The car salesman Jerry show us 3 cars. 1st car was an older model, it ran very decent for the amount of miles. However, I was very dissatisfied when the dealership did not have the decency to properly clean up the Honda CR-V. It smelled like cigarettes and it was very dirty. No details of cleaning or at least try to make it decent. I told Jerry “this car smells horrible “ and he acted like he didn’t care. Jerry showed us two more cars and they were clean.We opted to buy the 3rd vehicle. However, when it came time to ask questions and get answers, it went down hill. The salesman Jerry, did not have the answers and every time we asked a question he got mad and frustrated it. We walked out because they got (including their finance guy) mad because I was asking questions about the APR and monthly payments. Very basic questions, but Jerry didn’t have the answers. Jerry even got mad because I refused to buy some lame warranty for the vehicle paint. They did not even asked if I wanted to buy it, he assume I need it and had on the initial paper work. We walk out.We came back, after they called and I apologized for their behavior. And of course had all the answers to my questions when they called. We bought the vehicle, but I recommend not buying from Jerry.
My experience with Mr Burns was very good. He answered my questions and gave my a great deal of information I have yet to assimilate. What I didnt like was the continued dealer manipulation which is standard across the market. I had little confidence in the financial situations that were presented to me. Although I am happy with my purchase I would welcome a better alternative.
I am offering this review to highlight the person(s) who helped me. I had less enthused help on my previous visits. Charles did a great job, walked in on a Saturday and left with a car in a reasonable period of time. I would recommend asking for him.
Great service department, was a lot busier then normal but still made sure to get me taken care of. Recommend calling in for an update if needed, sometimes they just get behind or too busy. Dropped my car off for work that needed to be done. I was initially quoted $1229 for my total, this was communicated to me over the phone. I went in this afternoon to pick up my car and they charged me $1780. You would think someone at this dealership would have called me to inform me my total was going to be $550 more than what I was initially quoted, but apparently this dealership doesnt practice common courtesy.Once I got home, I called the dealership for an explanation. The service advisor I spoke with did not know why I was charged an extra $550 and said he would need to talk to his supervisor for an explanation. I then requested a call back from his supervisor - All I wanted to know was where the extra $550 came from. Thats all. At this point I had already paid my bill. I wasnt trying to argue, but as a paying customer, I deserve to know what I am paying for.The supervisor never called me back even though I requested to speak to him. It was the same advisor who I had been talking to previously. He tried explaining to me over the phone where the extra $550 came from. I then requested he email me an itemized receipt explaining this charge and he said he would email it to me... It has almost been 1 hour since I got off the phone with him and I have yet to receive anything.Also, I would just like to add I am not a Karen. I never write reviews for anything, nor do I ever complain, but this has been an awful experience. Terrible customer service. I am never going to this dealership ever again.

This is my second Subaru Outback I have bought here and have been extremely happy with both purchases. I hadnt planned on buying a new one until next year, but I couldnt pass up the 0% financing for 63 months. I actually sold my 2013 to my brother and he is very happy with it. Given my situation and the market, Charles and Zeigler could have easily hiked up the price of the Crosstrek when I arrived. However, Charles values fairness and honesty over making extra commission. Worst car buying experience of my life. I would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE. If you like to be treated like just a number then this is the place to go. They refused to show me the carfax/car report while I was there in their office when I found a vehicle. Shame on me for taking their word for it. (They seen a female, then said cha-ching!) Come to find out 10 days later that the vehicle I purchased was in 3 front end collisions and I did not want a vehicle that had accidents, no records of what was fixed on it, and had recalls never fixed. I WASTED my time needing to drive to that location more than once to fix these issues. 35-40 minutes one way. I contacted Subaru corporate and BBB due to managements lack of interest. They tried to help initiate an exchange but each time I was out, they had no vehicles or I was shown a BMW, and an Audi... They did state at one point that if they had the vehicle I wanted in the area, they could transfer. After I took the time to look, I was ignored. I am a single Mom, and not trying to be flashy. I also do not post reviews like this. All I was trying to find was a dependable and durable vehicle for my children and I. And now I am stuck with a vehicle I do not feel safe with.Not one time did they reach out to me. And since then, the car salesman has ignored my messages. Completely unprofessional and disappointing. Not sure how you all sleep at night, or maybe you do not have a conscience. But I will NEVER give a positive review to this place.

Starting to regret my purchase. Special ordered a 21 outback and took delivery right before Christmas. Salesman was great! My car has been in 3 times already for rear end issues.. Service on the other hand is horrible. Nobody calls with updates until youre irritated and calling. Nobody answers the phone in service. Only way to speak to someone is to tell operator you refuse to call back and want a manger. 2/3 times the cars been in this was the only way to get an update and that was after they already had my car for 5 days. Loved my 05 outback w/ over 150,000 miles. Gave me little issues last few years. This one didnt even have 1,000 miles and was in shop. Used to be a diff. gentleman that ran service dept. wish I knew where he went! When he ran the dept we didnt have any issues with service. Hopefully they get it right this time. Otherwise time to find new dealer.
Just bought our second Subaru here since August. First time was online, the second time we showed up to browse inventory and walked way with a new Forester. Both experiences were exceptional. Zachary Weimer was very knowledgeable and walked through all of the new features on the vehicle compared to my wifes 2016 model. None of this felt rushed even though we showed up late and the dealership had been closed for a while by the time we drove away.

