The shoe department staff member who helped me find my size was so friendly and helpful.Checking out was a long wait as customer service was the only register open. But the staff members were doing their best despite being understaffed.
I love coming here for fishing gear because they have what I am looking for and the people who work in the hunting and fishing department are awesome and friendly. Always a good time and Ive made great connections with them and Ive even made the time to fish with some of them. They know their stuff too when it comes to fishing just like me.Overall, great store and employees. I will see yall next time I come by!
Great store and location but no ammunition in stock. The store was virtually empty. Not a fault of Academy the company. Its just the state of the economy and the effects of the pandemic.
Ever since the scam-demic started it has been getting harder to find products or open stores to sell it. Academy is just as bad!No one working the floors, products posted they dont have in stock, cashiers hiding in the back so no one gets checked out in a timely manner.Everyones polite, about not doing any work.This apathy throughout Society is going to destroy our Great Nation. I hope all the kids are ready to give obesance to the almighty Amazon.While Im at it, Kroger in First Colony sells rotten produce, Home Depot there never has stock and the line to get out reminds me of 1980s Russian breadlines.
Could not find a XXL cap nor hat in the store. Is there a problem to have XXL hats? I bought a XXL hat there two years ago. I have ask/requested marketing larger caps/hats of no rebel. I checked further into shirts and other (clothing) for large sizes. (XXL, XXXL and more were available. Some have big heads and women with much the same. Please, get out of box!
Huge store with a lot of merchandise. You can get some pretty decent deals on seasonal discounts for certain things. I got a nice hunting jacket for 50% off! Staff is also super helpful everytime Ive needed something. I actually picked up a big trampoline today for the kids, they insisted on helping me load it up in the back of my truck. I bought a pair of tennis shoes at this location for my son. After 3 wears, the part of the shoe that holds the laces broke away from the shoe. Academy took the shoes back and sent them back to the manufacturer. I very much appreciated the way they handled this, especially considering this was a $60 pair of shoes.

Academy is a onestop shop forbthe family when it comes to athletic gear, sports equipment, and outdoor necessities. Always a go-to for back to school items such as water bottles, backpacks, and shoes.
The Academy chairs were on sale for $4.99. We needed 6 for an outdoor concert. Very pleased with the associates in the store, color selection of the chairs and the excellent price!

Went to purchase a gun, the kid at the counter was great but the shelves were empty and pretty much only like 5 pistols and 3 rifles. He said the shipment comes onThursday mornings and its pretty much sold out as soon as it comes. So I guess get there early!

Called ahead to verify stock for the CAP barbell set and was told they had 3 sets in stock, which the associate verified at the back. Went down to the store immediately and was then told they don’t have any. This is the second time this has happened at this location the past few days.

I had to swap out a pair of sneakers my husband bought me. According to the associate, the shoe was in stock but he could not find it. Someone came to assist by failed to locate the shoe. Was it ever in stock?
Our Academy is in a good location at the front of our neighborhood. This is a pretty big location with lots of items from clothing to sporting goods. This location does tend to stock a few reloading components, higher end bullets, a few mixed brass, and a couple powders I like to load with, CFE 223, CFE Pistol, and Titegroup. I wish they had a larger reloading section with more dies, presses, bullets, brass, primers, and accessories, but its my go-to for powder since they are about the cheapest locally. Love the store! No complaints!
We were late getting there for last minute fishing needs, but we were greeted with smiles and excitement. It was a very pleasant experience. When we left we were bidded a great evening. I like that location. I think we will frequent them more than the one closest to us. I was able to get my husband an early Fathers Day gift. While I have shopped at the Academy in Sienna (9210 Hwy 6, Missouri City, TX) several times, with great experiences, this morning I had a terrible experience on the phone with the store manager, Brandon. Less than 2 weeks ago, I purchased a ride-on vehicle for my children for Christmas. The item is now on sale for $75 less. I called the store to let them know that I planned to return the vehicle and repurchase, in order to receive the sale price - something completely within my rights. My only question was if I needed to bring the VERY large item back into the store, or if this return and repurchase could be completed with my receipt alone. The store manager, Brandon, told me he would not process a return knowing that what I wanted to do is to price gouge them (this makes no sense, if you have the slightest idea of the definition of price gouging - a concept invented to protect consumers from retailers raising the prices of items in high demand or during times of emergency). When I expressed how unfair I felt that was, given I am still in my return window and clearly am able to purchase another item, the manager, Brandon, hung up on me.I have called and filed a complaint with Academy. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable for a store manager, or anyone in the retail business, and I hope that is will be addressed.
What has happened to this store? Im a frequent customer, but the last two times Ive been here the cashiers have been so rude! I use my manners, but they have none!

