I read about the Little Diner on line and couldn’t wait to try it ! We arrived around 12:30, which was perfect timing for breakfast or lunch . We sat at the high top bar stools and were able to watch all the food get cooked . The portions are huge and totally delicious! My husband had the patty melt with fries, I ordered the tomato, ham and cheese crepe, my son had pancakes, and my daughter ordered the crepe stiffed with cinnamon apples and vanilla ice cream ! It was all amazing and I agree with another review - best food in Vail!
Wonderful food and excellent service! We sat at the counter and could watch the cooks work their magic. The food was from scratch and very tasty. I had the Eggs Benedict--some of the best Ive ever had! Hollandaise sauce was from scratch and you could tell. Delicious. and my husband had the breakfast burrito with breakfast sausage and pork green chili. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!
Friendly staff and fast service once youre seated. The bar seats have a great view into the kitchen. Its fun to watch the cooks preparing all the various dishes. The huevos rancheros were good, but the Dutch Baby stole the show. Light and airy edges with a custardy, crepe-like center, with powdered sugar or you can order additional toppings.
Its your average diner but its very well priced compared to other nearby options. Were vegan so we were appreciative of the options and that we could modify items. But like most places in Vail, vegan options are extremely limited. Overall I would say the place was clean, friendly staff and easy to put our name down ahead of time. The coffee desperately needs improvement. It was very watered down. Good option if youre in the mood for a traditional diner breakfast/brunch any time of day!
Lovely service. Enjoyed it all around. Kids really enjoyed their French toast and pancakes.
I had the corned beef hash it was perfect exactly what I needed.I enjoyed sitting at the counter. Watching the cooks do their thing was oddly calming. We spent over $100 for two people for dinner the night before in vail and I have to say the breakfast we had at the diner was far superior and easier on the wallet. Highly recommend!
Stopped in for breakfast at 0930 on a Saturday, there was about half hour wait. We were seated at the bar, which was great because you can watch all the food being prepared. We ordered huevos rancheros and a dutch baby. The huevos rancheros is good, has a little spice to it and no beans. My only complaint with it is I wish the tortilla was not folded up, it was hard to cut through. The dutch baby was delicious and perfectly made. Thumbs up.
The food is delicious, its small . But they def make it work and keep it moving at a fast pace . Great spot
Crazy busy place but they have tables in the hallway outside if you want to place a takeout order and eat there. Be sure to get on the waitlist for those super busy weekends. Our food was excellent (Dutch baby pancake was super impressive and Denver omelette was packed with flavor). This is absolutely our top choice for breakfast in Vail. Can’t wait to return!
A must if you visit Vail. Great food and service. I think you should sit at the counter and watch the wonderful ballet that goes on in the small but very efficient kitchen! Highly recommend
Legendary. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Out table had the Breakfast burrito with bacon, Eggs Benedict, the Taxi Driver and Pancakes. All were top notch. Service was excellent! Will be back to try lunch!
Amazing Breakfast. If you get the chance to sit at the bar counter you can watch them cook. Definitely a must to hit this place up if youre in the area. Omelettes, hangover wrap and breakfast bagels are all good.
Amazing breakfast spot! Stacey was great, even recommending the best plates to us. She advised that I couldn’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Very clean establishment and the service is quick and efficient. The wait is worth it!
Four of us stopped in for a late breakfast on Monday morning. There was a short wait, as the place was packed, but we got seated at the counter in about 20 minutes. We quickly ordered a few things like the hangover burrito and the Three Little Pigs omelette. We watched the cooks make short work of all the ingredients in making the homemade corned beef hash, hash browns, and eggs by the dozens. Everything vanished from our plates and we left quickly to make room for those that waited behind us to eat one of the best breakfasts in Vail.
Went there in February, during ski season. It did NOT disappoint. The Dutch baby was delicious. All the food was super high quality. Great breakfast or avant ski meal.
Delicious breakfast and lunch/brunch foods. Pancakes are an excellent consistency, and large size. The corned beef hash is way better than the regular hash browns, and worth the upcharge as a side dish. Eggs Benedict is rad and the ability to have *pork roll* in Colorado is wonderful. Staff is very accommodating, and provides a great service. Worth the wait, and needs to be on your list when you visit Vail!
