My husband has taken my 2006 vw covertible there for any and all problems..Very honest and always finds problems and fixes them in a timely manner.Very honest and thorough..Thankyou Mike..will be calling verycsoon to bring the baby in!!
My 09 Jetta SportWagen had some issues with the check engine light, idle, speed limitation, etc.. I first took it to another shop, whose name rhymes with Merman Odors on Southern/Mesa and these guys basically started throwing parts at the problem. After $800 worth of parts there was still no solution, and they thought replacing another (expensive) part that could run anywhere from $350 used or $1000 new, *maybe* that would fix the problem. I balked, at the ridiculousness of it all and they gave up. I then brought it over to German Autowerks and they had solved one huge issue for $350 by replacing a sensor and some other stuff, but they needed more time to solve the second issue. On the second visit, they found a broken wire (this is what was causing havoc on the computer, PCV system of my car, causing it to basically not rev past 3,000RPM) and fixed THAT for $300. So, $650 and I was all good, my car runs like you would expect. At that other shop, I would have been close to $2000 without a guarantee that throwing more parts at the situation would fix it. So, well done, German Autowerks, youve my recommendation!
Excellent Repair shop! We had taken our 73 Super Beetle here for service and a few things years ago and had great experiences, so we decided to bring in a Passat that needed major work done. This new experience was nothing short of exceptional as well! They were honest, fair priced, and performed high quality work! If you have a German vehicle, this is the place to go!
Mike is awesome. Highly recommended for air-cooled engines and all German vehicles.
Awesome place to take air-cooled cars. Mike knows his stuff
Always honest and very reasonable.
I first contacted Mike in regard to an engine light being on. It was time for an emissions test. I can’t say enough positive about Mike and the way he worked with me to get everything done. He has integrity and much much knowledge!!Deena
Awesome one of the best vw mechanic in mesa!!Super helpful and honest great prices! One of the only mechanics that will not try to rip u off!!!Highly recommended!!!
After over a year of the dealership run around I went to Mike, thank goodness! After looking over the paperwork and having it for a day he let me know what he thought the problem was, another possibility and what the plan of maintenance would be. Scheduled the drop off and a week later it is back at top performance. I couldnt thank Mike enough and definitely will come back in the future.
Michael has helped us several times for projects big and small. I would never take my 1966 bug anywhere else. He’s honest, reliable, and very knowledgeable
Want an honest master mechanic? Look no further. Mikes the guy to go to for your weird European car troubles! Ive never left his shop feeling like Ive been screwed over!
Mike is EXTREMELY knowledgeable when it comes to anything to do with my VW! Hes a honest mechanic and gives it to you straight. He doesnt try to scam you into things you dont need. Hes done amazing work on my 87 mk2 gti. Would HIGHLY recommend this shop!!!
Really friendly and professional!
Easy going guy who really knows his stuff, it was a great experience, highly recommend him.
True to their already-high rating, Mike at German Autowerks provided outstanding service and made our repair process a breeze. (Thanks Mike!) Highly recommend.
If you want your German car properly diagnosed and fixed properly go here. If youre looking for free donuts and coffee go elsewhere.
Honest, very competitive price for the repair.
Mike and his team are great. This is a small shop with a personal touch. I had an issue with my old B7 a4 involving a gas leak that wouldnt throw an error code through the diagnostic software commonly used by service technicians. Mike was able to track down and solve the issue the old fashioned way and for a reasonable price. Having checked out most of the local Mesa and Tempe import shops, this one is certainly one of the best alternatives to the dealership.
Had a really great experience here. Brought my car in for a check engine light issue and Mike solved the problem quickly and didnt charge me. He also let me know about a couple other things that would need to be taken care of in the future. He gave me a great quote for the future work, but no pressure to get it done right away - which I appreciated. Will definitely take the car back in for the future work.
Friendly and honest
Had some new ball joints pressed in for my Beetle. Reasonable prices, and he gave me lots of helpful tips for installation. Honest and knowledgeable. Thank you so much!
Mike is one of the best VW mechanics around. His prices are great, he does a great job and honors his work. I recently had to have some work done on my carbs to pass emissions, and he continued to help me until we passed. I highly recommend this shop for any VW work you need done.
Mike is a phenomenal mechanic. Youre missing out if youre not there. Mike has exceptional skills and keeps his word. I refer every Audi VW owner to him.
Michael transformed my headache of a 66 beetle into a daily driver I’ll keep for many years. He is fair, honest, and a great person. Don’t get service done anywhere else. He truly cares !!
I cant even say enough about Mike and his ethics and quality of work. I was in the shop, waiting for my car, when someone came in to get a quick issue resolved with their computer. Unsolicited this other customer told me how good of hands I was in with Mike. I appreciated it but reassured him this was the 3rd VW Ive brought to him. 1) 2005 Jetta TDI that Mike replaced my starter and turbo as the biggest items; 2) 1972 Super Beetle that I had a bunch of things done on over time including rebuilding the carb, raising the slammed suspension to get him back to a daily driver, a trans strap when my transmission mount just disappeared (major factor in raising the suspension actually), etc.; 3) 2013 GTI for new brakes/rotors and a heating tube. But, I did bring another Jetta and my newest GTI to Mike BEFORE I bought the car to get his full professional opinion because I knew hed be working on whatever car I got, moving forward. I respect Mikes work and his prices are super fair. I know hes a sole proprietor of his shop so making an appointment is what its all about but he will definitely give your car all his attention while its in his shop. Extra stars if I could.
