WOW!! Was 100% worth the wait. The best ribs in Nashville are found here. This was a highly recommended spot and I echo the recommendation. We ordered a half rack of ribs and the bbq pulled pork nachos. We favored the ribs more. The mac and cheese was also very delicious and I recommend ordering that as a side.Highly recommend coming here!
Solid BBQ spot in Nashville. I got their Dry rub ribs, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. I really like that they use the jumbo shells for the Mac. Flavor on everything was on point. I also tried the the cream cheese and pepper jelly appetizer, and I’ve got to say I think I enjoyed that the most! Very unique, props for putting that on the menu! Banana pudding was delicious as well
Ribs are tender and flavorful I would order mines without the seasoning. The sides are decent. I continue to have a hard time finding good sides and good ribs at the same place but these are both decent. This was the 1st place in Nashville I tried for BBQ upon hearing about the Peg Leg Porker history. The nachos are great. The beans taste authentic, not a fan of shells for Mac and cheese but these were good. The potato salad was okay, very creamy. Banana pudding was cookies, bananas, and banana pudding so sadly not good. I asked a couple of patrons about other BBQ spots only to find other tourist on the same mission. I will be back Nashville to find your best BBQ!
We recommend a stop here when in Nashville! Fun, unique environment, speed of service was satisfactory even with long lines, and our group enjoyed the majority of our meal!Hits: Ribs, Kool Aid Pickles, Regular and Hot BBQ sauces, Baked BBQ Beans, Sweet Tea, Apple Fried Pie, Peach Fried Pie, and Mac and Cheese! Each couple spilt a rack of ribs with two sides and it was perfect!I would pass on the coleslaw next time—watered down flavor and not creamy enough for my liking.
SO good! Visiting from TX, We were excited to try some Tennessee bbq. The ribs, Mac and cheese, and banana pudding you must try! Also recommend the kool aid pickles. The green beans personally lacked some salt and the sausage was too salty, but that’s all personal preference. Customer service was great and everything was worth waiting in line for. We got our food pretty quick once we placed the order.
Came to this BBQ place September 29th. The southern hospitality is always a great touch, and the guy cleaning the tables was very friendly. I truly appreciate him. The bar had many great local options. I decided to try the Pilsner, and it was very good -- super smooth and great flavor. I ordered the half rack of ribs, and my mom ordered the pulled pork sandwich. We both had the same sides: BBQ Beans and potato salad. The sides, for me, were the best part. Both were delicious. As for the pork sandwich, the coleslaw was great. The pulled pork, for me, didnt have a ton of flavor, but it was very moist and tender. The ribs were kinda dry for my liking, and with a good squirt of BBQ sauce they were better. I like my ribs a little more juicy, but these didnt seem to be that way. The flavor wasnt bad, but I was expecting a bit more. Still, a good place, and this was at 8:00 pm, so we could have been getting bottom of the barrel. I think its worth a shot a bit earlier just in case.
Another bucket list destination checked for me . Have wanted to get here for awhile and finally had the chance. Have heard of Carey and listened to him on multiple podcasts. Great listen .Food was fantastic . We ordered most of it . Memphis sushi, sausage cheese plate . Excellent. Pimento cheese was fantastic as well . Smoked wings which they crisp up at the end were really good also . I went Buffalo sauce seasoned . Not Too hot .Wife had the pulled pork . Great flavor as well
Words cannot describe how perfect of a place this was. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was laid back and the drinks were cheap. This is the best chill BBQ/Bar in all of Nashville. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The locals were great and I had some good conversations while hanging out. This will be my new hangout spot everyone Im in town. I cant wait to go back.
PORKTASTIC! Had a chance to visit one BBQ joint in Nashville and chose Peg Leg Porker after doing some research. The pulled pork was the star. We loved the smoked green beans, baked beans, and the macaroni and cheese actually had seasoning (unlike most places). I passed on the potato salad because they dont make it...pretty common at BBQ joints these days. Loved the mild sauce, the hot sauce and... THE WHITE SAUCE! You have to try it. About the ribs. Dry rub was tasty, ribs had nice smoke flavor...and were dry. Kind of disappointed in that. The food was done lightning fast and there was plenty of seating. The wait staff were not friendly, and the place is not spic and span. BBQ sauce all over the walls and artwork. Employees standing around talking. (Time to lean time to clean people). Homey, great food, and basically a dive. And yes, I would recommended it and go back.
