Fabulous clothing and super nice people who work there!

A cool place with a wide verity great jackets. There is sometimes a dog there that is super chill and a nice presents to have. All the people are very friendly and overall it is a nice place to shop at.

Pre-Covid experience: nice selections of apparel. Would recommend if youre looking for sale items or dont want to wait to order online. The store is kind of small so expect a limited supply. Love my Helly Hansen jacket and matching hat!

Located in Newport, on the famous cobblestone rd, lies this beautiful store called Helly Hansen, which is by far my favorite clothing store around, I literally drive 40 mins just to go see what they have got on sale or what just came in . If your not familiar with Helly Hansen, it’s premium sailing / boating clothing. The quality doesn’t get any better then Helly, but your certainly will pay the price for their line. I have jackets, vests, long sleeves, shorts, hats, decals, etc . You just can’t help feeling better about your self wearing their stuff . The Helly store in Newport I believe is the only one around in the north east, I haven’t seen any others anywhere . The owner jay is very nice, as are his staff. If you know what your looking for or don’t, they can help you find it, if they don’t have it, they can order it. I’m glad I’m a local so I can go and get new stuff often . If you have a boat, watercraft, or just want a material to roll out and about in, in any season, in any weather .....Helly is what to wear, and Newport is where to get it! Pictures coming soon.

Always a friendly staff on hand to help and answer questions. Variety is excellent. Pricing is typical Helly Hansen, but you get what you pay for. Plus there is usually a sale going on so the value is even greater.

I’ve been here in the past when the service was friendly and helpful. I then went here on a Sunday, Feb 14th afternoon and it was quite the contrary. Not one person offered to help or even bother to say hello. A little note to the snooty, judgmental millennials who now work here: No matter who you are, you’re paid to do a job, and that job in this instance is to provide help and maybe even a hint of hospitality; you’re not just paid to look cool and judge others. I’ll keep coming for the Helly Hansen product, not for the sub-par/nonexistent service.

Tried on a neck warmer and was then yelled at from across the store by a blonde lady “you have to buy that now”.I asked why there isn’t a sign indicating you must purchase, assuming such a rule would have a simple notice.The same lady then told me, “it’s common sense”.Mindful it is Covid and there are stricter policies in place. Regardless, the way this was handled by the employee was absolutely awful. Telling a patron they lack common sense is quite frankly astounding to me.I’ve bought every jacket I own from this exact store, but will never go back after the blatant disrespect of that employee.The cashier however was fantastic, and represents what I’d expect from a premium retailer.

I was doing the vineyard race and it was going to get pretty cold at night so I needed an offshore jacket. HH was having a sale and so I got an awesome Skagen jacket and then went back and got another one for my boyfriend- also doing the race. Megan (I think) helped me get the best price for both jackets and helped me choose the best jacket. During the race, while we were going uphill with waves washing over the bow in 26knots, I could not have been happier to have my jacket!

I live in NY so I couldnt personally visit the store. However I called to ask for advice on what type of jackets and bibs best suits my needs and Virgina was EXTREMELY helpful and patient with explaining the differences between the products I was interested in! She really helped me make a more informed decision on my bug purchase and could only imagine how much more helpful she could have been in person. Highly recommend this store based on the customer service I received over the phone!

No bargains here because the stuff is quality, but if you enjoy sailing or on-the-water type sports, or you just want something to keep you dry and warm, youll find something you like. Very pleasant store with excellent and varied selection and am inviting staff.

Bought a product on line, they sent me a wrong one. When contacted I was informed that they didnt have the other so they decided to send me a different one instead of letting me know.BE CAREFUL. .Update: they admit not having a proper coding for color. So if you buy something with different color options you may end up with a completely diverse one, even though you paid for a specific. . wow, just wow.

Terrible terrible service. Over a month ago I ordered two jackets. One fit and one did not, so I exchanged the one jacket for a larger size and put it in the mail for return the very next day. Two and a half weeks pass and I call to make sure they received the jacket and they said they did and the larger jacket should ship soon. Another week and a half passes and I call because I didn’t receive any notification of anything on its way- this woman says there is no sign of anything being shipped out to me- she can see there was an exchange made but no documentation of the new jacket ever being shipped. She will call me at 9 am the next day once she speaks to her manager who’s no longer there. 230 the next day I call and say I never received a phone call I was promised and this woman says she didn’t know she was supposed to call me.. unbelievable! This is a Wednesday now and she says that oh yes the jacket was shipped you should get it by Friday. UPS notifies me it was shipped 3 day shipping so they definitely messed up somewhere along the lines with not shipping it out weeks earlier. Friday comes and goes without a package, big surprise. Monday I get notified it’s being delivered- only to find out they didn’t give UPS my correct address so now I still do not have it and I am leaving in two weeks for a three month trip. I would not ever, ever recommend this place. Management and organization skills are terrible and I am beyond unimpressed with how they document phone calls, for surely someone should see I shouldn’t have to work this hard to receive a package. If I were the owner I’d be embarrassed.

Employees were very knowledgeable and friendly! The store was clean and beautifully set up. I went to return an online purchase however and discovered that this Helly Hansen is privately owned so I could only receive in store credit. If you are returning from online I recommend shipping it back.

Bought a jacket with a lifetime warranty it has a tear in it and the tiny little Napoleon like owner refused to do anything about it. Would have had better luck at Walmart lol.

Great sailing gear and staff is a great help and very nice

Received expensive sunglasses as a gift, but lenses were spidered and blurry. When I went in, not only would they not exchange, but they would not give me information on how to return them directly to the sunglass company. The clerk said to look online.
