I have a rule regarding ice cream: If I bike 20 miles, I reward myself with an ice cream cone. One of my favorite rides is along the Dakota Rail Trail through the Lake Minnetonka region. On a good day when I have a lot of energy to burn, the ride starts at and ends at Wayzata Bay with a turn-around point 27 miles later at St. Bonifacius. Since that makes for a ride almost 60 miles total, that means I can allow myself a stop at Lost Lake Creamery, usually on the return trip.This is important, because you’re going to need to bike 50 miles or more if you order anything at Lost Lake Creamery, because the portions are generously HUGE. On my first time there this year, I ordered a double for around $5, thinking that a double would be a scoop of one flavor and another scoop of my second choice. Big mistake. When I stepped to the register to pay, I didn’t watch my personable ice cream technician pack a cone with a heaping portion that topped above the cone before adding another scoop of the same flavor above that platform before topping that with a scoop of my second choice. She was reaching her spoon to grab another scoop of my second flavor before I shouted at her to stop, grabbing the attention of everyone in the store, sparking amused grins and confused expressions when I explained what she had on the cone already exceeded my expectations. Which is why you should bike out of your way to Lost Lake Creamery — and have your expectations exceeded. I still stop there on my rides when I can. But the rule — yeah, it’s more of a guideline.

Ice cream shop with a huge variety of delicious flavors. Shop is clean, staff is friendly and patient. Portions are huge and great prices too.My son’s kindergarten class visited for a field trip earlier this year. He has a few serious food allergies and they were so accommodating. They opened up a whole new tub of sherbet and used a clean scoop just for him and a few other classmates. I was so impressed. He almost never gets to eat at ice cream shops so this was a special treat.

Seriously perfect ice cream cone! I had the lady bug 🐞 flavor and it was delicious! The servers were kind, helpful, happy and filled my waffle cone to the brim! So good!!

I went to Lost Lake Creamery for some ice cream and I had one of the most polite ice cream scoopers. She was very nice and helpful. And her name was Addison she told me when I was talking to her but I am so coming back for more delicious ice cream and service!!

Lots of very good flavors here. We live in the general area and use their “punch card” to receive a free cone after every 5 purchased.Typical priced by comparison to other’s.Bring a wet wipe if it’s hot outside, you may need to clean up the fingers & lips some when finished with your delicious treat.Don’t let a possible “sticky situation” keep you away from this delightful location. No restrooms, but a Carbonies Pizza is a block away if you really need one.

Good selection of flavors and right next to a field with some nice benches for the family. Highly recommend any of their dark chocolate ice creams.

It is always awesome. And lets be real folks, it is the only asset mound has, not counting the lovely 4 story parking ramp. If you can imagine a destination that makes driving to mound worth the trip, Lost Lake ice cream is the destination. Grandkids love this place.

Great place to stop on a Dakota Ridge Trail bike ride (within 50 yards of the bike path). Ice cream is great. Had chocolate chip mint...very minty and huge chunks of chocolate. You wouldnt think a waffle cone would be a big deal, but their homemade waffle cones are the best Ive tasted. Highly recommend.

We love ice cream and this little spot was a fun treat. The single was so big we could have shared. Great portions for the price. The cashier recommended the Mackinac Island Fudge and it did not disappoint.

The ice cream is good. Its a nice place to visit on a boat ride. I wish that they sold junior size as a single is two scoops. They were willing to split a single between two people which was nice.

Reminds me of the local ice cream shop growing up. Great ice cream with lots of flavor choices. The single is even 2 scoops and you can get a different flavor for each scoop. On a nice day there could be lines and there isnt really seating inside but there are lots of space outside to sit and hang out.

Such a cute little place! Close to the Mound Surfside Beach so its fun for the kids to walk to the creamery from the beach. So happy they have made a home in Mound...Now if they would only serve gourmet hot cocoa in the winter wed be set! Now go get some of their amazing fresh coconut ice cream. YUM!

This is my favorite ice cream shop. The have great flavor choices and excellent prices. We have liked the Malted Mountain, French Silk Pie, Lemon Meringue, and Raspberry Cream the best this year. Their ice cream is from a wonderful creamery in WI, so its always fresh and the flavors rotate quickly.

Delish Old Fashioned (Possible Petersens ice cream) ice cream treats! Get it in a bowl/cup, it melts super fast! Love this place, perfect date with family, friends, or that special person... grab a snack from here, and walk down by the water and onto the little dock. I really hope this place stays for a long time, its the perfect little addition that Mound needed!

Wanted to try a new place, so visited today with my two children. Spent about $12 plus tip. Given the lack of a restroom on site, I requested some water to clean up my kids sticky hands. This was apparently an unreasonable request based on the reaction from the store worker. All she was willing to provide a little water in the tiniest of cups (like the ones provided with mouthwash in some restrooms). When I pointed out the stack of bigger plastic cups stacked behind the counter, she shook her said and said this is the best I can do. Cant help wondering if a white person would have been treated differently. Felt like this place is run by the #MAGA crowd. Wont be going back.P. S. Also, this place serves Cedarcrest ice cream, which is ok, but nothing special. Can be found in many grocery stores in MN and WI. Not homemade and certainly not worth all driving all the way for.
