I am being really picky here. For someone who does not grow up in the culture, it’s an awesome place to get a glimpse of authentic Chinese Bun, dumplings and noodles. But for someone who has Chinese flour food flowing in their vein, there definitely room for improvement. The fried Bao is machine made, and Pork belly with picked veggies is not fully cooked.
Very good vegetable dumplings. Its a cozy atmosphere, be prepared to squeeze in, but its fun place to eat. I recommend getting multiple different types of dumplings to share. Perfect for a rainy day, they have good soup as well. Also tried the cold eggplant.
The last time I went, the food was excellent. This time, half the menu (the good part) was crossed out, the excuse being they have a new chef, which made no sense to me.They should either sort out their situation, or close.
Very authentic and delicious! Not very expensive either.
One of the oldest stores in Northeast Harbor, but its kept up with the times - a wide range of groceries, generally high quality; great fish, good meats. Comfortable vibe.
The fried pork buns are so juicy that one literally exploded all over my clothes (was worth it)
The beef brisket noodle can be a bit inconsistent, but pretty standard good Chinese food. Convenient takeout too!
This place is the best authentic Chinese Ive had since I got back from Seattle. The pork buns literally explode they are so juicy. The pork belly bao bun was soft and impeccably seasoned. Will definitely come again to satisfy my hankering for amazing Chinese food.
SUPER RUDE. We asked for a table of 4 and waiter simply responded with “no” .
While the dumplings I’ve had are okay (xiaolongbao and pork buns), the rest of the menu is weak. Scallion pancake is greasy and flavorless, the sticky rice dish is misleading and bland (expected sticky rice you normally get, not sautéed rice cakes), and various noodle dishes and soups were small in portion and not very good. Disappointment.
Chicken wings taste great.
Delicious soup and dumplings. Best I’ve had in New Haven. Takeout only during pandemic. Highly recommended!!!!
Food was unfortunately subpar with very little flavor. Only gave us a half container of rice for 2 people and staff was very inattentive.
Steamed is absolutely excellent!! I love their chive box, it’s one of my fave dim sum classics. Its delicious!!! The chive egg and vermicelli is yummy! The sheng jian bao (pan fried pork dumplings) is excellent. Its a delicious Shanghainese classic dim sum that steamed does a great job. Definitely will visit again.
Excellent selection and quality of dumplings, soups and other small plates. Went to the New Haven location, because Madison wasnt open at lunch, and I liked the broader menu. Take out only at this time.
Very good, but seemed rather expensive
The food was alright, not overly great but not bad too. Prices seemed ok, possibly a bit on the high end. Recent menu changes seems that the food isnt as delicious as it used to be. The interior is quite nice, but I did find a small insect in my water I believe. Its only a mediocre place that is a bit questionable.
This place has excellent authentic Chinese food: Awesome soup dumplings 小笼汤包. Delicious beltfish 带鱼. Crispy fragrant leek dumplings 韭菜盒子. Well go again soon to try the other items on the menu. If youre in New Haven and you like Chinese food you should definitely eat at Steamed 蒸.
Fantastic dishes. Wasnt crazy about the beef appetizer with the seasoning rub, but dumplings were amazing as were the pork buns.
Best dumplings Ive had since I lived in Asia. I absolutely adored it and will definitely be coming back! Often!
This is the best new place weve discovered in our East Rock neighborhood, if not all downtown. The freshness, flavor, and service are all incredible. Good vegan/veg options. My partner said the xiaolong bao were the best hes had anywhere. The prices are great, too.
A great place to gather with friends over warm (and spicy!!) food
Phenomenal. Quick service, excellent food. Shrimp dumplings and sticky rice were absolutely perfect.
The absolute best chinese food in New Haven. Not a ton of options, but every dish is perfected. Would recommend!
The shareable plates here make this a great dinner spot with your SO, friends, or family. The price is very reasonable for what you get.
This is supposedly the same owner as the one in Madison. It was so different. This location is as sub par and had barely any dumpling options. The shrimp dumplings were overdone and gooey. The beef soup we got had huge tough & chewy pieces of piece in it. The scallion pancakes tasted old & dry. The eggplant dish was cold & so spices were overpowering - would maybe taste better warmer? The cucumber salad was good but the rest was very disappointing and it’s freezing downstairs where we ate.
Good place. Evrything made fresh
I think it was v average, we ordered the xiaolongbao which was okay. Nothing to rave about. We also got the beef noodles which were highly recommended but it wasnt very flavorful. Unlike another review, we had enough soup for the noodle amount but it is was very meh.
If youre not actively looking for this place, you will likely drive right by it. But dont do that! Weve been here 3 times now and been up and down the menu and nothing but happiness ensued. Service is sometimes a tad sketchy and the plates come out oddly timed, but not a deal breaker for me. If youre looking for an authentic dumping and soup slam dunk, make this happen!
Nice place to eat authentic Chinese food
Noodles and buns here are great!
Lots of good options in noodle dishes and soups.
Never eaten anything there that I didnt like.
Good food and attentive staff
Personally I think it is a bit pricy.
Great noodle soup
Good dumplings.
Delicious, my hometown flavor
Service was great its a shame that the food wasnt very good ☹️
Excellent food
Amazing food
Average food
The chicken rice noodles are sour and spicy. Three fresh rice noodles cant.