I have used this mechanic for years. He has always maintained the same level of integrity when working on my car. He is really knowledgeable about automobiles and is very fair. One of the Best Mechanics I have had the pleasure of doing business with.
We dropped off a vehicle there it was very organized and very clean and it looked very efficient I was impressed, the gentleman even came out and helped me jump the truck
Mike is the man! Hes worked on my 68 squareback and now my 80 westfalia. I have some understanding of these old cars, but im no wrench. He takes the time to explain what he sees, and instead of gouging you with a fat bill, he explains what is needed this very minute and what can wait. One of the last truly honest mechanics.
Ive used their services may times and have always been very pleased with their work
Mike does great work. Knows his stuff better than any other shop Ive been to. Hes the only one i trust to work on my bus.
Mike and this shop is the most honest, fair and knowledgeable shop in town. DO NOT go to Dougs Bugs and Bunnies. You will get robbed. I know because I did to the tune of tens of thousands for a halfway restore. Mike fixed a tone of their crappy work for me and I was amazed at the price difference. Mike gave me a reason to trust again. Thanks!
Excellent service and very knowledgeable. My 78 bus had been sitting for 15 years in Pennsylvania and Mike him running in no time at all. I will continue to use this service.Chuck
I have an 03 Passed. It started to stall and run rough. They engine light was on. I am snowbirds, so I really didnt know any VW mechanics. Last year I had taken it into the dealership and the 2repairs I had done were very expensive for what was involved.Mike looked at my car right away. He diagnosed the problem in 10 minutes. The tensioner on the timing belt had failed and I had a bad engine speed sensor. He gavè me a very fair estimate. He had the car running perfectly by noon the following day. His quote was accurate, and I always like to see the old parts and have an explanation . I got that without asking . My VW first choice for repairs will be here!
I have been looking for a place to get my car serviced that wasn’t a regular mechanic shop or the dealer. Glad that I found Mike! I took my car in to Berge VW for a safety recall and they sent me home with a laundry list of repairs to get fixed. The biggest repair was the vacuum pump leak on my 09 Rabbit and I wasn’t looking to shell out $1500. Found Mike and he was able to reseal the pump for a couple hundred, which was a huge savings. I would recommend anyone with a Volkswagen to get their car repaired here. Thanks Mike! See you soon.
He knows his stuff. Fixed it right the first time again.
Mike has taken car of my and my car for years. He is kind, fast, efficient and really knows his stuff. You are in good hands at German Autowerks!
Was in town from San Diego. Coil pack went bad. Honest quick shop had me back on the road in a hour and a half.
I have to say that my beetle can now be a daily driver. I had taken it to another shop before bringing it to Mike. The other shop wanted almost $4,000. I was referred to German Autowerks by a shop that works only on newer VW’s and thank you to that shop for referring me to German Autowerks. My bug has not had any issues and even though it’s hot out, I can’t get enough of driving it! Mike is truly an honest mechanic that will not bs you to having unnecessary work done and his prices are reasonable.
This guy is the real deal. I had a 2002 Cabrio that was in poor condition sold to me, I wasnt the best consumer and didnt do much research, so it didnt take long for me to realize that I was in trouble. I was a single mom and student and couldnt afford to replace it, by the grace of God I found German Autowerks and he took care of me. We practically rebuilt my little car and he was fair and genuine. I still own that car and I have since bought a BMW and still to this day I will only let him touch my car. He knows German cars very well.
Nathan was outstanding.Very knowledgeable, knows his stuff, fair price gave a detailed explanation of work to be done and did it in a timely manner.5* shop thank you guys
Mike is an honest mechanic that knows his stuff! I would recommend German Autowerks to anyone.

Excelent costumer service!!!!!
I never write reviews, but Mike is the best in the biz. I moved here from out of state & Ive been taking my car to him for almost two years. There are not many mechanics like Mike.. hands down the best.
Honest, trustworthy only place I take my Vee Dub 😊 they take really good care of my car and are not over priced. Ive had nothing but great experiences here!
Mike is the very best VW mechanic in town! He can fix any problem youre having with your new or older VW.
Legit! They give you prices that make sense and they convey trustworthyness! Definitely recomment. I dont see fake smiles, they just get the job done!
I truly trust German Autowerks to provide affordable, professional service. Would never go elsewhere for service on VW
Lots of experience, and they dont advertise much.
Mike has always been a pleasure to work with, I drive 25 miles to have him service my Audi and Volkswagen, including oil changes.
Went next door to see Louie
Left the shop with squeaky breaks.
Expensive but trustworthy
