This used to be my favorite kitchen store until they refused to let me exchange a $200 cutting board for a slightly smaller one without my receipt. I had a credit card statement and knew the exact day I purchased and still no. It’s 2021, how is there not a digital copy of my transaction… thumbs down

Although they have some good products, the prices are very expensive. Unfortunately the staff can be quite snobby too.And KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS! For some reason they’re in the Stone Age and can’t look up your transaction like literally every other store in America. Can’t wait to see how they reply to this too! If they reply with something snobby, I’ll never go back

Cooking class, 3-4 hours, in the evening. Many of us think we are master chefs, but everyone can still learn something, or at the very least enjoy cooking with a bunch of other folks, having a few beers, and eat some delicious food. Jeff (Chef) taught us how to make 4 different Gnocchi dishes in 4 teams (about 5 people each). Not everyone got to make a dish from start to finish, but you got the important parts. The facility was great, the chef was knowledgeable and entertaining. We had a great time and I would recommend it if you can go in with an open and humble mind. Thanks.

Submitted an online order and it was canceled by the store due to mismanagement of inventory. Part of the order had been paid for by gift card. However store refused to refund money on the gift card, claiming it was in the cloud and they had no way of seeing it on their end. After working with the bank that issued the gift card to track down what happened, they determined funds had been transferred and was able to identify to the store which account had received it. I escalated to the store owner but he refused to talk to the banks commercial support team to resolve. I attempted to resolve with BBB (go read entire complaint and you will see how condescending and belligerent the owner reacted). Needless to say, the owner couldnt bring himself to view the banks evidence and risk looking the fool. Or worse, he may have missed an opportunity to discover credit card fraud from internal or contracted payment processing firms. Save yourself time and hassle and dont feel guilty about shopping online for products they carry. A fresh reminder that local businesses are not always good businesses.RESPONSE TO OWNER: The BBB did not agree with you, they provide no decision on who is right or wrong, they only facilitate resolution. The case was marked as answered not resolved. As explained in the complaint and by the issuing bank, chargeback can not be initiated. The bank has offered multiple times to show you that the charge is not in the pre-authorized state and that an actual funds transfer occurred, and can identify the receiving account number. You refuse to speak with the banks commercial support service to resolve. A single phone call could resolve but you continue to be belligerent.

I am super impressed with Kitchen Windows customer service and knife sharpening services. Margaret came out and talked with me personally about my concerns, and negative experiences with other knife sharpeners. She proceeded to do an A+ job sharpening my Global knives. Plain and simple this place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life I will never buy anything from here again or recommend this place to any one stay far away. If you need cookware go to cooks of crocus Hill, Sur La Table, William Sonoma. If you need Large cooking appliances go to Warner Stellian they will take care of you, with actual five-star customer service. I wish I could give it zero stars but thats not an option.

Warning: go on line and read the reviews of the products KW sells before you purchase. Despite the fact that employees and management will swear up and down that they sell nothing but top quality products, the quality here is definitely hit or miss. To make matters worse, their return policy is horrible. Basically, the return policy is All sales are final. Theyll only take back items that are in perfect condition, never been used. But, ask yourself, how do you know if you have a good product that you like unless youve used it? They wont even give you store credit. I bought a coffee grinder from KW that kept getting clogged up. A couple of weeks later, I went to exchange, not return, it for a more expensive one and they refused. Skip this place and go to Williams-Sonoma. They have better products and a MUCH better return policy.

You asked for a review, but you no doubt will not like it Doug. I attended your rib class last month. Had plenty of good food and a couple of new techniques that I hadnt known about. I was sitting in the corner waiting for the class to begin and I noticed Doug was introducing himself to all the students, except me. I thought that was odd, but I just forgot about it. I was back for the brisket class this past week, sitting in the same corner and I observed Doug introducing himself again to all of the students. Except for me. You did answer every question that I asked, had some really great food and came away with some recipes I will be trying. This comes across as just plain being rude to me. I dont understand this at all. Ive been a customer for years and a volunteer for a few of your classes as well. One other thing is your customer service. I just purchased a Kamado Joe and some accessories. Called customer service and left a message, the recording stated I would be contacted within 24 hours, didnt happen. And it didnt happen for the other two calls I made to customer service for other issues either. I dont shop at places I dont feel welcome at, and yours has turned into that sort of place for me.

This review is for their cooking classes specifically. I signed up online for a cooking class with my boyfriend. The description of the cooking class just explains the food youre going to make. It doesnt explain how the class is organized so I didnt know what to expect. Their cooking classes are a lot more social than I thought theyd be. You have to share a station with other people who are also taking the class. So that means you have to cook with them basically. The recipe may call for a few different components (like meat, sauce, and side), and you will probably have to work with other people at your station on those different components. Our class probably had about 30 people signed up all together. If you have a group of 6ish people, you could get a station together just with your group. But if you have any less than that, youll have to share a station with other people who you will not know. Thats fine - its nice to get to know people and make friends! But I just was not expecting that. Overall, the food was DELICIOUS. Their cooking classes are kind of expensive but for the amount of food that we made and the experience, it was totally worth it. I highly recommend!

