I freaking love my girl Starr, who always has me pumped up & excited to get new holes in my body. I am not a very experienced getting-pierced person, but Ive had several experiences here and I tell you what - these people take care of you. Starr always narrates exactly what shes doing so I know what to expect (very important to me, personally), and while her pierce is fast, she always takes extra time before & after the actual hole to make sure everything is right! From piercing placement to making sure the hardware is installed perfectly, she is knowledgeable, attentive, and quite frankly - a sheer delight. I feel very safe & taken care of with her!Natalie helped me pick my jewelry today. While I was originally leaning in a different direction, she recommended something else that Id also had my eye on. I quickly realized she was 100% right! Her recommendation was much more me :) (How did she know??) Been here 3 times. Incredibly great service and also so so clean and professional. First time they didn’t let me do the appointment because I forgot my vaccination proof. I was fairly upset at the time, but later was super grateful. It’s a sign that they take the health&safety very seriously.And I promise that for a business who’s entire setup is about sticking needles into your body for tattoos or piercings.... this is something you want.Next two times I brought my proof and had zero issues. In my experience they really made no exceptions for quality. Pricey but it gets done right. I’ll splurge for the assurance that my piercings are getting done well.

Had a consultation with Starr today and let me just say- this place and the lovely people who work there are absolutely amazing. After being rejected at another studio for not having the proper anatomy for a daith, I was super devastated but decided to try another studio before I gave up my search which landed me here at Nine Moons. This could literally be the friendliest piercing shop in the city.Followed a recommendation by a local tattoo spot, wondered a few blocks over, climbed the flights of stairs, greeted through the steel grate, temp check, and sanitized hands we were greeted by 3 of the most knowledgeable and nicest gals in the piercing industry.

I got my first lobe piercings done here by Johnny Pearce about a month ago and have had a checkup appointment as well. Since these were my first piercings, I was very neurotic about finding a place that knew what they were doing, cared about their clients, and provided the best possible care/experience, and Nine Moons has exceeded my every expectation. I was detail-oriented enough to be prepared to bring and use a ruler to measure the placement myself at my appointment, but to my surprise, they had their own ruler and was even more meticulous about placement than I was, and would not pierce me until they were confident I would be happy with how it turned out. It honestly felt a bit like starting a group project preparing to do all the work, and then finding out your group has an even smarter kid preparing to carry the project. If you are being very careful about a permanent body mod and looking for an expert piercing place that can answer your every question and are passionate about what they do, Nine Moons is the place for you! Of all of my friends with lobe piercings, I have had the best healing experience (hardly any pain after the first/second day and then no issues with my piercing whatsoever), which I attribute at least partially to my piercing experience and aftercare guide. They are also super responsive by email and are open to answering questions about your piercings after the appointment. Tip: ask lots of questions at your appointment to make the most of their expertise - you wont be disappointed.

Honestly the best piercing shop I have ever been to. The team at nine moons really goes above and beyond for each client. I have had the most finicky forward helix (they’re difficult piercings in general) and Starr, Naomi, Johnny and Cassie have been fantastic every step of the way. This team genuinely cares about their customers, healing process, and comfort. You get what you pay for here - yes the pricing is more than some shops - BUT - the team here is noticeably more professional, knowledgeable and courteous than any other shop I have been to. As someone who plans to have several more holes put in their ears (especially after Covid) I have to say I’ll only be coming here from now on. I highly recommend this shop and it’s totally worth the trek from Brooklyn.

I had an amazing experience here a few months ago when I got an upper lobe piercing by Johnny. He was so professional, soothing and the entire process was easy and pain free. He spent as much time as necessary to make sure the locations of the piercings were perfect and asked me several times for my input to make sure I was happy with how it looked. All of the staff were super helpful and followed all of the COVID precautions necessary to keep everyone safe and sound. I cant wait to get my septum piercing here once they offer under mask services!

