Great store, great staff, please to see that they enforce masking, perfect for getting this last minute items before you go to the campground.

Being the foodie that I am, i felt i stumbled on a real gem! Both owners were really friendly and everything they suggested was scrumptious!! Homemade whoopie pies and fried pies. And the rosemary garlic bread. So fresh no preservatives. And the prices much cheaper than a farmers market bakery!! Definitely go!

The owners were very welcoming and easy to talk to. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Wrap for lunch and it was delicious! This is my 3rd time to visit and have never been disappointed. Will come back again.

The double cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese was very good, I could even taste the peppers I the cheese. The onion rings were pretty tasty, though the portion seemed rather smaller than I think it ought to have been.I only glanced at the prices of stuff in the store, it seems to be priced along the lines of gas station merchandise

I visited Shelby Forest this past Saturday for birthday party sat one of the Parks shelters, and saw the general store. Decided to visit on Sunday after church.The service was excellent. Id go so far as to say awesome. I was made welcome and felt like home. I ordered their cheeseburger with seasoned fries, enjoying the taste completely. Service was quick and friendly. Several families were enjoying lunch there, kids and all, so the place is very family friendly.I sat outside on their front porch under the shade of the trees. Even though the noon temp was a little high, the shade and slight breeze made it comfortable.Like many small family owned businesses, its hours are still sightly limited due to the COVID that weve all suffered through, but as business picks up, their expanding their hours again. I believe Fridays they still have their Steak Night. I need to come back and try that.I highly recommend the place and encourage people to start getting out when they can to give places like this some much needed business. You wont be disappointed here.

Great pit stop during a long ride. They have some bicycle maintenance equipment (pump, wrenches) on the west side of the deck. Saved my butt.

I stopped by there with my family and enjoyed both a pleasant conversation with the owners and a great burger! It is a great place with a great atmosphere.

Very friendly and great lunch, we had their World Famous Cheeseburger s and Onion Rings

Burger was great! The regular fries were great! Seasoned fried were potato wedges which I dont care for. They were good just dont like wedges as much. The onion rings were the best side we tried. They were perfect!It was a little pricey at about $10 per person for single patty burger, side and bottle drink.

Im not sure you can find nicer people, or more delicious fried pies! We love coming here after a hike at Meeman-Shelby Forest and indulging in a cheeseburger, fries & corn nuggets! ❤ This is also a great place to pick up local gifts and a variety of jams and jellies. Youre missing out!

I took my parents to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The food, staff, live music and atmosphere were amazing. If you have never been, you need to go. We had a great time and brought home some fried pies, yummy!! Thank you for making th er or night so special.

This place has got to be one of my favorite places I’ve ever visited! My wife and I came early for breakfast and enjoyed every minute of our 2hr stay. The owner, Doug, literally took the time to pull up a chair and chat with us for at least an hour without any distraction. He told us about his story, life, the store, and a lot more! We can’t wait to go back and take our kids with us next time. Such an authentic, genuine, rarity of a place in this time and age. So so refreshing!!!

Small store with camping essentials and souvenirs. Also have disc golf equipment, and they serve breakfast on weekends.

My family loves going here. Its close to good hiking trails, the owners are friendly. Its a nice place to go for a Saturday

This store, the food, and the people are off the hook. Its no secret anymore. The morning I was leaving town they were closed and Doug was actually working with a repair man. I needed some ice and he opened the cooler just for me. Every time Im in town I will be sure to stop in. What a cool place.

I am not giving this place any stars. It is the worst place I have ever been . I understand about the corona virus and all but that is no excuse for this guy to be as rude as he was. We drove 245 miles to this place because it sounded so good! We had to give our order and set outside. Which is fine but we waited and waited. Finally they brought our burgers out and it was cold.i went in to tell them and the guy practically told me I was lying and instead of offering to fix me another gave me my money back. I would have been fired at any place I worked if I had treated a customer the way he treated me. I will not go back

This place is a hidden gem. You have yet to experience southern hospitality until you go here. A family run mini mart with a small restaurant inside. They also sell locally produced goods. A friend brought me here, and now I love bringing new people here. They absolutely love it.

If you love old historical place, that’s one local way! This grocery store/ restaurant kept the place as it is from the 50’s probably! It is stunning and it will give you an idea on how people lived back in the day.

The food is good and I’ve always been so fond of this place but after learning this bit of info from a former employee I cannot support this business :( who takes employee’s tips ? So disappointed

The owner Doug is such a friendly nice guy and was a pleasure to talk to. The store looks to be old as dirt but is quiet interesting to shop in and to see. Makes you feel connected to a piece of history. The food served is good down home food so if looking for healthy options before hitting the state park, you might want to bring something along.

Don & Kristen are two of the most genuine people you will ever meet. They are so helpful and love to tell the history of their store and their local community. The food is wonderful. You will never feel like a stranger when you come here. We will make this our first stop every time we come to Memphis. Also be nice to them they never take any time off. They work hard and love what they do.

Excellent food, the cheeseburger in particular is good. Very old, unique place. Lots of memories on the walls and in my head and heart. Snacks and bait as well.

Great stop off before you enter Shelby Forrest state park. They aren’t too bad on prices either. The staff were friendly and helpful as I tend to ask questions to just gauge people and so far no bad experiences here.

Had the cheeseburger with seasoned fries, kids had chicken fingers amd regular fries. Both were great. Saw someone get a turkey melt and wish I had room for that too. Fast service but more importantly a down home friendly staff.

This is truly a down-south, old country general store. A perfect spot to stop when youre out in Shelby Forest visiting the State Park. The experiences here range from good to something youll never forget. The owner is excited and busy; customers are well taken care of-- the service is consistently great. The food is consistent too but it may not be the highest quality meal youll get all week-- that being said it beats any fast food place (and several sit-down places) hands down every day of the week and twice on Saturdays. Speaking of Saturdays, steak night is great! Ive never been a fan of the coleslaw or the frozen-then-fried crinkle cut fries but the steak (and Texas Toast) has always been tasty and its worth every penny. Generally speaking, the prices are great for the quality of food served here and the options are limitless (which I think is a good thing). My recommendation is the Philly Cheese Steak with the Sweet Corn Nuggets! as a side. Get here on a perfect-weather Saturday afternoon to listen to the band play on the deck porch and youll never want to leave.

Enjoyed some sausage biscuits and grape soda for breakfast with the family after camping at the state park. We had the last six biscuits but they didnt hesitate to cook some more if we wanted them. The owners were great; we will definitely visit again the next time were in the area.
