Paul was great, I usually don’t leave reviews but in this case I would have not used Uhaul and their services unless paul was working. This guy went over the top to help me out and get reservation figured out and make sure the trailer was good to go. Would def recommend as long as I knew Paul would be helping them out!

Horrible service…vehicles are never filed up…the workers at this location are lazy and service is extremely slow…waited over a half hour in line while the workers worked slow…unprofessional…and joked around and didn’t pay mind to their long line…go to the Hamden dixwell ave location it’s much better!!!

I rented a pickup truck for agreed $39 dollars. I get charged $79 a day. Then it got updated to $158 dollars a day. What bs for a two day rental I get charged 316 plus 80 dollars in sale fee for stuff I didn’t buy and also 90 dollars in gas when I brought the vehicle back with the same amount of gas.First time renting a U-Haul and I get treated like that.

They were excellent, i got the proper information i was looking for, i would definitely rent from them again, i will never go back to orange that African American girl that’s the manager has a nasty attitude ‼️‼️

I made a reservation, and paid for a hitch installation nine days before, to occur this morning, and, minutes before my appointment, as I was walking out the door to head over, I received a phone call telling me that the door to the garage is broken, and that the install cannot happen today. I arrived at the store to speak face to face with the assistant manager further informed of a more critical a problem - the part IS NOT EVEN IN STOCK!This is the reason I made this reservation over a week ago, to prevent this from happening.  I am so beyond livid at the sheer indifference displayed by the gentlemen at the counter and their lackluster attempt to solve the problem, yawning and shrugging it off as business as usual, and almost break neck speed in which the offer to cancel my order was made, as if that were an acceptable solution to the problem.  When I asked why I wasnt notified earlier that the part wasnt in stock, the person mentioned that he was off on Monday and Tuesday and that nobody but him would have made that call.  I was astonished.I am extremely disappointed at the level of customer service Im receiving, still standing here more than a half hour later, with no resolution in sight.

There was a big flood that resulted in 2 inches of standing water on the first floor. Huge amount of my belongings were damaged, at least $500. Caused mold to develop in my storage unit. They did absolutely nothing about it.

We’ve rented from this location twice and both time everything went smoothly. They had our truck, our padding and the whole process was transparent.

I wasnt happy that despite renting the truck and equipment two days prior to pick up they didnt have everything needed to complete my reservation and I had to drive to another location to get the rest of the equipment I needed. I dont understand why someone doesnt check orders to avoid customer inconveniences like this. But the associates were nice, offered to handle sweeping out the truck for us and refunded the overcharge for too many furniture pads promptly.

Do not rent from this place . Slow, incompetent and discourteous service. I went there to rent a trailer so I can pick up a fridge, and the service inside was so slow, the people were not very polite, it was like I was doing them a favor.They are not competent in trailer hitch hook up for lights and adapters except they just point me to a wall where they sell them at extraordinary prices.I explicitly said that I need a trailer with a ramp, and they ended up giving me one that doesn’t have one. The shackles did not fit, as they were too small. Instead I had to improvise with carabiners.

The worst place you can go to. I was greeted by the employees riding dirt bikes out front and a mob of guys chilling... I drove almost to hours with a reservation paid for a hitch to be put in not only no one was there to do the job also to add he only works on his own time, I couldnt get my hitch put in the also didnt know how to do a refund...

My Daughter Laurel Wellman made a reservation for the largest 2 axel trailerShe made the reservation 6 weeks ago.The State St. New Haven CT said “they didn’t have her trailer”.It was a 4 or 5 day reservation to move her from New Haven to State College PA.We were forced to drive 15 miles from New Haven to rent a smaller trailer “5x8” I think.Some very “Not Caring” customer service !!!I sure hope we stuff her into the smaller trailer hence my one star review.

Mobile pickup was convenient bc I dont like dealing with people, but it was very time consuming once I got there. They also park the vehicles so close together that u definitely need another person to help guide u out of the lot. Wish mileage was cheaper too

Good place to get everything for moving

I rented a ubox, storage unit, and a moving van from this location. The people at the location were very helpful and efficient. The ubox was really easy to setup and very clean. The storage unit was also really clean and everything looked great after I emptied everything out. Renting the moving van was very straight forward and fast. Everything was great!

The service was good. I was in and out. But, absolutely no one was wearing a mask! Behind the desk! I felt unsafe! Not cool in a pandemic! Ive been there a couple times to pick up vehicles, and not one time was anyone wearing a mask! I think Im going to take my business elsewhere. In times like these, we need to be on the same page! Staff there were playing on their phones. Not really paying too much attention to customers. Id be okay with just that, but the whole no mask wearing was very alarming! Not cool. Really sad and unfortunate. Im definitely not going to go back there again especially during this pandemic. Management needs to do something about it. There was an older man there, gray hair. Not sure if he was a manager or the owner. He also had no mask on. Very sad and unfortunate. I have some serious underlying health issues. Definitely cant afford to catch the coronavirus because I want to rent a vehicle. No thank you. U-Haul needs to step up their game. People are dying.