I read several articles about the best barbecue in town in Nashville. Peg Leg Porker was one of the top barbecue places they said. My wife and I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The line was out the door and I ordered a full rack of ribs. I must’ve gone on an off day because the ribs that I received were not only dry rubbed but dried out. I’ve been other places where dry rub ribs are still juicy. I managed to choke down half a rack and I brought the other half home so that I could soak in the barbecue sauce and maybe reinvigorate to meat. It did not help they was still dried out. Maybe will go back Sunday but I don’t think very soon.
Ill start off by saying Peg Leg Porker is FAR better than the overlyhyped Martins Bar-B-Que joint around the corner with the ridiculous lines that wrap around the building. We got the pulled pork and half chicken platter - both delicious. The sides were just as good - the mac and cheese was perfectly creamy, the potato salad was just right and oh my goodness the banana pudding for dessert is a MUST! They also give out plastic soda cups that you can take home as souvenirs which was a nice perk considering we came in from Chicago.
Came here hunger, left fully satisfied. You haven’t had ribs until you’ve had Tennessee ribs and this is the place to get some of the best. I went with the dry rub full rack with Mac and cheese and green beans. Fantastic! The ribs were cooked perfectly, all meat, no fat, fell right off the bone. The rub was delicious but I ended up adding their mild and hot bbq sauce as well. The Mac and cheese was over the top with shell noodles, perfect ratio of cheese and noodle. Highly recommend peg leg porker when visiting Nashville
This place knows what theyre doing. We sat down at the bar and ordered nachos and a half rack of ribs. I went to the bathroom and came back, and the food had already been served. I couldnt believe it. I didnt even go number 2!It couldnt have been more than a couple minutes from the time we ordered to the time we were shoving mounds of meat down our throats. The service was friendly. The food was terrific. I dont leave reviews too often, but they really deserved it!
I really thought this would be another tourist trap with bad food but oh boy I was so wrong. That is some of the best pulled pork Ive ever had. I got the nachos with a side of Kool Aid pickles (probably wont get those again, they were good but I really just wanted to try them). I will for sure go back for the nachos again, and Id really like to try their ribs.
Bad!!! We ordered online and it said on the website curbside and window pickup available. So when we got there it said the window pickup was closed. I waited in line inside for 15 min then an employee told me to go to the window for pickup. I was confused cause they had a sign saying it was closed AND an employee told me to come in. I went back outside again only to be told to come back inside. In the end I called and asked that they refund me my money back. They need to change their website to clearly state No curbside and no window pickup available.
The place didnt live up to its hype: The beer selection is great, food quality wasnt. We ordered BBQ ribs, brisket and chicken. The sides were great, the meat was very dry.
The food was absolutely 💯! Best food we had while in Nashville! They have cute murals on the side of their building. Kid friendly. Their food is where you order at the counter and sit down with a bar on the opposite side of the food counter. We tried their unique Kool aid pickles, interesting in a good way. The reason I gave a 4 star ...and really almost a 3 star was because of the bartender Emily B. She had the worst attitude that really ruined our experience there. We originally ordered 2 margaritas that were really not great..and she seemed quite annoyed even though it wasnt busy. I took them back with my receipt and nicely asked if we could get something different because we werent fans. I asked for a bud light lime...she offered bud light w limes on the side. Ok perfect...no problem until I asked if she wanted my receipt to adjust the amount, she just said no and started stocking again. Maybe she was having a bad day but it was really mood flattening at 2:30p in the afternoon. Again, the best food we had in our 5 day stay in Nashville.
