One of the very few actual authorized Canon dealers in the state. The store has a good selection that comes with a great price! The service is by far some of the best customer service Ive had at any camera store. If they dont have the equipment in stock they have a fast turn-around to get that piece of equipment shipped in store as soon as possible. If you cant afford the camera or equipment you also have the option to put it on layaway. They have 35mm film also up for grabs if youre a photography student or if you just love shooting on film.

Came in real quick because I randomly had a dust spec show up on my sensor...the gentleman quickly & efficiently got rid of the spec. Didn’t charge me. I’ll be back to upgrade my photography arsenal soon, because their prices for Canons and Sony’s were really decent too.

I write this review on customer service. I called today and spoke with Uzzi. I am from out of town and was looking for a specific camera. Uzzi took his time, communicated through text and found what I needed with a great price. Unfortunately the camera was on back order and I need it for Tuesday. I recently brought a camera lens here and for those of you that dont know this place of business has been in existence for a very long time. Roughly about 30 years plus. I recalled purchasing an electronic game device Atari video game system. When I got home and opened the box found it to be a 220 volt system. The game device was returned to the store and with no questions the device was exchanged. Good to see that they are still in around.

I had my small mirrorless Sony camera with me and inquired about the latest models. The proprietor told me that the newer models were not enough of an upgrade, and to keep the one I had. Its not often a salesman refuses to chase a potential sale. This speaks to his honesty. He was very personable and after a somewhat lengthy discussion - he knows his products! - we bought the lens cap and he threw in a free tether for it! His prices are very reasonable. He explained that if he had an online presence he would have less pricing freedom. In fact, do your research and then give him a call. He most likely will beat any price, and ships, too! This is how Im going to purchase my next Sony or Canon camera!

Went in for a battery charger for my son and ended up spending $400 more on a Sony camera. A much better price than Best Buy and good service too. They also gave me a bag, UV filter, and SD card. As a local, it is nice to have a place to go for assistance, if needed!

I live about three hours form New Orleans and like to travel here often on the weekends. Unfortunately my camera took a huge fall and completely was destroyed and I was shooting a photo shoot the next day.They helped me pick out my Sony camera with no problems at all because they know there stuff.These guys are really honest, there is no need to haggle with them. I went in looking for an SD card and Canon battery pack and got a great deal on the higher quality line. Mike showed me how much faster the Class 10 SD cards were and the Vivitar battery he sold me holds a charge longer than the one the Canon T3i came with. None of the workers pressured me into buying anything, but I did ask around about the lenses and the sound equipment for possible future purchases. They gave me their card and I gotta say, Im glad I walked in there. The atmosphere was calm.

CHECK ONLINE PRICES FIRST!!!! They have a lot of tricky business practices, be very careful to check prices online before buy anything there (better dont buy anything there), they will try prevent that you compare online with distraction techniques, please use your cell phone!; they even have fake web pages of other distributors to show you with higher prices to make you confident; They will try to flatter you or try to show something so you get distracted when they perceive you are going to check online; be very careful of the second floor of rescued art pieces from Katrina, this place normally charge 100% over the online price, and are not willing to comply with refunds.

I was very pleased with my experience. I bought a Canon 5DS back in April of 2016 while in town for business. I wasnt able to fit the camera in my luggage so they shipped it to me. The pricing was unbeatable and the sales representative was very knowledgeable. I will definitely be back for future purchases.

Wanted some headphones. Sales person was pushing a pair of Sony headphones. When I got them back to hotel I found they were broken. He was aware I was leaving first thing the following day and could not return them. As far as I am concerned they are a bunch of sharks and should be avoided at all costs.

Bought a Cannon EOS when i was down in New Orleans from these guys and I gotta say they are GREAT! My husband and I were in town on vacation and had forgotten to bring our interface cable to download pictures from our digital camera to our notebook computer. New York Camera advised a better, cheaper solution using a memory card pocket read/writer. The unit we purchased reads over 50 kinds of memory cards and provides a USB interface, which as New York Camera indicated, would be faster and more dependable than the interface cable. Their suggestion proved to be the best solution for our problem! We recommend New York Camera for good advice, honesty and good price!