We stopped here after our atv ride and I am so happy we did. I had the eggs Benedict and the Dutch Baby they were so good! I highly recommend this place.
I recommend it. Best breakfast so far. I recommend you call ahead & get on their waiting list.
If you love cross contamination this is your place. Me and my family visited today to eat there and none of the cooks were wearing gloves. They were wiping their hands on their faces and clothing and touching the food w/o washing their hands again. The GM his self said that they do not wear gloves they just wash their hands and “good luck finding another place”. This is NOT okay and very DISGUSTING! DO NOT EAT HERE!
This was a Great Experience from the second we walked in! A waitress greeted us with the best smile ever and then she ended up being our waitress! Miriam was so fun, upbeat and efficient!! Will definitely return:) oh yeah, and the food was excellent( kids one egg breakfast, Short stack pancakes, The Ranchhand, Taxi Driver! Yum Yum
We sat at the counter and everything coming out looked so good we had a hard time choosing what we were going to eat. Everything was great, highly recommended.
Delicious and fun breakfast joint! Tons of fun crepes and traditional breakfast items. Be sure to book ahead as this place is VERY popular! We booked our table directly from Google Maps so ended up only waiting a few minutes when we arrived. Staff is surprisingly friendly considering how busy they are. The place has a fun diner feel that you will enjoy. See my photo of the Cheesy Apple & Bacon Crepe. Delicious!
Favorite place to eat in Vail. Why? Breakfast is the best meal of the day and this is the best basic breakfast in town. It’s pretty simple food but it’s consistently good. Fast friendly service and the expansion helps make the wait not be so long.I’ve eaten here with friends and family several times and none of us have ever had a bad meal. Always great food.
Stopped here on our road trip home from Colorado to Utah and were greeted with great staff who brought smiles to our kiddos’ faces and ours. We put our name on the wait list on their website when we were about 10 minutes outside of Vail and were seated right when we walked in. The food was so yummy, fresh and filling. The fruit cup is actually fresh fruit that is delicious and not overly or under ripe. We all got breakfast dishes and were not disappointed!
Incredibly long wait followed by really mediocre breakfast. Coffee was not good, but the salsa was good. Service was decent. For the “best breakfast in vail valley” we were severely disappointed.
Very accommodating. We got lost on the way and were pretty late and they sat us right away. The food is tasty too. Get the Benedict.
The staff were friendly, the food arrived almost as soon as we ordered and it tasted great. Will definitely be back.
From the moment I stepped inside this plexiglass partitioned paradise I knew from the red pleather seats to the faux-wood flooring that I was in for an adventure. The bacon was thicker than a Cajun accent, the sausage spicier than my wife on a bad date. The eggs were runny like a elementary school track race and the pancakes are what we imagine heaven will serve in the bars designed to remind us of mediocre places on earth.I’ll return someday I’m sure as I come to vail every 36 years or so… and this diner will likely sill be slow to pour our coffee. But alas breakfast is a thing we need or so I’m told.
Great food, service was pretty slow and we had to wait a long time and ask a couple times to receive the drinks we ordered. But we still enjoyed it.
The food was mediocre, at best, and that was after an hour wait. The coffee was not good. The service was ok. Hugely disappointed after reading the reviews of this place. Big miss and definitely not the best in Vail.
Great food and great service. the hostess works so hard just like everyone in the restaurant.
Food was delicious, above standard diner fare. Service was even better, with 80s playlist!
Best restaurant in Vail hands down. My hubby and I have lived in town for over 20 years and have been to almost every spot in town. The Little Diner wins.
First time diners there, everything was fantastic!! Service was excellent! Miriam was the BEST!! The management was great!! Well be back next time were in town from Phoenix. 😊
I love breakfast here. Anytime that I am in the area, I make sure to stop by.
Great food and service, but management needs to have a word with the hostess out front. Rude and has an attitude. We almost left. Won’t be going back. We were there for breakfast on Wed Aug 4th.
