Fantastic experience, hands down. The office, the staff and the level of professionalism was top notch. Dr. Schlussel was no nonsense and caring with his exam, and I got the perfect prescription lenses I needed without feeling pushed to overreach. I would highly recommend people switching to this practice.

Dr. Christine Law is an AMAZING doctor.She was very patient, knowledgeable, and personable. She was thorough with my exam and gave me obtainable options of care regarding my eye issues. She didnt rush or speed through her explanation. Dr. Law spoke in language I could understand and in detail. I truly trust her experience and advice. I wish EVERY doctor could be so great.The office personnel was also very efficient and friendly. Being that my appointment was on my lunch break, it was even nicer to get such amazing quality health care without spending a whole day in a doctors waiting room. In other words...absolutely minimal wait, and easy convenient appointments.I highly recommend Dr. Christine Law and nynjoptometrist!

Dr. Alan Schlussel is a great doctor. He is extremely friendly and makes the visit quick and comfortable. I’ve also seen Dr. Christine Law who I also cannot say enough great things about. The nurses and staff are all helpful and waiting time is minimal. Highly recommend.

I had an appointment with Dr. Saggese for an annual eye exam and contact fitting and had a great experience. Dr. Saggese was great - very prompt and friendly and provided thorough explanations of everything we were going through. Most importantly, she got me an updated prescription that dramatically helped my vision compared to my last one from another doctor.The staff was also friendly, competent, and even explained to me my benefits before visiting the doctor so I would know exactly what I would have to pay out of pocket.

It was an honor and a privilege to have Dr. Schlussel taking care of our eyes. He is outstanding and very meticulous. He is very skilled and really an expert in his field. He is also very gracious and extremely courteous and helpful. It will be our pleasure to come back for our check ups. We know that we are very well-taken care of. He is the very best. I waited about 45 minutes in the waiting room for my 6 pm appointment, which I consider fairly normal and was not bothered with. After I met with the receptionist who does the preliminary eye exams, he called me in. I had asked to not do a retinal scan, as I really couldnt afford the extra cost that was not covered under my insurance. When I went to the exam room, he rushed through the exam, briskly asking me about how often I wear glasses and contacts. While I dont wear contacts often, I had expressed when I made the appointment and to the receptionist I would like an up to date glasses and contacts exam (for an up to date prescription). In a misunderstanding (which can happen; I just had wished for a better response to the misunderstanding), Dr. Schlussel thought I meant I just want new glasses since I said I dont wear contacts often, and he assumed I didnt want to pay extra for the supply of new glasses and contacts.He took about five minutes with me to examine my eyes before hurrying me out. He then sat me down in front of what I assumed to be a sales lady and left before explaining that my benefits either covered frames or the contact lens exam. The receptionist explained this to me, and I told the receptionist I had actually requested the contact lens exam, and thats what I prefer if that would be okay. I wasnt out of the exam room for even 5 minutes. She was nice enough to check if he could quickly do the contact lens exam for me. However, he decided he had to leave and told me I could reschedule (actually had his receptionist tell me). I was very sad (and tired), as I work long hours, and given their limited hours, having me come back for a short exam is a bit daunting for me. However, this seemed to be of little concern. I felt very dismissed. While they offered that I could come back, I am not sure that this is the best place for me to obtain my contact lens exam and new supply of glasses and contacts. From the reviews, it seems that this is not the usual bedside manner and hopefully he treats at least a portion of his patients with respect, but I just wanted to share my experience.

Been seeing Dr. Schlussel for about 10 years now or longer. Always professional and great bedside manners. His staff are also kind and attentive.

To preface, I am a recent graduate with a full-time job which means Im under my own insurance, but Im also trying to save as much money as I can. I came to Dr. Schlussels office to get fitted and prescribed contacts for the first time.PROS:The woman who helped me practice putting on my contacts was very helpful in giving me tips on how to put them on/take them off.CONS:Dr. Schlussel suggested I get daily contacts since I do not intend on using contacts every day, but then only biweekly and monthly contacts were covered by my insurance through the office for fitting/ordering so I HAD to choose biweekly contacts. If I had know otherwise, I would have chosen a different optician who could have provide me with dailies.The costs for in-network and out-of-network contacts were not clearly articulated to me because I am still confused by what my options could have been and their respective costs. I didnt feel comfortable further inquiring about the costs because the doctor did not clearly know what the costs were under my plan, and I was not given the time to talk to the staff before being fitted for a set of contacts that he already chose for me.I was charged for an eye scan that cost $49 and was not given the option to opt-out of it or told that it was mandatory before even booking the exam (HIDDEN FEE? Looks like it). Ive told myself that I dont mind it because I was told I can get a copy of it so that makes up for it.I was charged a $15 copay for the regular eye exam, $10 for what I assume is the contact exam/fitting/trial contacts, and $49 for the retina/eye scan. I didnt get a receipt that enumerated the specific charges so who knows exactly what I paid for and how much.SUMMARY:If you want to save money, you should probably find a different practice.If you plan on going here: make sure to talk to the receptionist and ask about what contacts are covered by your insurance BEFORE coming in for an exam/fitting.If you plan on going here and you want to save money: MAKE SURE to opt-out of the retina scan. (Im not even sure if opting-out is an option though.)If you plan on going here and you want to save money: get fitted for the type of contacts you WANT and that the insurance will COVER, obtain the prescription, and order elsewhere.