Great store with good prices. We felt safe while shopping inside. Areas were clearly marked for keeping safe distances. Only draw back is that the store is not easily seen from the main street unless you know where it is in advance. Overall it was a fine shopping experience.

Love Academy but this store doesnt have the same layout as others. I was told by several associates where to find the aquatic section. Never found it. Some associates were not familiar with the word aquatic. Minuscule stock of golf shoes. I will drive the extra 3 miles to another location on my next visit.

No one really helps out anymore. The guy at the door was nice, coming in and leaving. The checkout girl was clearly uninterested in the small talk I was attempting to make so I felt pretty stupid. And the baseballs were loved $9.99 but I was charged $34.99. Overall, a disappointing visit.
Ordered curbside. Got here notifiers the store I was there. I sat in the parking lot almost 45 minutes waiting. I watched people come, park, shop and leave all while I waited for my order to be delivered to me. I also tried calling the store a number of times with no answer. What is the purpose of curbside if I could’ve shopped faster than waiting for them to bring my order?!?
Poor customer service! The manager didnt even have the decency to look at my DPS waiver for my expired DL. He just said to the employee over the phone that probably I had made it up and print. I guess they lost a customer for life.

All I can say is WOW... I came in today in search of some shorts for my husband since he will be traveling and saw an employee walking by (mind you I had already been walking around for a couple minutes without seeing a soul in sight) and as I was about to ask she just kept on walking telling me she was at lunch and kept on going. Literally I just stood there and was like wow, Im sure she heard me say it too. She didnt even give me the chance of asking anything or even say sorry for wanting to ask a question.
Low on ammo and you can only buy 2 boxes at a time. They need to clean their carts.

Update: The District Manager was very nice and refunded my money.On 3/18/2020 I purchased two bicycles in the amount of $359.99 from Academy Sports. Within three weeks after my purchase, both bikes began breaking down. For example, the brakes on one stopped working and the other had an improper front alignment. I purchased the bikes during the COVID-19 pandemic, so I called the store to better understand their return policy. I was assured by the Customer Service Specialist via phone that my return would be accepted with a valid receipt. Since the City was on lock down and I was quarantined, I didn’t attempt to return the bikes until today 5/18/2020.When I came to the location on 5/18/2020, the Assistant Store Manager (Amanda)refused my return without any explanation. She couldn’t specify in policy any rationale to support her decision to decline my return. I felt that her decision was due to the color of my skin. During our conversation, the assistant manager was unprofessional and continually raised her voice at me without reason.Please note that the bikes were left in the store per the approval of the Assistant Store Manager. Therefore, I am without a refund nor do I have possession of the bicycles. The Assistant Manager was irrational and failed to support her decision with store policy.

This location sucks. Since they are a sporting goods store, you’d think they would have everything but they don’t. I went to this location 3 times within the past 2 weeks & they NEVER have ammo on hand for my pistol. They are always so dry. The sales reps have little knowledge about the products they carry & why they’re always out.
Im glad to had visited them since I couldnt find bikes anywhere else. They also keep good stock on clothes, fairly priced. The staff uses face masks and keep desinfecting throughout my visit.

Regarding firearm department, I believe it’s only good for buying cheap ammo. Prices seem cheap online but then you find out there’s agonizingly slow service and a long wait from the moment you decide to buy In-store to the moment you get your gun. After three weeks I gave up and ordered from budsgunshop.
They have some good stuff, sometimes you have to look or ask an assistant to get the right price, but they do have good clearance things at times.
If I could give a zero I would! Today was my sons birthday and he received a defective basketball goal gift from my mom for his birthday. When we went to the store to return/exchange I found one but there one I found wasnt in stock. Ok! I asked the lady at guest services if she could order it and we could come pick it up from the store she said no and that if I ordered it they would charge shipping. So my question is why cant they order it if its supposed to be in stock at the store!

Spent over an hour shopping online and putting together an order for pickup, only to be called the next day to be told they actually dont have 5 of the 6 items I ordered, and they wouldnt just ship them to me. I had to cancel the order. If you dont have the systems to manage inventory, dont offer your customers to purchase based on current inventory.
