OMG.. everyone should once in their lifetime custom order a unique piece for their home. We ordered a media/tv floating shelf with a live edge. We are so in love with the result and it gave our home that extra touch we wanted. We ordered Maple with epoxy. So beautiful.And their customers service was brilliant. Good price for what you get. Awesome first experience. Fairly amateur woodworker and I was a bit afraid of sounding like an idiot. They engaged with me right away and all I had to do was show a few pictures of the projects I was looking to build, and he immediately picked out the exact right types of woods I needed and even calculated how much I needed to buy based on project dimensions. I already completed the projects and the wood was perfect and the overall experience was great. I don’t see myself going anywhere else again.

These guys were legit. We were on quest to find a rustic beam for our mantle and found exactly what we were looking for. They cut the beam to our desired length on the spot and did not make us wait 2-4 weeks like some of the competition. Highly recommend!

I was very pleased to find this little gem pretty close to where I live. I poked my head in one day to browse and see what kind of lumber Old Sol specializes in. I was very pleased to find a nice mix of wood species, rough sawn and S4S lumber and even slabs. Even better I found their prices to be very reasonable. Even though I went there just to browse, I found some gorgeous lumber and walked out with 4 boards of beautiful figured mahogany, maple and redwood. This is now my new go-to place for lumber.

We had a great experience for our first visit to Old Sol today. We were greeted by Preston as soon as we walked in and he stopped what he was doing just to help us. He took the time to ask about my project and then showed me exactly what I was looking for. He was incredibly kind and even offered to cut a sample board for me to test on for my project. Visiting lumber yards can sometimes be a little intimidating when you aren’t a master craftsmen, but I never once felt that way during my visit today and I will definitely be returning.

My wife and I went by Old Sol Lumber today to look for a piece of reclaimed lumber we could use for a fireplace mantle. Wow! What a selection! Not only did they have all kinds of reclaimed lumber, they also had wonderful sawn logs and a lot of inventory out back. They showed us all the options and we decided on a beautiful piece of mesquite that’s going to look gorgeous on our fireplace. Wonderful guys there with amazing product! Highly recommended!

Cool little lumber shop tucked away near downtown Mesa. Specializes in reclaimed lumber. Real reclaimed lumber, not the Etsy reclaimed (from the Home Depot) lumber. So be prepared to do a little milling, though most of its in very usable condition. Stock includes reclaimed barn woods (redwood, pine, etc.) as well as hardwoods. Stock does rotate so stop in often. Oh, and LOTS of LIVE EDGE pieces available!

We had simply the BEST experience at Old Sol Lumber today!!! Preston was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful...The lumber selection is FANTASTIC - I could spend all day there drooling over all the magnificent lumber...We thought we knew what we wanted - and did - but, a finished live-edge piece of walnut (already sold) caught our eye. Preston located just the exact piece and we fell in love with it!!! Cannot wait to bring the pieces home and put them in their rightful place. My husband and I will be back, for sure!!! Love this place! Excellent selection of all types of reclaimed wood and friendly staff. They let you go through and pick what you want and are very fair on the pricing. I have done multiple projects with material from here, ship lap, hand hewn beams and there finished planks are perfect and so easy to work with.

I have shopped here several times for a variety of projects around the house. First, the selection is amazing. Second and more important to me is the service. These guys are knowledgeable and flat out just good guys. Today I came to buy some black walnut for my fireplace mantel.....and I showed up at 4:02 not realizing they closed at 4:00. As I walked towards my car I heard someone call from inside....he said come on in, how can we help? No frustration by him, just a clear kindness and willingness to help me and my mismanaged time. Needless to say, I will be back....during business hours. Such an awesome shop for anything you want to build or have built for you! So many different options to choose from and the staff is super helpful! I went in with a general idea of what I wanted to build but no specifics on exactly what I needed and the guys were more than willing to walk me through different choices until we found just the right thing! Went in this morning to find some countertop wood. Was greeted right away and offered any help I needed. Not knowing that much about all the woods they offer, I let them help me. Wasn’t 15 minutes and we had it all figured out. About another 20 minutes of cutting and jointering my pieces and I was out of there. Very fair pricing. Awesome experience. Highly recommend!

I wanted four 20’ beams for our kitchen remodel and Old Sol really came through for me! I was getting quotes for $6500 for faux (styrofoam) beams but was able to find one 45’ beam, hand hewn and about 200 years old, at Old Sol. The helpful staff suggested milling down the beam (halved down the middle and then split) to create four beams from the one, which they were able to do for me! For a literal fraction of the cost of the foam beams, I have warm, gorgeous reclaimed beams on my kitchen ceiling now! Is it weird to say I feel honored to have this beautiful piece of wood in my home? I do! So happy with my beams and with the above and beyond customer service I received at Old Sol!

Ive been in the woodworking game for much of my 50+ years. From 6 years of Jr. and High School wood shop ( yes...there was such a thing once upon a time ) to working at my familys furniture manufacturing business, to full high end custom work and now garage hobbyist. Over that time Ive dealt with nearly every lumber company in the metro area. In all my years Ive never come across a place as special as Old Sol Lumber. On my first visit to pick up some reclaimed wood for a home project, I was in awe of the wonderful selection of various lumber species you just dont see anywhere else in Arizona. Of course theres also the HUGE selection of barn wood planks, beams and live edge slabs. I didnt get the opportunity to meet the Brown brothers but their employees are top notch. I was greeted with a wave and a smile and shown the way to exactly what I was looking for. They truly seem to love woodworking as much as I and couldnt have been more helpful...and...Nice! Like Chick-fil-A nice...and I mean that only in the most positive way. Now back to the Browns...well done good sirs!! You have earned a lifetime customer.

I wanted to take a moment and mention Steve at Old Sol. I am embarking on a coffee table project using live edge lumber. Not knowing much, I had many questions that you tube really didn’t get into. Steve patiently and expertly discussed with me many ideas and techniques he’s come across in this type of fabrication.His insights will no doubt help me on my first attempt and it is refreshing to see someone who has expertise and knowledge about a product rather than simply someone who rings up the bill.IMHO This is the customer service we all crave and used to be the norm.Solid work Steve!

My husband and I found the perfect piece of live edge wood for our wall. We love it! Also the people working here provide excellent costumer service. I’ve made several purchases here over the last few years. Variety of reclaimed wood and they get shipments regularly so there is new stuff to shop for. Staff and owners are knowledgeable and friendly, they go out of their way to help you. Prices and quality are good. They have enough inventory on hand for large projects but they are happy to work with you when on small jobs, too.

I was picking out beams for a friend back in CA, who had contacted him a day or two before and remembered him and what he was wanting and what he had quoted him. So the other day I had the fortunate experience of having a bad experience with another barn wood company. As I was sitting in the parking lot at the other place (absolutely disgusted about how they just tried to rob me) I gave Old Sol a call to see if they might have what I was looking for at a fair price. Preston answered the phone and I told him what I was looking for. He assured me that they had exactly what I needed and would take care of me. When I arrived I was met by Steve and Preston. Steve took the time to give me a tour of the facility and showed me their abundant selection of barn wood, live edge slabs, and cut off piles. Sure enough, as promised, they had plenty of what I was looking for and for a very fair price. So fair that I bought as much as I could.As a side note, when I was looking at their live edge slabs I noticed an older couple come in looking for some barn wood to build a shelf out of. Preston took the time listen to them describe what they were looking for and to show them their options. Old Sol was a great find for me. I am a hobbyist woodworker and love getting small project lumber there. They have a good variety and if you explore their cut off piles you can find many species at a fraction of the price of other retail suppliers.
