I dont need to fabricate any yarn but as I tend to measure twice and cut once, well, the place had my wife and I in stitches. Sew...this post is placed praising the personable, pleasant professionals in particular. The was a treasure trove or variety of various wares everywhere...We shall return! ...but I gotta bolt.

I discovered Fabric Place Basement for the first time by doing a search online while looking for hidden knitting shops in areas outside of my location. Not sure why it popped up for the first time but happy it did. I was impressed with the wide selection in a somewhat compact area of the store. Its easy to find the yarn you are looking for and their staff are always friendly and provide help with your project and yarn selection. I have been there twice this month and will plan to return. Janice assisted me with a variety of questions about yarn selection and other ideas I have about combining yarns together for unique patterns. She is an experienced knitter and very patient with customers. Prices are reasonable and hours of operation are more generous than some of the other yarn shops.

Great store! I am a beginner sewer and the staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Not a huge selection of linen fabrics, but tons of everything else. Also, they have a nice yarn and knitting needle selection.

Many of the ladies who work here are rude, rude, RUDE. I asked the woman at the front desk where to find something and she just blank stared at me. Some of the other employees were extremely condescending and totally unhelpful. No wonder the business is shrinking. Attitude comes from the top and its clear as a bell that the owner is disgruntled because almost all of their employees are. It is REALLY not that hard to be polite and point customers in the right direction. And the prices arent anything special. Id rather just order from Etsy for a few dollars more.

So happy I finally got to check this place out. Way more quilting fabrics then the local big box stores! I love that you can buy 10 fat quarters and get 5 free! The employees that I interacted with were so friendly and helpful! So much fabric here for fashion, quilting, home decor, etc. Not only fabric but all the accessories for the above as well. They also looked like they had a pretty great yarn selection as well!

A very large selection of fabrics, sewing supplies, yarns, knitting supplies, and stuff for upholstery, including custom-cut high-density foam. Includes a large selection of Batik dyed fabrics in a wide range of patterns. Fabrics range from gossamer to heavy-duty canvas and drapery. Helpful and knowledgeable service.

The only place in the area with quality fabric. Many interesting and designer pieces and a magnificent silk collection. A must go to if you are a designer or even a beginner sewer.

Drove an hour and a half and was bitterly disappointed. Was walked past by 3 separate staff members with not as much as a “hello.” After tracking one down and asking what fabric I was looking for was located, I was led to the general area and the staff member promptly left. I was looking for a satin/silk like fabric for a costume and found the color I was looking for quickly, but nearly every fabric was carelessly rolled, wrinkled, and dirty on the edges (probably from customers pulling the rolls out of the display.) It’s really difficult to find any kind of decent selection of mid-priced special occasion fabrics in area, so I guess I need to keep looking.

Im so lucky to live a short 10-minute drive from here. It is absolutely my Happy Place! Im not really a quilter but to me their selection of quilting fabrics is a bit larger than their fashion fabrics. That said, they have a back room with tons of stock not yet out on the showroom floor, and the staff has never been less than helpful and polite. A real treasure for those who sew!

Easy to park and get too, not a busy store, BUT sales ladies are the most unfriendly un helpful sales people I’ve ever seen besides about 2 of them. Idk why they are so grumpy but every time I’ve been I leave swearing I won’t go back. I go back because it’s easy and they do have a fairly good selection of buttons, sewing notions and fabric. Nothing super clever or unique, but nice.

I would have never known they have so much yarn if someone hadnt told me. Neat place to go and look around. You are able to make returns of yarn with a receipt (I called and asked).

The Fabric Place Basement has a HUGE selection of fabrics, notions, crafting and sewing supplies. I challenge you to NOT find what you need. I felt like a kid in a candy store here. So many beautiful fabrics to choose from and the prices were very reasonable. This will definitely become my go to fabric store. Looks unassuming from the parking lot, but is HUGE once you get inside the store.

This store is a 2-hour drive from my house, but the trip here was worth every second in the car! They have hundreds of home decor fabrics, rows of trim, and anything else youd need for a sewing project - big or small. The store is super clean and well organized. Worth an hours drive. A bit tricky to find, even with a navigator. My friend found perfect home dec fabric for her project and I found yarn from Tibetan yaks, with which I hope to make a cheery project for a beloved Tibetan family member. They cheerfully give snips of fabric for color comparison or project suitability research.No bike rack. Stairs down to store (it literally is in a basement) but there is an elevator.Rather crowded with products & hard to navigate. See photos. People were knocking down merchandise left & right, even without a cart. Cannot tell you about public transit convenience. Plenty of parking & near major roads.I look forward to going back.

A giant underground warehouse of a room full of fabric. Good variety. I love the large button bin, a tank full of mixed buttons to pick on, a few, or many. One corner of the store has yarn. Better yarn selection than a craft store, including some sock weight and laceweight options. Friendly staff. note that their restrooms are on the upper (ground floor/entry) level.

My mom and I (who have negative fabric experience between us) were struggling to match colors for a cosplay. Karen asked if we needed any help and we agreed. She help us pick out colors and fabrics based on drape and then helped me learn to read for yardage on the back of my pattern. She made this experience fun and amazing. Thanks, Karen!!!

