What a wonderful, cozy place! Three of us enjoyed a relaxed breakfast of perfectly prepared omelets, home fries, meats, and toasted homemade breads. Our server was very cordial and patient. Well stop here again if were in the area.
Only giving 2 stars for our waitress. She was wonderful! Otherwise, it took 47 minutes to be exact to receive our meal. This seems to be the fault of the kitchen management. Tickets were getting lost and tables that were coming in 30 minutes after us, got their food and finished before we even got our food. On the topic of the food, my meal came out half cold and the cheesy hash-browns tasted like they came from a bag. This place needs some serious kitchen assistance. The servers were wonderful though! Gave great entertainment as they were commenting on the slowness of the kitchen. All that wait for meager food.
We had an amazing breakfast and I really think this is an underrated spot! Omelettes were fresh and delicious, it seems like such a simple thing but here it is done so very well. It’s really cute inside and there is some outdoor seating also. Good coffee too, and Marlene was our server and she was so good! We will be coming back!

Coming from southern Louisiana, it is hard to find well flavored food like Biscuits and gravy.This would have been 5 stars total but our server was not the most professional. As someone who has spent 15+ years in customer service, I can empathize with someone not have a good day and the person not being perfectly bubbly but A ( our server) was overwhelmed and did not hide it. A also said the business was unorganized and was upset with the kitchen staff. A did not hold back on her frustration with the business and fellow coworkers.We were not upset and relaxed with waiting and enjoying the company at the table - the vibe that she brought to the table was not pleasant and we had to remind A for several things like water, coffee, toast that we previous requested.We will definitely return if in the area again but food and decor only get you so far.Thank you for a wonderful breakfast!
Really great food. Workers are very nice and the food comes out quick. The wait staff is not always quick to notice you. I think they assume everyone wants a slow pace.

The breakfast here was absolutely excellent. The Canolie French Toast was delectable with large portion sides of bacon, sausage and hash browns. I was blown away by my friends strawberry 🍓 pancakes as well. Definitely make a trip to the Riverside Cafe and Diner if youre in the mood to treat yourself to an out of this world breakfast. The employees and servers were so nice too. Im definitely going back soon👍👍👍

We love Riverside! We usually go as a family on the weekends. The team is so friendly and accommodating, the food is great and comes out quickly. Definitely recommend for a delicious breakfast in an inviting atmosphere.
It has a cool open space mill type vibe to it. The wait was 45 minutes for our food. My eggs were runny but it was ok overall.

We always have to prepare for anything when bringing our little toddler hungry to restaurants. From the moment we sat down, we were greeted with smiles and a sweet plate of fruit for our hungry little girl without even having to ask for something to tide her over. The rest of our experience was equally excellent with delicious food and wonderful service. Highly recommend the breakfast bowl! Yum!

Room is set up very poorly. Service was terrible. The cook time was twice as long as any other breakfast place. The home fries were not seasoned and it showed that the “cook” is not a “chef” by any stretch of the imagination. I have a hard time believing the hash was homemade other than in name. Paid >$40 for eggs Benedict and an omelet. Both were overcooked. I left there physically less hungry, but aggravated and disappointed. Not Newburyport quality. And I’m surprised it’s still in business.
Riverside is fantastic! I love how quiet it tends to be. It doesnt have the same bustle as restaurants downtown, and has plenty of free parking. I enjoy how I can go for a walk along the Merrimack after a good breakfast. The food itself is delicious. Personally, I get either the Spanish or veggie omelette with a pancake most of the time. Sometimes I also get their Green Monster wrap. They havent blown up yet, so Ive never had to wait for a table and I can always hear myself think. The staff is kind and attentive. Not much else to say - its a bit of a hidden gem I wouldnt have found if I didnt work in the same complex. Highly recommended.
Staff was very nice. Had plexiglass between tables for social distancing. Waitress work her mask. It kept coming down below her nose but she fixed it. I didnt love my food. My waffle wasnt hot and the eggs didnt taste real. I will probably give it another chance because the service was great and it can be hard to keep waffles warm. The person with me thought their pancake was ok.

What a delightful place to have breakfast, lunch, or brunch!! I discovered this place July 2020 and was pleased to find that they observe all of the Covid-19 health regulations AND they serve an excellent breakfast!! The servings are quite generous and the quality is exceptional. The 2 owners are extremely friendly and I loved the fact that I was eating in a former Towle Silver Factory. This cute cozy place has plenty of parking and indoor and outdoor seating. Check it out some time!!

