I want to not like this place, JUST BECAUSE MY HUSBAND LOVES IT! They have anything you could need for the outdoors and some for indoors. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I really do like it, just cant send the hubs by himself or he spends more. HA!!

Beware of purchasing bikes. Not really happy with the quality of the work. When I picked up the bike it was given to me with two flat tires and one of the brake cables was rubbing on the tire. Not the biggest thing however I can only imagine what gets past them double check anything you get. Wouldnt want the front forks falling off. 😐

Great store, just 4 stars because they have now a very limited quantities of fishing reels. They only have, tint, small and medium reels.

I placed an online order for store pickup, for convenience. My wife picked up the order. When I looked in the order, the bag which should have contained one of the products I ordered, a sleeping mat, was filled with a bedsheet. The SKU number on the bag they gave me didnt match my order.I called the store and talked with an associate who was quite rude. She said shes remembered my wife coming in. My wife had stated this employee was also quite rude, and originally only have us one of two items we ordered. My wife questioned her because she thought it was two, and received a rude response. The second item, once provided, was incorrect.I talked with the store manager, he stated the only help her could provide is if I came back into the store to return the bedsheet I was inappropriately given. Driving back to the store which is a forty five minute round trip is not convenient. I was also told the same thing by the online ordering customer service. Without convenience, I see no reason to shop here versus online retailers. I requested a refund, but they said they cannot process without me in store. I know that this is not plausible given the sophistication of online ordering systems. When this had happened with Amazon, they just send you a new one, almost no questions. Im questioning the convenience of in store pickup, if it places you on order fulfillment limbo, and no one can appropriately help you.

Didnt want nike, for great reasons but unfortunately didnt have anything else that caught my eye and not much time to go anywhere else. I do not want to give nike a penny.

We’re going on a work backpacking trip so I stopped here to grab a few things. For being a general outdoors/sports store, they had a pretty good selection with good pricing. They’re not an REI so that don’t have a massive selection for light weight gear. They do however, have enough to get your by for a quick two or three day trip.

Dunno why they bother to sell guns . They have all but banned most sporting rifle and shotgun platforms. I wont be back to companies that cave to political ideology.Funny they didnt ban pistols that make up almost the entirety of all u.s gun deaths.

Do not order for store pickup. TWICE, I have been contacted that they did not have an item on my order after it says in stock. I can understand it happening once but not on multiple orders. Also, if one item in the order is shipping, then Academy won’t cancel the order so you’re stuck.

This place is a good blend good blend of the classic sporting good items bit also has some non standard brand items such as shirts and pants at a really affordable price. The magellan fishing shirts are awesome! This place is high five highly recommended!

Academy Sports is a hit or miss on gun ammo. Rifle ammo can be found there more than pistol. Shotgun shells can be found half the time. Turkey load or 3.5 can be found sometimes. No telling what you will find. 22lg or 22wmg, never. Most of the time a miss on pistol ammo. But when you do find it, you can only buy 2 boxes per person a day. 9mm $17 to $20 dollars a box for target 🎯 loads. Not as bad as other places. Ammo prices have gotten out of hand everywhere.

WISH I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE STAR RATING! THE MANAGER is terribleThis is a supper nice store with awesome sales associates but management is far from what it needs to be! The manager Tom is who I just so happened to flag down for some help in the kayak department, I asked if someone could help me with questions and purchase of a kayak. Tom proceeded to help me and as I explained I had been to 4 other stores looking for this kayak because the other kayaks were floor models and had damage to the bottom, so I asked if they had the one I wanted still in its packaging from the manufacturer? Tom then proceeds to lecture me on the fact the manufacturer does not pack them or wrap them. So upon him acting like I inconvenienced him while he was trying to get the kayak down I made the mistake of trying to help by stating there was a pin in the racking system still holding it in and Tom stared at me with a go to he_l look and made the statement of Really” in a sarcastic tone. By this point I was disgusted with manners and actions of Tom and I replied back to him that I was sorry for trying to help because I did not want the kayak damaged. After getting the kayak down and inspecting it I found the manufacturer did not bolt down one of the hatches to the dry storage so I asked if I could get like 10% off the kayak for the issue. At this point is when he turned on his employees in front of me the customer with belittling actions quizzing them and pressuring them into making the decision on the discount. To say I am disappointed with his actions is an understatement. I have called customer service with Academy Sports over this issue and I requested a call back from a regional manager and it has been a week now no response! Way to go!

So when did it become a hussle to simply do a exchange? Why do I have to return everything if Im exchanging a size up? Myself and another employee was shocked. Also I do not like margarita attitude towards me when she tried to give me a lower price on my pants when clearly I was returning the 17.00 and not the 12.00 ones. I would know which items Ive kept and the ones I didnt!!!!