Fabulous place to shop for fabric. You can dash in and find what you want, or ask for help from the friendly and intelligent staff OR you can browse for hours in peace if you like. There is so much wonderfulness to discover in this store, Im usually there for at least a few hours. Fantastic selection of fabrics from fleece to the fanciest possible formal/bridal/pageant wear. Their home dec department would be hard to beat anywhere, and if you dont see what you like, just ask: theres always more coming in. Great prices, too. The yarn selection is comprehensive, and best of all, there is usually enough of whatever you are looking for to actually make something, unlike most shops, which only have a few skeins of most of their yarns. There are books, patterns, and zippers by the inch. Dont get me started on the trims. This is where your home dec project goes from crafty to couture, and it is probably the best selection Ive ever seen. Whatever your inspiration, this is where you can get the stuff to make it happen. The owner and employees know fabric and sewing, and truly enjoy knowing they are helping their customers create things that are way beyond the ordinary. I cant wait to go back.

The Fabric Place MADE MY DAY today!First, I was able to quickly find 2 new vibrant yarn colors I needed for an afghan project I am working on at home. Their selection is fantastic and is displayed in such user-friendly fashion that I feel like a little kid in a candy shop wanting one of those, and one of those etc.!Secondly, when I asked the very helpful Janice, who was overseeing the knitting department, if they would consider a donation to a women & childrens shelter in Boston where I teach a weekly knitting class, her eyes lit up with interest! I couldnt have asked for a kinder, more generous response! I was reluctant to even ask at first because I know FPB only carries high quality yarns, yarns that knitters love to grab when their remains are discounted. We were running out of yarn at the shelter and I was dreading the likely run around I would get at the big chain stores, so I decided to start my search where I bought my own yarn, and am I glad I did! I not only found myself leaving Fabric Place Basement with a bag of beautiful yarns for the women and kids at Crossroads Family Shelter, but a new business partner!

Deceptive, rude, misrepresenting sales personnel from floor salesperson to owner! Clearance merchandise 3 tiers deep into the clearance aisle with red tag and expressly represented as clearance is misrepresented as regular price upon purchase. And when confronted, the customers are accused of misplacing merchandise. Not a reputable business and clearly the reason why they are now a fraction of their original size. In accordance with the Better Business Bureau, businesses are responsible for depicting their merchandise correctly so that customers can rely on it. To do otherwise results in fraudulent business practice in violation of the law. NO WAY TO DO BUSINESS

Now I know why the store is getting smaller and in the basement because of this short white hair awful old sale ladie is the most Rude Unfriendly Unhelpful Grumpy sales people misrepresenting sales personnel from floor.

I was on the ASG bus trip from Albany,NY on October 1st, 2016. We were welcomed & treated royally with discount coupons on the large inventory of all kinds of quality fabrics & access to a room where we could rest & relax that included snacks & refreshments. We enjoyed a great experience!

Sewing having decreased in popularity, Fabric Place is sadly only a basement shadow of its former, grand self, but its still the best place to buy fabric in the area. We all used to shop at the main store when I was studying costume design in grad school. A few decades later now, I wistfully noticed a young person, clearly a design student swatching for a project. The folks at Fabric Place know their stuff and sell many types of fabric from decorating fabrics to fancy-dress goods and trims. Highly recommended.Update: After a recent visit, Ill change my review to reflect disappointment with Fabric Place. It apparently isnt all that it was in terms of both custoner service and good deals.I purchased foam rubber for a large window seat cushion. I was in a rush so didnt buy online. I had checked several online suppliers and knew their prices were better, but I hadnt memorized their price lists. When I got home with the cushion, I checked online again for the specific size Id purchased. Several places advertised prices less than half if what Fabric Place had charged.I ordered two bolsters online for the window seat. I wanted to compare the quality of the foam rubber. The cushion from Fabric Place looked old, already turning color and somewhat dirty, as if it had been sitting around for a long time. The bolsters appeared brand new, clean, and of much better quality.So, very bad deal on the foam rubber from Fabric Place.Ok, but I also needed fabric. I found some yardage that I liked and got a swatch. I live a distance, so I asked whether, if the swatch looked good at home, I could call and purchase the fabric on the phone with a credit card, so Id know itd still be there after I made the long drive again. The answer was a curt no. No reason. Just no.Id just spent considerably more than $200 on significantly overpriced foam rubber, yet the sales person didnt seem to care one bit about helping me to purchase fabric or understanding my concerns about possibly making a long drive for nothing.I ended up purchasing equally nice fabric online for considerably less.After decades of shopping at Fabric Place, im not sure Ill return.

Awful employees, so condescending and unhelpful they nearly drove me to tears. I was there to find materials to construct a Halloween costume. I asked one woman to point me in the direction of a certain fabric pattern, because I had never been there before and its a HUGE room, and was unsure of where to look for materials for my costume. The first words out of her mouth were, I cant just hold your hand and walk you through it. If you dont know your own inventory, thats not my fault, dont treat me like a child. Later I approached a different employee to ask where I could find some cotton batting, and when I told her I was making a costume, she said, Oh, so YOURE the one with the costume. Clearly the first woman had been gossiping/talking sh*t about me for making a homemade Halloween costume. Not sure what her problem was, but I spent a good 20 minutes in the rug section calming myself down because of how infantilizing and disrespectful they were.

She had spotted the Fabric Place Basement on the internet and was thrilled that I lived near by. She was amazed on the selection, quality and price of the fabric. She spent at least a couple of hours walking up and down the isles. She selected 3 pretty pattern knit fabric that she intends to make dresses and a jacket with. She has plans already to return! She also liked the warm service she received while she was visiting. Even pleasantly surprised that they offered her a cookie after her shopping spree! Im glad she loves the Fabric Place as much as I do!

Theres nice fabrics, but a little overpriced. the staff were pretty rude as well. gave my friend a student discount no questions asked but made me tell them what level in school i was, where i went, and my major, and when i finally got through all that they wouldnt give me the discount because im not a fashion major.
