Fixed a wiring issue with my new guitar, and also did a setup with new strings. The guitar was ready shortly after dropping it off the same day. Prices were fair and he left me with suggestions on how I can continue upgrading my guitar. Ill definitely be back!

Fantastic experience! Brought my Les Paul for a set up. Previously the action was set unreasonably high at Guitar Center, I was told this is as good as could be reached on my guitar... In no time Jesus fixed the issue and completely transformed my Les Paul to a smooth playable instrument.Jesus is a very nice and communicative gentleman and joy to work with. I took my Fender twin to Alvarez Guitar and Amp Service. I hadnt played it in a long time, and it was in pretty tough shape. Jesus went through it and offered wonderful advice on tubes. When I got it home, I was amazed by how good it sounded - better than I had ever heard it. Really, like a new amp, or even better than that! It is fantastic. I am so happy with the results. If you have an older tube amp and it doesnt sound like it used to, you should bring it to Alvarez. I will bring all my musical repair issues to Alvarez in the future.

Awesome experience! It was my first time using Jesus services and I could not be more pleased. Honest, ethical and quality work was one on my amp. I thought it had some serious issues and needed a lot of repairs. I dropped off the amp and within an hour Jesus called me back with a diagnosis and informed me the repair was completed! Turns out it just needed a simple flush of all the controls and clean out some scratchy pots, etc.Jesus is friendly, communicates well and is a real professional. His shop is very clean and organized.I will be using him for all of my repair needs in the future.**Update March 2016**Went back to Jesus with a very rare handmade hollow body electric guitar.I was having a few cosmetic items changed (switches, pick up covers, pick up rings, etc)In addition I had him do a full rewire of the pick ups including split coils and switches.He took such care on everything and educated me about the guitar and how it will react in this climate. He really dialed it in perfect with his set up techniques.Could not be happier.

Jesus did a complete overhaul of my much used (and abused) 5150 amp that had finally quit on me. He completely re-tubed the amp, replaced a bias resistor, cleaned the pots, etc. Im more than happy with his attention to detail and great work, and am loving the sound of what is essentially a new guitar amp!Jesus was professional, friendly, quick with a quote, and service turn-around time. Went to get my new acoustic guitar set up and I got it back the next day. My guitar sounds beautiful and it feels so much better when I play. Jesus knows his stuff and is a cool guy to talk to. I will be definitely be coming back here in the future. I highly recommend this place.

Jesus did a great job repairing my amp. He was very fast (it was ready the same day) and reasonably priced. He took time to explain exactly what the problem was and how he fixed it. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I highly recommend going to his shop.

Jesus really is a pro and makes quick work of any project. I had an old Magnatone amp that he brought back to life and made it look and sound new. Dont take your stuff to the big chains as Ive had varying degrees or okay. Alvarez is worth your time and money.

Great new shop in the North end of Seattle. Jesus is a very knowledgeable dude, friendly, informative and fast! He had my amps tremolo fixed AND a Gibson acoustic set up and restrung in a couple of hours. And a very reasonable price. And zero of that gear-snob attitude or slacker ethos you get at too many shops. This guy aims to please and he does it! I was so impressed I took him another acoustic with a cracked top for repair.

Jesus is an awesome guy! The reviews on here and Yelp are what got me to try him. At other places you drop your equipment off and come back a week or 2 later. Not here! He fixed my Fender Deluxe amp in 20 minutes and charged a very fair price! I will definitely be using him for everything else in the future.

Jesus got my old GK RB400 bass amp up and running in no time for an extremely good price. I will be bringing many more guitars and amps to Alvarez Repair in the future. If you have any kind of issue with your guitar, amp or keyboard (and pretty much anything with electronics that makes sound?!) bring it to Jesus at Alvarez Repair. He is both an adept technician and great guy to work with. He has now worked on three different projects for me.The first was a bass amp. Though it ended up being irreparable due to the manufacturer no longer making parts Jesus charged not a dime even after getting up to his elbows to locate the problem.The second item was an installation of an LR Baggs Anthem pickup in my Martin. Not only was the turnaround super quick, he took the time to ensure it was setup properly and it looked cleaner than when I brought it in. Thats attention to detail.Finally I dropped off my churchs keyboard which had a sticking key. Jesus got in there, discovered it was actually cracked, ordered a new one and had it ready to go, working like new in short order.Go to Alvarez Repair and you will find professional care for your instruments as well as excellent, friendly service.

