Great service. Great advice. They are practical when it comes to service and completely transparent. I love that they send updates via text along with estimates and pictures. To sum it up, it is refreshing!!
Exceptional service! I have had my Outback serviced here for the past 3-5 years. They even provided a loaner car while my car was serviced for several days...note: this loaner car is a 2010 Forrester and it had 308K on it and it ran very well....therefore, Smart Service backs their quality of work...I believe it. My car purrs. Thank you Tom, I am grateful.
They have done all the maintenance and service since around 2012 on my 2010 Subaru Outback. They are timely, thorough, informative and reasonable pricing.
First rate friendly service. No pressure to make repairs. They made recommendations based on need. Very satisfied with the repair.
Awesome first experience! Very knowledgeable and very friendly. Warm and fuzzy feeling. Will be back soon!
Smart Service makes routine maintenance a breeze! They are also super helpful and friendly. I will only bring my Outback to them in the future. You can expect high quality work at a fair price. Smart Service keeps me feeling confident about my car and its reliability.
Best service! have been using them for around 10 years around. fixed any little hick up that has come up with speed, quality, and excellent service!
Awesome shop both at their Shoreline and Mukilteo shops. I very much trust them and do excellent work. They will not BS you like the dealer will. Price-wise they are also competitive, but all car work is expensive. Will continue to take my subie here for major stuff.
Great local shop, very knowledgeable. They assist when I have questions about a service I’m performing myself, and they are great about getting my vehicle in quickly when it’s something I choose not to do myself. The loaner car option is very convenient for longer services, and they are great about keeping me updated frequently, and before making any big changes or decisions. Very reasonable prices, estimated hours, and they consistently do GREAT work. Highly recommend
I recently sold my 2009 Subaru and the young man who bought it was told the catalytic converter was bad and it was going to cost him thousands of $$s to replace. Thankfully he called us and we referred him to Tom and Jess in Mukilteo for a 2nd opinion. It ended up being a minor fix to stop some rattling. I cannot tell you how relieved and grateful this young man was-as was I-the seller. :-) I have been taking my Subaru to Smart Service for years and they are the best. They really know their stuff and are honest and back up all they do. My new 2020 Outback is in good hands!
They were all very professional and went above and beyond! Will be back!
As always, the service was prompt from when I requested an appointment. Tom and the office kept me apprised of what they found and what needed to be done to get my aging Outback back up to speed. I credit Smart Service with keeping my 2020 vehicle running well as it approaches 300,000 miles. Thanks.
My coworker let me know our 2002 Legacy didnt have any break lights. Tom said; well get you fixed up this afternoon! Found my home for all future repairs. So happy.
Thank you ! You guys were so easy to deal with and the best price around !!
These folks are great. Honest, up front, and friendly, and they do excellent work. After six years of being a customer here, I have no complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend them!
My car would be in a junk yard long ago, if not these guys. Such an excellent care and genuine love to Subaru cars!
Had my 150K mile service done today. Was really pleased with the overall experience at this shop. It was my first time having my outback serviced not at a dealership, and I will definitely be back! The service advisors I worked with were genuinely kind and thoughtful and I appreciated that they seemed to want to give me and my outback the best care possible. Prices for services seemed really reasonable compared with the dealership, and they included multiple details of maintenance for no extra charge. Grateful to them for taking care of my car and therefore me!
I loved this place. They worked quickly, were professional, offered a lot of knowledge, and were reasonably priced. I can totally see why the AAA website recommended them so highly. They offer rewards and discounts after a certain amount of work is done AND discounts for referrals. Did I mention they have a loaner car if you need a ride? Even after I move to Tacoma I will gladly make the drive to this location.
I highly recommend Smart Service, as soon as I talked to Jess, I knew I had no worries, my 2002 Impreza WRX needed a lot of work and I couldnt be any happier with the result. ..great, professional work done!
A big thing for me is price, and the guys at smart service are always fair. They know me, they know my car, and they will give you a list of things they recommend you do in the future with cost estimates, so you know what yo save up and there are no surprises. These guys are a must for Subaru owners.
