Visited Wilder Gunsmithing based on some reviews I read here. I wasnt disappointed. Drove in, walked in, was greeted by a friendly hello how can I help you from the smith and a very friendly and playful dog :) My request was quite easy, a simple sight drift on a pistol, but I was in and out in five minutes tops with a reasonable charge.*As per some previous reviews, some clarification on entrance / location:The shop is set in a warehouse style location. There was an A frame sidewalk sign easily read indicating the shops location was to the rear of the building. Turn into the driveway as the sign indicates and pass through an open security style gate. Just on the other side of that gate on your right is a single green door with a small sign for Wilder Gunsmithing. Enter that door and take a right and another slight right and you will see his storefront.Based on this first time experience I would definitely go back for any other work.

Came here today. According to the office hours, he opens at 9. Its 10:35am and the rails are pulled down. I couldn’t leave a message because his voicemail is full.Update: owner is available. The entrance is in rear of building. He’s helpful and courteous.

I dropped my pistol off back in August. I have yet to receive the repair work. Like the previous review, one lie After another. I am out of town now and unable to go by the shop to pickup my gun. I cant get this dude on the phone. He will answer emails but only after a few days of waiting for a response. Hes told me 3 or 4 times now that it would.be another week. Last I heard from him was 2 weeks before Christmas. Im so frustrated and deflated. What a mistake Ive made choosing Wilder gunsmithing.

*UPDATE: Mr. Wilder took full responsibility for these issues and provided a refund. I still have a broken gun that needs repair, but I appreciate his willingness to address these concerns.*One of the absolute worst experiences I’ve ever had as a customer.I brought Mr. Wilder an old Fox Model B side-by-side that was my grandfathers upland bird gun. The shotgun was well-worn but structurally sound. It’s not a collectors item or particularly valuable, but it means a lot to me. Mr. Wilder seemed professional and competent, and his shop looked like it was in good order. He assured me he could do a professional restoration on the gun. This was July 2020. He told me it would take 6-8 weeks.Around the beginning of November I started wondering where my gun was. At that point, Mr. Wilder began a pattern of lies, assuring me that he was “just reassembling it now, and it would be ready for pickup tomorrow or the next day.” We went through that about 6 times, for more than two months. His shop always seemed to be closed when it should have been open, and he rarely returned my calls and emails, often ghosting me for weeks at a time.I was finally invited to pick it up in January 2021. First of all, he knew he came up short and immediately knocked a couple hundred dollars off the fee. My first impression of the quality of work wasn’t great, but I mostly just wanted my heirloom back, so I paid him. The stain on the stock wasn’t applied evenly, the finish was splotchy, and the bluing was dull. There were silver stripes of solder running the lengths of the barrels. He told me that there’s a product to color the soldering, and he’s gonna look into it and call me. Why he wouldn’t have done that at any point in the prior 6 months is beyond me.Things got worse once I got it home and took a closer look. The forend stock was loose because one of the screws holding it to the metal frame had stripped the wood. There was a crack in the forend running all the way through that was not there when I dropped it off.I took it out to test shoot it today and the right barrel firing pin is inoperable. It worked fine when I dropped it off. Mr. Wilder told me he had test fired it before I picked it up but that was obviously a lie. One shell through the left barrel revealed a second fracture in the stock by the trigger guard. With an old gun like this it’s hard to say with certainty that he caused all the damage, but neither of us saw these problems — and it was 100% operational — when I left it with him. At a minimum, he would have known about these issues when he delivered it to me this week, but he choose to not disclose them, hoping — I guess — that I wouldn’t immediately notice. I honestly can’t imagine delivering a “restored” firearm to a customer in this condition. All things considered, it’s in worse shape now than when I dropped it off.I have asked for a refund but have not heard back. I am an attorney and may be forced to pursue a claim in court. Also, for what it’s worth, I shared my experience with an online hunting group and several people immediately reached out to report similar stories of dissatisfaction with Mr. Wilder. I honestly don’t understand how he could have as many positive reviews as he does.

There online ratings are the best. Once I arrived, their green door was locked, I knocked but no response. Their online statement was that they were open till 5pm, I was there around noon. I would recommend not to go till you have personally spoke to one of their reps. It was only a 20 minute drive for me but to find them locked 🔒 down was not good.

Michael does excellent work. I had him replace the rear sight on a Beretta M9 and the cost was lower than I had expected. I just got back from the range and I shot the M9 much more accurately than with the stock rear sight. Michael is also very friendly, I wouldnt hesitate to use Wilder Gunsmithing for any future work.

Michael replaced a bulged barrel and cylinder lock (bolt) on a 1919 colt police positive .32 for me. he did an excellent job on a 101 year old gun that other smiths were hesitant to look at and quoted outrageous prices. he replaced a bolt and rebound lever on a colt official police .38 for me too. both function quite good now. he is great at what he does and I hope he continues to do well. hes the only gunsmith ill ever use. thanks!!!!

I love this place. The owner, Michael Wilder, is very friendly and knowledgeable guy who runs a very clean and organized shop. He also is a silencer/suppressor retailer through SilencerShop.com (which is how I initially found him). Like many other gunsmiths and shops, his hours are 9-5pm which makes it hard for the working man...however! He keeps Saturday hours...unlike many others....which is is perfect! Great guy and a great shop! If there is a drawback here, be sure to talk to him before going by the shop. Sometimes he is actually there but cant hear the knocking if he has any of the machines turned on. He really needs a doorbell.
