Loved this bookshop! They have a wide selection of new books as well as a small but decent inventory of gently used books. The used books were generally priced in the 6.5-9 dollar range. There weren’t too many used books, but I did find some gems. I’ll be back for sure!
Love our local book shops! Always super friendly staff and very warm atmosphere. They have a great rewards program too!
Great selection of new and used books. The bottom floor is dedicated to new books while the top has a variety of used books. Very well organized with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have lots of cute little gifts scattered throughout the store like blue q socks and trinkets. They also have quite a few unique cards, many designed by local artists. Overall a great little local bookstore.
It was like walking back in time when I was small a old fashioned way to get books. There all kind of book there.
Best book store in Vermont. Bar none.
The set-up and general vibe of this small independent bookstore feels welcoming and friendly. There arent many places to sit but I enjoyed perusing the new and used books. Ive never been hear before and would definitely go back again. My boyfriend found a book for me here that is perfect book for me to read right now, making it that much more of a special place to me.
If only every bookstore could be this cool! Charming space. Great collection. Places like this deserve our support. Keep up the good work!
Most favorite local bookstore!
Love getting books here
I couldn’t be more grateful to Bear Pond books. I needed to do a zoom interview somewhere with WiFi in town and the person upstairs was happy to give me the WiFi and allow me to sit in a corner and do an interview. I was so appreciative I bought a book to show my support. Nice nice people and a cozy atmosphere!
Always friendly. I was in and out, with little time waiting to check out.
Wonderful upstairs for younger children. Has great, varied selection of books for adults. Discounts on staff recommended books and hardcovers. It reminded me of my favorite bookstores in other towns and cities Ive lived in.
Great selection!!
Love the books here!!!
The upstairs is the best kids bookstore around and there are great toys. Downstairs there are super cute change purses and stickers that I always get. Overall great atmosphere
My favorite Vermont bookstore. I bring all my friends, if its someones first time in Vermont, I immediately bring them or send them here. Order your books through them, browse their awesome used books, fall in love with a staff pick, honestly cant gush enough. I visit bookstores everywhere I go, and if youre an independent bookstore explorer like me, you will want to add this to your list!
Best bookstore, period.
A classic local bookstore complete with creaky floorboards and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Always nice to stop in, whether youve got a specific book to shop for or just want to browse.
Very cute book store in Montpelier. Friendly staff. They sell both new and used books.
Great selection. They can even order for you and send to a friend. Great customer service
Great independent bookstore in Vermonts Capitol city. Wonderful selection. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. If you live here or nearby, join one of their book clubs. Its book stores like this that are rare and valuable to the community. Highly recommended!
A wonderful independent bookstore with knowledge, friendly staff - a thorough book selection, staff picks and personalized suggestions... Book clubs, readings by visiting and local authors, etc. A celebration of todays Vermont 😊
My family and I love having Bear Pond books here in Montpelier. Claire, Rob and their team do a fabulous job running their independant bookstore. Many happy memories there of lazy Saturday afternoons browsing, special events and author readings. They are a tremendous community resource. Highly recommend you stop in.
Local bookstores are a valuable community resource, and the folks at Bear Pond are always helpful and courteous. Love the staff picks table.
A book lovers store. Bear Pond offers so much to the community and to readers--their programming is fun and lively, lots of high profile readings and signings and even occasional public readings/workshops. They have good incentives that compete with online booksellers like an evolving readers club for purchasing discounts and really fast shipping on special orders. I love the curated selections from the staff and just the experience of being in this store. Im so grateful to have Bear Pond as my local bookstore.
I was passing through Montpelier and noticed the bargain book selection out front. Unlike the usual bargain bin, these books were tempting and cheap! I couldnt resist walking inside and dont regret it whatsoever. The selection was well curated and the staff were charming. Ill be back, the next time I drive through.
These small independent bookstores are the most interesting places to visit in any town. You get a glimpse of what is being read, what was read. One thing you wont find is books in other languages.
:)Jake went in, aware that he had, for the first time in three weeks, opened a door without hoping madly to find another world on the other side. A bell jingled overhead. The mild, spicy smell of old books hit him, and the smell was somehow like coming home.Stephen King, The Waste Lands (The Dark Tower
Great old bookstore, good selections, big kids department, lots of atmosphere.
Everything was great but I had to look downstairs for graphic novels that I liked and the staff is very friendly
Great book store. Large collection of varied cookbooks. New England Culinary Institute (NECI) T-shirts available. Reading materials for the whole family despite diverse interests!
A gem of a store!! Eclectic choices in true “alternative” bookstore fashion!! You must. Come browse AND buy!!
One of the best parts of living in this town, were there every week!
Nice selection of used and new books. The childrens section is a favorite and a nice door to buy a birthday gift and visit their turtle!
Cool bookstore and great selection. Helpful staff.
Great selection of responsibly used books, classics, and the latest new releases.
Great local bookstore, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a poetry section thats real and current! Love it!
On a summer hiking trip to Mt Mansfield, one of the days was completely rained out so instead of hiking, we explored what Vermont had to offer. We ended up finding this great bookstore with carts out front piled with sale books. Inside they had every category you could imagine, and my friend and I searched and found gem after gem. We got some gifts for friends back home, and I found 3 novels to tide me over (one of which I read by lamp light that night). The place had everything you could want from stationary to books to bags to gifts. I hadnt spent time in a bookstore in forever and am thrilled we stumbled upon this one.I hope my travels lead me there again.
This is a great indy bookstore with a lot of character. The second floor is dedicated to kids books and is really comfy, cozy, and fun.
A great book store with a great kids section.
This is a lovely independent bookstore with friendly, knowledgeable, obliging staff.
Finally, a real bookstore! Very authentic, great vibes. Not much seating to check something out but good selection of books.
