Have used Pickering several times over the past two years. They are upfront about what they find and possible fixes, giving options instead of the most expensive fix. Could use some office help - sometimes Ill call several times during the day and the phone just rings and rings. If I leave a message, sometimes I get a call back and sometimes I dont. But overall have had good experiences so far. Much better than some other shops Ive gone to in town.

Weve always had a good experience at Pickering (using them for car repairs for 8+ years). The repairs have been timely; costs have been explained up front and seem reasonable. Those working on our cars have seemed very knowledgeable and experienced at what they do.

I love this place. I have taken my vehicles here and have never been less than satisfied. Super honest and there have even been times where they fixed simple issues with little to no cost. Great people. I recommend them highly.

My wifes son brought his 2015 200 s to have work done not knowing what work was needing to be done $800 later finding out parts were replaced that did not need to be replaced the vehicle had less than 40,000 miles on it at the time and he had told them that basically things were needing to be replaced they were not broken or defective, very dishonest especially when he said he was going to return a phone call and cover any charges that he did not notify of, charged $200 for delivery for a part from Detroit kind of funny how the part was there in 30 minutes! The owner was supposed to call and follow back up with me and never did very disappointing the place to go is Merritt automotive they are honest people and they wont take your money, and I am an honest person and I like professional work I am a Google guide and I only post the truth!

Fred always does the best job and I think hes reasonably priced. He doesnt tell me to fix anything that doesnt need to be fixed. Hes always honest with me about what needs to be done immediately and what can wait.

These folks no what their doing and are reasonably priced. When I get my other van I will be bringing it to these folks simply because they are not trying to rip you off like most

This is my go to place for auto repairs. They are a no BS kind of place and won’t tell you something unnecessary needs to be fixed. And if there really is a problem that you may not have known about, they’ll tell you and ask what you want to do.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I took my BMW in because the brakes went out completely. I was told after a few days over the phone that it was the beake master cylinder. I said go ahead and fix it, as well with the mass airflow sensor. I mentioned Id like some other things fixed too, depending how much it was gonna cost for the master cylinder and the airflow sensor. Well I called every 2-3 days to check on my car as they had it for 2 weeks and it seemed like it was taking a long time to fix two parts. One of which is located right on top of the engine bay and is a simple plug-and-play part. Fred decided to have several other things on my car done without asking me and charged me for it. Never once did they mention they were doing these other services on my car until they were done. The bill was almost double what I was originally quoted. I tried talking to Fred about it and he just walked away! Tried having a calm discussion and he claimed it was all for safety reasons even though nothing else was wrong prior to taking it in. Id also like to note my front passenger seat had leather peeling off of it. My seats were not like this when I took them in. I called them 3 times when they reopened last week and they never retruned my calls. This whole situation inconvieneved me as I didnt have my vehicle for 2 months because I didnt have the cash for this bill at the time, as I was expecting it to be the original price they gave me. I will not be coming back here again. The staff at the desks are very nice and the mechanics know what they are doing and do great work, but it comes down to how the owner runs things, and he is very unprofessional. Very disappointed.

I don’t know who you guys have doing your radio commercials i here on 97.7 but holy cow get a better person to do them! Guy talks like he’s half out of it or high. Not professional at all. That kind of ad will definitely not make me come in, if anything stay away

I am listing some timestamps and facts below to share my story.July 4, 2020 : I dropped my car at their parking lotMid July : They told me that they have ordered some parts from GeorgiaJuly End : They told me that the parts are coming from Georgia but delayed because of COVIDEntire Aug: They keep telling me same thing - parts are delayed because of COVIDSep 1st Week : They said that they are expecting an UPS truck to deliver the part. The truck didnt arrive.Sep 2nd Week : The UPS truck still didnt arrive.Sep 3rd Week : They said that they will provide me the part number so I can look it up. They never called back and never provided the part number.Today, 25 Sep, 2020 : After 82 days (or 2.5 months), they said, we diagnosed your car again TODAY, seems like the parts we ordered arent going to fix the problem. Sorry. Pickering Automotive is one of the last really honest, quality shops around. If Fred tells you there is a problem with something on your can you can be assured that he will get it fixed correctly and in a timely manner. Not to mention one of best supporters of other local businesses.

This is hands down the best place for auto repairs. Fred actually looks for a problem then offers economical fixes as opposed to just randomly replacing parts and hoping for the best. Make sure to plan ahead and call for a slot because this place is not a secret. Ive also had them fix DIY auto repair projects gone awry. They will, on occasion, use your parts and just charge for labor and the actual expertise to install them.

Honest fair priced service

I visited Pickering today to have them change my fuel filter. I had called beforehand and was quoted $53, which was $30 for labor and $23 for the part, which the owner looked up while I was on the phone. I do realize that prices may differ slightly. When I arrived, they did not give me a written estimate.After they finished, Krissy gave me the invoice for $61 (before tax). I told her the owner had quoted me a lower price 3 days before. One of the additional charges was $5 for shop supplies. I know that its only $8 but compared to the original quote its a notable difference.Finally, they did agree to honor the quote this one time after Krissy huffed and rolled her eyes, saying that this happens all the time, suggesting I was trying to get one over on them.I thanked her, paid, and then suggested that when they give quotes they should include the shop supplies. I was not confrontational, but she immediately started giving attitude and cut me off mid-sentence. I explained that there was no need to talk down to me, but it was more of the same. Finally, I asked to speak with the owner of the shop, who happens to be her father.When I told him that Krissy had been very rude to me, he said Thats just the way she is. I started to explain that that is not the way to treat customers, but he literally turned his back on me and walked away, leaving me alone in the lobby.All that said, it does seem that the service was performed okay, because my car is running better. Also, the man who actually did the service (I dont know his name) was friendly.However, I do not patronize businesses that disrespect and dont care about their customers. This was my first visit--and my last.TL;DR: They will overcharge you and then give you attitude and disrespect you when you call them out on it. Ill never be back.

Needed major repairs done so I had my car towed. Never actually seen anyone in person but they did the best work ever and quickly at that. Great communication and answered all my questions throughly.