Havent purchased a car here, but instead mainly use it for maintenance for my Subaru. Never had a bad experience! Staff is super friendly and helpful, waiting area is comfortable and well equiped with refreshments, and they are very quick as well.
Car I purchased here is nice, I found it myself talked to them about coming out to get it 2.5 hours away. Drove out there and waited even tho I barely saw customers inside, they could have detailed the car a day before knowing I was going over to pick it up the next day.

If I have one complaint it was that after we left the lot with our newly purchased car I realized it had only a quarter tank of gas. I would have expected the dealer to give me a full tank with my purchase. Next time Ill ask for them to fill it up.

When we arrived at the Subaru dealership in Merrillville, we met Jim Sapienza. His approach to us was friendly and helpful. There was no pressure as he showed both the Outback and the Forester and answered our questions and patiently highlighted the wonderful features of both vehicles. As our interests began to focus more upon the Forester, Jim very professionally addressed the features of that model and willing answered the questions that our son asked about features that could be added. When we left, Jim said he would look for one that included the added features we wanted and colors we preferred.In the next weeks, Jim willing answered some questions our son had called and asked from his home in Wisconsin. Jim also emailed some additional information to us. We were so pleased, not just with the Forester, but the quality salesmanship of Jim Sapienza. When Jim called us that he had found the car that filled all of our needs and additions, we were ready. We went into the dealership and became the proud owners of a new Forester. This past weekend I bought my first ever vehicle from a dealer & this place made it easy. Everything was worked out over the phone/via email prior to arriving. (Im 1.5hours away). It made the process smoother & faster for everybody. The car was already pulled up & ready to go. They were very nice & patient with me. I brought my parents for help just in case, they accommodated everybody with ease. Charles walked me through every feature of the vehicle (coming from a 2014 that had little to none of the fancy features it was a big step up). Charles helped me pair my phone before leaving & gave all of us his card just in case. I wouldnt hesitate to drive there again for another Subaru. I think my only complaint is the lack of knowledge about the ambassador program to some extent. I told them about my purchase offer ahead of time because some dealers wont even take it. I told them 33k even with taxes/fees & Id get the car so they got it to 33500 then decided to factor in my purchase offer to bring it down to 33k even. Which I thought was a little sneaky & rude. I guess thats what most would do though. But besides that, they were perfect.

Took the car in for Drive thorough service, Oil Change and Tire Rotation. I made an appointment anyway because we had other things to do that day. It took them nearly 3 hours to complete the service. I almost had to call my father in law to pick up my daughter from school. I have no idea how their service center makes ANY money when they take 3 hours to do a simple maintenance service. Two stars for throwing in a quick car wash I guess.Seems like they only care when selling you the car, after that good luck getting them to take care of it even if you are there to give them more money.

My low oil light came on so I brought it in. They wanted $660 to fix all they things that are wrong with it. When we asked if we could have the old parts they told us no. They have to recycle them. I smell a rat. A $160 fix for a $20 to $140 for the tech Im ok with that, they we cant give you the old part that I dont believe.

We were called about a car we had inquired about online, and were told to come test drive the car that day. We drove 90 minutes and arrived to find out the car had been taken elsewhere for service. Waste of 3 hours of driving. They did nothing for us than shrug and say sorry.
I was traveling from Indianapolis to north of Chicago on a Friday afternoon when my Outback’s tire light came on. I had another 70 miles to drive. Thankfully, I was about 10 miles from this dealership. I called and asked if I could drop in - no problem. I was warmly greeted by Arthur. The waiting room and bathroom were clean and pleasant. After taking a look a my car, Jeremy told me the rapid change in weather had impacted the tire pressure in all 4 tires, but otherwise, all was fine. They even washed my car! All done at no charge. This is not my local dealership - I will probably never shop/have service here as it is 2-2.5 hours away - and they knew this. THIS is awesome customer care. Thank you International Subaru of Merrillville! One more reason I love my Subaru!
Had the opportunity to work with Charles Burns selling me my 1st Subaru!! it was a wonderful experience, he was very patient and very through when answering my questions. I left a note on the website for the 2021 legacy premium, and Titus contacted me immediately. He gave me a competitive price and lower documentation fees compared with other subaru dealers. When I came into the store, the car was pulled up already and ready for a test drive. Were very happy with the car and decided to get it. Michale helped us with the paperwork and answered all the questions we had, a very nice person! The process is fast and no-haggling at all, no tricks, and no surprise, we got the OTD price before came in. I feel very comfortable during the process, recommended!

We purchased a new Forester from Chris Sheets. The shopping experience was easy with no silly negotiating. We were clear and reasonable with what we wanted and what we could afford. The team here did what they could to help us get into a new car. I actually enjoyed car shopping at Subaru. There is no pushy sales pitch or BS back and forth games between sales and finance. Chris wanted to make sure we were comfortable with our purchase AND wanted to make sure we got the options we needed for the family. The hardest part about buying from Chris at Subaru was picking the car color. I would refer any of my friends and family here for a car purchase.
What a great experience! We worked with Joe Amore in sales. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He was able to work with Al Banister to locate a specific model and coordinate things for us. We gave them our information and when the 2018 Forester arrived we came in and worked with Andy in finance who had everything ready. We had minimal waiting and overall it was a fantastic experience!
