The only place I ever shop for vinyl records, rare and limited edition. Momma peaches is so welcoming, knowledgeable and historically present; she remembers me from when I used to come to the gentilly store! Love the selection, the history, and the welcoming feeling
You need not like vinyl to appreciate this store, but it sure does help!If you enjoy the thrill of digging deep into crates, or simply want to find the latest pressing of your favourite artist, then this is a must visit.Times are strange now, but the right safety protocols (gloves, physical distancing) are in place.I’m happy to see Peaches be the store where my son bought his first vinyl records. The crew are friendly, and outgoing - a perfect combination.Visit. Enjoy.
Such a wonderful experience to speak with this inspiring woman! A time warp to be able to sit at a Woolworth counter for a few minutes. She said, Try it, youll be glad ya did and I was. Glad I got to meet and speak with her!
A lot of the other record stores I visited specialized in local and/or historic Jazz, and Blues, but there wasnt a lot of Hip-Hop. Peaches had New Orleans Hip-Hop. Unfortunately for me as a tourist everything was either sold out, or out of stock, but I really did appreciate this store.
Great store with deep roots in music, they also have many hard to find albums.
Grossly overpriced and a tourist trap. Do not fall for the crazily high ratings. Minimum the markups were double than what they should’ve been. Keep searching for better stores around town, which there are plenty.
Giant record store with many eclectic titles and lots of fun gift items, trinkets, and merchandise
My wife and I walked in, and the lady working said it’s appreciated if we wore masks. However, she herself did not have a mask on. We stayed for about 30 seconds but we were so put off by that, so we just walked out. I’ve been there prior that visit, but have no interest in going back.
This is a record shop in New Orleans if youre a big fan of the Allman Brothers this is a mess stop and that the Allman Brothers album eat a peach this was a peach
The record prices here are insane. A record you could get for 25 on target is 50 bucks. 50! Like, make a profit but dang! Even the crates its hard to find anything under 10, and often Id pick out a used record only to find THAT was 40. used cassettes marked at 17. So just bananas. The space was so cool! The types of records was very interesting! But like many people say the prices are beyond inflated.
I went on the day it was closed (because their store times hadn’t been updated) but the manager let me in because I was from out of townTo start off… they have a great selection but they are literally overcharging on everythingA black pressing of Future Nostalgia shouldn’t have a price tag of $100 because of it’s rarity in a record storeEven Solar Power (indie exclusive) was being sold for $70And there were sticky notes galore saying if items were “rare” or notOn top of that, the manager was a little bit rude towards me
It felt really good to step into a historical place such as peaches. The music selection was bomb and the art was amazing. Grab yourself a good vinyl, a tshirt and a tote for memories sake if nothing else.
Tourists Trap!Don’t waist your time… extremely overpriced, $60-$90 for LPs you can buy anywhere else for $10-$20.Very pushy and pressuring manager … suggested I buy some items from their local music section because all of the “Asians” come in and buy them all. Are you kidding me?There are many and far better places in the city to shop for vinyl.
There is absolutely no record store that I have ever been to, across the country, that matches Peaches. The staff are amazing, the selection is killer, and the owner is a gem. One of the best places in New Orleans and I hope they stay a part of one of my favorite cities forever.
Fantastic record/music store! The owner and staff went above and beyond regarding customer service. I will without a doubt be back the next time Im in NOLA. Thank you, Peaches!
Got a quote from Lee at Peaches for the 6x5 Jimi Hendrix in the window done by Josh Wingerter. Went in to buy it and the price doubled! Not a very professional thing to do. Maybe it was Peaches that did that, or maybe it was Josh Wingerter himself. Not sure but either way Im turned off...
There is a lot of awesome stuff. Things that remind me of my childhood.
So the store is cool, but its WAY overpriced. good luck finding something below 50$ which seems to be their average price. some vinyls that you can find literraly everywhere (AM - Arctic Monkeys) from about 20$ are 40 or 50$ there. worse is that they put rare on so many vinyls (some arent even) to justify the huge price. very disappointing
Over priced records. A lot more new than used like most record stores. And the manager stole $10 from me. Upcharged a record that was marked for $30 that she seemed shocked to be so low trying to tell me it was worth $60. Quoted me a final accurate price and the next day i see my account was charged more. I look at the receipt to see she knowingly marked it up on the register from what the sticker said. Terrible
I’m sorry but this is the most over priced record store I’ve ever been to. I see $5 dollar records all the time and they’re posting them for $40. I love supporting local record stores but that is robbery. I never write reviews but I had to for this. People have the internet and can see the price of how much a record is worth. Hopefully in the future they will update their prices to reflect how much something is actually worth. If you love records this place will insult your integrity
Another record store that my son loves. Great selection of everything. Albums, clothing, systems to play your music on, etc. The owner & her daughter are very well versed in the stereo equipment they sell. I had a great experience at Peaches. You can tell the store was converted from an old ice cream/soda shop. Cool history.