Okay, okay, Im feeling this! Ive had some que from some of the best in the nation (17th Street BBQ (IL), Southern Soul BBQ (GA), etc) and I see how these folks won their trophy (see pic). I rate whats offered and dont deduct because my preferences werent met. Having said that, these may be some of the best rubbed ribs Ive ever had. They may just convert me! I could see where it may be much for the uninitiated, lol. We had an assortment of dishes and every plate was cleaned. We also enjoyed the pepper jelly cream cheese with crackers as well.Line moved fast and food arrived quickly. They have a rooftop option that we didnt take advantage of, but we did sit out on the front porch comfortably on a 90 degree day (see pic). Last thing, while youre there snap a quick shot with the amazing artwork across the alleyway!
Had a great meal of a half rack of ribs with a nice dry rub on it. Also included two sides. Plus got an order of pork rinds that were delicious. The pulled pork looked and tasted fantastic also. This is a great family restaurant very quaint very fast service prices are extremely reasonable. Highly recommend it.
We were referred to Martins and peg legs, definitely glad we chose peg legs! Dry rub on the ribs was awesome, I added sauce to some as well and it was delicious both ways. Ribs were well cooked, almost fall off the bone but definitely not tough at all. She got the pulled pork and said that was very good as well. Mac and cheese was some of the best that Ive had in a while. Worth the short wait for this food!
Worst BBQ I have ever been to I live in Carson City Nevada. I have eaten from some of the best BBQ rib masters at the Best Of The West Rib Cook Off in Sparks Nevada. If you dont mind extremely dry ribs and dry chicken and only one sauce to choose from then Peg Leg Porker BBQ is the place to go. I went to Central BBQ in Memphis a couple of days ago and WOW ribs and chicken were extremely moist pull off the bone ribs and chicken great flavor. They had several types of sauces all were great I would give Central BBQ 6 stars.Dana.Carson City NV.
These are quite possibly the best ribs I’ve ever had. Managed to save a little room for one last BBQ stop before heading out of town and this was the right spot. Arrived just before the lunch rush and the rub on these ribs was fantastic! Combined with just a little of their tangy sweet slightly spicy BBQ sauce on top and it really is some phenomenal Tennessee BBQ!
Very tasty. The best thing was definitely the smoked chicken. Ribs were good but not enough meat. The white sauce was also AMAZING. Mac and cheese was pretty tasty as well. Weirdest thing I tasted for there were the koolaid pickles but they tasted pretty good as well. Definitely would recommend anyone in Nashville to stop by for some good food.
The food here is amazing! The only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is because my friend and I both agreed that the dry rub wasnt as good as we were expecting on the ribs. The ribs were still extremely good though highly recommend. Other than that the Mac and cheese, potato salad, and baked beans are some of the best Ive had. Their mild and hot BBQ sauces are also delicious with the perfect amount of flavor and spice!
Best ribs we have ever had in our life! We ordered ribs, chicken and numerous sides and desserts! To be completely honest outdistancing ribs, service and a fair price. However Martin’s has better everything excluding ribs!
If you’re looking for great BBQ then this is the place! The dry rub has phenomenal flavor! The ribs are exactly how they should be! They are tender and juicy yet still firm enough to not be falling apart! The BBQ beans are the best beans I have ever had!The BBQ sauce also has a unique sweet taste that complimented well!
Great place. Awesome back story to how it started. Go check it out.
Missed reviewing Peg Leg Porker BBQ. All of the barbecue places we visited while in TN, were based on what the internet gave as the best reviews according to customers, magazine articles, etc.Peg Leg Porker BBQ is a very casual place with informal seating and self service, in that you go in, order your food, pay, get a number, and pick it up at the counter when your number is called. You sit where you like while you wait, though the wait is brief. The bar is at the opposite side of the room, and you order your drinks to bring them back to your table. There seemed to be a regular customer clientele seated here.On my companion’s quest for great barbecue while in TN, this was on the must visit list. We ordered a rack of ribs to share and the mac and cheese side along with crinkled fries. The dry rub and the ribs were good. The sides were average. Tables with students and seniors appeared to be having a good time whether eating ribs, pulled pork or wings. The prices are reasonable. There is a lot of brand merchandise for sale for customers who love this place or visitors who choose this as a destination place. Worth the visit if youre visiting multiple barbecue places to find what you consider the best..
