Kidding around his back and open. Wonderful toy store for most all ages baby and up. Outside scaffolding makes it look somewhat cold but once inside such friendly staff, clean, happy and upbeat atmosphere. Definitely recommend checking out on your next toy shopping trip.

Great kids toy store thats more higher end. A lot of nice wooden products that feel Scandinavian or Japanese in design. Also has a good selection of Jelly stuffed animals. I would definitely recommend this over a department store or other big box store

Such a good toy store!! We got help from an amazing employee who clearly has a great deal of respect for children. He was really knowledge and caring about children and gave solid suggestions. All of the toys we purchased have been a huge success with the children and parents.

Store had a great selection and was very clean. The staff was nice but until I approached them no one approached me. I asked a few questions about some of the toys and got the feeling the employee didnt really have an answer. Not knowing is a fine answer. So is let me check with my co-worker. However, they did have a lot of great things and I would really recommend Kidding Around if you are looking for a toy store.

If you need to buy a present for a little one, and you also love supporting small businesses, especially during this time, this is a great find in this neighborhood. The store is huge and has all the latest collections. Their gifts are well-organized by age categories.I didn’t have much experience buying for 3-year-old and really appreciated the help and recommendations from the staff at the store. My gift was a hit with the kid on his birthday. (They also do gift receipts.) No extra charges for professional and cute gift wrapping service too.Parents: they also have a changing station!!

I adore this local toy store!! They have the best selection of quality toys and fun gifts I have ever seen in one place. Their customer service is excellent as the staff is knowledgeable and helpful and as excited by their stuff as customers are.They wrap gifts and send to anywhere in the country so I can always count on them for presents even in Covid time.I would heartily recommend this store to either visit in person or online. You won’t be disappointed!

This is the best toy store, hands down! They always have an amazing selection of toys, games, and gifts. Everything is so thoughtfully curated, resulting in a perfect combination of toys and games that are educational, innovative, fun, along with the old classics. I havent lived in NYC in decades and I continue to do my toy shopping here. I miss the ability to walk in and wander around to see all the great choices but the online ordering couldnt be easier. I often call the owner Christina who downright gifted in helping me find JUST the right thing. She is a master at giving me choices for whatever Im asking for what do you have for an 8 year old girl or looking for something for a 12 year old who is into science. Her recommendations are always perfect and the recipients of the gifts are always thrilled.

Thie is not your typical toy store in that the selection of choices for customers are curated by the owners. They search for the unique, the memorable - the toy your family will want to keep and pass along to their own family. We have used Kidding Around as our first choice for gifts to our fifteen nieces and nephews. Now that they have families of their own they remain loyal fans. What a remarkable achievement for a small business.

Best toy store in the city, and now my go to spot. Theres no need to use Amazon again. Kidding Around has a great website. I ordered a gift to pick up in store, gift wrapped - it couldnt have been easier. I love their product mix - so much better than Amazon, its much easier to find the right gift.

I remember interviewing for a position at this store as a college student. I have a stutter and was told I couldnt speak correctly so I couldnt get hired. Hopefully, they have a new owner thats more accepting of disabilities and isnt living in the stone age 👍

Seems to me unfortunately that this store is only for the privileged. Walked in for the first time and wandered around for at least over an hour. No one ever approached me or even acknowledged me. The store is quite small so I could hear the employees asking everyone else if they needed help as they walked in and while looking around. At least 3 employees saw me.I went in as someone recommended some learning books and games for my 4 year old. Finally found them and I was so mad I wasnt going to spend my money there. I googled the product and found them on Amazon for cheaper. So much for trying to keep small businesses alive. Im all for that but when its made difficult I will Google.. What a shame as I wished I could find a spot I could walk into with my child to see her eyes light up. Would have been worth it for me.

What a magical experience for our daughter at Kidding Around toy store. We spent ages walking around and looking at all the toys on offer, our daughter was running around in excitement. All the shop staff was so friendly and so helpful.

I love this store. They curate interesting and educational toys for children. This is my go to store to buy gifts for baby and toddlers. You always find something different here. The staff is always nice and they provide free gift wrapping which is a plus. Overall I do recommend this store if you are looking for different toys and want to support local stores in the neighborhood.

We love to stop by here after a lunch at Potbellys and the fact that these people do not go crazy after seeing all their things man-handled by the 3 kids is amazing. I usually buy something for them- and they may be a bit pricey for some things- but we can usually find something in our price range.