Update - 11/12 - both the owner and the customer service representative have reached out with me and wanted to make it right. I met today with the owner who sat and explained how my scissors, though can be sharpened, slightly warp over time and wont work with soft plastic. They are going to train their employees to explain this to applicable customers. They also replaced my scissors for free. I appreciate their willingness to politely educate and remedy the situation.----------------I hate to give a bad review but.... they ruined my Wustohof kitchen shears. I had them sharpen my shears and when I brought them home, I found out they were duller then when I brought them in! I called and they had me come in a second time to get them sharpened for free. The checkout clerk cut paper in front of me to show that they were sharp, but when I was at home I couldnt remotely cut into plastic (which is what I cut most often in my kitchen)! I called AGAIN and they said the sharpener checks for sharpness in the back by cutting credit cards. I dont know about you, but I cut soft plastics in my kitchen - frozen vegetable bags, meat in Saran wrap or a plastic bag, etc, not credit cards. They offered that I come in for a 3rd time - however parking is usually always inconvenient in the Uptown area and I have a baby who hates her car seat right now... so not something I really want to go do yet again. I wish they would not offer sharpening services for scissors if they cant do it right.

I took the autumn pies and tarts class with Doug and the class was terrible. He literally talked for the first hour straight with directions for all the pies that we would be making during the day, a serious 15 minutes about fat content in butter and another 20 minutes about the differences between lard and butter pie crusts. His taking for 1 hour straight prior to the class starting didnt leave bough time for baking. Additionally the recipes provided to use during the class didnt match his verbal instructions and Doug was quick to scold me when I didnt follow his verbal instructions from and his 1 hour dissertation prior to starting to bake. During the 4 hour class ( which went 1 hour over due to his content blabbering) I literally rolled out pie dough. There were so many people in the class that I couldnt make one thing from the beginning to the end. 1 group make the dough, another group made the filling, another group chopped the apples, etc.. Over the course of the entire class I only rolled pie dough and put it in a pie tin or a tart pan. Guess what, I already knew how to roll pie dough so the $160 cost for the class didnt feel like I received any value. Be aware you will have about 30 people in the class, so you will not make 1 single item by yourself. In my group there were 2 ladies that pretty selfishly grabbed on to everything they could to bake all the key components and make the dough. This left nothing much for the other 4 people in the group other than rolling dough and chopping fruit. Didnt need to spend $160 to chop fruit and roll dough. My daughter who took the class with me made a sauce for on top of one of the tarts and helped roll pie dough. Seriously didnt make 1 single thing in total. Worst class ever.

Like I said JERKS.I am modifying my review after reading the response. I appreciate Dougs response. I forgot to add that everywhere they advertised a price of $99 they were also accepting their store coupons.. Regardless. I didnt appreciate being made to feel like I was committing some kind of crime for retuning an unused item with a receipt one day later. That alone is reason for me to not come back. I dont typically write reviews, but feel like I have to after the cooking class we went to for my birthday, which was a huge disappointment. First, the groups are way too large, we had 8 people at our station which was so many, some people didnt even get a chance to do any cooking. My husband and I got to chop 4 shallots and sear a few hens. Thats it. The whole class. This would be fine if it were more of a demonstration but the chef leading it literally did no demonstration of the cooking techniques. He just shouted instructions and said go. Everything was pre-measured into little plastic containers so it was just dumping things into the pots, stirring and you are done. Also, all the ovens in the facility were broken (think maybe check those before class?!) so last minute changed plans for cooking which led us to be behind schedule and the chef rushing around barking orders at us and making us feel like we were doing things wrong. On top of that the food was sub-average. Save yourself money and just buy a meal kit and cook at home, pretty much the same! haha Or if you want a real cooking class go to Cooks of Crocus Hill. We have done a few there and they are SO MUCH better. Super bummed we didnt go back there for my birthday gift. Will know better next time!!

Read other reviews and be aware of this businesses customer service. We obviously were not the first customers with an issue. Bought a gift card for a Christmas gift for my wife at the kitchen window staff’s recommendation. They recommended the card due to cooking classes not being up to date online and then the website being down. I originally wanted to buy certificates for classes but couldn’t due to the class and website issues. The staff reassured me at the point of purchase that I could return the card if the classes weren’t what my wife wanted. We attempted to find classes she wanted and they didn’t have any offerings so we tried to return the card a few days after Christmas and we were told that it wouldn’t be a problem but that the general manger needed to process. We came back a week later to return and they refused saying it wasn’t policy to do so. After being reassured by 2 different managers that it would be resolved, I received a call from the store owner. The owner was noticlibly upset that he was having to deal with this on a sat. After explaining the situation to him he said ‘we can’t help you, it’s against policy’. I explained to him again what his staff had explained to me at the point of purchase. Halfway through our conversation he became very upset and said he was recording our call and he wouldn’t tolerate threats. Let me be clear, there were no threats made. I clearly stated that he was loosing a longtime customer and that reviews would be made online. He then went on to explain that he would not tolerate threats to defame him and his name. As a consumer I can’t say I’ve EVER had an interaction like this with a store manager let alone a store owner. There was no element of attempting to resolve any aspect of the situation. I am shocked as a consumer to have had this experience and will recommend to family and friends to never give them their business.

