I will never take my car here again. There mechanic left the old brake pad and a 17 mm wrench underneath my car. When I was driving down the road, the old break pad and wrench came flying out from underneath my car. When I brought my car back, all they said it was fine. They did not comprehend the fact that the wrench flying out from underneath my car could of hurt some really bad. They just laughed. The mechanic even admitted the wrench was his. All he did was laugh. When I asked for some money back for wasting my time. All they said is no your car is fine.For this reason, I will never go back.

The worst place ever you could take your car .Of its something minor wrong with your car I guarantee it will cost you $1000 to get your car out of there and tell you they can’t put your car back together and you have to get a tow or they will cause another problem with your cars and over charge. Went in for a simple recharge of the A/C since it wasnt as cold as it use to be, took more than an hour as 3 guys hung out in a bay talking and joking half the time. I never had any issues with my A/C prior to going there. A few short days later. My A/C doesnt even work at all. I was hesitant to use them in the first place bc of a prior bad experience but I decided to since it was a simple A/C recharge and the auto place next to them doesnt do recharges. Wish I hadnt. tThis is now the second time Ive been to them and ended up regretting it. I will be taking it somewhere else to get it looked at.
Some shade tree mechanic screwed up a simple job of putting the wire to a battery terminal! This could have had bad results. Glad this lady came in. We got the job repaired, secured and with a clean look. She still needs a battery tie down, but she said shell do that later. Total respect in taking care of issues and making new friends. Shop was almost ruined to the previous management, owners and bad mechanics. It now has a fresh heart beating and going strong. New owners, new management.The Hack fake mechanics have left the building!Now, its TCB for the safety and well being of our customers.
FOR YOUR SAFETY!!!! DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP! In April I took my wifes Jeep here to have the brakes checked with an 8:00 AM appointment. 8 hours later they had the front rotors and pads replaced. That is all they said needed to be done. A few weeks later the front brakes on my wifes Jeep fail on her way home for work. I take the Jeep back: After resistance from the Manager that it was the shops fault, a technician finds that the safety bolt was not tightened on the Calipers. The excuse they gave was that they had a technician that did bad work and he was fired. As if that somehow, negates the fact that my wifes life was put in jeopardy.The shop tightened the bolts and inspected the brakes again to make sure everything was good. Now after that the front brakes squeaked loudly and grabbed. My wife called and tried to speak to a manager or owner. 2 months later no one called her back.Finally out of frustration I took the Jeep to another shop. This shop, (American Complete Auto Repair) within 30 minutes, found that the calipers and brake hoses were bad and needed to be replaced. The work was done and now the brakes function perfectly. Keep in mind that Midas twice performed inspections on these calipers and did not identify them as bad.So, my wife had to go to Midas Corporate in order to get a call back from a manager. After everything my wife has gone thru his response to our complaint was to blame the shop that actually fixed the mess his shop made and offer a free Oil Change.A free oil change for putting my wife at risk.

The Guy Steven at the desk was so polite and helpful when I walked through the door I was greeted with a warm smile and Jacob my mechanic was kind and even was joking and talking to me while I waited for my part to arrived. I highly recommend this place.
They swindled me out of over $1000, they told me I needed tire rods and forgot to put the right tire rods on. I can back a week a later after hearing it scrapping the ground and when I took it back they charged me $650 because they said now the whole right side had damage. Damage that they clearly didn’t bring up when I initially brought it in, if u don’t have great car knowledge their staff will manipulate you. Never going to this location again
Usually Im nervous about taking my car to be serviced because Ive heard stories about how car places try to get over on women. Yesterday, I didnt have time to wait for my husband, my car was driving funny and I needed to get to work so I decided to take my car to Midas. Russell at the desk was so nice and professional. I explained to him the problem my car was having and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He fixed the issue and I was in and out in no time. Im glad God let us cross paths. I called the Merriville Midas store for information, so that I could get repairs done on my European high performance vehicle. The customer service of the manager (Steve), was 5+ stars. He was honest and straight forward. Pricing over the phone without inspecting my vehicle, would make pricing parts and labor; not as accurate and fair. To me as a potential client, I totally appreciate and respect, Steve’s honesty! Now a days it’s hard to find people who give honest expert advice. I am definitely going to have my vehicle serviced with Midas and recommend this establishment to everyone I know. As long as this manager (Steve) is running this store, I will continue to be a loyal customer.By the way, this location is bilingual, which was to me very impressive. I wish I would have read some of the reviews before I went there again. I actually had a good experience a few months ago. My catalytic converter was replaced. They were nice and did a quick job and a little cheaper than some other places. However, when I left, I noticed my check engine light on. I didnt have time to go back right away. I kept putting it off but then I was having brake problems and decided to go back. When I got there, I explained the problems with the brakes and then I explained that since I was there last the check engine light had been on. I asked if there were O2 sensors there. He was very defensive and said yeah, there is one in the front and the back. He stated very sarcastically that it would be $90.00 to do diagnostics. I stated forget it and started to leave. He asked if I wanted the brakes checked? I said, no not if you are going to charge me $90. to check the converter. He asked my name and checked the computer and said it had been 5 months and asked why I didnt come back. I explained and he sarcastically said, you mean to tell me that you havent had time in 5 months!!?? I told him I just kept putting it off and that I wasnt lying. At this time we were both getting aggravated and I said maybe it was something that they didnt do right when they put the converter in. That set him off and we started arguing. He got very mad and said Hey, get the F--k out and punched me in the throat. I grabbed my throat and he kept yelling get the F--k out. He instantly came around the counter and a guy in the shop heard him yelling, came in and both grabbed me, bodily picked me up and threw me out the door. I fell on my back on the pavement rolling back and hit my head. I called the police but nothing could be done because it was their story against mine. He lied to the police and said I spit in his face and thats why they threw me out.The owner called me the next couple days but said there was nothing that he could do because his managers story conflicted with mine. Unfortunately for me there were no cameras inside. The manager stated that his employee had never had a problem like that. Well, I am 70 years old and never have had a problem like that either. So be careful and hope Tom is in a good mood. I cant knock their work but the customer service leaves a bit to be desired.BTW. i went to USA Muffler after I left there, got $400. worth of brakes done and the manager stated a lot of places dont reset the computer. He reset something(FOR FREE) and my check engine light has not come on since. How easy it is to deal with a person who knows what theyre doing and dont get mad at YOU just because they are not good at their job.