This shop is the best for all your Subaru needs. Be smart and get a quote for whatever you need done then talk to the good folks at Carter, they will try and price match or beat it but the crew at Smart Service is better with the actual work. Recently moved farther away so cant swing by like I use to but for the minor work its cheaper than the dealership
Smart Service has been, is, and will continue to be the ONLY place I take my Subaru. They have saved me money and done an absolutely STELLAR job every step along the way. They know their stuff and theyre incredibly friendly to boot!
My husband had ordered some parts and then ended up that he ordered the wrong ones. When we contacted them they were amazing about returning the parts and getting us other parts we needed. Melissa was great to work with and we will definitely be doing business with them again!!!!
Rip off shop. Came in with a rough idling car, they wanted 1600 for a new catalytic converter. Took to a different shop, Issue ended up being 1 coil pack for $130.For the record, a new catalytic converter is $250-500 for the part, and 9 bolts to take off. Less than 1 hour job. Will never go here again and make sure no one I know will take their car here.
Very friendly. Great service.
I had been going to another auto maintenance provider for more than a decade without complaints. But when the time came for the engine work at 95K, I wanted 1) Subaru specialists and 2) Excellent customer care (which was the reason for loyalty to the last shop).I called around to several service providers, but felt the most comfortable with Smart Service. I primarily spoke with Tom. They were up front about costs, guaranteed work to be done, and possible things to consider. When the call came with all the recommended work in addition to the requested one, I wasnt surprised or sticker-shocked. They took the time to answer ALL my nitty gritty questions and in the end I felt I got the absolute most out of my experience. When I needed to come in shortly after to have the idle reset via the computer, they had me in and out quickly. They had recommended changing spark plugs AND wires at the time of service in April. I knew I had the plugs at home and my partner could do that. I had meant to have him do the wires too. I told Smart Service we would take care of it. We did switch the plugs, but not the wires. By Thanksgiving, one of the wires had completely fried and Tom was able to get the car in immediately for evaluation (and get us a shop loaner) the day before Thanksgiving! We didnt know the cause of the problem at the time, just the symptoms (misfiring, warnings lights on, but still drivable). They were able to problem shoot, solve, and get a needed oil change done all by 3pm. This was an enormous relief since Id given this car to my mother, who watches my kids.In all, Ive been VERY pleased with the service and the customer care. This isnt the most convenient location for us to do regular maintenance, but we will certainly go to the for the big jobs again.Great experience :)
Very knowledgeable, and willing to help in any way they can
Out of all the places I tried to get a quote from, these guys knew their stuff. I asked for an idea of what I would be looking at to get a timing belt replaced and they told me exactly what could come up and how much it could potentially cost. Very fast turn around and they didn’t do anything extra without asking first. Car runs great now and if anything else comes up that I need help with, they will be the only shop I would call
Here you talk to knowledgeable experts on you car. You get the best service and advice and fair prices. You leave with a good feeling that your car is good to go.
I drive 26K-30K a year and they take care of all of my maintenance. On one service visit with my Forester they noticed a transmission leak and as it was still less than 60K recommended a visit to the dealer. After an initial brush off at the dealer and another visit to Smart, I took the photos from the Smart tech with me to the dealer and they then diagnosed the problem. I was now over the 60K. That said, after the initial issue, Carter was great and replaced the transmission no charge. Smart really saved my bacon on that one. Great service and crew.
Im very picky about who I allow to work on my car, and the guys up there always do a great job. I wont take my car anywhere but here for my Subaru only needs. Theyre down to earth, get the job done, and always let me know what to expect coming up for maintenance needs on my Suby. Highly recommended.
The guys at the Muk Smart Service are always awesome to work with. They assure me and make me smile...even when I have large repair bills. And they are very accommodating and quick when it comes to repairs. My car was done a day earlier than promised on my last visit. If you love their work, bring them donuts...they love it!
