Newport Safeway is the cleanest grocery store i have visited. The meat.counter is neatly laid out and the cuts of meat look.great and uniform cuts. There is always at least 2 people sweeping the floors and others straightening shelves. A great shopping experience

Very crowed. Isle are very narrow and tall. Not organized very good. Some items with other items doesnt make sense. Prices are high. But they have great bakery.

I got an egg sandwich from deli, it was super fresh, but when I bit into it, literally all I good taste was the one peice of lettuce that was in it. Really no egg at all!! Needs more egg!!!

Safeway is my preferred grocery store. The parking is much easier than at other grocery stores. They have everything I need which I cannot say about other stores. The employees are great, especially Bram who checked me out today. He was a good representation of the Safeway brand. He did an excellent job bagging my groceries.

This store is the bomb, yo!MUCH more chill than Freddies or Walmart. Each and every employee has a fantastic attitude, store is super clean and impeccably kept. Flowers and produce are spot on! Prepared foods??? So yummy.Even if you have the need for diverse cooking, prep tools, pharmacy items.. you will be hard pressed to walk into this particular Safeway and walk out empty handed!You get the vibe this store goes out of its way to make your shopping experience a pleasant one -- in every conceivable way. Its a great store. I just wish they had the cut up fruits and veggies that you usually find in the produce section. Sometimes they even make desserts like strawberry shortcake. They are typically in bowls and sell for 3 for $10-$12. Those are amazing! Other than that, great selection 👍

Ive been shopping at Safeway in Newport, OR since 1969. Its my grocery store of choice and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I dont like that store products were recently rearranged but I will learn where everything is (again) in time. However, I do not like the new website. I prefer the previous one as it was easier to search.

The new app does not always work. I had to ask the checker to add the discount on every sale item that I scanned. The checker stated that “it can take up to 1/2 hour for scanned sale items to load”. The checker did not attempt to check for other mistakes, until I asked her to check. She stated “Not my fault”. If I had not caught the errors, I would have been charged $15.00 plus change over. I asked to speak with a manager, who attempted, without success, to fix the app on my phone. He stated, “ scanned sale items should download immediately “. I asked him why the cashier had just said they take up to 1/2 hour. Oh my! When will Safeway fix there app, so that people are not over charged? And when will the employees be trained, so that they give you the same answers. It feels like the employees couldnot care less! CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! Otherwise, you most likely will be overcharged!

Its Safeway, everything the brand represents.Clean store, excellent deli, super awesome bakery with staff that can meet your every baking need, plus hot fresh donuts every day.My favorite Sweethome grocery store.

Unfortunately they dont have self check and only had three checkstands open.

There IS ALWAYS A BIG HUGE LINE..There are NEVER enough cashiers..you have to wait at least 10 in line before you can check out. The people in the store dont know what any of the sales are..and the always look at you as if you were stealing something..

Their club card is not utterly useless. Prices have gone up substantially. They reset the isles and relocated every item. Very annoying. Lines get very long but 2-3 employees in uniform can still chat in the office while store director is MIA.

The Safeway in Newport had a fairly recent refurb and looks great. The produce has always looked especially nice every time Ive gone in. This is a fairly small Safeway but the selection is pretty good. Im knocking off a star for the lack of self checkout. I understand that self checkouts take jobs from people but Ive been into this store too many times waiting in a long line with empty unstaffed checkout lanes. This has been less of an issue lately, but nonetheless this store should have at least a couple self checkouts. That issue aside its a nice store and the staff is usually friendly.

Safeway Newport has a friendly staff, and I enjoy interacting with them. If theres no one at the seafood counter, any employee Ive asked will gladly hop behind the counter, wash up, and grab my items. I like their bonus points, and use them to get discounts on my purchases and discounts on gas at Chevron gas stations.

Decent sized Safeway, good selection, checkout lanes move fast.

May have the most unmotivated, slow checkers Ive ever seen. Must be scraping the bottom of the barrel to get anyone to work. Only reason for 2 stars was because they had what we needed stocked. I would avoid that store.

I usually like these stores, but I bought my favorite brownies... Woohoo on sale....but they had weird feeling film of yuck. Then, got some Talenti ... All..were sticky and had to wash my hands. A lead or manager moved a sliding rack right behind a customer in the line. Then I was in line a woman manager or lead says break then slide a thing in line. Wow, I have around in many states and this place was ugh.

Clean. The produce section was small and limited. Cashiers were nice and friendly.

Safeway is a cut above the others if you use its free discount card. Also, thus store is open until 11pm. Its pharmacy is competitive. The produce department is superior as is the meat, seafood, and deli departments. The staff is a pleasure to work with.

I do love this store. The produce always looks good and never smells fishy when going up to the fish counter. They take good care of their seafood. And we adore Tamra James and Anthony so, that always makes for a great shopping experience. If all of our favorite people left or moved on to other jobs we probly wouldnt shop here as much.

This is not really a bad medium sized store. If youre reading this Im pretty sure U are not from here. So let me explain. This store along with a couple of other name brand stores no longer in business. Where the anchor stores when the shopping center went in, in 1974. But then Fredi, Staples & Wally came to town & put in stores with over twice the foot print and put an end to what I would call tight coastal community. By the time Staples pulled out after ruining the three local stationary stores and then Fred & Wally took care of the local pharmacys. So Safeway here is a heckava survivor. So I shop there whenever possible.

My first visit here and it wont be my last. Even though it had the crazy traffic direction stickers and we had to mask up, it was the people who.made the difference...the you g man wiping g down the baskets at the door, the young man who helped me as I was leaving, but mostly the check out woman! So friendly and cheerful. I even asked her name, but I have now forgotten it. She was at the 15 items or less counter...at about 3 or 4 oclock on Friday, Aug. 7th. She deserves kudos from the management...as do the young men! I shall return for sure!

The staff is friendly and very helpful in the store and pharmacy. The store is constantly being cleaned and it is small enough to make shopping easy. I would give it 5 stars and its more an issue with the corporation not supplying enough meat or seafood even when they advertise specials that they should have in stock but dont recieve the item or only a very small amount

Hats off to the sanitation team at Safeway. While, most shoppers assume grocery store workers are still getting extra pay. WRONG! These cats are still working for straight pay and minimal at that. Not even overtime or holiday pay for most holidays.Its amazing to me how some people actually take time to Karen in a time like this.Most of the negative reviews Ive read have been passive aggressive at best.Go game your own food, grow and pick your own herbs and veggies and dont forget to purchase your own cow. Instead of complaining about the people who have been there for the community.Give them a break and maybe a thanks.Just try and have some patience during these times and realize were all in this together.

Prices are higher than competitor, selection is more limited, as are the number of checkout lanes at this location which means long lines seemingly no matter the day or time.

Well... I have worked here for 12 years. The meat dept. Has a nice selection of different cuts of meat. He bakery has a nice array of cakes, cheese cakes, cookies, and soft bread items and a lot of other breads bagels, and croissants. The deli has fried and baked chicken, burritos, corn dogs chicken strips, pizza sticks boneless and orange chicken, by no Chinese food like Lincoln City does. We are a smaller store. And the floral is great, too

Dont come for toilet paper! They still have some water. Friendly staff and they do the best they can, but seriously they have to get more staff. The lines are ridiculously long. Hard to find someone on the floor to help you!
