This place is the best for getting what you need for sushi or Japanese curry. The prices are great even compares to local big chains. Such a wide variety of everything youd want as well. Was able to get siracha, two types of soy sauce, chopstick helpers, seaweed paper, mirin and miso paste.Also the sushi in the back is great.

Kyoto gift & food offers many asian treats in a small location & much better pricing than Kearney Mesa area asian stores. Get fresh sushi in the back section, freshly hand made by Chef Jeff Roberto! This is a hidden gem on Sweetwater Rd near NFCU.

This was our go to Japanese store when my kids were young 30 years ago. It hasnt changed much after living in Japan for 10 years. San Diego now has a lot to offer when it comes to Japanese cuisine but Kyoto Gift & Food gives your sashimin or sushi bento a very personal touch. Still love this tiny store. 💖

If you are in the south bay, before trekking your way to the Kearney Mesa/ Claremont area to get your Japanese goods PLEASE stop by here first. They may have just what you need. They even have a sushi chef on staff. You just might even run into me there buying bags of goodies.

Kyoto Gift and Food is an interesting place! It is small, quaint and quirky! Its was awesome that they were making fresh Sushi and have yummy Japanese Osenbei and other items I could not pick up at the local Marukai or Mitsuwa. What made me laugh was all the comical t-shirts that they were selling. The one I took a picture of made me laugh the hardest!!!

Little Japanese import store / sushi bar. I like the closeness so that I don’t need to make a trip to Kearny Mesa. A lot of stuff is cheaper than Mitsuwa as well. They got things like Natto which is a bit hard to find and seaweed salad in the fridge section that my kids love. Sushi isn’t bad either.

I love this mini Japanese store. I come here for our favorite snacks for kids (sea weed, sweet crackers, mochi) and adults (variety of sake). I recently tried the poke bowl and it was so tasty. Just the right size portion and the ahi taste so fresh, i didnt need to add flavoring to the fish to eat it (like some chain places Ive been to). Ill keep coming to the little store for all our Japanese necessities.

Not much selection compare to big Japanese groceries like Marukai, but if you live in National City or Chila Vista this small store is very close and convenient. They have the essentials you need to cook an authentic Japanese food.

First time today and I loved it! Very friendly and helpful. I was on my lunch break looking for some plum wine and also ordered some very yummy sushi rolls. Will definitely be back soon!

Called ahead for some caterpillar rolls and was able to pick them up in 10 minutes! Very fresh and tasty, and extremely reasonable. Very personable staff and well stocked store....I couldn’t help buying some snacks and treats-yum!!!

A nice little Japanese convenience store. Buy ingredients for your homemade ramen or go with instant. The pre-made sushi rolls and made to order bowls make for a light, tasty snack for a decent price. Pick up some mochi ice cream for dessert.

Its a small establishment, but its packed with lots of Japanese necessities. Everything is labeled and easy to find. This is now one of my favorite little shops.

A really cute and small Japanese food store, but there are still plenty of items to choose from. Its nice to have this nearby since Mitsuwa is farther north. The owners are also very nice and make the store very welcoming.

Love it that this place is in the southbay... Dont have to make the long drive from chula vista to clairmont. The inside of these shop is small but quaint, like a mom and pop shop should be. They carry lots of items you would need if cooking any japanese dish. They also prepare and sell sushi, as well as poke. Prices for the prep food is fair.