Great Toy and Educational shop for kids. A variety to choose from, unique toys and they have a section where when you come in on your right, a shelf full of gift bags,(with select age preference),but the key is You cannot open to see whats in the bag, I guess its a surprise for the children. Cute right? Staff is great, and professional, tell your friends.

Never been into Kidding Around toy store had to wait for it to open at 10 am then there is an opening ceremony which was nice.Once inside I felt like a little person in a sweet shop ! Six floors of toys to choose from, staff were very enthusiastic and friendly and let you join in and have a go of the magic tricks or toys staff were modelling.

I enjoy looking at action figures and Kidding Around has a great selection of them. There are lots of figures that you wont find in American stores like Godzilla inspired figures or robots. Theres a backroom with the pricier, rarer items. Looking at all the Star Wars figures and others 80s stuff was like a trip down nostalgia lane. A fun place to browse.

Not the biggest toy store on the planet, but a great mix of popular items and niche / imported toys, with apparent focus on creativity. I picked up a dominoes set for my daughter with several apparatuses contained within, and shes already taken to stacking the dominoes and playing with the included devices - and there are plenty of other unique sets there, too. Its a bit cramped, but definitely worth the stop if youre in the city.

I think it is the best you store in Manhattan. Awesome selection. The staff knows their products well and are really good at making suggestions. Even when it is really busy during the holidays the lines are never too long. A little on the expensive side but they have a rewards program and free gift wrapping.

Great local toy store with a large selection of toys for different age groups. I really love that they have a lot of wooden toys, most shops these days only seem to carry plastic ones that have tons of lights and sounds.The staff was friendly and the service was fine, though they were a little robotic and it made it lose the family store feel that I originally had.

Great store with a lot of good toys but the staff was not helpful. The ladies that worked there were just chatting and doing their own thing while I needed their help but nobody came. All they needed was a Starbucks coffee and they would have been all set..... So annoying

A really fun toy shop for kids and adults. I bumped into Dave Chappelle there one time, and it was intimate enough to have a wee conversation, briefly. Suffice to say that it was a highlight of the year/my life to have the opportunity, combined with the fun toys, and I am thankful I went. :)

After going to 3 other stores first, I ended up here (cluelessly) searching for gifts for a 4 year old girl and 6 year old boy. The woman went out of her way to suggest many thoughtful and interesting toys. Then they wrapped them for free! Dont waste your time anywhere else, come straight here!

Great story great variaty of toys for all ages. Good to see a store that still has the neighborhood feeling on it. Location needs a little improvement since it is a little hard to notice from a moving vehicle, even a bike.

Medium sized store with a pretty wide selection of toys, costumes, science kits, and everything else. Just a warning this is an expensive store - my purchase was about $15.00 more than the on line Giants. But this was the only store in the seven stores I visited that had the item.

I am pleasantly surprised that I found toys here which I have difficulty finding even at Toys r Us. They have a good collection of schleich animal figurines. Found the puzzles that my son was looking for. They may be a bit understaffed but it was easy to get quick help at the counter.

It is a rather uninspired toy store, selling typical toy stuff. I went looking for birthday presents for 10 year olds and left empty handed. But at least they are still in business.

Its so hard to find good quality and interesting toys these days. Kidding Around carries many items that come from different parts of the world and not just from THAT one country. It is also nice to know that nonplastic toys are still being made. I was so desperate to find a toy store with good variety in every sense. It took an article NYC’s 6 Best Toy Stores, CBS New York to help me find what I was looking for. It seems true per the article that the toys here are carefully curated. I recommend this store for all, even for yourself as you may find one of your favorite toys from your childhood.

Everything about this store tells you that they think about what they sell. They are not slaves to the brands and they find toys that both educate and challenge. You just cannot leave the shop empty handed.

This is a great store. They have a really great selection -- as others have said, its curated rather than comprehensive, so instead of having a huge space with everything under the sun, its a carefully chosen set of high quality toys. To me this makes sense -- if youre looking for something specific (pink Groucho Marx glasses?) then youll probably just buy it online. I go to Kidding Around when I want to buy a toy but Im not sure what -- they always have lots of cool options to consider. The people I have dealt with are helpful and knowledgable. If youre a tourist visiting NYC and you want to go to a giant toy emporium that will make you dizzy, maybe go to FAO or Toys-R-Us in Times Square. If youre a NYC parent and you want a cool little shop with helpful staff and carefully chosen, high-quality toys -- go to Kidding Around.