Starr and Johnny are wonderful. I’ve had almost all my piercings done here, and now I wouldn’t go anywhere else. They really take the time to make sure you have the perfect placement, (which is especially important if you’re working towards a final goal, like multiple stretched earlobe holes.) Cannot recommend NMP enough. I have been there for four of my ear piercings. They have been consistently kind and professional and are hyper careful to make sure everything is done safely and correctly (especially during the pandemic!) They were extremely understanding when I was squeamish for my first set of piercings, and Johnny talked me through the process calmly and slowly. Piercers pay careful attention to make sure piercings look good and are as pain-free and safe as possible. Whether you are a body art beginner or a regular, this is the spot to be - I would never go anywhere else.

I cant recommend this studio enough. I came to NMP to get a piercing removed. Im not kidding, THIS PIERCING WAS BASICALLY GLUED SHUT. Casey used every trick in the book to get it removed and after 7+ attempts, 45 minutes, and a lot of pacing, BOOM.I felt like this could have been a traumatic experience for both of us, but she kept it super cool and professional the entire time. 12/10 for Caseys persistence, creativity, and bedside manner.Studio was really clean and the 3 staff I encountered were all very welcoming. I absolutely love this studio and the people who work there. I got my second helix done by Starr in 2015ish and every single visit since then has been such a positive experience, whether I was getting a new piercing, needed help with an existing piercing, or was looking for new jewelry. Ive had appointments with Starr, Johnny, and Casey, and all three have been so patient, professional, and kind. Theyre honest with you about what kinds of piercings/jewelry will work with your anatomy, and really go above and beyond to make sure youre set up for a happy, healthy piercing.In the last couple of months Ive gotten several new piercings from Casey, and those visits have really been a bright spot in a rough year! The piercings themselves were easy and shockingly painless, and the stylists helped me pick out some absolutely gorgeous jewelry (including a cute little bat charm customized for my current set up-- thanks Naomi!!) The studio takes their COVID precautions seriously, and I felt very safe during these visits. I went to Nine Moons for a troublesome front helix piercing I got about one month ago. Casey was great. She changed the back, cleaned me up and gave me great follow up advice. Will definitely go back.

They sanitized my cellphone ( how awesome is that), my hands, did my temps and kept the doors locked until I was done. Appointments are super easy and theyre very accommodating to your specific needs. Communication is great, theyre quick to reply to emails and on the phone. This is the 3rd time Ive done a piercing with Casey, shes amazingly patient, informative, and very kind ( she loaned me her umbrella). Ive have 2 daiths done for migraines, and a VCH each time she talked me through the process and did breathing exercises. Her calm demeanor relaxed me and the pain was quick and minimal. They dont have you waiting long, its way faster than any doctors appointment Ive had so 👍👍 for that.

I had been emailing back and forth with Starr abou pricing and jewelry stock for a couple of days before she suggested I make an appointment to stop in and see the jewelry myself. Starr was there along with another piercer, Casey. They both were incredibly friendly and chill and made me feel comfortable despite my nerves. She showed me a few options they have from BVLA and held them up to my tragus with needle nose tweezers so I could look to see how they would look and calculated the prices of all the pieces to include not only the ends but the labret posts and the piercing charge so I had a complete picture of the price. When I chose the piece I wanted she asked if I wanted to come back or if I had time to get pierced then and there. She told me that she blocked out some time in case I decided on a piece and wanted to get it pierced immediately, which was beyond what I was expecting. She sterilized the pieces while I filled out the paperwork and then I was pierced! It was such a great experience and I cant give them enough props.I am in love and am so excited to work with them in the future!

One night after deciding to get a piercing I started looking up places on Yelp!, messaging two. I asked if it was possible to have a female do my piercing (as that is what I am more comfortable with) and Starr with Nine Moons answered immediately. She was available to do my piercing, swiftly answering questions about cost and appointment scheduling. She directed me to her scheduling website (super easy to use, available appointments late into the evening) and so, I scheduled my appointment. I believe I left a CC on file to ensure I go.Nine moon is within a tattoo establishment on the second floor of a walk up (dont recall if there was a elevator) and it was very clean, stylish and spacious. I was early for my appointment so they offered a seat and beverage. I had to sign some disclosures blah blah end up in a very clean set up room with Starr, who was very nice. I was nervous and tense because Im weird with new people, but Starr was very nice and informative and patient. She was quick, and I left feeling really great and happy about my choice. After the piercing was done she wanted me to come back and recheck in 2 months, to ensure everything healing correctly (no charge - I thought that was nice). Overall I was really happy with my experience, I would go back to Starr and my piercing is healing really well. A+

