I purchased a bunch of pipe and fittings earlier in the year for a project - purchased more than I needed so I wouldnt need to repeatedly return to the store for supplies. When I finished, I returned the fittings I did not use together with one full-length piece of pipe I did not use. My money was cheerfully refunded - no questions asked, and no nonsense about it being more than 30 days since the purchase was made.Great people to work with. Thanks.

I entered the store not knowing exactly what I needed - it was a kind of design-as-you-go sort of project. I spoke with Tip Ruggles, and he was very helpful. He has a keen sense of how long to hang around and try to assist, and when to leave you to try to sort out what to do. Our downtown Montpelier Aubuchon is fantastic. Great selection, staff, and did I mention its right in downtown Montpelier? Order online, pick-up in store. If they dont have it in stock, you can order and it will show up on the truck in a week or so depending on when you order it, compared to the trucks arrival day. Many of their staff are quite knowledgeable; and everyone is very helpful. If the person you speak to first doesnt know, they will find another staff person for you who does. They have recently expanded their pet section, which I find redundant with Guys Farm & Yard; I wish theyd use that space to just stock a few basics of lumber instead, similar to how the Ace Hardware stores do. Aubuchon is a regional chain, but I still vastly prefer them to the big boxes. Thank you for being part of our downtown.

It is hard to match the great level of treatment you will receive at any other hardware store vs here. I just moved to Montpelier and I can consider myself a loyal customer to this place. Also, dogs are allowed and they will treat it kindly.

I went in looking for really good glue to mend a broken window...I was directed immediately to the appropriate department, and helped by the salesperson there to find exactly the right material! Perfect!

Good supply, good staff to help find stuff. Always seem to have what I need. The only hiccup sometimes is the double checkout, front and rear: if I want to leave front, often no clerk to check out, while a line at the rear. Or, vice versa. I liked the old system (central register island) better. No big deal, I really am glad we have the store here!

We found ourselves needing to perform a roadside auto repair in the middle of a decent road trip through New England.Roughly 2 minutes before this shop closed we called and pleaded that were were 5 minutes away from the shop on foot and desperate. (GPS said walking we were 12 mins away.)After a hard run and 4 minutes, my boyfriend was let in to purchase what he needed to finish the repair.The woman helping him was really nice and was obviously concerned for his well being such that she still invited him into the store after closing.Even still, she didnt rush him or make him feel like a nuisance while making sure he got everything he had come to get, which thankfully they had in stock.

But thisStore has changed. I had screens fixed nearly two months ago. I asked to speak to the Manager but he didnt see me. I waited 15 minutes. The store is goingDownhill.

Always helpful and well-stocked, this is a great little hardware store for such a small city. My favorite part is that when Aubuchon bought out the local hardware store next door many years ago, they hired the guys who worked there. At least one of them is still on!

I live an hour away, I called to check on a chain saw and extra battery and even paid over the phone so I didnt need to be in the store for any amount of time. When I got there they didnt have the second battery and then took a half hour of my time to register a warranty I could have done in 2 minutes. Complete waste, will never shop here again.

Before there was Aubuchons, there was Somers Hardware in Montpelier. This Aubuchons retains the flavor of the old Somers, with some of the owners working there. One can still linger over bins of nails, a large array of seeds, plants and gardening equipment. I buy my paint for house projects here because these folks are knowledgeable. The staff here is friendly, courteous and always helpful. Aubuchons is conveniently located in downtown Montpelier, across the street from the municipal parking lot. Theres something for everyone here.