Had never been, was really pleased with the breakfast.
We arrived to beautiful outdoor seating which we decided ahead of time that we didnt want to sit in the sun. We went inside, the waitress gave us the option of two tables, one by the door and the other by the window in the glowing sun, then told us she prefers we sit at the one by the window, handed us our menus and pointed us to our corner table.We waited the normal amount of time for her to come take our drink orders. Today is June 4th 2017, I ordered a soda. She brought over the bottle, opened it and rushed away saying she would bring over ice. Upon looking at the bottle, noticed it had a date on it best by February 3rd 2017 when she returned we let her know it was 4 months beyond its still by date. She asked if I wanted something else (unexpired soda would be great buttttt) so I ordered water. The water glasses are cute little round glasses which end up holding about a half measuring cup of water.We order our food... 2 meals nothing tricky She leaves, we get her attention moments later to add french toast to our order, she says the french will be out after our meals because its at the end of the line... totally fine.My glass is empty. We get our food. She rushes around the restaurant bringing people their side plates that werent delivered with their meals (also understandable) she brings us over the french toast, asks then sprinkles some powdered sugar on it and leaves. She continues to bring out several side plates with various sides on them to other tables. Im just waiting on some wheat toast which never arrives. We eat our food and have enough left overs for a take out container, we sit and wait. 25 minutes go by with customers coming in and customers leaving. I decide to head to the counter to ask for a container and the waitress hands it to me and says Im coming right over, this is yours (holds up the check) I let her know (since she has our check) that I never received the toast I ordered. She follows me to the table to tell me the toast is included in the price and she can get me some to take with me. (no thank you)I go back to the seat and start putting the food in the container. She puts the check on the table and says do you want me to do that or are you all set? (putting the food in the container) Im all set thanks my table mate takes the check to see if they take cards or just cash and the waitress leaned in and said I didnt charge you for the soda and things like that... just checking rightSo thank you for not charging us for the expired soda. Im not sure what and things like that was, because I still got charged for toast.The food was good. The french toast was very undercooked and custardy/eggy so we just ate the cooked edges.3 stars is where the rating fallsWe probably will never be back but it doesnt really seem like this staff cared either way.I understand we are all over worked and under staffed and under paid and working with the public can be no fun! We are not difficult to please at all. Hope you have better service, yummy food and non expired drinks!

I recently went here and the food was very good, large portions. I ordered a cheeseburger with no bun and asked for a side salad instead of fries. They were happy to accommodate my request. I would recommend this as a place to get a quick bite to eat!
Great local spot to stop at not too far from 95. Breakfast was excellent and the staff + owner were very kind.Service is a work in progress - they changed owners in July 2019 and are improving.

Really excellent breakfast/lunch place. Best overall experience I have had in Newburyport! Had the delicious Patriot Belgian Waffle with plenty of fruit. Owner and staff super friendly and enjoyable. Told them to add signage so people can more easily find and enjoy this place and the new owner.
The service was very good as well as the coffee. Servings were so large all of us brought food home. Loved the old building.

This used to be a favorite place of mine because of its location. Unfortunately since it changed hands it is not good. I decided to try and give it another chance after the first visit. The home fries with little flavor except for the vinegar taste, the bacon was Very salty. Charged $1.99 for muffin instead of toast rather than just charging the difference. The waitress would have know my displeasure had she asked how everything was when she dropped the check right after delivering my meal.

A decent greasy spoon type place with large portions and mediocre food. But it was clean, fast, easy and satisfying. Parking lot and accessible. Not a destination restaurant, but not a bad choice for travelers needing a quick lunch stop.
My first experience here was not the greatest. The woman who took my order was not very pleasant, seemingly stressed about something which translated poorly to her customers. After I ordered my wrap, I also ordered 2 iced coffees to which she rolled her eyes and told me to “wait”, even though I was the only customer ordering at the time. The coffees were not made correctly and the green peppers in my wrap were soggy. The atmosphere seemed nice and the restaurant part seemed clean however behind the counter, not so much. Unfortunately, not sure if I’ll be returning.

The owner is always there and works hard to make a great restaurant run. He is friendly and the staff is too. Apart from the owner, this place is run almost exclusively by Women. They are friendly and helpful and Ive never had a bad meal here, only great meals. Breakfast or lunch, they hit home runs every time. I love going to Riverside Cafe.

First we walked in to no one having food! No space! No knowledge of our presence. We went to sit outside. After 5 minutes I walked inside and asked if we should order at the counter. The kid there gave me an attitude and said the woman would be there in a minute. 15 minutes and we left. Worse service I seen in a long time. When we left tables still didnt have food!

The menu is expansive and everything sounds amazing. Execution is meh at best. Pancakes are gigantic and bread-like. Breakfast bowls are heavy but not tasty. Service means well but cant keep orders straight. Portions are way too big.

Service is HORRENDOUS. Theres two waitresses for the entire restaurant so that should be your first red flag. Theres no please wait to be seated sign so people walk in randomly and cut ahead of you. We just waited over 30 minutes outside and watched two different parties of 2 ppl cut us. One of the waitresses actually kissed one of the guys that cut us!!! 😑Then when we confronted her about them getting seated before us (they walked right in while there was 3 different parties waiting for tables) she tried to say he made a reservation. 😂 This place is a joke. I waitressed for over 14 years and Im horrified at how rude / discombobulated the staff here is. Its really sad because the food is awesome but thats the second time Ive tried to go here and the second time the service was actually even worse which I didnt think could be possible. Get it together.

It was the first time... the food and the service sas excellent!
The setting and general atmosphere is nice. However upon sitting down the waitress drops the sugar and states At Least I didnt break that one. The food is presented well however, the more you eat the worse it gets. The cornbeef hash tates nothing like cornbeef hash. And they did not know that you put the chesse in the omlet.

I work inside the pma building and reccomend trying the amazing flatbreads they have at the cafe. preferably the grilled chicken with pesto. to die for! and i am a picky eater. food is always fresh warm and very tasty. and the workers are sweet and kind.