All used equipment, nothing current or new. Images on page are deceiving. They have a no return policy posted on a small sign, so pray your items work. They misled me on the price and quality of an wide angle lens that didnt even fit my mount type and then haggled when I wanted to return it. I walked out with different junk that I didnt need or want. Then number of fake reviews (all having 1 review should have been a warning if I played attention before)

I walked in looking for an item and walked out with a HD Vision 1.2 IS wide angle lens w/macro. Mark quickly took various pictures showing me the photos on my camera viewfinder talking all the time in a very knowledgeable way. Looked good so I bought it, on sale for $250 down from its previous price of $500. Went back to the hotel and downloaded the pictures Mark had taken. They looked TERRIBLE on my large computer screen! No refunds policy....I dont think so. I hope you have a credit card company like mine-canceled the sale immediately. Found the same lens for $39.99 on Amazon!!!!!!!

I walked in today with my Nikon, the owner sized me up and immediately directed me to the Nikon section. He made a quick assessment of my gear, and offered many options of things that I would benefit from. He was pretty much the most perfect salesman ever, not gonna lie. He actually made it difficult for me to say no to his items, because I actually believed I needed them after we spoke for a moment! (I do need them!) But we were on a tight budget and I couldn’t make a purchase today, but I will definitely buy something from this store and this gentleman in the future. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and he will let you walk away without feeling like you personally insulted him. I’ll buy something from you Sir, just not today.

Out of all the Camera shops ive been in I must say that the salesmen in this store knew more than any about cameras. The were extremely nice and didnt pressure me to buy anything. I did purchase a Canon 5D Mark III and a few lenses that I have been wanting for a while. I was very surprised that the prices were actually cheaper than Amazon or any of the Major chain stores. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for a great deal or even advice on Camera. Mark did everything he could to not make me feel like an idiot, even though Im not much of technocrat and barely remember what kind of camera I own most of the time.2. He spent time with me, talked me into waiting to buy a lens Id been considering, sold me something less expensive that has already enhanced my experience, and managed to get a clear filter detached from my lens that a less-experienced person in my last store screwed on incorrectly. Im a customer for life.3. Only authorized Canon dealer in the area. Period.

The salesman, Vincente, told us he was selling a HD3 .48X wide angle lens with macro that was worth over $500, but when we checked on it online and another camera store in NJ it was really only worth less than $100 and he sold it to us for $200. He definitely ripped us off.

I entered New York Camera Inc. knowing full well that if I was not satisfied with what I found in the store, there was another camera shop across the street. I went in to find a wide-angle lens for my Canon Rebel t3i. The store owner helped me personally and gave me three different options. Two were mounted lens options and one was a 10-18mm stand alone lens. He also offered me an array of cheaper options as he is used to tourists coming in and requesting cheap lenses which they can use while they are in New Orleans. I heard the prices on each lens and headed across the street to Camera Stop where I made the same requests. The people working in Camera Stop were nice but knew very little about cameras and didnt have more than one option to offer. The price of the one option they offered was much higher than the same mounted lens cost at New York Camera Inc. No competition. When I accessorize my camera, I want to support a local business where the workers in the shop know their stuff.

Just bought a Sony alpha 6000 for the best price out there (they even beat Amazon) . The shop is very professional and the sells rep are patient I spent about 45m with them. I would definitely recommend at least walking in there if you are in the market for cameras.

Pricing is a tad arbitrary here...came in looking for a strap, didnt exactly have what i was looking for, had a product that was similar to what i needed. The salesman picked up on the fact that i was unsure about making the purchase, and started to wittle down the price, until it was almost half the original price. After a week of searching other local camera stores, their product was the closest i could get for my application. Came back to the store, salesman wouldnt budge on the price as he did the week before, citing he did not remember my prior visit....sure, thats a possibility. After the purchase was made, the salesman then tries to upsell me on other equipment that would fit with my current rig, which he did somehow remember from me explaining during my first visit, but conveniently did not remember the price he quoted me from the same visit. And for a store that claims to be tax free (as advertised on their storefront) i was charged tax.

Went into NewYork Camera and meet with the a very knowledgeable camera salesman. I initially just wanted a starter camera for making videos, but after being shown what I could do with a 3D High Definition Lense, I left out wanting more!! The price was definitely a blessing!