I went to Starr to get my rook pierced (my first cartilage piercing), and she was fantastic throughout the process. She had clearly read my information before I got there, suggesting appropriate jewelry options for me. She talked me through each step of the process as it happened and helped me breathe through the pain to make the experience as easy as possible. About a week after I got it pierced, I was having some pain in my ear, and I reached out. Starr was genuinely concerned and had me come in to clean the ear out. Since she was extremely busy, Johnny cleaned my ear, again helping me breathe through the pain. He gave me his professional opinion on my ear, but encouraged me to listen to my body and see a doctor if I wanted extra peace of mind. My ear is doing infinitely better right now, and Im so grateful that I chose Nine Moons thanks to their experience, compassion, and respect of my needs!

One of the very few piercing places with an honest-to-god professional atmosphere in the city. They know what theyre doing, but make sure you dont walk-in even just for a consultation. Make an appointment and youll be treated like a celebrity.The owner/piercer Star put my needs over her sales, and advised against me buying jewelry for certain reasons. I went for a daith piercing a year ago in the west village and they did both ears with stainless steel. After a year it wouldnt heal. Having come to this location for a VCH piercing I had a great experience with Cassie shes super knowledgeable and easy going, talked me though the entire process. She took both out, I waited for it to heal and do it properly this time. It may be $$$ to $$ but the service is worth it. They really know what theyre doing, the place is so clean and has a great vibe.

Came in to see Casey for a nostril piercing while I was in NYC for a trip. Had been wanting to do this forever and found Nine Moons via the APP website. If you come during the daytime know that you must take the elevator on Broadway to the studio on the 2nd floor. The stylist at the front helped me pick out the right jewelry (good selection too) for my face. The piercer Casey was awesome and talked me through the process and it was over in less than 5 minutes. Yes, this particular piercing hurts a lot more than an ear piercing but the pain subsided pretty quickly. She gave me all the aftercare information and answered all my questions. Clean, sterile, informative, and helpful! Love my piercing. If I was a local Id come back soon.

Starr is a great piercer, attention to detail and cleanliness. You can tell shes been doing this some time. Only advice is for them to offer eyebrow rings at different price points. The few options available, started at around 40ish and went up. Not sure if with genuine titanium they can.

Starr is always sweet, amazing and professional. Everyone there is!I had my rook and tragus pierced. Everything is clean, sterile, and very knowledgeable about piercings and what would work best for your ear. I went there 2 years before this visit and Starr pierced my conch. She even took a peek to make sure it healed correctly. I wouldnt let any other piercer do it except her. Her voice is very calming, and she gets excited with you about what you want to get.

Pricey, but you get what you paid for. Johnny took great care to explain every step of the process and make us comfortable. You really get the feeling these folks know their stuff.

I had my septum pierced here on May 31st for my birthday. Starr was just as AMAZING as the reviews said she was. It was on a Thursday around 6:30pm and I waited about 6 minutes for her. She took time to explain the pros and cons and even gave me a few minutes to decide alone before we even left the lobby which was really nice instead of just rushing me in and out. She fitted me with the cutest tiny ring, which I love and the process was super quick which is awesome when a needle is sticking through your face 🙂. I’ll be back for sure!

I love this place. I had my nipples pierced here and it didnt hurt much at all. Starr is the main piercer here(I think they just added another one last week) and she has the best bedside manner. My nipples are flat and problematic but anytime I have an issue, shes very helpful. This place uses only titanium jewelry and better, which is best for healing. Its difficult to find the place from the outside but when you walk up the stairs, youll find a huge studio. Theres a big waiting area. The busiest days are on the weekend, so if your weekday is open, its better to show up then. The studio is also shared with Sacred Tattoo, and its many artists.