The trailer I needed, on a very busy Saturday, was right there. So was the ease of checkout and quick, courteous service. Tyrese and Justin were professional and pleasant. Bad service? Mask issues? Youre either at the wrong place or looking for trouble!

Quick, easy service. One star off because we elected for digital check in and completed all steps in app but was then asked to go on to the store and complete all the steps again.

Well I ran into a issue with the truck, drove it home load it and received a bad new in a closing on a house. Needed to wait another week. The truck been parked in front of the house I rent for the entire week. Came down and I explained everything and that I will be needing a bigger truck. They were great help. Reimburse the mileage I did used a able to transfer everything from the small truck to a bigger one. Wow! They treated me like a family member. Thanks you so much! Uhaul trailer wheel popped within 10 miles after I getting it. It took me 40min to get this piece of junk in the store and 3 more hours waiting on the highway for someone to come fix it. Its a store with poor managing, terrible waiting time, and equipment in unsafe condition.

This is the best U-Haul place that you will ever go to. They have up-to-date technology and everything is brand new and very clean inside. The people are awesome and very helpful. As a business owner I often have to rent trucks. They treat me as if they know me personally when I walk in there. I never have to wait very long. They always go above and beyond to help me. I definitely recommend renting your U-Haul truck from them and nowhere else! Even if you have to rent a U-Haul truck from anywhere else in Connecticut I would advise you to call 1175 STATE STREET to facilitate it because they actually know what they’re doing over there! YOU GUYS ROCK!

Kept rescheduling me for a hitch because either the hitch installer wasn’t there or they let someone jump ahead of me.

Dropped off my truck, yesterday, was following the instructions over my phone, was told to put 🔑 in key drop off, was looking for the slot, some employee gave me the worst attitude, because I didnt know the place was still open to drop off my key.... on the plus side the truck I drove had no governor, I got her up to 90 miles per hour....

Clean store. Which was the best part about waiting 30 minutes in line. Service was very poor. On the other hand, the guy from Tony’s who I’m getting my truck from offered to come pick me up. Now that’s service.

The trailer was not ready despite calling ahead. They messed up the paperwork. The sole employee that could help us was still home asleep.

My best ever uhaul experience. The staff here (Chris Jimenez in particular) were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. My trailer hook up was a bit rusted. Chris got it into shape quickly and expertly. No upsell. Just perfect customer service. Very friendly and professional.

Great service! Gas tank wasn’t what I was told it was and when I returned it, they refunded me some of the cost! Easy and accessible location!

They generally get the job done, but they are terrible about communicating things. I repeatedly contacted the provided number and talked to someone at the call center who assured me that they were leaving notes for the location and I would get a call back. They never get back. I had a storage unit that I emptied out and they are still charging me after I moved and called them to close the account. Now I will likely have to send a friend to go there in person because I am no longer in the state.

I asked if my car would be safe if left overnight in their lot. They assured me it would be. Next day when I returned to drop off the rental and pick up my car, my car had been run into and damaged. They did not offer to pay for any repairs, and they claimed nothing showed up on their video. Or maybe they ran into it with one of their trucks and just didnt want to admit it?

This place was very convenient my move, didnt have to drive to far and had everything I needed for a last minute move. Courteous staff.

I have used this location twice the past two times Ive moved. The first time I did an online reservation and reserved a truck for two days. I ended up only getting it for eight hours and moved in the dead of night. I chalked that up to my fault and said I would come into the store the next time. This year I specifically went into this same Uhaul location and made my reservation in person for two days. I made sure to be explicit about my needs and called to confirm the reservation a few weeks later. I show up Friday to pick up my Uhual and THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED. I was told that I could only have the truck for eight hours because they were overbooked. I talked to the same guy that made my reservation and he said there was nothing he could do, but admitted that he remembered my order and didnt know why I didnt have the truck for two days. Honestly, this company is the worst.

Absolute nightmare. Besides being understaffed in their busy morning hours... calling ahead for your items is a joke. It took me nearly two hours to get out of the store when I initially picked up the U-boxes...and now I called ahead a day prior and made a 7am reservation to pick up the u boxes from their warehouse and it’s been 50 minutes now and they’re just now starting to load them on trailer. I have no idea what the point of calling ahead is when they do absolutely nothing to ready your “order”. Waste of time.

I give them a 3 start just because my appointment was at 7am to install a hicth. Online it said up to 2 hours i got my car back at 1pm. Now the job was done right, i believe they where short staffed at 7am.

Misleading, charged me extra for using the hand truck that came with the truck. Never told me when I first rented the truck that there would be an extra charge. I called the owner and she never called me back. Go somewhere else.

Overcharged for my boxes, provided incorrect info about differences between boxes/products, had boxes listed for one price then tried to charge another, despite having 5 people standing around, dis not offer me assistance carrying out boxes as was offered to other customers. Do yourself a favor and go to the Whalley location!!!!