Dr Schlussel is not only proficient & excellent, but he goes above and beyond to take care of his patients. Its rare I find in New York for top notch doctors to at the same time be this personable and kind. No question is ever too much for Dr Schlussel. Recently I again got to experience his patience and kindness when I needed a medical letter urgently on a Friday night when he was on vacation .. he not only provided it immediately despite being gone, but worked with me through 3 rounds of editing without seeming the slightest bit annoyed. Hes incredibly kind and I feel so lucky to have found him in the myriad of New York doctors.

The doctor was very thorough and slow with me. He explained all my options and answered my questions. The staff was also very accommodating and answered all my billing questions.

Dr. Schlussel was super kind and very thorough - he understood how it is hard for me to adjust to new prescriptions and gave me an intermediate one so I wouldnt have to make such a large leap. Then Talia helped me pick out frames with TRULY endless patience. I came back three times and kept changing my mind, and she just kept helping me - it was truly amazing to find people that kind!

Ive been a patient of Dr Schlussels for nearly 8 years and think he and his staff are fantastic. They are very attentive and responsive and their level of care is unmatched. I wear both contacts and glasses and have never had any issues with either! Ive even contacted their after-hours line on the weekend for an emergency and got a callback from Dr. Schlussel directly.

I was a little concerned about an in-person visit while were still in a lockdown, but was comforted by the measures taken by Dr. Schlussel and the staff in general. It felt very safe and just like a routine eye exam, with extra precautions.

Very receptive and proactive office. The doctor listens and his experience gives me confidence regarding my various eye issues beyond simple check-up routines.

While the Dr. Schlussel and the technician are really nice and thorough the rest of the office staff is lacking. Poor customer service. I got a new prescription and frames and had to call SEVERAL times to find out where my new glasses were. And since they really push their overpriced frames you’d think they would want to get them back to you as soon as possible. I would suggest you get your prescription and buy your frames elsewhere.

This was my second annual visit and the whole office staff and Dr. Schlussel were stellar. They are very friendly and helpful, efficient and so easy to work with. They give you thorough information and are very easy to talk to. I highly recommend this practice!

I have been Dr. Schlussels patient for many years. I first went to him because his office was conveniently near my work. Now Im retired and its a bit of a commute to get there, but I keep going back because I feel well taken care of in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. There are no long waits, one never feels rushed. Dr. Schlussel, his technician and office staff are like old friends that I have the pleasure of visiting once a year.

Dr. Schlussel is very kind. Explained every test, its purpose, and the results in language that was easy to understand. I felt comfortable and understood the whole time. Appointment did not feel rushed at all. Glad I found him!

The doctor himself was nice but seemed a bit pushy when it came to buying eyewear directly from him. I hadnt even had a contact lens exam but received a bill in the mail for the service and also for a years worth of contacts. When I called to clear up the matter I was told that I had to pay the balance on the account despite never receiving the service or the product ordered. When I tried to go to another location to use my frame discount from my insurance, I was told that I already used it! I was shocked to find out that the doctor (or his employee) never rescinded the false claim that they made, now Im battling with my insurance company to recoup the discount that Im entitled to because this doctors office stole it. Although I think Dr. Schlussel is a capable optometrist the agony youre dragged through and the poor customer service you receive from his staff make this place not even worth the trouble as there are thousands of capable doctors whose staff are friendly and competent.

I have been suffering with dry eyes since I was 10 years old and I was a contact lens wearer for 7 years. About 9 years ago I had PRK laser to correct my vision, but my dry eyes had gotten worse.Dr. Schlussel recommended I start taking PRN fish oils and have a treatment for my dry eyes called Lipiflow. I had the Lipiflow treatment done by Dr. Schlussel and it was such an amazing experience! I have been seeing and feeling a lot better. Thank you !!!!

Booked through ZocDoc for an emergency visit. I was relieved Dr. Schlussel’s office is the type of doctors office that does it right. I downloaded a medical form to fill out prior to the office visit. The office staff was attentive and efficient. I was cordially welcomed and seen within a reasonable amount of time, and the doctor took his time to interview me before the medical exam. My case required a visit to an emergency room and Dr. Schluseel called the next day to check on my case. I highly recommend this doctor.

Dr. Schlussel is a great optometrist, but he overcharges for frames and lenses. I encourage you to go to his office just to get an eye exam, and then get your contacts and frames/lenses at SAMS club for a fraction of the price.

I have been going here every year since initially finding through ZocDoc in 2014. Very safe practices during COVID-19. Greeted at the door by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Coffee, water, TV in waiting room. Was taken in immediately at my appointment time. Dr. Schlussel was very friendly, fast, and answered all my questions in great detail. I was in and out as quickly as I wanted to be. Very current equipment.
