Great place, great people, great food. Cozy smaller place. Only downside is that it can get a little loud since there isnt anything to absorb sound. Could try heavy curtains (beside the windows, not over- I like all the natural light).
This is a wonderful breakfast place, it gets busy quick! The food is homemade, and the potato pancakes that are just like my southern grandma made!
Adorable cozy place right on the main drag. Food was delicious! My friend really loved the coffee and couldnt stop raving about it. She got the Charlies Golden Dream Duo. It looked amazing! She enjoyed it very much. I got the the Chuck Norris and everything was fresh, hot, and filling BUT the BEST part of the whole meal were the potato pancakes!!! I could have eaten 10 of them. Not to mention reasonably priced. 10/10 would go back.

First time here and loved it. Friendly staff, plenty of seats (it was a Tuesday morning though 😉), and the coffee is excellent!I always either order something comforting and familiar or try something new that I wouldnt necessarily make.at home. My dining companion @Melissa Powell, chose the comfort route with the Chuck Norris. Two eggs, two sausage, two bacon, toast, and two pancakes. She subbed in French toast.I went with something new, Chucks Golden Duo, two poached eggs on top of spinach and bacono syrup available!!Pancake was okay (I suspect from a mix) but it was huge and fluffy. Real butter and maple syrup partially redeemed it.We.both loved our choices and would return again to try more of the fairly large menu.Lunch and dinner offers looked good too.

Just moved to Litchfield and stopped at this place for a quick breakfast before the movers got to our home and I was pleasantly pleased! Everyone was so nice! Will come here again.

Prices on the menu within the restaurant are higher than what is on the website. $12 is too expensive for two subpar blueberry pancakes and Boston Best coffee. The pancakes were gummy, tasted artificial, like from a mix, blueberries frozen. Doubt that was real butter served with it. Maybe their egg dishes are better.

I am on vacation this week and its a staycation because of a recent surgery I had. I went to Charlies for breakfast as I found it on Google and it was excellent! I got to try three specialties in one meal. I had the meatloaf omelet with hollandaise and corned beef hash. The hash was homemade and not dry as home made usually is, the meatloaf was delicious and moist and the hollandaise as smooth as silk and very creamy. Maighan was an awesome server, very kind and the experience was relaxing. Freshest coffee around as well! Definitely recommend this place! I live nearby and never knew of this place, I will be going back for sure!

Charlie’s needs to find someone to direct the staff and explain how front of the house service needsto run. No gloves were worn and masks were not worn properly or at all. The food was not good either. I had a giant raw potato in my pancake and items were missing from my plate. The waitresses were speaking about how many patrons had not been served and how much food was sitting in the window waiting to be served. Not professional and definitely doesn’t make you feel confident in ordering. Charlie’s could be a good diner with some new food and some direction/management. Chaos is a good way to describe Charlie’s diner.

Great food, big portions for a great price. The waitress was very friendly and ALWAYS kept our coffee mugs filled! Definitely recommend for a brunch or if you want a HUGE breakfast!

My wife and I came here for breakfast for the first time and definitely won’t be back the waitress kept having to ask me what was included in my breakfast she was completely clueless about the menu the tables were dirty the cook also had to clean the tables and never washed his hands after cleaning the tables food was cold horrible experience

A small, very small, privately owned Diner in the middle of Merrimack. Charlies has been around for quite some time and is a local Hangout. If youre interested in our simple breakfast simple lunch you wont be disappointed by this classic Small Town Diner. Dont expect anything fancy. Charlies is basic diner food with a basic limited menu oh, but what they do they do well.A few things to be aware of if you are thinking of visiting Charlies. First it is very small so it is frequently quite crowded. There are no boots, all the seating is tables for 4. Parking can be limited. Wait staff are friendly and accommodating. The kitchen and grill are small, and right there with you in the restaurant area. So expect service to take a little bit of time when its crowded.This is not the place to come if youre interested in a really fast in and out dining experience. Rather its the place to come when you want to sit around the table enjoy a good breakfast of eggs or pancakes and great conversation over a cup of coffee.

I wish I could have tried the food, but there website & here had the wrong hours! They close at 2 PM every day! They also left their open flag out! I change this review when I get to eat here. I felt I had post & review because of these annoying problems.