Im a mechanic so i could do all the forester maintenance on my own but Smart Service saves me time so i can spend it with my family. Ive had them replace center driveline, troubleshoot a noisy AC pulley bearing, full 120mi service (change all fluids and filters), timing belt/ water pump replacement, and a few other odds and ends. ive never had to go back a second time, they always fix my car correctly the first time.
Went in to pick up a couple bumper clips and they tried charging me over $11.00!!!! These clips can be bought anywhere else for $3. They also tried to overcharge me when I when I brought my Forester to be inspected. My dad owns a Subaru/Honda mechanic shop so I have a good standard to compare. Save your money from these crooks and go somewhere else!!!
I have recently shifted my 2008 Outback XT (just turned 100k miles) services from the dealer to Smart Service. I probably should have done this long ago. These guys make it a point to figure out the best available options and replacement parts, regardless of the price tag. They diagnose and communicate quickly and efficiently and got me back on the road. The issue that I took my car in has been healed. Thanks, guys.
What a great Subaru shop that is managed by Tom and DAn. I know I can drop of my Forester, leave town know only the work the car needs will be performed. It is hard to find a shop I trust as I do Smart Subaru in Mukilteo. Yes, I have and will recommend this shop to anyone that drives a Subaru. Thanks guys.
I would never think of taking my Subaru anywhere else. Every experience has been fast, honest, and fair. Ive been a customer for more than 6 years, at both locations, and have had excellent service every time.
Bought a newer but used subaru and took it to multiple shops no one could figure out why I was having misfire codes but they were able to figure out what even the dealer and other shops couldnt find was vvti gear was slightly different size and repaired a bunch of other problems I had at a great price will use them from now on if I ever have problems again and probably best customer service you can get from a repair shop
97 Impreza. Had an issue with starting. I towed it here since they specialize in Subaru. Got it done fast and cheap. Very nice.
They were very professional, got to work on my car right when they said, and they gave me a better price than the other shop I got a quote from.
Great Service! Would recommend these guys (Tom & Dan) to anyone needing Subaru service... Our 99 Outback has never ran better!
I was selling a Subie and needed to have a couple issues diagnosed. They were quick, thorough, accurate and friendly. I had an estimate by noon the night after I dropped it off. And there was no pressure to actually perform the repairs. They did recommend a serpentine belt and I had that done for the new owner. The rest were cost prohibitive and they said they completely understood. I got the car back, saw they had performed a courtesy safety check and everything came back perfect. They even left me a little goodie bag on the passenger seat. These folks are also strong supporters of the Arts at Meadowdale High School. I would highly recommend Smart Service for all your Subaru needs!
Was definately a little dissapointed with my inspection service. Previous owner had done an engine overhaul and there was an oil leak left somewhere so I decided to give these guys a try since theyre supposed to be Subaru experts. They said they would inspect it and see where my oil leak was coming from for 40$. I thought they meant trying to actually figure out where the oil leak was coming from, but that ended up not being the case. They just recommended anything that had oil on it, not taking into account how air can move the oil around. Came up with an over 1200$ quote for front cam seals, a rear main seal, and valve cover gaskets. I didnt believe them and sprayed everything down and checked it out myself, ended up just being an oil pan leak. Took it to Japanese Auto Care who fixed it for 200$. Bottom of the car is bone dry now.My recommendation to Smart Service, please be more accurate with your quotes, I would have been 1200$ deep into repairs that would have fixed nothing.
I was given different quote when I dropped my car from the quote I originally got on the phone. The quote at the store was actually rather competitive to the other repair shops but that was NOT the reason I went there. I went there because they gave me cheaper quote. Now I have to pay for diagnostic charge since I chose not to use this shop... Which they should have warn me about the charge---- usually repair shops would tell you it would the diagnostic charge would be. I should have listened to what Rachel from city radiator and just fixed it there... I would have saved that diagnostic charge.
