I worked for Alta Max for about a week (the shortest amount of time that Ive EVER held a job, since I started working at the age of 15). At first everyone was friendly, of course, but by the third day, I realized that the lady who i would work directly with was EXTREMELY condescending. I expressed my concerns to the owner, whos the total opposite from my manager at the time, and I was very disappointed by the response that I received. He agreed that she was condescending and unorganized, but he basically said that she knows the company in and out and she has a good relationship with the customers. At that point I knew that nothing was going to change. He basically was saying, deal with it. Again, I was disappointed due to his response and lack of concern for my issues. I ended up quitting. Two days after I quit, they sent me a separation notice. However, when pay day rolled around, I didnt receive my check. Throughout the course of two weeks, I called the companys payroll and HR department questioning the whereabouts of my check. The response I received every single time was, We forgot to cut your check or Ill mail it and youll receive it tomorrow. Its been two weeks, going on three and I STILL havent received my check. Fed up and flabbergasted, I decided to call the Labor Board. I received a response from the Labor Board saying my check should be there tomorrow. Im still playing the waiting game. Although Mr. Lee, the owner, seems like a nice man, it is imperative that he understands that you can not accept this type of conduct from employees just because they may have been with the company for a long time. Thats not an excuse for them to do as they want and run potential long-term employees away. I was really disappointed in this company.
As an employee of Alta Max for the last two years, and as the owner/operator of a navigation school who trained Merchant Seamen for the Coast Guard Exam, I cannot think of a nicer place to work. They have always treated their employees with the utmost respect, and treat them as family. Several of the employee have been here well over 20 years. In meeting Brittany while setting her up with computer and logins, she seemed very nice. Im sorry she was so unhappy in such a short time. There are many really good people that work very hard to help make this company work.I have know Mr. Lee for eight years, he is by far one of the nicest people you could ever want to meet.As a work place I give it a 5 star. *****
Great place friendly staff.
Great Management, Great Employees