Very good breakfast! I had the Irish Benedict which was delish. I the hash browns were just ok but the hollandaise was pretty good. My husband had the Carnivores Omelet and really liked it. Coffee was pretty good for a little diner. The service was very good and everyone was friendly. We would go back!
I was excited to find biscuits and gravy on the menu. I was not disappointed; it was delicious. Coffee was flavorful and tasty enough to not need sweetener. Our only complaint was that we had to chase our waitress around for our check.Id go back again though. 🙃

Such a great experience me and my family had came right before it rained, Food was amazing, service was GREAT waiter was nice, And so we payed and left, but we had food in a take out box which we left on the table by accident, And our waiter took the food out to the car in the pouring rain! Very cozy locals spot. I enjoyed a full breakfast plate, early bird special before 8AM, excellent. Seating at tables or counter. Cook station in plain view. Energetic and happy, positive staff. I believe the menu is breakfast and lunch.

The food used to be really good, and this was formerly my favorite breakfast joint in the area, but the last *5 times in a row* I have come here they have gotten our food very wrong. Ive ordered omelets and just gotten eggs and bacon, Ive ordered steak and eggs and gotten a plain bacon omelet, and Ive ordered potato pancakes and was given plain toast. Given that I work on an ambulance, I never have the time to wait and correct my order. They dont seem to care about taking orders or listening to customers, so I had to give up on this place for good.

Ive been here about a dozen times and have had a very good experience. The last time I went with my daughter the place was fairly busy as usual. There were 5 dirty tables open and we sat at one. The waitress greeted us after 10 minutes, took another 10 minutes to clean the table and took our order and disappeared. The cook delivered our order with Burnt bacon. I told the waitress and she got us another order burnt as well. The coffee cups were dirty and it took quite a while to pay and leave. It was a very disappointing visit. Ill think twice before I return.
Food was delicious. My eggs over medium were perfectly dunkable. The pancakes were light and fluffy. Its a small place with only a few waitstaff so dont expect it to be a quick breakfast but the wait is worth it.
We love going to this diner early in the mornings enough to make the drive from Manchester weekly. Try their Chuck Norris breakfast plate for hella good sausages and eggs and stuff for wicked cheap.Kinda weird parking but plenty of spaces, and wonderful, friendly waitresses.

Very small cute diner. Staff was super friendly even with my daughter asking a million plus one questions they were very sweet to her. Food was delicious so much that my little one asked for more eggs not too pricey either perfect for a quick stop or to catch up with a friend.

Food is great, customers and staff are super friendly, however, our service was really, really slow. It took 15 min to even be asked if we wanted drinks another 15 to take our order and 40 to get our food. They were also out of several items on the menu. The food was great but the service kept this place from 5 stars.

Their potato chips are made fresh to order. Ive had their hamburger and its very good. Ive also had their BLT and that was good. Breakfast was excellent. No complaints.

This place has the poorest cooks and wait staff there very un professional and distaste full and over worked I dont recommend this place right now they have a new waitress that is very nice and polite and professional but how long will she last. I even saw a old waitress whos been there a year and saw her come out off the rest room and wash her hands over the dishes to be cleaned GROSS I can go on.........

Fantastic breakfast for cheap. Generally pretty fast as well depending on when you go, but definitely can be busy which can cause seating issues for families who want a table. For one or two people the is almost always room at the bar.

I will start by saying Ive been here many many times, and my last experience has kept me from going back, and Im ashamed of that. The food was hot, cooked fresh and they have a great selection of things you dont find too often, crepes, home made hash, and these mashed potato pancakes they serve are excellent. The staff is friendly and responsive.My last visit, Im thinking was a fluke, as they had run out of hash, so believe they had the cook working on making some more leaving a backup to cook. It was awful, the pancakes, and eggs werent cooked, we sent them back, and they came back to us still not cooked. Ive let this one bad experience keep me away. And thats really not what this place is about. I would recommend anyone to give it a try.

Sat at the counter for 5 minutes and no one bothered to acknowledge me. I know they were busy, but how long does it to take to say “Hi, I’ll be right with you.”? I have waited tables in the past. Trust me, it is not hard to acknowledged someone’s presence.

First the atmosphere is great, and the service is first rate. We wanted for nothing, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We felt like we were going to see friends, not just a diner. The reason for the 4 stars is the food. Its really greasy, and honestly was only so-so. Everything from steak and eggs, bacon, the English muffins, all at best meh. Its a shame because everything else about this place was awesome. Maybe its just me, you might like thr food better...

I have eaten here a bunch of times and the food is decent breakfast food, but the last couple times the service has been horrible. The waitress completely neglected us and is not very friendly. She also took forever to bring silverware and napkins, forgot our waters and then never came back to pick up the check so we ended up just leaving cash just to get out of there because my one year old started to act up. I most likely won’t go back especially if that waitress is working.
