Good selection of meats. We usually get to go from the restaurant in the same building and its very good Mexican food.

The restaurant portion is gone now (post pandemic), but the butchery and grocery store still sell top notch food at good prices. Best chicken legs (no fat, extra meaty), marinated wings, chorizo, and flank steak that I’ve ever tasted. The grocery store portion has the spiciest Jalapeños for a good price. They also stock all my favorite hot sauces, some I can’t get at Food Lion. There is a slight language barrier with butchers, but if you can read off the meat’s title card, count in Spanish (uno, dos, etc.) and know that “libras” means pounds, your good to go. For example, “dos libras de pollo marinado” (two pounds of marinated chicken) and add a “por favor” at the end to say please.

I love this place hands down! Ill never buy meat anywhere else. Ive been purchasing my meats from Los Chavez for many years and HIGHLY RECOMMEND them above any Butcher or grocery store. Very friendly atmosphere with GREAT SERVICE!

Absolutely amazing food! The torta cubana is phenomenal, as are the burritos and gorditas. The cóctel de camarón was incredibly refreshing and yummy! Incredibly kind service and hospitable owners make this a must-stop! Make sure to get some horchata as well.

Theres an authentic food bar inside next to the butcher shop, which is an excellent place for beef, pork, and chicken. I had a steak burrito, which came with pico de gallo, which was nice and spicy!

This Mexican food store and Eatery are the absolute best! The food is authentic and amazing in both the uncooked grocery side and the prepared restaurant side. The people here are also amazing. Javier Chavez owns this place and he is one of the finest people I have ever met.

Was not able to talk to person who answered the phone. I dont speak spanish and they dont speak English very well. Just miscommunication issue.

My girlfriend and I were really excited to try this place. We went in, didnt see any staff, so we seated ourselves. A little while later, a waitress brought us menus. We proceeded to sit there for almost 20 minutes while the other tables, who came in after us, were brought chips and salsa and had their orders taken. Finally, the waitress came back over and asked if we were paying with cash or card? I said card and she told us that the machine was down and that they could only accept cash. We got up and left.

This place is horribleBad customer service, ordered $80 worth of food and $30 worth of food was missing, I told the owner he has to pay attention to his orders and he said I’m no one to tell him what to do. As I arrived home the meat was burned and had no flavor! Makes me mad, never going to this place again. Read your reviews people before you go! And they over charged on taxes

I ate in the little restaurant. Its called Hermanos Chavez. I had a burrito and a taco and both are very good. That place is legit.

Im a big fan of Hermanos Chavez, but as some have said, their customer service could use some work.Hermanos Chavez delivers great meat at competitive prices and their store is one of the bigger tienditas in the Hickory/Newton area with a great selection of goods.The food in the restaurant is good and comes at a pretty good price.Ive had great experience with the butcher staff and the cashiers are friendly enough, but the wait staff in the restaurant area ranges from rude to aloof.On one of our most recent visits, me, my wife and my in-laws came to HNos Chavez eager for some fresh dinner during a long day trip to Charlotte.It was New Years Day, so we anticipated different operating hours. We got to the location at 7:50. We went in, sat down in the restaurant with every other table full and waited about five minutes for the waitress to tell us they were closed.Did they... close at 8? If so, we still had time to get an order in. Did they... close at 7:30? Surely not, as others didnt have their food yet.The waitress offered no compromise. Just said, kitchens closed. Not great service.Instead, we went down the road to El Caporal and spent about $75 on food and another few bucks on drinks and desserts! Shame on you Hnos Chavez! Could have been your profit!With so much similar competition the Hickory Metro area, dont be afraid to take your money elsewhere if the service in the restaurant area doesnt meet your expectations.Again, mostly positive things to say about the store, especially the carniceria, but the restaurant can be a bit of an adventure and this experience leaves a sour taste!