First visit to Peg Leg Porker to try out the award-winning barbecue. The moment you walk in youll be met by that smokey smell that lets you know your in a real barbecue joint. The service was fast and friendly, even during the really crowded lunch hour. I didnt have time enough to fill up a drink at the soda fountain before my name was called and my meal was ready. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but the bun is really thick. I was able to cut the top layer of bread in half, long-ways and still had plenty of bread to cover the top of the sandwich and eat with my hands.Every pulled pork sandwich comes with Cole slaw on top. I wish I had known this because an order of slaw on the side is a bit unnecessary. As for sides, I recommend the potato salad and bbq beans. Theyre really good! The ribs were the real winner! The dry rub is fantastic and they taste smokey and delicious.Good food, good visit, worth trying it.
Peg Leg Porker certainly lived up to the reputation. We stopped in Nashville for a day and wanted some authentic Tennessee BBQ, and we werent disappointed. We got the pulled pork sandwich and the dry rub ribs, both of which were amazing. The house sauce was delicious and a great addition to the food. The reason Im giving four instead of five stars is that the staff were not very friendly and the restaurant could have been a little cleaner. Ive worked in food service and understand that at a busy time it can be stressful, but a little kindness goes a long way in making customers want to return. Additionally, the food was good but seemed a little pricey for the quality and the atmosphere.Overall, we were happy we went and would go again if we are in Nashville.
Best BBQ in town. You will not be disappointed with the Pulled pork sandwich. When you come in, you order at the counter and in a few minutes, your order is ready. The pulled pork is tender and juicy. Their sauce delicious. The fries were cooked perfectly and the beans had a little bit of meat that gave it that extra something.I would definitely return. The patio upstairs is nice to sit at on a beautiful day.
Coming from Central TX, I expected a different bbq experience than back home. I wasn’t disappointed. The ribs were great, moist and flavorful throughout. The sauce definitely took them over the top. The wings were similarly excellent, maybe even better than the ribs. Pulled pork sandwich was good, although not quite as tasty as the ribs. Sides were all good, the beans much more like Boston beans than I’m used to with bbq.The only downside was the bar. There was a good selection of beers, but the bartender had no interest in recommending a local brew, even after I told him I was from out of town and wanted to sample a couple locals. I think I got about 10 words out of him.
Mouth watering, soul quenching, finger licking BBQ! Had the ribs, fries, smoked green beans, banana puddin and side of hot sauce. The only issue was...I only ordered half a rack instead of a whole rack. I couldnt quit eating, IT WAS AMAZING. Beats Edleys all to pieces. Best BBQ Ive had in Nashville, period.
Stopped her on a road trip rib tasting based on the reviews and it didnt disappoint! Their signature ribs come with a dry rub only which I was intrigued about because a mediocre rib can hide behind its sauce. Aside from the fact that they had award winning sauces, the ribs didnt need any at all! The dry rub had great flavor and was cooked gracefully. If Im ever passing through again, 10/10 would stop there again
Just ok. I thought it would be better. Didnt even send barbecue sauce with pork barbecue. Fries were tiny crinkle cut. Nothing was bad I just thought it would be better. A lot of people talk about how good it is.
So incredibly delicious. BBQ NACHOS! So good we got another to go. Ribs... Delectable. Mac n cheese...i was totes jelly of my children. Not too thick and creamy, but just the right amount of milky with a touch of sweet. Perfect. BBQ beans were awesome, and the pulled pork sandwich was amazing with that slaw. Go there!
We were excited about visiting because of the hype around Peg Leg, but left quite disappointed. The BBQ was quite fatty, and we asked for the Cole slaw on our sandwiches to be put on the side and was told we would be charged as a separate side if we did. The only reason I didnt give it a 1 star was because the green beans were pretty good. Make your own judgements, but we probably wont be back.
Peg Leg is my favorite BBQ spot in Nashville. The ribs fall off the bone, the mac & cheese is flavorful, not bland, and the green beans are delicious. On top of that, the people who work there are so nice and friendly! They will regularly run out of certain things (pulled pork most of the times Ive been there), so if you have your heart set on something in particular, make sure to get there early!
This BBQ is the best that I have ever had. I live in Michigan, and have come back to this places twice. Stop at this spot if you want real BBQ. So good!!!