Attended our first class here, as a date night out with my husband. We had such a great time. We took the Kamado Joe grilling class, and it was awesome. We learned so much about our grill, and the food we made was just amazing. It was so fun to be able to sip on a glass of wine and learn about the different recipes we were making. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. It was a great experience overall. I highly recommend trying a class, it was well worth it!

Have taken many cooking class in the Twin Cities and this was by far the most fun and most relaxed. Tons of staff to help and not one did I not feel like I knew what I was doing. Will be going back sometime soon!

My husband and I visited your store today with the intention of purchasing all new cookware as all of ours needed replacing. All the staff were exceptional, but both Ron and Michael both made this an over-the-top experience and so enjoyable. I’m so thankful that stores like yours still exist. Some things, like real-world experience and expertise cannot be replicated in this impersonal, online world we find ourselves in these days. We had so much fun and, while we blew right past our budget, felt we got such high quality products and at such fair prices, we couldn’t help ourselves! We will be back for our new grill soon!! We couldn’t fit anything else I the car today. :) THANK YOU!!

Please be careful of false promotional programs with this store. I was advised that 4 expensive knives I purchased on 2 occasions as Christmas presents would qualify for knife sharpening classes- the store has refused to deliver on its promise.

I highly recommend the Fundamentals of Pasta class. It was great fun and we learned so much in this class. We learned how easy it is to make pasta from scratch, and now I feel confident being able to do this at home. The instructor and the assistants were all so helpful, the facilities are very nice, and to top it all off -- we were even able to drink wine while learning.

Great kitchen store. Prices have gotten much better. Some of these reviews are ridiculous. I think because of Amazons willingness to take and return almost everything, people have become accustomed to returning anything they want for any reason. If the company that made the product wont let you return the item to them under theyre warranty, why would kitchen window? KW is not a monster monopoly that can take losses because companies like all clad have turned to junk. Im afraid these days its cool to support your local brewery, but every other item buy online for the cheapest price possible.

We had purchased a gift card for this class and scheduled the date months ago. But when Hurricane Dorian hit, a family member of ours needed respite and planned to visit this weekend. His home has beem wothout power for 6 weeks and was also floode. His clothes and shoes were washed away by the ocean. He couldnt be clear on his plans due to the chaos of the disaster cleanup. (I mean this was the most powerful hurricane on earth this year. His island was nearly totally submergedIt was Grand Bahamas Island.) So I found out a few days before the class that he was coming on friday, the same date as the class. I asked kitchen window folks to make an exception on the cancellation policy and help us out by transferring the value of the gift card to another class. They didnt have much notice but sadly, they never even returned the call to deny our request. They just ignored it all together. We have a few more gift cards to use but this left a bad taste in our mouth (no pun intended). One thing for sure, I wont be recommending this place to others or buying future certificates unless they remedy this for us. I highly doubt Kitchen Windows donated to any disaster relief funds in The Bahamas. This could have been a tiny action to say we are sorry your island was almost totally destroyed and 100s of people are missing, presumed dead. But they couldnt even bother to acknowledge that we called to ask for help. Shameful.

Amazing what my husband and I learned during our Grillmaster class. Well worth the money. Had a great evening together and met others that shared so many common interests that we bonded and will try to do it together again.

I am not a super culinary wizard, and I don’t frequent stores that specialize in kitchen supplies. That being said, this store blew me away! I sought out this store because I needed something specific. I approached the store from the inside of Calhoun Square (there is another entrance from the street). They had a sort of clearance happening out front. Everything was half off, making the prices for a wide variety of items quite affordable. I was able to browse the clearance as I pleased without being hassled by the staff. When I was satisfied I didn’t need any of the clearance items, I walked into the store. Immediately a person asked if I he could help me find anything. He took me directly to what I needed, told me how the display was arranged, and left me to thumb through the items. I found exactly what I was looking for! There was an excellent selection. On my way to the counter, I found an item I was not looking for, but I knew my mom needed. I called her, and she listed off several items she wanted me to pick up. I had my item, lots of items my mom wanted, and my phone in my arms. I told my mom that my hands were full, and I would have to take her there later. Like magic, a different sales person offered me a hand basket with a smile. I graciously unloaded my items. At another point, I told my mom I didn’t know what a thing was. The sales person appeared and answered my question. Granted, he was obviously listening to my conversation, but his help was appreciated.I checked out, and honestly paid less than I expected. The prices are higher than Target, or Walmart, but the items are higher quality. The store prices seemed lower than equal-quality items online.

I attended the Grillmasters Series: Ribs & Sauces. I have been grilling and smoking for many years, and was surprised at how much I learned from this class. The staff was great - very professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. The added bonus was being able to enjoy the different recipes that we prepared.