Ive gone to Jesus for both guitar setups and a malfunctioning tube amp. His prices are very good, and the turnaround is quick. The amp work was particularly appreciated, as it was losing power and I figured it was time for a full retube. Jesus noticed the bias was way out of whack and tested the tubes which were all okay, so the amp works great again and Im only out the cost of a bias adjustment. Plus, I got it back 2 days after drop off. The guitar set ups he did were great as well, I would highly recommend his services to anyone.

I had an amp with a vague it just doesnt sound right...-type issue that Id already taken to another amp tech, who had told me there was nothing wrong with the amp.I called Jesus and explained what I was hearing and he agreed to check it out. Sure enough, the amp was out of bias and he was able to make it sound right again. He checked the amp out, tested the tubes, adjusted the bias, and play tested it. Within a couple hours, my amp was back in business--for a very reasonable rate.Worth noting--my amp is an Engl, which is profoundly annoying to take apart and service (upside-down circuit boards, hot glue, etc).I will absolutely be taking my amps back to Jesus when theyre due for a tube change, or just sounding wonky. I have gone here for repairs twice and after the first time I knew that this would be where I go for all my repairs and I live in Mount Vernon, thats an hour way and honestly I would drive even farther if I had to because tone is worth it people haha. But seriously I gig a lot and I am an absolute tone nut so my standards are very high and Jesus absolutely blows me away every time. He has serviced my Fender Super Six twice and both times it has sounded so much better after I got it back, and that amp is not easy to fix or modify either. I will no longer let anyone else touch the inside of my amps and I will defiantly be returning here for all my guitar related repairs in the future. His prices are amazing, his work is amazing, and imho this level of expertise and professionalism is hard to come by and is to be valued greatly. His work has undoubtedly made me a customer for life and I am so glad that I found someone who is truly understands guitar equipment and how to maximize its potential. In the end of June, I decided to use service of above repair shop to check on my bass amplifier. The amplifier (Ampeg SVT 3 PRO) was in the working condition before the services but produced a little more distortion than I thought it should. Before I came I called the owner, Jesus, and described the problem and the model of the amp that I have. He said that he will check it. I brought the amp on June 27th and again described the problem. He guessed 2 possible reasons and written them down on the repair slip:1) preamp tubes 2) low bias. Less than 1 hour later, Jesus, called me and informed that he will not be able to perform work because amp got short in the output section and blows safety fuses. Next day, June 28th I picked the amp which was not in the working conditions at all. I started my research online and found out that whenever you do any work with tubes in this kind of amps you do not need to touch bias, especially without special equipment to track current flow, otherwise it can fry the output section. I called Jesus and asked if he did touch bias on the amp, his reply was that he did a very very slight turn, I asked if he used any equipment to track, he said that with his experience he doesnt need to as he knows what to do. I informed him about things that Ive read online and his first reply was that it will be hard for me to prove that it was his actions. I tried to explain that master of his level shouldve known and anticipate complications and ask my permission to do any risky adjustments like this, especially without special equipment. I took the amp to an official service center, where technician informed me that he saw this kind of damage before which only can be caused by bias adjustments. I contacted Jesus and requested him to cover 50% of repair cost, due to I agree that amp wasnt in the perfect working condition but it was working. His reply second time was that he didnt adjust the bias on the amp, therefore, he refused any compensation. He also pointed out that he web-site has a disclaimer that he doesnt service these types of solid state amps, which was weird to mention since I informed him about model prior. Maybe his a good guitar master, but I wont risk to bring my amp to this shop and rather go to official service center, as Jesus pointed out to me after his work :)

After my Fender DeVille started crackling and cutting out at our last show, I took it in for repairs at Alvarez Guitar, Amp, and Keyboard Repair & Accessories​ on Aurora. Jesus checked out my amp, found the issue (poor power tube connections), and swapped out one of my preamp tubes that tested poorly. I picked it up an hour later and paid $27. Hes only been there for a few months. If youre in need of repairs, go see Jesus. Keep him in business!

I visited Jesus at Alvarez Repairs for the first time last week. Its a nice shop, hes friendly and easy to talk to. Jesus really made me feel like he wanted to understand my issues and desires before he began working. He did a setup and fretwork (level, grind, polish) on my Strat. And he spruced up my Ampeg Reverberocket, adjusted power tube bias, tested all tubes, replaced one, cleaned it all out. He followed up afterwards to see how things were going. They both held up great through a 10-hour rehearsal last weekend. The Strat plays like a dream, and the Ampeg feels like its supposed to again. Will be back with my other instruments!
