I have been shopping at Food Matters in Morganton for about a year and a half and just feel really thankful this store is here. Their fish and meats are the best you can get in this area and they can sometimes be at very reasonable prices. Better prices than the larger stores in a lot of cases. Everything is really good. The hand made sandwiches at the deli are great too. Wine selection and pricing is excellent. They also have a great beer and cider selection. Highly recommend this grocery store.

Absolutely love this little gem close to downtown Morganton NC. They have all you can ever want in a small town and then some. Staff is knowledgable and always friendly. The deli has wonderful cuts of organic meats. Thanksgiving You can order a organic free range turkey. An absolute must if ever driving through Morganton.

Very clean! Huge variety of micro beers. Nice variety of local items and adequate signage was available to let you know what was local and the price of it, also where it was from.

Ive really been enjoying eating the roasted vegetable wrap at Food Matters. Also, Im finding some unique foods I just cant get anywhere else - especially for the vegetarian diet. Really nice to have these folks in our area!

A great small town health food store. Has brewed self serve coffee, prepared food, a meat counter, bulk nuts/grains, and health and beauty products in addition to the normal food items you would find at a grocer. Also has a good size alcohol section. We bought some cold brew coffee and the cashier was very nice and welcoming. Very clean store and will definitely go back if we are in the area!

I love this little grocery store. They have fresh, local produce, specialty items, and gourmet productsI get lost in thought contemplating my choices at the bulk bins and spices.I had been driving to Boone to get specialty ingredients. This store is closer for me.

Lovely, clean grocery store stocked with loads of local food, organic produce, and hard-to-find foods for those with special diets (gf/vegan). Large bulk section complete with grind-your-own nut butters. Large local beer selection as well. Hands down the most spacious food co-op I’ve ever been to— both inside the store and the large parking lot.

All good options here are so good. Everything is fresh. Everyone is friendly. Great go to for healthy options.

Quick stop in the area to get a bite at the deli, store was clean and orgranized with friendly staff and a seating area both inside and outside. There is also a separated community activity room available on the side. Some of the bulk snacks that I tried tasted were stale and the prices are on the high side. But I was able to find some things that worked for my needs.

Great place to shop with several local and organic products. The produce is fresh and always looks great! They also have a fresh meat counter and some made to order sandwiches and salads. The prices are a bit higher, but its worth it for the quality!

I live close by FM and have found they offer healthier choices than our other groceries. As it’s not a huge chain, I know most of the staff by name and they know me.

My favorite aspect of this story is you can bring your own jar and pour your own honey. They are also very very clean and have a great Seafood selection.

The grocery store is a little high end for the area, but they have a nice selection in each area. The store is clean, workers are friendly, and it is a good location right at the edge of downtown. I would suggest it for friends that live in the area.

Phillip the owner is the nicest guy! Clean, inviting store. Great beer and coffee selection plus fresh food/smoothies to order. We visited before/after our bike trip and will come back when in town again for trail races and biking.

Has many varieties of Vegan foods to chose from. Very fresh. Organic and many different spices and herbs too.

They are true to what the say they are. Local, fresh, good quality. Nice selection of beers. Cafe menu looked good although we didnt eat there. Meats looked great. Missing cheeses and good fresh breads. Didnt say they had it it would be icing though.Nice to meet Philip.

Not my everyday grocer, but love stopping here for the amount of unique items they carry that you cant find elsewhere. Best beer selection Ive found in Morganton, lots of fresh and local produce, a wall of protein bar options, and a cafe serving up fresh food!

They misrepresented Springer mountain chicken as pasture raised. It is not pasture raised and Springer mt doesnt claim to be. I have tasted the difference in pasture raised chicken and thats what I will eat from here on out.

Food Matters always has what I need, especially those odd specialty products that no one else has. Definitely a great market for vegans or gluten free people, but they also have a great meat dept, beer and wine selection and and excellent hot lunches.

Cool place with great and friendly staff. Really good deli with specialty sandwiches that are amazing. Try the spicy chicken salad sandwich if it is available, it is incredible. Only downside is eating healthy is expensive, but I guess its not their fault that they have to charge 12 bucks for Mayonnaise.