These guys are the best!!!..They never try to sell unneed repairs .They genuinely care about your car♥️
The best experience I have ever had with a repair shop. Dan is a straight talking, no frills mechanic that tells you exactly what you need to hear. He eased my mind about my quite hasty and emotional purchase of a used 2008 WRX. After asking him if I should complete the purchase, Dan went on for about 2 minutes about why I should buy it and complemented my choice in a WRX. He showed me that there was true love in the work he does and it locked me in as a customer for life. Thats more than I could of ever asked for in a visit to a mechanic. I surely will be back!
Good, honest service. They beyond a doubt care about your subie. Fair prices for quality work.I have a 2011 STi and Im picky about who works on my car.
As a guy who is pretty familiar with cars, I can say this is hands-down one of the best shops Ive ever dealt with.Because my first sale fell through, I ended up bringing two separate 2009 Subaru Foresters to Smart Service for pre-purchase inspections within the last month. Both were great experiences. Now, Ive bought more than my share of used cars, often ones with imperfections, so Im /real/ familiar with pre-purchase inspections. As a young guy I also wrenched on Subarus a lot, from clutches to head rebuilds to engine swaps, so... you could say I know very specifically what Im looking for.Number-one in my book is a patient, thorough explanation of the findings, and both times I went in they were willing to spend a solid chunk of time explaining what they found in detail. That included going over each negative item to describe how much it would cost to fix and how long I likely had before I needed to make the repair. They also were clearly attentive to my level of expertise (solidly medium-low) and clearly adjusted their explanations to suit it.As far as what the inspection included, I was pleasantly surprised. One of the main problems with Subarus is head gaskets, and they not only did a coolant check, which is a pretty standard diagnostic for HG issues, but also test the exhaust for traces of burned oil. Many shops will only do the first one (if that). There were only two things I was ever-so-slightly disappointed in: The inspection apparently didnt include reading the memory from the computer (ECU), which I believe would show if the dealer/seller had cleared the check-engine light recently, and they also did not catch that the compass and autodimming functions in the mirror do not work, even though I specifically asked to take extra time if necessary checking the internal electronics. That said, the mirror thing is pretty darn minor, and I am not super familiar with how the new ECUs work, so I could be misunderstanding the situation there. And frankly, the integrity and patience they demonstrated in the rest of my two visits led me to believe that if they werent doing it, it probably wasnt critical.Ill definitely be going back.
Great mechanics, amazing service and join the rewards program, well worth it
We couldnt be happier. Smart Service did a great job on our Subaru. Well be back!
Tom very friendly and clean business
Ive used Smart Service for years and really appreciate the service and customer care they provide.
Repairs and maintenance performed flawlessly and quickly. Good wifi in the waiting area.
Need your Subee worked on by Subee experts... These guys are the go to independent shop....They say what they mean and do what they say, very honest and knowledgeable ... They stand behind their work.
I recently had my heads rebuilt and almost everything along the way replaced. (By a different shop). Was running great until a couple months later I was having power loss at high rpms. Took it to smart service mukilteo. Diagnosed it as a misfire but no codes which was weird. Quoted me on a set of new coils plus diagnostic fee. After a day of digging around and it still not being a coil or spark plugs. They went further into checking all connections on their dime. Found out the previous shop didnt plug in a cam sensor all the way.Super pleased with my experience. Ive always been skeptical of shops charging a lot more than necessary but i didnt have that experience here at all. They did everything they could and figured it out for a good price and not to mention sqeezed me in on a friday. Ill def be back.
We took our Impreza here when it started having acceleration issues. I was told that it would be a minimum 310.00 diagnostic charge because it would take hours to find, with no guarantee they could figure out what was wrong with it. I am not an idiot, so I took it to Japanese Auto Care Inc. They did what I thought Smart Service would have done... Hooked up to the COMPUTER that said it needed a sensor... Diagnostic Done! All within minutes, not hours... LOL! So JAPANESE AUTO CARE INC. fixed it and had us out the door within 45 minutes for $150.00!! So thank you Japanese Auto Care Inc.