This place is fantastic, but please be aware of markup! If you’re a new collector, you wouldn’t know that you’re being taken advantage of. Peaches had a Kids See Ghost vinyl which sells for 16 dollars everywhere. Peaches were selling it for 39.99, and it wasn’t a rare press of even a colored vinyl. Use discography to check the value and see if it’s reasonable. It seems like their favorite numbers at 40, 50, and 60. Most of the records here are priced double than where you can find anywhere else. The owner was even trying to up-sale me on a vinyl tote instead of just giving me a regular bag to carry my vinyl to avoid it getting rained on- just ludicrous.
I did not enjoy my experience in this store. First thing I noticed was the prices were way to high especially for new cd’s. I actually found a used cd that I’ve been wanting, but it had no price on it, so I asked someone. They brought it back to me saying it was $26 and I said no. I found it in the used section. He says oh, it should be $10 then, I said I’d give that. Keep in mind here this was opened and the bar code was drawn through with a sharpie. I overheard them discussing it, so I went up to see and she tried telling me it was new and wasn’t even supposed to be on the floor yet. She said it’s not even in our system. She also said, look, it’s new with no prints or scratches on it. I laughed and said it’s used just the same. She offered a discount at $20. I laughed again and said $10 for the used disc or nothing at all. Nothing at all it was. They know nothing about music. Everything was out of place and in wrong categories. I don’t recommend going here. I always try and shop locally to support businesses, but I can buy this stuff way cheaper on line, but I rarely ever have done such.
Everything is double the price anywhere else in town. Stopped looking after figuring out if I did find anything I would never pay what they are asking. Many better records stores in town
Great selection of records and concert t-shirts...lots of gifts..
Used records here are in rough condition and horribly overpriced ($60-100+ for collectables- most of which would run 10-40$ tops in other shops). Recent reissue pressings are grossly overpriced and typically have a post-it note attached to the cover saying Rare. 1/2 the store isnt even records, but kitsch stuff like socks, games etc. If all the horrible aspects of Record Store Days were a physical location, this would be it- New Orleans deserves a much better record store.
One of the best record shops, period. The owner is amazing and offers helpful suggestions and she genuinely loves vinyl and music. If you are a true enthusiast or a casual collector, this is the shop for you.
Cool place friendly an helpful staff good inventory of old and new music
Have all the people who rated this place 5 stars ever been to another record store? Here’s an example of what I mean: I have seen Neil Young’s “Reactor” album in practically every record store in the US. Never have I seen it priced over 10 dollars and at this “record” store, they were selling it for 60. So, if you want to spend top dollar for throw-away, trash records from artists at the tail-end of their career, you should shop here.
Always that home town feeling and a wealth of knowledge
Really fun record shop, lots of cool art and funky items
National Treasures, both the record store and the owner. Amazing local selection and youre treated like family. I can not recommend highly enough!❣️
Large selection of New and used records, but there was so much more there. Books, shirts other really unique finds. Cant wait to get back and explore.
Neat store with a nice selection, but a little pricey for me.
Cool stuff, great people!
This is the most overpriced record store I have ever been to. Peaches has a good selection but at 2 to 3 times the prices of other record stores. The latest Godspeed you Black Emperor is $50 here, I got my copy of $24 at my local record shop. You want to get some Kamasi Washington? Be prepared to pay over $100. The Sade boxset? $400. Anything in this store that you might not find in other stores can be purchased at much more reasonable prices on discogs.com, even after factoring in shipping. The only reason I give this two stars is because the layout of the store is very cool and they do have a good selection. However, a good selection with outrageous prices does not make for a store I would ever recommend spending money in.
You go here to walk around and remember music that you use to listen to in your car driving around after high school but you definitely dont come here to buy anything because the prices are pretty outrageous. Although I understand why they have to charge what they do since Im sure their rent for a space this large is completely through the roof.
Nice large record shop. Not the largest selection of records, but decent amount. I wish they had a bigger used selection and cheaper prices. They also have lots of other merchandise available in store.
Great place to find both old and new LPs.
Extensive collections of Records. The good stuff is in the back wall.
Looks good till you see the prices.
Oh man I love this place. What is it about pursuing through albums in a store full of other music lovers? I could do it for hours. If you love music, support this fabulous store. I promise you will find a treasure!!
