Grabbed a few small items while in the area and having never visited. They have a good selection, service, and knowledgeable employees that seem to be real people that arent puppets strung to a big box corporate kind of environment structure, but still professional. Spent a while just looking around at all the gear but Im sure I missed some still, its a big store. Had some interesting items I wouldnt expect. Seemed like a decent amount of used gear too so Ill make sure to stop in if Im in the area.

Great customer service as usual, I brought in a bass that I no longer use to put towards a microphone that I needed for the weekend. They gave me the best price possible for the bass and helped me find a microphone that I was more than pleased with. I really want to thank them for the help because I don’t know anything about what to look for in a good microphone. Wanting to purchase a drum set for my husband for quite awhile, I hadnt been willing to take my chances just walking into a national chain music store knowing nothing about drums. It was a couple of outstanding reviews that mentioned Sam Ash is a family-run business that gave me the confidence to go with them. Eric, a 20+ year employee was phenomenal, helping me filter-down options. With his help, I bought the drum set, he held it for me for a few days until I could pick it up and smuggle it into the house and into our sons bedroom to hide it until Christmas Eve. Oh you would have thought my husband had won the lottery! He was SO excited- just beyond words!

I needed an F9 high hat drum pedal, which is extremely hard to come by. I talked to Eric W. A couple of times on the phone. He put my name and number aside and we waited. I honestly thought he just forgot about me, but low and behold he did not!!! He actually looked a couple of times a week to see if one came in! Called me right away snd 2 days later I had my pedal. Sam Ash has an amazing selection of guitars which is great for people who play the guitar, but can be overwhelming to someone who doesn’t, like me. My fiancé and I went to Sam Ash looking for a keyboard for my daughter. She was with us at the time, so when he saw the one we wanted, I took her out to the car and he proceeded to purchase it. My fiancé asked the teller if there was any way to conceal the package. The teller was amazing and entirely wrapped the keyboard for us!I would also like to highly suggest using Sam Ash’s professional instrument repair guys, they have done amazing work on my flutes that other music stores have refused to look at, just trying to make a sale of a new flute.

Amazing customer service!!! I cannot stress this enough. I went to the New Haven location wanting 2 items, a vocal pedal and a bass guitar. I got exactly what I wanted plus some new effects pedals and cables I tried out. I had such a great experience picking out the bass and trading an old one in, I also spent a great deal of time trying out some different guitar pedals, the employees there could not be more helpful, and the store was definitely full of customers but they made me feel like my experience there was just as important as the next person. I have never had a bad experience at this store and I will and always do recommend it to all of my musician friends or anyone else for their musical needs!

Excellent music store. They sell all types of instruments from guitars, drums, brass instruments like saxaphones, trumpets, and my main instrument, baritone, and stringed instruments like violins. The store is BIG so you will have a wide range of things to purchase. They also sell additional items to add onto the instruments like mouth pieces and the cases to mouth pieces. The staff was helpful, and friendly, and helped me and my dad get a drum pad, sticks, and a mouth piece case. If you are a musician who is in need of something for your instrument, or a starting musician who needs an instrument, Sam Ash is a great place to go to.

I purchased my son’s first guitar - a Taylor two years ago here. I took it in to get tuned up and new strings after covid isolation playing. The technician took me right away, advised me on strings and restrung and then tuned it, and played it before and after so I could hear the difference and appreciate how beautiful it could sound when played by a professional. I absolutely appreciate the outstanding customer service and the quality of support given in this store. At this store by this staff, a person just getting simple guitar maintenance is treated as well as getting a new sale. That is customer support!

I purchased an Analog Alien Bass Station pedal. Lucas Gargano was my sales rep and he went out of his way to show me all my available options for a bass guitar pre amp. Lucas set me up with a bass, amp, and a couple different bass preamps and then gave me some space so I could experiment and think about my purchase options. Lucas helped me with additional information when needed and did not push me toward any specific brand or price point. Overall I highly recommend Sam Ash in New Haven CT. and will gladly steer other musicians toward your doors, they will not be disappointed with the customer service. I came into the store looking for a pair of monitor speakers. I had no prior knowledge on what specs I needed.. the sales rep was very helpful. He spent time explaining to me the benefits of the speakers and what I should pay attention to for what my use with them would be. They didn’t not upsell me and I left the store feeling like I made an investment and not just took a huge loss. I will be only going to them in the future for my music needs.

I was considering buying a guitar, bass and an interface. I was completely ignored by all employees while I was one of three customers in the store(a pair of young men who were clearly there to buy were also ignored). Not even a greeting or goodbye. Find a mom and pop, or even a pawn shop. Dont support these miserable people. They have a terrible selection, high prices, they profile and are miserable people to be near. I could have bought but wanted nothing to do with them after finally procuring the attention of someone for a fleeting moment. I wont be back.

I had my Gibson guitar repaired at Sam Ash in New Haven. Tom Voytek did a first-rate job of, first, diagnosing the issues and explaining them clearly to me and, then, making the repairs in a timely fashion. I will continue to shop and seek service at Sam Ash.

Mike: is great, he tested my tenor sax, changed out only the pads that needed to be change, the turn-around time was fast, and the cost was spot on with the estimate.

I went to Sam Ash music New Haven, CT, looking to hopefully purchase a banjo or gain some valuable information I might need to move forward. An employee named ”John” (Guitar department) was helping me through this experience. However, when I declined to purchase a banjo there due to several reasons, mostly their poor selection, he instantly became very rude and snappy and hastly ripped the instrument from my hand. This is definitely do to the fact these employees make their money via-commision. Guess John was just acting nice to customers and is not truly a sincere helpful guy...

Ive had my guitars for so long I was afraid to bring it to someone I didnt know. Unfortunately I dont have any contacts left in the area. Not only did they do the repair, they fixed some of the adjuster screws on the bridge. The guitar plays like a dream and the service was excellent. Id bring in a guitar for repair!

Love this store!!! Every person in each department has an expert level knowledge of the equipment they are selling. If they do not know the answer to a question, they jump online to look into it further. If that doesnt work, then they will contact the company representative to get you the information you need. Also, they are willing to work with you on price. I highly recommend going to them first over the online companies or Guitar Center. Sam Ash music stores have national reach and big stores with huge inventory of musical instruments.But every person treats you like their only customer. Ive had the pleasure of buying multiple instruments from both my local store and from Sam Ash is online used gear website.Sam Ash used gear website has great photographs and good descriptions of used instruments.The website loads very slowly most likely because of the high quality images. Its often worth the wait.Hopefully theyre webmaster will fix ridiculously slow load times.. it may take up to 30 seconds to load on a cell phone even with a high-speed connection.. GreerBut the people and the equipment are excellent.

I went in there looking for some speakers for our computer to replace ones purchased for Christmas at a local mall. They asked me what I was looking for and hooked me up with a knowledgeable customer service person to help me in this endeavor. They even opened the box and hooked them up so we could hear them first. Not only that, they were infinitely better quality than the mall speakers AND cost less too!

Employees are fast to ask me if I needed help. They made suggestions(along with why they suggested it) and answered all of my questions without asking someone else for help which means that really know what they are talking about. I bought a drum set for the brother here and they helped him pick out the perfect set for what he needed it for. They also helped him find a few sticks that matched what he liked. They checked what they had in stock and we were out in less than an hour.

Absolutely LOVE this place. I travel 30 minutes about twice a week just to get whatever i need for my instruments like books, reeds, valve oils, new mouthpieces, anything.... The service is great and the repair guy is really nice too. Repairs are very affordable compared to many other places. I honestly want to work here once i start college closer to the store so i can be there more.
