lot of people take there car to get serviced here but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. The waiting area was small the customers seemed comfortable. Pricing was not as straight forward as I would have liked but overall okay experience.

I had to stop at Melvindale Car Service last Friday as I was traveling on 94 going east from Chicago. I had several of my car engine lights come on unexpectedly, and it was currently snowing/sleeting out on the highway that morning. Aaron was able to look at my car and situation in a very timely fashion. He was able to find the problem. I appreciate the honesty of what was wrong not what could be wrong, my car as my car is 18 years old and it would have been easy to tell me lots of things needed to be done but that was not the case at Melvindale Car Service. They fixed the specific problem, brake light bulbs and I was back on the road again. I would definitely recommend them for very honest and efficient service.

I have started going to Melvindale Car Care for the last 6-7 months. I needed brake work done, and they charged me less than any other place.They have done outstanding work, and they stick to their Warranty.I had my car again in, due to a noise I heard in the Front End. They looked at it, and recommended to wait on replacing anything.And on top of it, they did not charge me. I was willing to pay for the Diagnostics and the Check up, but they did not charge.I will for certain recommend this place to all my friends now.

Theyve failed to replace a simple power steering pump to my Ford Windstar, the new one kept failing and I had to return the car to their shop twice, and every time the car was getting worse ... I had to buy a new pump from (Advance Auto Parts) myself and took it to another repair shop to fix it for me, the car works like magic ever since.Ive wasted $330 and valuable time just to replace a pump, and they couldnt even do it... And the other shop charged me for $100 and did a good job (that was almost 2 months ago, no complaints since).The only reason I didnt give them 1 star is their positive attitude towards their customers, I can still go back there once more for an oil change or something, but, rather than that, I wouldnt recommend them for serious car repairs.

This place is outrageously expensive.I live in Canada were everything is expensive, so I called these guys to get a priceThey quote me, much to my surprise, $1200 to install a transmission I already had.The dealer who has factory trained techs, and all the tools was only $800.00In Canada I had a transmission shop do the work for $750.00Check out Canada when you need work done

Im a female Veteran and I have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra and it was this loud squealing noise coming from the engine area. Jack checked it and told me it was one of my pulleys, but didnt know which one because the noise would come and go. He told me to come back when the noise gets a little louder. Now he could have made up a lie & told me anything, but he didnt. I brought my car back month later and is was my AC Tensioner (pulley). He gave me a reasonable price, fixed it, i also received a Veterans discount, and now Im good to go. Honesty will get you far. Ty Jack!!!

My car was recently serviced at Melvindale car care. Jack and his crew were extremely accommodating, and allowed me to tow my stalled car into the shop a day earlier than my original appointment. They had my alternator (and other problems) fixed within hours, and kept me posted throughout the repair. They saved me hundreds of $$ (original Honda dealership estimate on new/installed alternator = $650...Jack quoted me about half that amount). The car drives phenomenal now, and I am extremely please and impressed. Ive never experienced or witnessed a car repair shop with so much courtesy and respect. I wish it was possible to give them zero stars. My boyfriend took my car to get my back brakes done and to fix my A/C. He talked to the guy and thought he was honest. The guy had my cat for four hours, and did nothing to my car. He quoted 600$ to do all around breaks when only my back ones needed to be done . I dont know how people add good experiences here

I had heard good things about this shop and so I thought I would give it a shot,but immediately after paying over $1200 my car unusually started to leak antifreeze and overheat,mind you it had never done that before! Needless to say it blew my heads and cost me an engine,Ive never been so dissapointed..now Im not saying that MCC is the direct cause of this happening,but it sure couldnt of happened at a worse time..

Weve been going to Jack & Mel Car Care for about 10 years now taking care of 3 different vehicles. Yesterday, our daughter couldnt turn the key on our 1994 Geo Prizm - The ignition lock cylinder had finally failed. I found a replacement cylinder for $37, but all my research (including youtube videos) show the actual replacement is complicated and time consuming and the average cost for a professional replacement was around $400 - Ugh. I called Jack about it. He said he could do it for $300, but told me to call A&B Locksmith on Pelham in Taylor - They could do it for a lot cheaper. I did, and they just came out did it for $125 in 20 minutes, plus we saved the cost of towing.The fact that Jack did this is a testament to his honesty & integrity beyond measure!!Melvindale Car Care deserves our patronage.

Recently, I had a problem with the a/c in my mini-van. The problem was intermittent, with the a/c blowing cold for awhile and then blowing warm. Turns out it was a leak in one of the Freon lines. It took two visits to MCC to locate the leak and then order the needed parts. On the third visit the parts were installed and I was out of there in an hour. The guys at MCC know what they are doing-professional in their approach to the problem and taking care of it in a timely and cost effective manner. At the same time they are customer oriented, friendly and courteous. I will continue to have my cars taken care of at MCC, a place you can trust.