The selection of rare and out of print records is unbelievable. Wiah I would have had a few hundred more to spend a day get more vinyl.
Very welcoming staff. Found exactly what I was looking for which I was surprised to find. Great selection to choose from. Highly recommend.
Amazing selection and curration
When you walk in, the first thing you notice about Peaches is the scope of the place. Its no Amoeba in LA, but it is still huge and pretty impressive. The look of the place is very unique and interesting and they have a ton of inventory. I dont buy vinyl and honestly havent bought a CD in years, so I was just browsing. But, the prices for CDs did seem rather high. Most new CDs seemed to be in the $22-23 range. However, they do have a very large used inventory. Overall, very cool place with great staff.
My favorite record store of All time. I completely enjoy the staff and ambiance.
Went by to get some Zydeco for a good friend of mine.. Miss Peaches was super lovely as always.. her store is spacious and shes so knowledgeable about the local music scene as well as world wide celebs. Chk her out..
Love this store. Great selection of vinyl, and lots of quirky gifts.
Nice employees. Expensive vinyl
Very cool placeto visit for music lovers
I wanted to love Peaches. I really did. But the prices here are outrageous. Whether its used or new vinyl, CDs or pretty much anything else. So many used records (in terrible condition) priced at $15 or above that could be found in a $1 bin at any other record store. New vinyl also runs at least $10 more than any other local shop as well. Im all for supporting my local record shops but Id rather go to one that is not specifically meant to gouge tourists.
Great selection of vinyl!
Mama Peaches and the entire peaches family are wonderful !!! You can tell they love what they do, they are always able to help me locate tough finds and even do special orders. Ive been shopping with them for several years now, they are my go to for vinyl finds and creative finds from nola natives. 💛
Hardly any used. If youre looking for new vinyl look here.
Friendly staff but way overpriced.
Great place. Great staff. The building is quite historic (always read the plaques). Prices are not bad. Super-great selection, though. Get to know the staff and they’ll get you to some gems. I left with so many fun records.
Cool place to stop by and check out. They dont have a great selection of music, but its a cool shop
Very nice lady working there. If you went to see old Woolworth counter, and the supplies deli go there. It was amazing to see how cheap things were back in the day.
Quite literally the epitome of bottom of the barrel in terms of New Orleans’ record stores. The owner is mean and rude to people who come to give her their hard earned money. Their selection is simply mediocre AT BEST, the arrangement of the store is confusing, disorganized and just entirely has a weird vibe to it. The employees are NOT knowledgeable about vinyl and basically unhelpful. Let’s see, what else? Oh yes, the singularly most over priced records in the entire city. All around a bad business and I would give less stars if it were possible!!!
Amazing inventory, exceptionally friendly staff. Slightly pricey but worth the stop.
Peaches is icon and a must visit!
Cool vinyl record store with lots of other unique merchandise.
What a fun exciting place to visit! We were in town for the Bayou Classic and the music welcomed my family and I in...not to mention the FREE beer 🍺 All types of music genres were represented in this friendly establishment. Totally a music lovers dream. The beautiful owner was customer friendly and I will definitely come back to buy more graphic tees...and drink a beer while I shop LOL
Great store with wonderful elements of New Orleans music and culture throughout.
Great place to find old vinyl records
Place was great it had great items.
Love this record shop! Wonderful record selection and great merch on top of that! 10/10 will go back!
Wildly overpriced vinyl, but if there’s something you gotta get you’re gonna pay for it. It seems like they price $5-$10 higher per LP. That was the modus operandi at the previous location as well. They are friendly, but not any friendlier than any other record store.
Huge, varied selection. Youll be able to find vinyl here that you never see at other record outlets. My girls and I found several treasures weve been wanting to add to our record collection. One of our purchases was a shirt that my daughter wanted; they were out of her size but are shipping her one as soon as theyre able to restock. The lady at the register was extremely sweet, too.
The best record shop in NOLA, hands down. I had a great time talking to the owners. We will definitely be back next time were in the big easy!
Found a keeper, but a lot was extremely overpriced.
Ita nice to see the new releases but also.the quality old pressings.
Incredible selection of CDs, vinyl, and rare collections. Also nice to see them support so many local artists! A must-see on Market Street.
Awesome store
They make you feel like you at home
This place is a great. A really cool experience checking out all the cassettes and vynals records. They have it all. New and old school.
Great quality selection, but youre going to pay for the curation. Dont expect bin diving for hidden treasures on the cheap. Good quality used commons are $10-15. Rarer selections are $20+.
