NEGATIVE STARS!!!! BE WARNED...YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY!! We rented 2 snowmobiles to ride on the groomed trails at Daniels Summit. Should have run away when we saw the condition of the sleds but he assured us he prepped them and they were in good running condition. Within 100 yards, one of the sleds stopped running altogether and we had to tow it back to the trailer and rent another one from Daniels Summit. Luckily we did because 10 miles in, the second one broke down (primary chain and brake mechanism) and we had to use the new rental to tow THAT one back!The whole day was ruined and then when we returned them, he was aggressive, cussed us out and threatened us physically. Wouldnt listen to anything we said and refused to give us our money back. This dude is BAD NEWS!!

If I could give negative stars I would. Trust the reviews and run the other direction!!!! You will lose your money and wish you would have seen the reviews before you rented from him. I could right a novel, but Ill stick to a few points.Machines DID NOT work properly! The machines were damaged as verified by a mechanic at the shop where we rented replacement PWC.Returned them early and was told we could negotiate at a minimum a partial refund(it was a weeks rental). Never received a single penny back. When we tried to reach him again, he screamed at me and cussed me out. We filed in small claims court and the clerk at the court recognized his name (no lie) from a recent case that he lost. Our constable tried repeatedly to serve him, but he was elusive. We finally decided it was not worth any more energy to pursue it further. This guy is bad news and I dont know how he sleeps at night. RUN!!!!

They gave us a boat that didnt have working power steering. I was sore just from having to throw my whole body into steering the boat. I looked in the engine bay of the boat, and the drive lube reservoir was completely dry, and unplugged. I would not recommend ever renting from here.

I was hesitant in renting wave runners due to the reviews posted by others and I figured Id give it a chance and give him the benefit of the doubt, the rental shop was his old business and his new business is golden rentals which he goes by both names. Well we showed up and we got the 4 stroke machine and tube to pull on the wave runner and the other looked as if it was from the 1980s and I was a bit surprised and still I was like ok no worries dont judge a book by its cover. The older model also had a huge patch of fiber glass underneath it and he said it was from the previous weekend and he didnt have time for a full fix and it looked like a disaster underneath and he guaranteed no issues at all so we went about our day and on our way. We went to take the wave runners off the trailer and the trailer wood was warped and destroyed and I was a bit surprised and was like ok not ruining my day. The wave runners ran ok for about an hour and they had some issues with acceleration, you hold the throttle and it would just sit there and rev up and then about 30 seconds later it would blast off on the older one and was great until u put a second person on the back and u would tip over or be off balance. The 4 stroke also had the issue and we just figured it was a dirty carb possibly and we were trying to pull the tube and max out between 3 and 6 mph and then we got tired of it and we took it off and tried without and keep in mind its a 4 stroke Yamaha 3 seater, still maxed out with 2 people 6 mph and was super annoying and In the end we arrived back to deliver the Machines and he was there in the window and seen us pull up and we went to un hitch the trailer and looked up and he was gone from the window and I knocked on his door to give him and ear full and no response and we called and still no response and we waited and nothing!!! What company or person rents wave runners and dont even inspect them on return with the customer and not even call back after we left a voicemail as well still its been a week and no response. Do not rent from him he does not have a good business!

We rented 2 jet skis for the weekend and had a blast! The jet skis worked flawless, they worked with no issues, they were ready for us when we came to pick them up. Will rent from here again. Best price we could find for 2 of them especially in such a short time.

Im new to Salt Lake City. This is my first Utah winter and I wanted to go snowmobiling. Golden Rentals set me up with two snowmobiles and a trailer for far less than some guided tour companies quoted me. The equipment worked great. I rented from them a second time when my mother came into town. She said it was the best thing shed done in a long time.The deal is this, you rent the snowmobiles and get a trailer to take them anywhere you want to go. I brought them back at sunset. Its the best deal I could find online. Of course, I used my truck to haul them. The snowmobiles need to be filled up with premium fuel before heading out. One tank took me around the Unitas mountains for hours. I had almost half a tank left when I could ride no more.I cant wait for spring. I plan on renting their dirt bikes. They have boats for rent but that doesnt interest me.

Pay attention, Im going to do you a favor. This business goes by both Golden Rentals and The Rental Shop. Ive rented from Kelly every summer for 15 years or so. The equipment is usually cosmetically pretty bad, but functional (again, usually). I had a mechanical problem 10 years ago, but he worked with me and brought out a different machine. NOT THIS TIME. We were sent out with a broken wave runner that had so little power, that a 180 pound adult couldnt even get enough speed (18 mph) to plane out of the water. What should have been a polite conversation to fix a problem, quickly turned into unprofessional nonsense. Ive heard and read about Kelly screaming at other clients, but I thought naively that hed never treat me like that. No worries I told him. Ill just have my credit card charge it back to you. Go ahead he says laughing. I closed my credit card vendor account. So I called Chase Bank and after they extensively investigated the matter, they contacted his bank on the closed account and charged it back. Now his bank will go after him. FOR THE WIN!! So do yourself a favor. Pay an extra $25 and go elsewhere. Youll get a better, working machine and someone who will stand by it.BTW, Ive even read reviews on snowmobile forums about this guy. Hes famous, just not in a good way.

Just like others sent out with a bad jet ski. Tried calling Kelly repeatedly he just wont answer. Should have listened to that voice inside that said this place is sketchy when he said he only takes cash.Said the jet ski was older but one of his more dependable jet skis. It died repeatedly when slowing down, wouldnt go over 18 most of the time. I will never rent from Kelly, the Golden or Rental Shop

Do Not rent from this place! I wish I had read these reviews before sending Kelly a check for $1,000. Our experience was almost exactly like the others. Found the shop on the KSL Classified adds. Seemed like a good price and the picture of the Waverunners looked great. We went the night before our trip to Lake Powell to pick them up and they looked terrible. IF they were the same machines from the picture, then the picture was ten years old! Didnt have any choice but to take them because it was peak season (July) and nothing else is available the day of. They both started and ran good enough to get out of the marina, but thats it. One stalled shortly after and wouldnt run the rest of the week. The other would go 8-10 MPH regardless of the size of the rider. Upon return, I talked to Kelly who argued and said he thought it was user error. He said he would look into it and get back tom me. After several calls over the next few weeks he said the it was the fuel pump, and clearly not my fault. He said he would refund $500 for that machine, but he needed a couple of weeks to get the money. Never heard from him again. I have called and called. Today, I called from a different number and he called me back. When I told him who I was and why I was calling he said, we have been out of business for several months now, not sure how to handle this. Then hung up on me. If you have to spend a little more to go with a reputable rental company, it will be the best money you ever spent!

Great prices even with last minute scheduling on our behalf upgraded us to 4 stroke waverunners for free supplied life jackets for everyone at no extra cost yes the machines were older but worked flawlessly no mechanical issues at all made for a great weekend thanks kelly

Read the small print folks, unlike most rental places Kelly wanted 100% rental deposit and wont refund a cent if there is a cancellation. High pressure sales full of BS to get your $s. The other negative reviews here are spot on, especially about the place being like a junk yard, dirty, filthy equipment...

Answers phone “hello” and sounded put out when I asked if it was The Rental Shop. Wouldn’t go through them for anything, if they were the only company that had what I wanted/needed.