A nice little hidden gem. Excellent service. Food is made fresh and the taste is amazing. Everything we ordered was made to perfection.
The biscuit sandwich was fire!!! Also got a mocha latte that hit the spot perfectly.
Visited Multiple times - Most recently 3/2017The Little Diner is just that - little, so be prepared to wait and be flexible with the seating. The ***HOME MADE*** corn beef hash is delicious. If you are like me you want to try both the Eggs Benedict AND the corn beef hash - they will allow that change for a small fee. Pretty much everything I saw served looked decadent and delicious so I dont think you can go wrong on picking something. Spread the risk and order different things if you must but dont plan on sharing the corn beef hash - its that good.
I had breakfast here on 7/11. Wait staff was 50/50. Some were indifferent, some were kind. I sat at the counter. To be honest, there isn’t anything outstanding about the food. I didn’t see that the ingredients were specifically sourced, etc. Candidly, i think it is overhyped. What am I missing?
Such a joy to watch meal prepared Infront of ones eyes at the barstools. Staff was very thoughtful when waits were long and managing was a challenge. A classic breakfast travel diner experience!
Must try place if you visit Vail village. Best breakfast we ever had. Everything tasted fresh and amazing customer service.
Food was great! We were all very pleased with our meals.
Amazing food, and scratch made. Getting a counter seat allowed my wife and I to have a great view of the kitchen action, where they create amazing dishes. The corned beed hash was great, and the hash browns are not to be missed. My wife enjoyed the creamed beef on rye, with a side of cheesy grits. Would love to go back and try some more items next time were in town.
You couldnt find a better place in Vail for a great! Breakfast!
Our favorite place in Vail! Be sure to get yourself on the wait list ASAP or youll be waiting a long time. There arent many other breakfast places in Vail.
Still the best breakfast spot in Vail in my opinion.
Great food and great service. These people have procured wonderful ingredients and prepare them to perfection.
Such a great greasy spoon. Family had omelette, crepes, pancakes, and burger...all loved. staff is great.
Great breakfast and lunch at a reasonable price! Try the Hatch Burger when you go.
Great service, delicious food, and order came out fast.
Decent food but the wait is always over an hour. 45 mins to get seated and food takes another 20 mins once order so dedicated about 2 hrs if youre wanting breakfast.
Gustavo our server was amazing and friendly.
Says it’s open but was not. It’s not that hard to update your hours or put your temporarily closed.
The hash browns.............🤩I had an omelette and hubby had the eggs Benedict. Mimosa and bloody Mary werr great. Worth the wait.
The BEST breakfast in Vail, heck, it’s the best breakfast in the country! We require ourselves to eat here every time we are in Lionshead and it never disappoints. Hash browns, eggs Benedict, pancakes, all PERFECT! Service is always perfect and it is a fantastic way to start your day prior to hitting the slopes. 5+ stars for this hidden gem.
Really good breakfast and such a friendly staff. Try their green chili.
Breakfast was good but not as fabulous as other reviews lead you to believe. I had the eggs benedict and the Hollandaise sauce had too much Dijon mustard in it for me.
Our waitress Myriam absolutely made our day. We could tell it was busy but she still made sure to have fun with us. She had us laughing and it was by far our best experience in Vail.
Update: ate here a second time and I was not as impressed. Prices seem like they went up so its not as great of a deal. Its loud inside and the Hollandaise sauce tasted like mustard. Will try somewhere else next time Im in Vail. Service is great.Great food, fair prices. Will eat here again next time Im in Vail!
Food is excellent... this place gets busy so get on the waitlist and be sure you are there when they call your name!
Classic American and European breakfast, but done WELL! Great food from the basics on through the fun European style, and the service was quick and friendly as well. I don’t know how someone gave this place anything lower than a five star honestly. Basic coffee, but there’s four coffee places within a three minute walk if your craving espresso.
Great food, ambience, price and staff
Food is fantastic get there early packs up pretty quick
Good pancakes, but management needs to change that hostess (hispanic, short, hair with highlights) she is rude and arrogant.I almost left, I went for breakfast on August 12.