Academy is always a great experience. The staff is helpful and friendly. And even in this crazy world they have managed to keep most of the shelves stocked. I will continue to use them as my go to outdoors shop

The employee M in the gun section where my mother was purchasing a gun for house protection. My mother was talked down interrupted on multiple occasions and mistreated with customer service. At first when my mother asked me to hold the weapon and make sure that it was operation. I pointed it away from mother and the employee. The employee got testy with and said don’t run off with the weapon, not even jokingly. We moved on with the purchase and mother asked me was do I do from here. I said you begin feeling out paper work. The employee gave me a nasty look and said don’t interrupt me. I was astonished of how I was treated. 5 mins later I walked over to check on mother to see how the paper work was going and he said to me if you’re not buying the weapon stay away from the paper work and included you may not help her at all. The employee also mention that he was the only was that was able to explain questions that were confusing. Okay I understand that. I was about to tell my mother to cancel the purchase do to the way that we had been treated. On top of this we will not be dealing with the M employee do to his stuck up bad attitude. To mention I’ve been in customer service for 15 years you treat people with politeness and kindness. I don’t care if you’re having bad day or something is trouble you. You don’t treat Customer with disrespect at any time. The employee needs serious training.

Spent almost three hours inside. Huge selection of sports equipment as well as clothing. Prices were surprisingly very close to Amazon. Would highly recommend.

Today I watched a worker get racially profiled. I seen him moving kayaks around and a man approached him and asked if he needed up, the young man said no thank you, I work here. the confusion was in the clothing, the young man had a sweat shirt on and he explained to the man it was because he did not have a work shirt. The guy still proceeded to say in his walkie talky I have an African American male stealing kayaks, a few people then came outside and they cleared things up. I have never been so disappointed in a store, watching this was simply disgusting and I hope you train your employees better.

Academy Sports us by far my favorite sports store. They have a great variety of equipment for sports and camping and reasonable prices. They also have great customer service.

No paintball items. No refill station for co2 tanks that they sell.

I just had the poorest customer service ever provided by the management team at the store in Mooresville nc. All I asked for was a failed product to be replaced. They refused!!! When asked to speak to the manager at the customer service desk she instructed the assistant to tell me where she was in the store so i could come to her. Training needed defiantly. I know this company will never feel pain of losing my business but they have.

I love the customer service at this location especially Teresa she was super she handled the issue I had with professional courtesy and respect she made me feel my patronage was truly appreciated which was a refreshing change from other retail stores of all kinds that act like customers should be great full the store allows them to buy goods in their store . Teresa was also genuinely concerned about my father’s health even though I was a complete stranger. I hope the store manager truly realizes what an extraordinary employee she is, the staff of other stores could learn a lot from Teresa and the entire staff of A. S. In Mooresville NC.

Some staff members were following me and my family around the store as if we are going to steal merchandise. Staff members at the register are simply rude and not pleasant to interact with. The don’t greet or smile.

Curbside pickup was quick and easy. Got my one order item right and delivered to my car in minutes.

Three salesmen at gun counter too busy talking about fishing to offer assistance. When we interrupted them to say we were there to pick up an online gun order, one told us in a smart tone that the system was down and we could not be helped with our purchase. We drove over 2 hours to pick up a gun that we purchased and received a confirmation email for saying it was ready for pickup. Needless to say we canceled order and will take our business elsewhere.

Super easy to return items, my favorite sporting goods store to shop at!

Like any other sporting goods place.... some things are over priced while others are cheaper than other stores. Like most places right now, they are usually out of ammo. They have a wide variety of clothing brands and sizes as well as a wide variety of shoe brands to chose from. Your best bet is to check flyers for sales. Bought my patio furniture from here at a much lower everyday price than you’ll find anywhere else. A lot of our clothing has come from here as well because we found it cheaper here.

Difficult location to get into from I-77. Parking is adequate, but not when restaurant they share parking lot with is crowded. Store is clean.

If it has too do with Sports+Outdoors they probably sell it. Aweaome selection of fishing products. Good prices. Never crowded....I have a man crush on this place.

Went in for shoes and the selection was disappointing. Needless to say Im still looking for some trail running shoes.

They got some good stuff, we bought kids soccer cleats the price was not as high as I expected so I was happy about that. We could not find an employee anywhere to ask when some other sizes would come in so that was frustrating. The checkouts were way backed up about 10 deep with 2 at the service desk ringing up and 1 cashier, another register did open up so I assume they were reacting to the line. Store is brand new so its pretty clean and neat. Lady who checked us out was great which always makes the experience better.