I love this place. I actually started shopping at the one in Hickory until the one in Morganton opened and its been great. Fresh, local, non hormonal meats and fish! The produce is always fresh! The is great! Homemade soups to eat or to take home, fresh salads, and sandwiches made to order. The store is clean and the staff are very helpful. Wine and beer selection is diverse. There is also an area for some select your own beans/lentils. I like buying some organic things but cant afford to buy everything!

Bulk grains. Made-to-order food and smoothies. Tables and WiFi. Clean! Lots of Kombucha variety. This is my new favorite place to shop! Everything was beautiful and the staff were all sweet and welcoming. So happy to find this gem tucked into a friendly neighborhood downtown!

Food Matters Morganton is my favorite place to shop for fresh produce, local meats and eggs, supplements....just about anything my big family needs or wants! The prices are fair, especially if one considers the quality of the items purchased. We appreciate the weekly and monthly sales as well, helps when meal planning! The deli is my “go to” for fresh, gluten free and vegan choices every time we are on the run. Truly awesome and consistent. While I love the store and products carried, the staff is what keeps me coming back. These guys never underestimate the power of a kind, heartfelt greeting. I love every bit of this establishment, from the welcoming staff to the fresh local produce and mouthwatering desserts. Their deli is delicious as well and the staff remembers our orders. While a little pricey, ever since we started coming here over 3 years ago we havent stopped, its our go to store!

Its a great little store. It reminds me of a mini Whole Foods. The people are nice, and this store might have the one thing you cant find unless you travel to Asheville or Hickory. The prices are a bit high, -1 star, but i get it too, they are filling a niche, and they need to pay the bills too.

This is very much like a smaller version of Whole Foods with higher prices. Dont get me wrong, Im very grateful to have a place like this for organic and natural foods and products. I was very impressed by the quality of the organic produce here, it all looked very fresh unlike it does at the bigger stores where it sits on the shelf too long. I will shop here occasionally for items I cant find elsewhere, but if I can get the same product a couple bucks cheaper at Ingles I will buy it there.

Great store. Has many of the items found at a Whole Foods or Earth Fare. Its wonderful to have so many options this close. I love the idea of locally produced foods, too.

My boyfriend and I were staying at an AirBnb walking distance from Food Matters. We decided to go here for a quick bite for breakfast. Unfortunately the cafe didn’t open until 10 but we still found delicious food. This is a small and unique health food store with lots of organic options. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely come here again next time I’m in town. My only suggestion would be to touch up the outside, it looked somewhat rundown and dirty which doesn’t really help to portray the message of clean and healthy.

My husband and I look forward to shopping here once a month. We drive from Shelby. It is a clean, well run organic grocery. It is just the right size, and the staff are very responsive if asked about products. I love the Samis sourdough bread, and if I call a couple of weeks in advance, they make sure they have several loaves for me!

It was a pleasure to find so many vegan options in a small town place. They have a great beer and wine selection, bulk food selection, and most importantly a great chocolate selection.

Food Matters is a terrific natural products store and has a great selection and generally low prices. Perhaps the best thing is the level of personal, friendly service. For example, they’re happy to special order what they don’t stock in the store.

I appreciate that this healthy food store is providing access to unique food options in a relatively small mountain town.There is a good variety of groceries available but overpriced in my opinion.I was certainly underwhelmed by the choices available for quick bites/coffee.Would likely have to pass unless I was looking for a specialty product.

Great selection, given its size. Some items on special and priced much lower than I expected. All in all, pleasantly surprised. Very good addition to our downtown.

A bit pricey but overall a very knowledgable staff and quality health care options. If you are tired of doctors trying to kill you i highly recommend coming and seeking alternative natural options in health and wellness here. Great food is just the bonus here.

Glad to see a store like this in morganton. Small but they have everything I need, and their prices for local and organic items are way better than the larger grocery stores organic selection (who pays nearly $10 a lb for organic ground beef?!). I hope to see them stick around!