All I Can Say Is WOW! I Have been a very loyal customer of Midas! I always go to Midas for any repairs. I will never come to the Midas in Merrillville ever again. I have never in my life felt so belittled, and taken advantage of. I am a young professional African American woman. When I came to pick my car up Tom had the nastiest attitude, he said that he’d got my car to work as best as he could “there’s still a glitch that needs to be fixed” is what he said. So like another paying customer would I asked wat needed to be fixed and why wasn’t that done since I am paying $ 446. He instantly got offended and things went downhill from there. I asked could I see the print out of what I was paying for and I was told that I must pay first before I receive anything. I refused because as a paying customer I have the right to refuse anything I don’t agree with. After showing me what I was paying for I had questions and Tom was annoyed by me asking questions. I paid for my car once I got to my car the same problem I had was not resolved. My car still stalls, it shakes, and all of the indicators are on. So I asked him to tell me why my car wasn’t fixed he was very dismissive, and had no answers for me. I asked him could he come and have a conversation with me so I could discuss how unhappy I was with his service he walked off on me. If I was a male Tom wouldn’t have handled me the way that he did. But because I am that young BLACK WOMAN I was a disposable customer and taken advantage of and because of that I will never shop or support Midas ever again TOM treat your female customers how you would want your wife or daughters treated! I know hands down if I were with a male I would’ve been handled with care! I’m so disappointed

Tom was awesome today. I had my rear brakes done a year ago here on my 2015 ford 15 passenger transit and something was squealing and making a lot of noise. Turns out a small rock got caught between the caliper and brake pad. So grateful this midas cares about the safety of my kids and didnt charge me for the removal of the rock. Ill be back! Awesome service!
*UPDATE* I took it elsewhere to get another diagnostic and found out Midas did not install the part that they replaced properly and now I need a new one.Terrible prices and they charged me for a diagnostic that didnt get the job done when they did the work. They then sent me to a place for reprogramming since the engine light still came on and it still comes on for good reason AS THE CAR STILL DOESNT START APPROPRIATELY!
The old man at the front desk was extraordinarily rude. He spoke to me as if I was ignorant and stupid. My boyfriend had to step in for anything to move forward. He fought with me about my car and argued with me for wanting my car checked out. He would not listen to any of my concerns. Instead, he talked at me.If I could give them less than 1 star, I most definitely would.
Looks dirty as hell from the outside, and I hardly ever see anyone working on a vehicle. I actually wanted to go inside to get a price on brakes but I dont feel comfortable even going to ask for a quote . This place looks like it belongs in an alley.

They wanted to charge me $800 for a window actuator for my Volkswagen.. called Volkswagen said part was $352. The guy is a crook and thats being nice. They should be investigated.

The lack of customer service here is crazy! I stood inside for 10 minutes and no one ever came inside to acknowledge that I was there. I walked outside to where the mechanics were, said, Excuse me.. They looked at me and kept doing whatever it is that they were doing. This place will never get a penny out of me! You guys do know that this is customer service, right? DONT GO HERE! I took my car in while traveling. It was making a noise and I said it sounds like the transmission. I am a female RN.The charged 3600 dollars for repairs. All that were supposed to catostrophic if I drove home. MY drive shaft case and some other case. Then my wheels hip joints of the wheels.I picked up my car and they said it was the transmission! Well, that is what I said i when I brought it in ther. Picked it up and it was making the same noise as before and running the same way.I am female and traveling alone.I feel ripped off.My first encounter with the man at the front desk was bad . He was rude and abrupt with me. He was so mean when I walked in and said I felt I had a transmission problem. His response was I wont know anything until I diagnosis it! He had me clutching my pearls.I should have ran but I was traveling.SO LEARN FROM ME.On a side note, the young guy at the counter was so kind. If it was not for him, I would feel worse than I already do. I feel so violated.My car did need work and they did fix some things. But the transmission, which is the primary reason I took it in for, is the exact same way.Now I feel fearful driving alone for 12 hours home.UPDATE: the nice young man at the counter called me back. He made me feel a little better. We agree the initial encounter with the gentleman set a bad tone for the business transaction. However, I still feel like it was obvious my transmission was bad. It was making noise and having trouble accelerating. Obvious to me.They dont do fix transmission parts. But they do install transmissions. I could have paid for a brand new transmission for what the money I spent there.I left feeling bad about my whole experience.