A must stop while in Nashville! Everything is good and its a small bussiness with great service and food a win win ALL around! Anything you order is going to be amazing give it a try you wont regret it!
We drove 1 1/2 hrs to go to a place rated to be the best in Tennessee. The food was good, but not good enough to drive that far for. I would go if I was already in the area, but honestly Shanes Rib Shack is still better.
The pork half rack was amazing! And make sure you get the Mac and cheese side! So so so good!
I will start off with the pork is delicious and worth going for that regard. But there are limited options. We got the Mac and cheese. Pork nachos. Pork plate and pork sandwich.I would suggest getting the nachos. You get the same amount of pork as the pork plate and you can share.Mac and cheese was a little bland but the smoked green beans were very Smokey and delicious.
Ribs and pulled pork amazing. Baked beans and macaroni were excellent. Highly recommend
Great vibes and even better food. A dry rub isnt my favorite on pork ribs, but it was delicious. They have a wet sauce that can be used in conjunction. The bbq beans are great and my wife says the potato salad and banana pudding were excellent. Although the line is long at lunch time, there is no need to reserve a table. Orders go quickly enough.
Peg Leg Porker was really good.We visited while comparing a bunch of BBQ places and we were not disappointed. The prices and service were really good. All of the food was excellent. We all tried the ribs and chicken with their dry rub and there were mixed reviews. Some of us didnt love the dry rub, but a few said it was their favorite! In general, it was enjoyed ore on the ribs than the chicken. All of the other meats were really good. And the barbecue sauce itself was excellent. They had really good sides. The green beans were amazing!! They were super smoky and delicious. Best green beans of the 10 places we visited! The mac n cheese was peppery and excellent as well! I highly suggest both of those sides!
Pork was cold, bun did not compliment the pork - it was a cheap bun. Tater salad was bland. Looked like a cool place and the locals seemed loyal. My rule is if you need to add bbq sauce to your sandwich then the pork isn’t stellar
Oh my gosh! Stellar smoked green beans so tender & tasty. The dry rub hot wings fall off the bone... So tender & flavorful with just enough heat thats pleasurable. The couple celery, carrot sticks & dip complemented. Easy, comfortable digs with the extra bonus off outdoor seating. Outdoor seating doesnt have optimal scenery but the nummy food makes it fastastic nonetheless. Cool wearbles & novelty trophies are interesting as well.
Not bad at all. Full rack was a bit dry on the ends, but I like beef jerky. As I moved to the middle of the rack, the moisture was great. The green beans had a strong smoked taste that could be dialed back a bit. The slaws taste was a bit bland, but not bad. That could be due to me using their hot sauce with my ribs. My wife had the pulled pork, tater salad, and green beans. She raved about the pork and tater salad, but had the same feeling about the beans. The atmosphere was great. The speed of service was phenomenal. In spite of a long line, things were cruising along nicely. I dont think we waited more than 3-4 minutes, after sitting down, for our food.
The food was delicious. The mac and cheese was probably the best Ive ever had. The atmosphere is very nice and there is alot of space inside.
BEST BBQ in Nashville. Whatever you do, make sure you order the pulled pork nachos. So good! The pork is juicy and full of flavor! I also was very pleased with the Mac and cheese! Good BBQ, fast service! Would totally recommend!
Amazing ribs, and the lunch combo is an absolute winner.
WOW! It was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding! We had our food in less than three minutes of placing our order. The taste of the barbecue was amazing, I had the Soul Potato and I was totally impressed! The homemade pork skins are to die for!! We will definitely be return customers A++
Didnt love the ribs, not really my style since they were dry. Pimento cheese was delicious and so was the Mac and cheese. Might be some of the better bbq in Nashville since I dont think they are really known for it. Dont plan on visiting again. Wait staff was kind and friendly.
This was really really solid barbecue. I came here after a disappointing meal elsewhere and this was a great pick-me-up. Tender ribs and tasty brisket. I would come here again. Service does leave something to be desired.
Super fast, amazing food! Service was quick, friendly, and happy. Servings are huge! BBQ nachos were big enough for 2 people. *Photo of half of an order.
