Seriously the BEST dairy free ice cream I have ever had! I got the chocolate peanut butter dairy free ice cream and it was absolutely delicious! It was mine and my husbands first time and we were blown away! Who knew there was a homemade ice cream shop so close to home!! Cant wait to go back!

Great hometown ice cream shop! Absolutely love they carry dairy free ice cream. Its the first (and only) place weve found that carries dairy free that isnt a sorbet, short of going to a grocery store. My child was so excited! We like to go out for ice cream rather than keep it in the house, but have had to stop going to ice cream shops when we learned one of our children is lactose intolerant. I had the same kind just to try and the dairy free Cookies and Cream is and was amazing. Service was excellent. Clean store. Will be back.

We loved the Michigan theme of the store with ice creams named after iconic Michigan spots like Detroit, Mackinac, and the Great Lakes. I enjoyed my vegan cookies and cream flavor. Would recommend to vegans and non-vegans for excellent service and great tasting desserts.

The ice cream here is Amazing! Our group had 5 different kinds, and we all loved them! One person even had the dairy free option and that was also amazing. Dont pass up going here! The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We will certainly be visiting again!

The staff is friendly, the offer samples of their flavors to see what you like, and the portion sizes are big for the prices! The ice creams that I tried were delicious, and they sell containers to take home, as well as ice cream cakes! Ill definitely be back!

I want to give 5 stars, the ice cream is fantastic! But there are other customer service issues. Offering a 3 scoop choice but no cup to hold it unless you pay a secret upcharge on a larger container? Supply issues - they often dont have the ice cream I like and its completely unpredictable when. Finally, no easy way to find out what offerings they have day to day; sometimes they dont have anything I want.TL;DR - the ice cream is good, but there are experience issues here.

I like this place too much! They have a wonderful variety ice creams that they make. I usually sample something different, like goat cheese, but then go back to my favorite... Detroit salt mine! Always friendly staff and the outside tables are nice on a warm evening with delicious ice cream.

They have great homemade ice cream with original flavors. Super delicious!! The people were sweet and helpful with so many choices. They have ice cream cakes and take home quarts also. They also have a clean restroom. Definitely recommend this place!!

We showed up and got in right before the dinner rush. All three workers not only kept up with the large amount of people coming in, but also did so in a professional manner. I was impressed, and thats coming from someone who has worked a rush or two.

Great Lakes ice cream has been a staple in Midland for years, and has a great variety of flavors and I have yet to not like one. Im not the type of person to eat ice cream all the time so when I do I usually go here, if Im in town. They also offer dairy free options, if thats what you are looking for.

When you walk in you are immediately greeted by their fabulous crew of skilled scoopers and as you approach the counter you begin to see Great Lakes passion for their craft. You wont find boring flavors and names here. Flavors like Spring Break featuring a coconut base, toasted coconut, and chocolate chunks; Chocolate Caramel Cashew with a rich chocolate base, caramel ribbon, and lots of crunchy cashews; Saltmine Detroit has a salted caramel base with chocolate chunks; and even fun flavors like Dog Puke which is a green ice cream that tastes like sugar cookie dough and has fun little treats blended in. Their ice cream is absolutely delightful with a rich fat content giving each batch a rich creaminess that you will never find on a store shelf. I really appreciate the knowledge of their employees. Its one thing to know what the flavors are, bit to know what flavors go well together or know which ice creams are better suited for a bowl opposed to a cone speaks volumes to the fact that they take their jobs seriously and have the customers satisfaction in mind. I also really like that they partner with other local businesses to create flavors like Live Oak Coffee. If you live near Midland and havent been to Great Lakes Ice Cream Co. you need to go today. If youre ever passing through or visiting, be sure to add them to your itinerary.PANDEMIC Update as of 7/20/20: The store does require masks for entry. They also limit the people inside to 6 at a time. Good News however! You can still get samples before you make your selection.

Local made ice cream - do I really need to say more? G.L.I.C. Co. has great ice cream and the shaded porch is the perfect place to eat it on a sunny day. If its too hot, they have an area inside to sit where you get both air conditioning and great smells from their homemade waffle cones.

This ice cream is excellent. They have expanded into having really good vegan options, which is really nice for those who avoid dairy. I highly recommend the ice cream cakes, too. My only complaint is that you cant custom order your cakes anymore and Im missing the mint chocolate chip cakes. But honestly, the ice cream is great, the service is great, and its a worthwhile visit.

I love the ice cream here. They have clever and cute names and creative descriptions for their ice creams, and the quality and flavor is always excellent. Im from Howell but I make sure to stop here for some blue moon or one of the other delicious flavors whenever I am in town visiting family!(Pictured is the flavor Great Lakes Rainbow I think its called, which features key lime, blueberry and blue moon. Yum!)

The lemon bar ice cream was spot on. Does it exactly like youd expect it to with the texture that was reminiscent of an actual lemon bar.The blueberry ice cream was really just on the spot. it was like a pureed blueberry in the ice cream and there were chunks of waffle cone in the ice cream texture was great flavor was fantastic overall just a really great ice cream.

The ice cream is really good, with a silky texture that is delightful. Many cone size choices for every appetite, and sundaes, floats, and shakes are offered. The owners have taken the Great Lakes theme and used it to their advantage, both in the decor and the names of their products which range from Saginaw Bay Pickle ice cream to Copper Country ice cream. Open from March 1 through December 31. If youre in the mood for some good, old-fashioned, family fun, stop by when youre in the area. The smiling, friendly staff scooping out your sweet treats will appreciate the visit.

Where do I begin?! Awesome ice cream, for one. You can get stuff there in July or December, the seating, inside and out, are fantastic, honestly, the best ice cream place in Midland. Bored? Go here and have a nice time eating ice cream( I suggest pictured rocks, but all the flavours are 10/10)

They need better flavors like butter pecan maybe chocolate almond . Sundaes

Repeatedly told me they were out of chocolate syrup. When I finally questioned it, they told me it was too messy and too much work. BUT they still have HOT chocolate fudge.Chocolate shakes are inferior when made with chocolate ice cream and milk (with no chocolate syrup).