I had a piercing done by Starr today. I had my previous piercings done in Providence and was surprised at how quick and efficient the piercing step was here. Im so used to the actual step of piercing being dragged on and on and taking like five whole minutes. But Starr cleaned my ear, prepared, and pierced so efficiently that it felt like it was over in an instant. And it looks great! Thanks, Starr :-)

I had my tongue pierced before, but I had to take it out for surgery and I never but the ball back in and that was nine years ago. I wanted to get it pierced again and I looked up a few places and the reviews were awesome, so I decided to go to PBA and Starr was there, like the young lady said Starr was awesome, she looked at my tongue and told me that it didnt have to be re-pierced what a relief. Professional yet awesome Star is a sniper in a world of piercings. She uses a needles and weighs in the symmetry and overall look of the piercing / placement. Im sure it was just a bad day, but the attendants were exceedingly rude and condescending when all we wanted was to buy a new piece of jewelry. Apparently choosing a piece requires an hour plus wait and the highly essential expertise of the one piercer who works there. After advising I was confident I could choose a piece on my own I was told in no less condescending a tone that I was not qualified to choose a piece. Lovely. Thanks.

Visited on a Sunday to get my septum pierced. There was a bit of a wait but when I got in the guy was Great, super friendly and it was very clean and sterile. Pricing is reasonable too, I paid $60 for my piercing, especially with the location its at I was surprised. They dont do appointments for piercings

I went in because I lost the front of my nose stud in the shower. A woman helped me and I use the word helped so loosely.....she took out the trays and gave me prices for what I asked for but could have been less bothered.....I asked about one particular stud and she just said “that’s too big for your nose can you IMAGINE that hanging out of your nose??” how unbelievably rude is that??? She was extremely condescending....never once asked me what I liked/what look I wanted to go for....her attitude just screamed “we don’t care about you or tour needs and actually your money” my friend asked could he touch a stud and her response was “physically touch but do not lift or move the stand at all...there’s s lot of money in this merchandise” at that point we walked out....all 3 of us deal with customer service to a high level and are based out of soho but I’d actually travel anywhere in the state other than this location.....it was disgusting

Got my nose and my cartilage pierced. Quick and easy just make sure you are early otherwise if you’re late they make you reschedule

Great place! I found Nine Moons through the Association of Professional Piercers website, so I had high hopes. I went in to get a shoddily done earlobe peircing (done at another tattoo studio) checked out since it was giving me irritarion and a possible allergic reaction.I had an appointment with Johnny to evaluate my ears - he was very helpful and changed out my problem jewelry with hypoallergenic titanium studs. I mentioned in passing one ear was giving me more problems than the other, so he fitted that one with a longer backing to accompany the swelling. My ears havent been giving me any problems since!Only downfall was that the studio was a bit difficult to find since the entrance is up a set of stairs in an unsuspecting building, but that might just be from me being unobservant haha. As a poor college student, the jewelry was a bit pricy (~$100 for a set of titanium earrings) but definitely worth it if you have sensitive skin like me - the pain of an infection isnt worth saving a few bucks.Overall, would recommend if youre having issues with an existing piercing and need a professional to look at it. I definitely plan to come back for any future ear piercings I decide to get.

Tobias and Starr at Pure Body Arts are the best! I got my septum pierced by Starr and my Tragus and Conch by Tobias. Both pierces are incredibly professional and lovely. My septum piercing was my first ever piercing after getting my lobes pierced at age 16 and I was in such good hands! Their jewelry selection is awesome too. Theyve got heaps of brands (anatometal, neometal, etc.) and theres literally something for everyone. If you are living in nyc, I highly recommend going. I just left nyc and I am gutted. They are the best!

I had a bad reaction with my tragus piercing (which was done elsewhere) and after receiving NO help from the original shop I was pierced in, I came to PBA to see if they had any advice. Not only were they super friendly but Starr was absolutely fantastic! She gave me lots of advice and plenty of information about the jewlery and healing process so that I could make my own decision. The small gold bar I was pierced with was really stuck and she changed the jewelry with care and ease. Feeling relieved that I came here before going to a Dermatologist;she certainly saved the piercing for me. Wont go anywhere else now...
