I went in today for a purchase this was my 1st time ever making this type of purchase and there were very accommodating. Whatever questions I had it was answered with no problem or issue no attitude nothing at all. The process for the purchase was very very smooth and easy and most of all fast. They got me in and out in under 30min. I really appreciate how friendly they were they move fast but efficiently that is hard to do both at the same time. So I bought my first gun here about 4 years ago, a Beretta 9mm. Excellent experience. Then my wife wanted a handgun, we came back and Stan spent a long time ensuring she bought something that fit her well. She bought an H&K VP9 and still loves it. She then returned and bought a 22 cal Savage rifle just last year.This weekend we both returned and picked up two revolvers, a Colt .357 King Cobra and a S&W .357 686. Again, the staff (Nick, Brian, John and Stan) were super helpful ensuring we bought the right guns and the needed accessories. Great selection of shotguns and firearms, got what I wanted, I bought my first benelli sbe3 and love it.They noticed I was from out east and sent my gun purchase to their Suffolk location for convenience.

Great store with good selections, very helpful. Transfer fees went up from $25 to $40 but everything has gone up do to inflation. Always answer my questions. Will be my go to store from now on. Just stay away from the short old man, he’s a little cranky.

Well stocked,I found my items here that even out of stock in online stores. Efficient employees, everyone works fast because it’s super busy store based on my visit on Thursday 10:30 to 11:30am.so it’s very easy if you know what you want, if you are new to this, you want to prepare more time or go in least busy hours.I’m new and was lucky to have Brian? Who is knowledgeable and patiently help me try a few in my hand then gave me useful suggestions which I took and Happy with it.

I have been in this store at least three times. I have dealt with at least 4 different employees behind the counter. I have a pretty good idea what I am doing, so I dont really need to have my hand held, just have my questions answered as well as possible, and honesty. I can smell BS way before it it spoken most of the time. I am happy to say, that each and every employee I have dealt with was better that the last. They are are pretty great, and willing to help as much as you might hope for in a gun store. But the one characteristic I respect the most is honesty and integrity. I have found the guys in the shop to be top notch in this area....So when in the area, I will keep coming back.

There is a certain type of personell you look for depending on the store you walk Into and the product you are buying. South Shore Sportsman have the no nonsense attitude that you want for the product they sell. Stern and very professional. After speaking with them and purchasing some of their products I can say I left much more informed then before I entered. I liked the salesman very much and left very satisfied. I highly recommend this store.

Very easy to do FFL transfer here. They have their FFL form already on gunbroker so all you have to do is fill out a form on their website and when the firearm arrives they will give you a call. Rifle transfers are $50 which is on the expensive side but it is worth it for the convenience. There are quite a lot of people on weekends so be prepared to wait for some time (not their fault).

Purchased a mini 30 during the start of this pandemic the line was out the door and you could tell the staff was overwhelmed . The guy that I believe was in charge was clearly stressed but still managed to handle the crowd as professional as possible. I did purchase a case of 500 tulammo which I read in the reviews are not the best for this riffle, i wish I was notified of this but i cant blame them they did there best to take care of everyone in a timely fashion. I definitely recommended this place to others

GREAT. had what I needed, in and out 10 minutes tops

Very nice people. Used them as my FFL. Very simple process. 2 minutes on their website and I was done picked up my Smith & Wesson 500 a few days later and while I was there I picked up two shotguns which are the two on the top in the photo. Actually the second one from the top is a Mossberg Shockwave it is a firearm not a shotgun. My first 10 gauge. I will be back there soon no question.

Generally, most of the staff here are impatient and unprofessional. Since covid regulations have been implemented, the staff are obnoxious and complain about customers. Ordered 2 guns to be shipped here, and would never again. My biggest complaint is that the manager is letting their clerks mouth off and complain about customers, while customers are waiting in line. Go to other stores in LI and dont deal with these clowns.

Very unprofessional and rude. As soon as I walked into the store the employee was rude. He had an attitude like he did not want me in the store while he and his coworkers were taking care of other customers. Maybe that’s protocol but we didn’t feel welcomed at all. Didn’t even let us take a look around the shop. Will not go back to this shop.

Picked up a .22 mosin from them a few weeks ago. Staff was great, answered all of my questions, and prices were extremely reasonable. This rifle retails for $500 from the manufacturer, it was brand new for 60% of that. Great store with a great selection and you dont feel like youre pressured to buy when youre in here.

I didnt remember to bring the correct documents when I was getting my first rifle from here, I didnt get yelled at for holding up the computer while having another person waiting behind me. One of the staff just reminded me that I should have had the documents before I came here, that was all. A staff member also helped me with information and products I needed for my first visit to the range, as well as giving me contact information so I could check if it was crowded before I went there. They also informed me of some rules about transporting ammunition, mags, and rifles for visits to the range.They have a good selection, basically all the equipment needed to start off and much more. For me it came with a lot of free information which made it a very smooth and positive experience. I have been here a few times now, and to the local range as well.I would highly recommend this business for anyone looking to start. Im sure it would be a good location for experienced shooters as well, but I cant speak on that matter at the moment.

Excellent little shop. I recently bought a rifle from them and am considering buying some handguns here once my license is filed. The staff here were helpful and informative in regard to both the firearms and the state laws. Decent selection of used and new firearms available both rifles/shotguns, and handguns.

You can go to the huge stores and buy something for a few dollars cheaper but good luck if you need service from the manufacturer. These guys are all over it! There are 5 or 6 gun shops & about an hour or driving between my house & SSS. I go there for stuff 75% of the time. The other times I go elsewhere just for variety or to search for something specific but I like this place enough that I’m happy to take the time to travel there when there are several easier options. It’s better than being followed around the store aisle to aisle like a shoplifter even after spending $1,000 in Islip....🤔
