Love this place, oils are out of this world. They sell beautiful gifts baskets as well. Customer for life.
Great product
I often stop in here and the customer service is about what youd expect. Not pushy and rather relaxed. The oil and vinegar selection is quite extensive and they have truffle oil (however, Im not quite sure about the oil quality here - truffle infused oil can vary quite a bit). Nevertheless I bought the truffle oil and use it on my popcorn and mashed potatoes and it really tastes phenomenal. The vinegars are nice - the fig and cherry are a go to for salads. Another idea for a salad dressing would be a white vinegar with a blood orange oil.
Great place
If the customer service were the same quality of the products they sell, I would have actually considered buying something. A few of my friends and I were shopping around Newport when we came across Virgin & Aged. One of my friends was searching for a gift for her mother, so we stopped in. I thought the interior of the store was clever and unique. After trying a few samples, we decided that wed come back later on, saving ourselves from having to lug around the bags. On my way out, I smiled at the women working and thanked her. I couldnt help but notice that she had a very snooty and irritated look on her face as she mumbled something to the other woman working. I asked her what she had said because honestly at the time I wasnt sure if she had meant for me to hear. I understood her the second time when she snapped at me, This isnt an activity. At first I felt the urge to defend myself, but quickly realized that she wasnt worth wasting my breathe. I find it so frustrating that she stereotyped me and my friends based on our age. An employee should never attack and judge a customer, especially if its because the customer didnt make a purchase. Im glad to say my friends and I didnt go back and give her store any business. Its too bad that her poor social skills and bad morals got in the way of her business.
Lots of delicious things to try here. I have several bottles at home and use them often. The finishing oils last a while but I will be back as soon as I run out!
Went on a rainy Friday in January, practically had the town to ourselves, and free parking jn the winter months! The lady on staff was very nice and helpful. I cant wait to go back and get more oils and vinegars!
A wonderful place to shop. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Great gift packages too. Tasting is a must. Dont forget to get your rewards card, buy ten get one free. Im on my fourth card.
Ran in here hoping to find some neapolitan herb balsamic vinegar and was so happy they had it in stock!!! Regarding some of the comments I saw regarding high pricing - this is what you should expect to pay for quality. Although I was here for only a minute, the staff was friendly and got me checked out quickly! Nothing like a chef in a rush who needs her vinegar... lol Really nice, clean shop and plenty to choose from. If you love cooking, you need to experience these oils and vinegars!!
We were humiliated by the lady staff. My wife went in the shop, saw the small paper cups for trying, took about 1-2 ml and tried and thought the taste was interesting, so came out and wanted me to try too. The moment I had the cup in my hand, this lady came up and rudely said: this sample cup is not supposed to be taken out, and if you want to taste outside, buy the bottled ones. Then literally grabed the small paper cup away from my hand. I was astonished, like what just happend!?, and felt humiliated, particularly with many people walking by!! If you dont want customers to take the sample cups out, put some message board (dont try, or dont take out) there and politely tell customer before they walk out; dont chase out to the street and humiliated people like this.
I tested the oils for purchase as they suggest and welcome, but I put them on my hands and face (and not even a lot mind you and only a bit of the oils that were plain) because my intended use is topically and for cooking as well. As I was purchasing an overpriced bottle of their oil, the cashier (owner?) chided me (as if I were a child) for testing her oil on my body saying they were expensive and cost her money. I told her I only used a little and tested only the plain ones - what difference does it make if I am tasting or applying to my face if you are encouraging testing? Rude - overpriced and snotty. Its olive oil not diamonds, lady. Sorry I even patronized and bought a bottle of your overpriced oil. What she should have said was interesting use of the oil, hope you enjoy thank you - come again. Take a lesson, and treat your customers better and maybe they will return, but I guess you dont care as long as you get the tourists to buy your oils. Also, try hiring people who actually know about the oils and can answer basic questions about them and who understand polyphenols, fat content etc.
Very friendly staff, willing to let you try the various oils before buying. They have a wide selection and can provide insight on what dishes to serve the oil with.
Excellent olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Best flavored balsamics.
