Wow, what a place! This is an old school hat shop. They had a plethora of hats. All the hats you might possible want. The salesmen are not pushy, they dont rush you, and they didnt seem to mind pulling out a jumble of hats for me to try on, even though they didnt know if I was buying or just browsing. They will also help you find the perfect fit and style if you ask. If you need French, they speak that too! Cannot recommend enough. This is the godliest hat store I have ever seen. I’ve bought many hats, I’d go to say I own about 20 and have been collecting since late 2020. This is the ONLY place that I could find the exact boater hat I wanted, with every other place being much today expensive (Sure, it was 120, but a day before I got a hat for 160, so this is great for such a rare hat which people overprice online). I come from Arizona so I don’t have too many options for hats, but out of every hat store I’ve ever seen, both online and in real life, THIS IS THE BEST!

I had a great personalized experience here. Paul was very patient with me as I tried on several hats I purchased three hats and had one of them shipped back home because I didnt want to hassle trying to get it on the plane. I got my hat today and it was very well packaged. I am so happy with my experience here and will be definitely be coming back the next time Im in New Orleans.

Meyer T. Hatter was there wearing his patented 15 foot tall stove top hat. The hat contained no less than 7 rare and exotic birds. When Mr. Hatter spoke the birds launched into a song. The intoxicating tweeting entered my being, hours passed, days, weeks, years. I was Infinity. I became the abyss. How could I not purchase a hat. Its the very least I could do for Meyer T. Hatter shaman exterior.

It is a good hat shop. They dont have their own brand of hat, they are a retailer of others brands. Lots of hats, but the store isnt that big as it is touted the largest hat shop in the south.

But the very friendly staff soon had us trying different colors, styles, and sizes until we were happy with what we chose. Have purchased here before and we knew what we wanted, but employee offered unasked for advice then ignored us in a huff when we didnt agree with his choices. My friend walked out, but I persisted with a different employee, and finally able to buy hat I wanted. Not the best experience but all good in the end.

Firstly, its a beautiful thing to visit a Father & Sons - run shop estab. 1894! Service is warm and knowledgeable. The selection is amazing - every man could look better instantly in one of their hats. (Try it). Wife and I are visiting NOLA and dropped in to look at hats. Werent really planning on buying anything, each walked out with a gorgeous hat. Incredible, personable customer service. We both felt like wed travelled back in time to the 40s or 50s. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip and thats saying something.

Myself and a Mate from Boston we’re staying at the Roosevelt Hotel and made a trip over. We both purchased hats and had a fantastic conversation with I believe “Sam” a WW-2 veteran. Me and my good friend, also veterans all shared our stories. A wonderful store, steeped in history (check out classic celebrity photo on the walls) and offering a fabulous selection of hats of any sort, and lastly a wonderful staff who made our experience special.Until his recent passing me and my friend of many years often discussed our stop at Meyer the Hat Man.Perhaps one day I will return.

Visited NOLA for Mardi Gard and stumbled across Meyer the Hatter. The staff could not have been nicer. I found a fedora but the band was light brown and I wanted black. No problem they said! Made the hat to order. Can’t wait to get back and see what I can buy this hear. Highly recommend!

Ive been buying my hats from them for more than 20 years, even after moving away from New Orleans. Every time I come back to visit I always make a point of stopping in and picking up a new hat from there. The service is impeccable and the selection is always fantastic. Most recently, I received a gift card for the store for my birthday and since I didnt have plans for an upcoming visit I decided to use the card online. I ended up having to do the transaction over the phone and they made it incredibly easy and enjoyable (and it was the day after Mardi Gras to boot and believe me I know what being at work on that day is like). I highly recommend Meyer the Hatter. They are the best!

While on a business trip in the area I stopped by, I was greeted, then treated like a friend. First I was looking with the owner, then his son assisted me when I was having a difficult time making a choice. I could not take the hat with me so they shipped it to me. Visited while on a trip to NOLA a few years ago. Found a great soft Panama and an incredible beaver fur Top with a fur finish. My wife found one also. Ive been wearing hats since childhood, AKA a long time ago.. I grew up watching old movies, film noir + men like Edward G Robinson + Cagney made their impact. My Dad always wore a weekend fedora and we would shop for hats together. But I have never been to a better hat shoppe than Meyer. Was just introduced to The Hatter last year and its become our first stop whenever we are here (a few times a year). Most comprehensive selection EVER, best + friendliest staff too. Some colleagues and I were in NOLA for work, and had a garden party event we wanted to hat-up for. I have a reasonable hat collection as it is, but nothing appropriate for garden attire. The staff here was extremely helpful, and found me a hat that fit event and would travel well back to Michigan with me and not be out of place.I think it fun that both of my favorite hat shops have the Hatter in the name now.

Many years ago we returned to NOLA following a blizzard and -80 degree weather in Chicago. While stranded for three days I refused to buy a winter coat but after reading an article on how much heat escapes through one’s head, purchased a hat. It really worked and my wife liked it so I marched into Meyer’s where Sam and Bill provided what might be called Hats 1.0 Later with the approach of summer I was provided Hats 2.0 learning that snap brims are complementary to far fewer faces than stiff or slightly upturned brims and, of course, the benefit of keeping the sun off one’s head. Many years and many hats later Thanksgiving seems like a perfect season to say ‘thank you’ for your guidance, your inventory but, best of all, your friendship. It is grand that yet another generation carrries on the tradition.

We didnt actually want to buy a hat, but the outside of this store made it so tempting! We went inside and tried on various hats. Who knew, but it was a famous hat shop and a real piece of history in New Orleans. They had a wide variety and selection and the staff was very kind and knowledgeable.
